Like your counting! My legs have got much worse - had to lie on my bed tonight when I was meant to be running a bath as I couldn't make it to the bathroom ! I hope I don't have limp into work tomorrow !

Stacks · 26/03/2014 19:15

She didn't say why 10 days Marlena, I did ask if there could be any leeway closer to the time, and she said "you can always cancel" so I guess I could choose to go further overdue. 14 days is the longest they like to leave you here, and once you hit that you're high risk and have to stay in hospital. I think you can argue your due date with the midwife though, if you're fairly sure of your conception date.

I've had awful backache for the last couple of weeks, it's lower back, but sounds similar - sore when moving my legs while sitting, if I'm in the car and have to hold myself upright against the GeForce (should that be capitalised? Why did my phone do that?) of turning corners. Also very sore leaning forward, standing up, or changing position when sitting. I think it's all the spd/si joint dysfunction pregnancy stuff. Chat to your midwife, and see if there's a physio service available to you mylittle.

Not much going on here, DS has been very generous and shared his latest cold, so I feel like crap. Early night tonight I think. I'm looking forward to Friday though, I'm doing a clothes swap with a friend - everything I've ever bought for DS, for her complete set of girls clothes. :)
There's a sale on quite local at the weekend too, which I might try and hit for some baby stuff as well as stuff for DS. I need things like crib/moses basket, bouncer chair/baby swing... I borrowed it all from my sister for DS, but our second babies are too close in age for me to borrow again. Poor planning on my part!

mylittlel · 26/03/2014 21:47

Thanks, Stacks, seeing mw tomorrow so will mention this, someone suggested i might have sciatica, so will mention all suggestions to her)

Redcliff · 27/03/2014 08:23

I had a sharpe pain in my tummy last night - clearly being poked from the inside ! Very odd sensation . Was sick this morning - really thought that would be done with by now. I am also a nervous as I am interviewing my mat cover today and it makes the whole thing more real.

Mitchell2 · 27/03/2014 11:30

mylittlel - I get Sciatica and it does sound like it could be that. Physio will help if it is, alternatively I find sitting on a tennis ball to massage deep into the area also alleviates the pain. You can also do stretches but I am finding that its almost impossible to do them now I have a huge bump on the front!

My latest worry has been reduced movements. Miss squirmie just hasnt been moving as much and not as expected so I have spend A LOT of time just lying in bed to see if it improves. My midwife is a bit crap so I think that if I am not that comfortable after tonights 'lay and see if she kicks me' I'll call the hospital. I saw the MW yesterday and heartbeat was ok, and she has been moving a little bit but def not as much as she was before Sunday. Its so hard to tell if I am being over cautious or not!

mylittlel · 27/03/2014 14:43

had my 28 weeks appt with mw, and i met 4th midwife, mine always somewhere else, but this one i liked more than others, we had a chat about breastfeeding, she gave me few leaflets and dvd, and we booked me in for a free breastfeeding session in a local children's centre, reminded me about maternity unit tour and whooping cough both i booked beforehand) i was also told that a hv or mw will come in first 24 hours of baby's life, and then 72 hours and will have few more visits. She also mentioned not to give bottle to a baby for at least first 4-5 weeks, which im happy with, oh and i measure 26, she said its ok, well i hope so and also reffered me to see physiotherapist with my SPD

Redcliff · 27/03/2014 20:15

Glad you had a good appointment - I know from being on here the standard of care is a bit hit and miss. I have seen a couple of different one and its nice when you feel informed .

Sussex31 · 27/03/2014 20:34

I had my 28 week appointment today also. It seemed a bit more rushed than the one I had 3 weeks ago and I wish I had remembered to ask about the whooping cough jab.

Blood pressure, tests and measurements were all good though so I am happy :)

I had a physio appointment yesterday to help with my hypermobile hips so I have some exercises to strengthen up the muscles. Now to remember to do them...

Hope your little one's movements pick up Mitchell

Redcliff were you moving slightly awkwardly, like bending or twisting, when you got the poke? I have had sharp pokes a few times when turning over in bed and never sure whether it is baby or just ligaments doing their thing.

CleverOl10 · 27/03/2014 20:35

Sussex - I was told whooping cough jab is booked through GP not MW if that helps.

Sussex31 · 27/03/2014 20:46

Ah thanks Clever

Mitchell2 · 27/03/2014 22:18

Thanks Sussex. She's picked up today so am relieved but going to keep an eye on it!

MarlenaGru · 28/03/2014 07:23

At work super early as I am off this afternoon for a weekend away with NCT friends. Can't wait although not looking forward to being the only sober one. Lovely for the kids to have some fun together!

Slightly stressed for a meeting today but after that it is weekend!

Expectingtwins1975 · 28/03/2014 09:19

Ive noticed a couple of times where Ive had a lot of movement from baby its when ive been hungry (normally I dont feel her very much). The other day at work when I had been stuck in a meeting for several hours she was going crazy - like she was practicing for a gymnastics routine, then last night I was lying awake at around 3am again really hungry and she started going mad again.

Wonder if there is any link to being hungry and movements maybe something to do with blood sugar levels???

Mitchell2 · 28/03/2014 16:25

Expecting, mine seems to be the opposite and I usually can get her move only after I've eaten!

Speaking of eating EVERYTHING is giving me indigestion at the moment Confused and gaviscon, yogurt etc is not helping!

Expectingtwins1975 · 28/03/2014 17:22

Likewise Mitchell re the indigestion .... Takes the joy out of eating knowing you are going to suffer for it later. My OH has a massive stash of omeprazole which is coming in handy

Stacks · 28/03/2014 18:15

Omeprazole is amazing stuff expecting :)

If you can't get it though Mitchell then try a hot drink to soothe it, I've always found that helps. Yoghurt and milk give me short term relief but actually cause me more indigestion later, as they're quite fatty. I drink normal (decaf) tea, but peppermint, ginger or even fruit teas are good too.

Mitchell I think the standard advice for movement is a cold or sugary drink. When I was being induced with DS he wasn't moving enough for their liking on the monitor, so they made me eat ice chips every time he stopped! Worked great.

Marlena enjoy your weekend! What are you off doing? I need to arrange to meet up with my nct group, I've not seen them since May. Everyone seems to have got busy and gone back to work and sort of dropped off the radar. It's lovely you've obviously stayed in good contact.

Glad to hear some good 28w appointments have been had. Mine is next week I think, or maybe the week after Hmm it's early April anyways. It's another blood test appointment isn't it?

Things are ok here, DS is ill though. First time he's ever been properly sick (he's 15m, I've been super lucky to avoid it this long), and I was disgusted by my own baby :( I coped though, stripped him and his bed, got him washed, and even cuddled a sicky smelling boy until DH came home. He smelt like Parmesan [wretches]. He's in the bath now, hopefully he'll come out smelling soapy and clean.

Liquidambar · 28/03/2014 20:43

Mitchell I can't cope with Gaviscon. The smell, the texture makes me even more sick!

Stack Hope your DS is on the mend. It is unbelievable what you do as mother without even realising it - you just do it. I remember the first time my DS was ill, he was 11 months old, shortly after we stopped breastfeeding.

Marlena have a great weekend!

expecting I usually notice more movements after my meals.

Hope everyone will have a good weekend.

Redcliff · 28/03/2014 21:11

It's awful when their sick so well done for dealing so well with it. Going away for the weekend sounds great but would shatter me at the moment.

panicmechanic · 30/03/2014 00:23

Hello lovely to hear all the news. I had a scan and consultant appt yesterday. No change re the vasau Praevia but I now also have a low lying placenta so just need to keep an eye on it. Have already resigned myself to the Cs so this isn't going to change anything. I have really got a lot bigger in the past two weeks and struggling to keep up with my 3yr old! Also very out of puff! Had a gtt today so completely sugared out - if I get a positive then I really feel jinxed in this pregnancy. Hope you all have lovely mothers (and mums to be) days!

MarlenaGru · 30/03/2014 14:38

We had a lovely weekend thanks, went to longleat. Unfortunately we have spent an awful lot of it stuck in London traffic.

Realised that as I am 28 weeks yesterday I have finally hit the third trimester! Told DH he can expect me to be even more tired to which he replied "oh and what about even more grumpy?" Definitely the way to ensure I am grumpy! Angry

Can't believe today is an even shorter Sunday than normal so back to work even earlier than normal tomorrow. Stressful day ahead but steak with a good friend for dinner will definitely help!

Redcliff · 31/03/2014 08:40

Steak dinner sounds yummy. Had a lovely lazy day yesterday but boy - losing that hour of sleep has really hit me hard. Had a bit of a fantasy of ringing in sick and sleeping all morning but couldn't bring my self to do it.

Can't believe the 3rd trimester is here - feels such a short time ago I got that amazingly unexpected line on that all important test. How is everyone feeling?

Mitchell2 · 31/03/2014 11:23

Redcliff - that hour loss completely messed with me! Couldn't drag my ass out of bed this morning and absolutely shattered today. Currently at my desk at work wanting to crawl under it and curl up for a nap!

Jessiebaba · 31/03/2014 12:42

Only just 27 weeks today so not quite at the 3rd trimester yet but I'm choked with the cold so feel awful Sad

Apart from the cold, I'm actually feeling OK. Bit of heartburn/indigestion and some slight pelvic pain but on the whole, I really can't complain.

Just wish this bloody cold would buggar off!!

Redcliff · 31/03/2014 19:39

Colds are horrible - hope you feel better soon. Glad it wasn't just me that missed that hour!

Stacks · 31/03/2014 19:50

My DS was up at 6:30 Sunday morning - the old 5:30! I didn't realise as I checked my auto-updating phone clock when he woke up, so just got him up as normal. Only when I saw a good old fashioned clock I realised my mistake, and by then he was wanting breakfast. So, not a kind start to Mother's Day, but a good way of adapting to the new time. DH was soo tired that my promised pancakes in bed was downgraded to weetabix, without tea!

DS is still not well though, so with the early start and illness he at least went to bed no trouble and slept all night, even gave me a lay in this morning. Which unfortunately was somewhat undermined by an ill DH who woke me a bunch in the night being sick. Ah well.
