Steak was lovely but can barely keep my eyes open tonight. I hate the clocks going this way! Always end up shattered.

bellygazing · 01/04/2014 08:14

I am shattered too - and am now under doctor's orders to literally put my feet up once I get home from work! Was having really really tired spells including going quite pale but as bloods came back normal, the only solution is to do less.

Redcliff · 01/04/2014 08:27

Stacks - you so need another day when you get your promised pancakes - cereal with no tea is not the same at all.

Feeling a bit more human today after a good nights sleep. Had set my alarm for early in order to get to work early but thought better of it. People are starting to ask how long I have got - I think this is a sure sign that I am getting even bigger. I have a dietician appointment on Thursday so I will guess I will find out for sure then.

Redcliff · 01/04/2014 08:28

Belly - hope you got to put those feet up!

Liquidambar · 01/04/2014 12:19

I am also soo tired! I was working till late last night - applying for a new job. DS woke up several times and only wanted mummy...

My tummy feels really tender and it's getting a bit uncomfortable, especially on my right side. I am not sure if I should call triage ask.

Redcliff · 01/04/2014 20:00

It wouldn't hurt to call them I would say . Impressed that your applying for jobs at this stage of the game - when would you look to start? My son can be a bit "mummy focused " sometimes - flattering and frustrating in equal measure.

Mitchell2 · 01/04/2014 22:05

Struggling today and def have the pregnant waddle going on. Oh and DH thinks it's hilarious as we went out to dinner and everyone was super nice to be because my bump has exploded and I def look pregnant Sad

Realised yesterday 35 working days left for me! In a bit of a panic as to how everything is going to get done. Sadly due to short ish mat leave I know I can't just hand it over and make it someone else's problem as they are not even going to get someone to cover.

jaykay987 · 02/04/2014 03:58

that's tough Mitchell...my countdown is starting to worry me and due to the nature if my job I will hand over everything. Try not to stress - Jm sure you have a great plan!

grrrrr......yet another 3am start for me. Is this really going to last another 13weeks? I would like some sleep please! 3am wake up 3days in a row is a killer!

Redcliff · 02/04/2014 08:29

Mitch - Thats a bummer about you not having someone to hand over to. The last thing you need is extra stress but you made me laugh about your waddle - I tell myself I don't waddle but am sure it's not true.

Jay - 3am? That is crazy - did you mange to get back to sleep at all? Hope tonight is a little better.

I am having a crazy time at work at the moment - did 9 to 7 yesterday, out at an assessment centre today and back in tomorrow to interview for my maternity cover. Should have been last Thursday but only one out of 4 turned up ! The person who had my job before me is one of the interviewees - very weird!

Liquidambar · 02/04/2014 09:03

Spent 5 hours in triage yesterday. They thought it could be appendicitis but the blood tests did not show anything significant. I will need to go back if symptoms do not improve by Thursday or if I get worst. But I had a better night sleep and I am working from home today.

Mitchell that's bad, that you do not have someone to replace you. Have you thought about the contact you will put in your out of office?

They were interviewing for my job yesterday. I am really curious to see who will take my post.

Jay 3am?! That is hard

I am having a cup of coffee this morning. I don think I will be able to work without some caffeine in my system. One cup of coffee I can't be that bad, can't it?

Mitchell2 · 02/04/2014 09:56

I think that they are just going to see how it goes. Its the quietest time of the year over summer here, so my team will be able to take over a lot of the day to day stuff. I have already delegated some of my more senior responsibilities outside the department (calling in A LOT of favors) and my boss, who is based in the US will just have to pick up the rest of it. They will cope but it will be just treading water until I get back really - all the strategic stuff will just have to wait!

Jay 3am ?! Now that is crap.

liquid - I don't usually drink coffee but due to tiredness I have been known to down a can of coke in the mornings! I think everything in moderation, including caffeine is ok Smile

2blessed · 02/04/2014 13:42

I have 16 work days left even though I finish at the beginning of May - whooo!!

Hope everything is ok liquid

I definitely waddle this time round.

Only one person has applied for my mat cover, hope they're successful at interview!

Had a lovely medium to well done steak last night. Didn't take the risk with my first pregnancy but feeling ok so hopefully....

MarlenaGru · 02/04/2014 14:18

I have had coke two days in a row now as I have had a stomach bug and couldn't keep anything down. The baby is going nuts thanks to the coke!!

I am luckily eating again!

It is starting to get really hard working at the moment. We are so busy and such a small team that there is nobody to pick up the slack if I can't do something. Two days off throwing up is going to leave me with a lot to do over the next few weeks... Counting the days until my holiday!

misshoohaa · 02/04/2014 14:58

Exhausted.com

That is all I can muster to add to the thread! Smile

rainbowweaver · 03/04/2014 02:16

Hello everyone, work slightly less busy at the moment so coming out of lurk mode...
Speaking of caffeine, been having coke cravings after each lunch time, earl grey tea cravings at breakfast. Apparently 2 cups of coffee a day is fine. I have managed to resist the coke for a while but will no doubt succumb again soon.
My maternity plan cover is to delegate all of my work to my reports, who are very keen. And doing keeping in touch days once a month :)

Poetschild · 03/04/2014 07:07

I've been having the odd tea or coffee. Sometimes I just need the caffeine boost!

Redcliff · 03/04/2014 07:45

I have still been drinking diet coke (find the red can too sweet) and my nutritionist (NHS due to my high BMI) says that caffeine wise 4 to day is fine. I couldn't make it trough the day with no caffeine !

Redcliff · 03/04/2014 07:49

Also trying to find maternity cover - was meant to interview last week but only one showed (the rest were sick) and he was not for us so are interviewing again today. Can everyone keep their fingers crossed for me - really want to get this sorted.

Sareva · 03/04/2014 16:19

Fingers crossed Redcliff - hope you had more success today.

For those of you getting Braxton hicks are you getting period type pains with them. I've been having Braxton hicks for the last few weeks, but for the past couple of days I've been getting menstrual type pains - is it growing pains, or a UTI? By the way I have been to the toilet, I thought it may be this at first but it's still persisting.

Redcliff · 03/04/2014 17:34

Your finger crossing work - got someone great and she can start next week! Phew - so relived!

Are braxton hicks something that tighten your whole tummy - I have bits of tightness on bits of my tummy but thought that was baby pressing his head against me having a stretch.

Liquidambar · 04/04/2014 09:16

Sareva BH are usually uncomfortable but not painful. Monitor how regularly/irregularly you are having them and call the hospital/triage if you have any doubts.

Sareva · 04/04/2014 20:43

Great news Red! Yes that's Braxton Hicks!
Thanks Liquid - will monitor and call the hospital. The period type pains seem to have tailed of today so I'm hoping they don't return.
Have a lovely weekend all

ElizaB3 · 04/04/2014 22:35

Hi everyone, have been on holiday; start my mat cover handover from Monday - that makes it more real! Glad everyone's progressing well.

Question for those planning on breastfeeding; other than the obvious what do you need?! - do you buy any bottles as back up or for expressing? Then you need sterilising stuff? Electric vs hand breast pumps? Stood in front of the feeding bay in John Lewis - how do you know what type of bottle to chose?!

Ha, as you can see I don't know where to start on this one

Thanks in advance!

2blessed · 05/04/2014 03:20

I bf my son and I started out with 6 bottles. I had a manual pump but treating myself to an electric one this time round. You will also need a steriliser (microwave?) and bottle brush.

Redcliff · 05/04/2014 10:26

Last time I brought a steriliser and bottles and a pump - I wasn't very good at pumping but must have used them a bit as remember others babysitting a couple of times.

Sounds like I have been having braxton hicks without knowing it! Sorry to hear about everyone's pains - I had the most incredible pain in the top if my legs the other day and a suddenly sore under tummy but they don't last for long.
