Afternoon all. I just got back from a "Jack and Jill" market, it's a Scottish thing, basically a car boot sale by mums, for mums. Loads of good bargains to be had, though we didn't get anything for bump! Got DS a few toys, then came home and packed away all his current toys. He's just so bored of them all, hoping when I get them out again in a few weeks they'll be new and interesting again. Still, any Scottish mums, I'd recommend looking up your local one.

Not much to report on the pg front, I'm 29 weeks now and managing ok, even though my spd is getting worse I painted the garden fence yesterday though, which could explain more pain today. Just trying to be sensible with it ;)

Hope everyone is doing ok. Can't imagine eating octopus personally, but I don't really like many sea creatures as food. It's the texture that gets me! Fish and prawns are about all I do. DH loves muscles and scallops and all things squidgy and squishy though, and has promised to feed both DC them so they're more adventurous with food than me. :)

Someone at my work told me about the Jack & Jill Markets stacks so I've joined the FB group to keep an eye on when the next one is local to me. From what I've heard, it's a bit of a hit or miss but there are bargains to be had! Smile

Went for a tour round the birth and labour suites of the hospital yesterday. That makes things a lot more real! The birthing pool rooms look lovely and calming, and they are very flexible in what you can take in with you so I really hope I am low risk when the time comes.

It was so hot though, I almost fainted. They had all the radiators on full blast as well as it being 20 degree sunshine. I dread to think how hot it will be in there come June!

Stacks · 14/04/2014 10:02

I hadn't thought of the heat in June! Hopefully the unit is sensible and has a max as well as min temperature. When I had DS at Christmas the ward was boiling hot. I spent as much time as I could with the bed curtains closed and my top open to cool off. They wouldn't let you open any windows either, as a draft is bad for babies.

Kiki2408 · 14/04/2014 10:04

Im due september the 2nd! 20 week scan on tuesday! Xx

Redcliff · 14/04/2014 16:46

Tours and baby sales (jack and Jill sounds great) is making the whole thing a lot more real. I ordered my pram from mother care last week and only the cover has arrived ! I hope the rest is on its way !

Redcliff · 15/04/2014 08:32

Hi Kiki - all sounds very exciting. Your very welcome - I suspect there is also a September bus for people due then so might be worth joining that one as well.

I cannot, not give the tesco big black pants another shout out! I love them I bought loads before ELCS with Ava, they washed perfectly and I wear them all the time now, dh hates them all other pants end up going small after a few washes and my bum eats them but not the tesco big pants, bring them on Grin

Redcliff · 16/04/2014 18:35

I love big pants and will check out the Tesco's ones for sure. I had my last consultant appointment and they have said they are going to sign my back to midwife care - hooray. She did mention the sugar (glucose?) in my pee and we decided it must have been the cornflakes I had that morning - mainly because I didn't tell her about the last 3 nights of scoffing chocolate (and rather a large amount)

chestnutmare · 16/04/2014 20:16

I bought some lovely big Primark pants at the weekend, only £2.50 for a pack of 4 Smile Very sexy! They are very comfy, which is the main thing I guess!

Redcliff · 17/04/2014 08:01

Comfort is key for me right now. Today I have given up my heels - a combination of swollen feet and achy legs has meant I have now brought some cheap flats next size up. I feel so short now!

Mitchell2 · 17/04/2014 11:15

Happy Faux friday everyone... anyone up to anything exciting for the weekend?

Jessiebaba · 17/04/2014 12:45

I just noticed the Easter smileys - definitely brought a smile to my face (easy pleased) Easter Smile

Anyway, not got anything overly exciting planned for the long weekend Mitchell - going to take my dogs to the beach tomorrow, football on Saturday followed by dinner at PILs then going to see my mum on Sunday. I'm going to try to keep Monday free so I can just have a lazy day/day of doing things in the house. What about you?

Mitchell2 · 17/04/2014 12:55

Going down to my PIL for the weekend which hopefully will be nice and relaxing. They have a lovely garden with a summer house and a nice sofa in it which I think has my name on it Easter Smile

This weekend is business as usual for us. DH is working and I'm home with DS. We do have the car mot on Saturday though, and the new mattress for our bed being delivered. Not sure that's really the kind of plans people are expecting :) I am excited about the new mattress though, there's a big dip down the middle of our current one (DH doesn't mind - because he sleeps in it!). I'm hoping it'll help my back/hips. Fingers crossed.

Sussex31 · 17/04/2014 21:20

Had a midwife appointment today that showed up +++sugar in my wee so now have the glucose load test next week.

Has anyone else had +++ results that turned out not to be gestational diabetes? The midwife didn't seem overly concerned but that doesn't stop me worrying!

Reading your comment Redcliff I am hoping it was my breakfast that sent my levels up.

mylittlel · 18/04/2014 20:23

had my 31 week appt with midwife on thursday felt like it was extremely quick comparing with me having to wait for half an hour as she was all this time with one person, nothing new, she couldnt say in what position my baby is, its good we have scan booked for next saturday)

mylittlel · 19/04/2014 10:03

Feel a bit annoyed with my Mother-in-law she keep asking us what we still have to buy, do we have a list, and not out of interest but to buy these bits and not to tell us, i found out about this via sister-in-law its very nice of her but my mum as she lives far away even didnt have a chance to buy anything yet, and now has to buy small bits which is annoying as every time my hubby mentioned something to his mum she went and bought it without consulting us, maybe its pregnancy but it just **es me off every time, i told her obviously in a nice way that i wont show her the list and told hubby to keep this mouth shut (its the only way to stop her), and i do like my in laws, but some things they do are so inappropriate even if the think its a good gesture, sometimes its not
sometimes it feels as if im so stupid so dont know myself what to buy, as all this questions do we have a mosquito net, do we have parasol, sunshade etc etc plus she works in a nursery, i just feel like i want them to leave me alone and get on with things
sorry for the rant)

Mitchell2 · 19/04/2014 20:32

Rant away... I don't see my inlaws that much but we are at theirs this weekend. His mum really really wants to buy us something but I've already got everything (and she has questionable taste!). It's nice I think that we have in laws that are excited though, but it know exactly what you mean about just getting on with it yourself and also wanting for others like your mum to be able to buy stuff if they want too.

Redcliff · 19/04/2014 23:32

Ah yes - the double edged sword of those that want to buy lots of stuff. My mum is a bit like this so I asked her to get the pram and then said to anything else "I couldn't possibly let you as you have been so generous already". Seems to have done the trick.

SophiePickle · 19/04/2014 23:46

stacks Remember to get a waterproof mattress protector in case your waters go in the night and ruin your brand new mattress!

SophiePickle · 20/04/2014 00:04

My mother in law thinks I should be on bed rest until the baby arrives. 9 weeks time... Today she kept asking me if I wanted a cup of tea, if I was warm enough, if I wanted a lie down, bringing me blankets, bringing me food. All very nice but dude, leave me alone!
I think mother in laws are well meaning but at least I can tell my own mam to stop fussing me but I don't feel like I can with my mother in law!

I've got my 31 week appt on Tuesday. Baby was transverse last appt. she said it's nothing to worry about so far but might be something to keep an eye on closer to my due date. Any one else's baby transverse?
I've been crawling around the house on all fours to try and give it space to move. Pretty sure it's still transverse!

mylittel, is your scan an extra one or have you always been scheduled for it? My scheduled scans were only 12 and 20 weeks

mylittlel · 20/04/2014 09:31

Sophie we had to book private as i had only 2 NHS scans and they didnt find any abnormalities, and as i want to make sure that everything is definitely fine and she is ok we booked private one, it was hard to find a cheap growth scan, all are over £100

Redcliff · 21/04/2014 16:35

Is everyone enjoying their Easter weekend? I managed a walk to Pizza Hut today for lunch ( just to make sure we all left the house) and back again and it's wiped me out! DS and DP stayed out for an extra half an hour playing football so had some sofa tv time but its never enough is it?

Mitchell2 · 21/04/2014 18:28

My weekend was spent at the inlaws. Quite relaxing actually, although new pregnancy ailments have arisen namely not being able to sleep comfortably and my feet have started swelling! 32 weeks tomorrow... The count down begins!
