Those with bad backs on office jobs - I have found a foot rest makes all the difference . Last time my back was so bad I thought I would have to be signed off work and as soon as I got a foot rest it disappeared. Have made sure I got one this time and can really feel it if I sit somewhere else for the day,

Also had my midwife appointment today and was a bit gutted to not hear the heartbeat. Rest was fine - roll on scan in a couple of weeks .

SleepyNess · 16/01/2014 17:57

So relieved I'm not alone!!! I'm due for a work space assessment, although I have a good chair my posture is rubbish but I can't seem to help it... feel so tired in the afternoons.. But I'm going to ask to swap desks because mine is in the hottest spot in the whole office. I'm coveting a really nicely located desk at the corner of the office, by the window and with lots of privacy (that might not help my productivity though.. ). Someone won't be happy but I hope they'll struggle to refuse a pregnant lady! It's only for 4 m

ChicaMomma · 16/01/2014 17:58

I'm due June 19th but loathe to update the list to clog up the thread again!!

Cannot believe we are almost half way there.. getting a bump now which is exciting.
have my 18 week appt in the morning, going to get my Hemoglobin checked as have been wrecked- started on the iron tablets last week so it has improved a bit!

TRYING to exercise every day, i know this is so important for labour! Did a 30 min walk at lunch time today and did pilates Monday/yoga tuesday. So a very good week on the exercise front!

We will have babies THIS YEAR ladies!!

SleepyNess · 16/01/2014 17:58

Fingers crossed I did that right...added ChicaMomma and updated my entry :)

I did an antenatal fitness class on Tuesday and my legs are still very achy! Shows how embarrassingly unfit I am. It was good fun though and I feel like I am doing something at least.

jaykay987 · 16/01/2014 18:48

4 months? Scarey! Grin

Jessiebaba · 16/01/2014 19:07

Ah Redcliff I had wondered if a foot rest might make a difference, I'll definitely try one out and see if it helps - thanks for the recommendation! Smile

Sleepy I sit at a freezing cold desk right at the window with lots of privacy (hence why I'm sometimes posting on here when I really should be working) anyway, I hate being cold. I can't wait until the 'hot' pregnancy feeling kicks in so I can enjoy my cold seat!

SleepyNess · 16/01/2014 19:18

Jessie, ha hah! Grass is always greener, hey? :) I feel hot most of the time though.. And it's not like I can put a jumper on to get better AND everyone walks behind me which I don't like at all :P

wispaxmas · 16/01/2014 19:29

Marking my place!

Vickyvix · 16/01/2014 19:46

Ah congrats bezzabelle wispa and MrsCharlie and pomder :)

Good luck tomorrow gilly - and thanks for the new thread.

sleepy that's totally how I feel about work. I have lost all motivation but I am so busy and by the time I get home I am so tired. My bum has been hurting from sitting down these last few days but I have been worried it's because I am getting heavier .......and yes, my snacking at work is totally out of control!

Counting down the days. I'm actually off work on holiday next week, cannot come round quick enough!

I'll wait to update the list once we've had scan and know gender Grin

MarlenaGru · 16/01/2014 20:59

I have a foot rest but it doesn't seem to help much. Although I do struggle to use it! I keep kicking it and fiddling with it. Last time I found a yoga block helped my bottom! No idea where I put it though.

Bezzabelle · 16/01/2014 21:10

Well time to get it all out..... After the initial high of the scan, I am now having a slight panic about the thought of having two children. Had a hard afternoon with ds who was very demanding, whiny and generally hard work. But generally he is a lovely little boy who eats pretty well, goes to bed without any problems, sleeps all night (took 18 months to sleep through though!!) adapts to most situations well and is nice with other kids so I am lucky. However now wondering how I can go back to sleepness nights, feeding, teething, constant illnesses, possible colic, weaning etc etc and with a little boy to deal with at the same time! Any me time is going to go totally out the window! Don't know why this has suddenly hit me and know I'm sounding totally ungrateful as am very lucky to have what I have but don't feel I can air this in RL and its all whirling around in my head....anyone else having this panic??

Vickyvix · 16/01/2014 21:22

bezza that's the great thing about MN, it's not RL and we're all listening so let it all out.

I don't have and children, this is DC1 on the way so really cannot offer any real life experience type advice. But from what you say you have done a splendid job of bringing up DS1 and so you will undoubtedly do the same for DC2. I totally understand the thought of it could be a little daunting though.

I am sure your DS1 will rise to the challenge of being a big brother too and hopefully will quickly adapt to setting a shining example for his little brother.

I regularly panic about how on earth I will cope with one, plus DH plus the cat plus household stuff plus work etc so I admire anybody with more than one.

Mother Nature will kick in though and give you those magical mummy super powers which mean you're totally capable of managing it all.

I'm looking forward to some of those.....assuming they do exist ;) Brew

misshoohaa · 16/01/2014 21:26

Bezza - yup I'm with you. DS has recently dropped his nap as well, so the days with him are pretty long! I've been into the nursery we're hoping to get him into today, but just not sure I can face leaving him yet (he's 2.5 so not that young, but still my baby!) so roughing it out with two is daunting the pants of me.

Those who haven't been allowed or offered to hear the heartbeat at 16/17/18 week MW appointments, why not?

Surely there is a medical logic to doing so? I was very relieved to hear it at mine, and would have been pretty annoyed if the midwife hadn't done it? Seems odd?

MarlenaGru · 16/01/2014 21:39

bezza my DD will be six when baby arrives. I will be going from total independence all the way back. Luckily she is great and very easy going but is still an awful sleeper so I am slightly terrified how we will deal with two awake at night. I think it is very normal to panic. Most people seem to cope though so I am sure we will too!

giraffelegs · 16/01/2014 21:50

My midwife described it as 'a fish in a bowl' misshooha which I took to mean don't be surprised if we can't find a heartbeat. She did manage but I guess some places would prefer to avoid the panic that might be caused by not finding it! Seems a shame not to try though.

bezza I am also panicking. DD is 27 months and still doesn't reliably sleep through the night. so at the moment I'm up at silly o'clock with her wondering what on earth we're doing having another!

My due date is actually 8 June but I will update next week when I know the gender. I'm guessing it's a boy.

hackneybird · 16/01/2014 22:07

bezza I'm panicking too. Like Marlena I have a pretty big gap (DS will be 4.5 when baby comes) and its been getting easier and easier as he gets older. He is toilet trained both day and at night, is starting to play by himself, can watch a whole film in its entirely, walks everywhere doesn't need a buggy......argh what am I doing!

It will be worth it in the long run.

sleepy yes I have zero motivation. A bit of a problem as I am soooo busy. Roll on May. All I care about is what I'm having for lunch and dinner. Am also hungry all the time so I am forcing myself to eat fruit salad.

welcome pom hope you haven't had too many serious problems

CleverOl10 · 16/01/2014 22:36

Totally sympathise with those starting to ache. By the end of a day's teaching I find myself walking like a cowboy who's lost his horse! So achy! Today I ended up taking a chair to the front of the room and teaching sitting down!

Am another for whom the reality of having two children is starting to kick in. My ds will be just 4 when the baby is born and generally good but it's been hard work to get to this stage.....and now we're doing it again?!!!!!

BEEwitched · 16/01/2014 22:51

We still only have our small Klippan sofa and I haven't adjusted the way I sit lounge - earlier on I was sitting with my legs crossed and I almost got stuck, the pain in my hip and pelvis when I untangled my legs was something else.... I really need to get into the habit to sit properly.

Thankfully our new sofa arrives tomorrow, it's nice and big and comfy!

Redcliff · 16/01/2014 22:56

Bezza - I have had the same panic about two. My DS will be 7 and I can't get my head around being a family of 2 adults and one child to two adults and 2 children. Really want to get out and about in the summer but how is breast feeding going to work, willI be too shattered to do anything and so on. I am sure we will be fine but still feels very scary.

I think the stress of not hearing the heartbeat and the follow up hospital appoints have put some midwives off doing the heartbeat thing. I might ask next time though.

Sareva · 16/01/2014 23:12

Bezza I echo some of the other ladies. My DDs will be 7 and 5 - I regularly have my omg moments! Especially when my sister and 4 week old nephew came to stay the night and I slept right through, I didn't hear the three times he woke up.....in the next room Shock

Bezzabelle · 17/01/2014 06:52

Thanks everyone- made me feel much better!
