Last time I brought a steriliser and bottles and a pump - I wasn't very good at pumping but must have used them a bit as remember others babysitting a couple of times.

Sounds like I have been having braxton hicks without knowing it! Sorry to hear about everyone's pains - I had the most incredible pain in the top if my legs the other day and a suddenly sore under tummy but they don't last for long.

Redcliff · 06/04/2014 08:55

Can make it so more real cant it. Did it look good ? I remember on our one there was so many people they had to split us into two groups and no one chair was offered to anyone waiting!

Stacks · 06/04/2014 13:27

It's been so long since I updated if fallen off the thread (again). Anyone else hit a wall of tired recently? It's probably not helped by an ill DH at the start of the week, and an ill or teething toddler for the last 1.5 weeks. At the PIL today and am currently sat alone in a sunken living room while everyone else is outside with DS doing something. I don't know what, and don't really care!

I bf last time and didn't have any bottles or anything. If you need them there's always a 24hr supermarket nearby you can get them from. At about 3 weeks in though I suddenly got very stressed about the whole thing though, and bought myself an 'emergency' bottle and carton of premade formula. I felt really pressured at the thought of DS starving if I couldn't feed him one time, and just got very emotional and crazy. I never used them, but it helped my mental health having them there.

The midwives should/can teach you how to hand express while you're in the unit. So you shouldn't really need a pump either, unless you want one.

mylittlel · 06/04/2014 15:48

Redcliff, i think we had 4-5 couples, it was ok ish, i think the biggest room was with the pool and we aim to get this room, was a bit disappointed that they dont have private rooms, im not sure i want to stay with everyone else after giving birth, but they were reassuring saying its best things to be there with everyone, sounded as if they dont want too much hassle

Mitchell2 · 06/04/2014 17:54

How's everyone going this weekend? Finally managed to buy some bits for the hospital bag ... 30 weeks tomorrow so thought best get cracking as the time is flying by :D had a busy weekend but now knackered and the thought of working tomorrow is making me even more tired!

CleverOl10 · 06/04/2014 18:52

Random one here but wondering if this is a pregnancy symptom or just weird! I have always had quite hairy arms, but recently have noticed at patches near the wrist end of both arms are stubbly like I've shaved them (I never have) so presume the hair is falling out or stopping growing. The rest of my arms (and all other hair) is growing normally. Am I going mad?!

Redcliff · 07/04/2014 08:38

Am sure your not going mad - I know pregnancy can affect hair growth and even though I have not heard of your thing before I am sure it's just a pregnancy thing. Also pretty shattered - had a busy Saturday - lots of cleaning :( but then pal came over (which is why I was cleaning) with her little boy so went to the park . Then DP baby sat so me and pal could go out for dinner and a movie! Sun was very lazy but still feeling bluh.

Liquidambar · 07/04/2014 11:42

clever it must be something hormonal pregnancy related. one of those strange things Smile

Jessiebaba · 07/04/2014 12:41

I'm planning to breastfeed so wasn't going to bother with bottles or any other equipment until I see how things go. As stacks has said - shops are open 24 hours so if I'm desperate, DP can always rush out and get the necessary. I just don't really see the point in spending money when I don't know if I'll need/use bottles/steriliser/pump etc

I don't think we get a tour of our hospital but there is a 'virtual tour' you can do online which is quite handy. The hospital is brand new so the rooms look lovely Smile Well...as lovely as they can be!

SophiePickle · 09/04/2014 01:26

Oooooh hi. Due 19th June. Just found this now. First baby :)

misshoohaa · 09/04/2014 07:54

Welcome Sophie!

So actually started getting organised yesterday, sorted out all DS1's baby stuff and worked out what we need for the new baby. The shopping list isn't too long but we do need a new car seat as the old one has gone mouldy!

We had to keep it in the shed as no storage inside and it's gone a bit funky!

DH thinks its fine but no way am I putting my precious bundle in a seat with mould on the straps.

We're also contemplating an oyster max as well, a little bit of me is expecting this will be number 2 of 3 DC's so might upgrade to a double now and get some use out of it as DS loves going in the buggy still at nearly 3 years old! I've loved my baby jogger city mini but its apparently rubbish with a buggy board.

Hope everyone is feeling good. Grin

Mitchell2 · 09/04/2014 07:56

Welcome! There is also a private FB group running alongside this thread, it's totally private - so if your interested PM your email and I can send you an invite. Otherwise there are some who just chat here and a few of us who do both Smile

Mitchell2 · 09/04/2014 07:58

Misshooha, it's funny - I've been slowly buying things but for some reason a pram is something that I've been putting off - I think that's what will make it's really real for me (somehow my growing alien belly isn't enough Grin)

mylittlel · 09/04/2014 12:19

ladies, did any of you experience a pain in a chest? kind of between breast?! i had it first time round after whooping cough vaccination, dont know if its connected and now today just feels uncomfortable

misshoohaa · 09/04/2014 12:33

Mylittle nope - but it could be pressure from organs being bumped up? Hope it stops soon! Pregnancy does weird things, my stomach has been decidedly iffy the last few weeks, ranging from being blocked up to rushing to the loo, not good!

Mitchell - buggies are such a pain in the arse, although essential! I've been so pleased with our buggy up until now, the research in trying to get it right is wearing thin! A lot of boxes to tick including:

Double that can also be a single with a buggy board
Not too heavy
Fits in a corsa boot
Has the baby closest to handle in a bassinet
Toddler can face outwards
Easy to fold
Seat can fit a nearly 3 year old
Takes a maxi cosi car seat
Single door width

My choices it seems are a city select or an oyster max, love the select but seemed pretty chunky, yet to see the oyster in person but hoping to tomorrow! Any advice welcome! Grin

Jessiebaba · 09/04/2014 12:54

I haven't had any pain there mylittlel. I have had a lot of pain in my right ribs and according to the midwife it's because of the way the baby is lying - with her bum right up there! I'm not sure if the baby's position would affect as high up as your chest though? Maybe best to get it checked out if you're worried.

Hope everyone else is well. Welcome Sophie Smile My back is starting to give me grief again but I think it's because I didn't go swimming last week due to my cold. Going to go swimming tomorrow night so hopefully that will help!

noseymcposey · 09/04/2014 14:00

Knackered here too! Was feeling pretty good until a couple of weeks ago and now definitely feeling third-trimestery!

Does anyone else feel breathless when they get Braxton hicks? It's really unpleasant. If I stand for more than about ten minutes or walking bump goes tight and uncomfortable and I feel breathless. Is that normal?

I don't think I ever got BH with DS so this is a new on one me and I seems to happen all the time. I am hoping that means labour might progress quicker this time as last time even though I was a drip to be induced it took 36hrs to get to 10cm and then I was C-sectioned anyway!

Redcliff · 09/04/2014 18:43

I didn't get braxton hicks last time and have them big time at the moment. Have been breathless a lot as well but oddly haven't connected the two. I got my pram and sling today - feels even more real now.

Hi Sophie - lovely to have another newbie :)

Liquidambar · 09/04/2014 21:25

I am getting loads of BH and I am breathless as well... but I had never connected the two. I will pay more attention to see if they are related.

I gave my moses basket to a friend. Her baby was in the neonatal unit for almost a month. He is doing really well now but he is still tiny and I do not think I will get the moses basket on time. I might need to buy a new one!

Welcome Sophie

Redcliff · 09/04/2014 21:56

What a lovely friend you are. Our Moses basket is in our garage - hope its in a good enough state.

ElizaB3 · 09/04/2014 22:09

Thanks for the feeding feedback - I think I am guilty of forgetting shops will still be open post-baby!
Got a Theraline maternity pillow - no idea how I lived without it!
People are starting to think about hospital bags then; what's going in?

Mitchell2 · 09/04/2014 23:24

I've started my bag ( well it's just a pile of stuff on the floor!). Currently I have a very random list!

Pads (breast, maternity)
Some pre made newborn formula ( not sure if I will BF so just in case)
Tankini (hope to have water birth)
Some new large knickers
Water wipes
Newborn nappies
Some Capri sun juice drinks (they were on sale at the pound shop so thought was quite practical)
Some sweets
Toiletry bag with essentials (already had this as I travel a bit for work so have one ready to go when needed)

Still missing quite a bit but I'm 30+2 so figure I'll just add to the pile over the next few weeks Grin

jaykay987 · 10/04/2014 06:03

Mitchell - where did you get the pre made formula from? I can't seem to find it.
