We just bought new sofa/arm chair/ottoman, but I'm sure it'll be fine. They're able to be wiped clean..

Vickyvix · 20/03/2014 18:14

Ooh I think I need to do a count down of days left at work, haven't checked for a little while.

Off to give the nursery another coat of paint before DH gets home :)

I think I may have to get one of these wedge pillows, I've begun getting really painful hips in bed when I sleep on my side and nothing so far seems to help

CleverOl10 · 20/03/2014 18:22

Mothercare had some ok nighties with poppers on so you can breastfeed. I must admit though last time I spent more time wearing my jogging bottoms in hospital as I didn't want to wear a nightie after the birth and was in a couple of days.

misshoohaa · 20/03/2014 19:26

Lmf - jojo's have some new hospital wear in their range, kind of a cross between a wrap dress and a nighty.

Essential item is lots of pairs of big black knickers!

Redcliff · 20/03/2014 20:08

Lmf679 - thanks for the reply. I am interviewing for my mat cover next week - did you go for someone who worked n the same way as you or was that not really a consideration?

MarlenaGru · 20/03/2014 20:30

I had a stretchy sleeveless nightie last time and it stretched for breast feeding but wasn't maternity. My boobs are too big for their built in bra things they do in feeding nighties. I am going to seek out a few like last time or of will just re-wear the 6 year old one from last time Blush

dramajustfollowsme · 20/03/2014 21:39

I'm just going to take a nightie for labour but pjs if I have to stay in longer. I actually never used one last time as they have me a rather fetching gown!
I felt a bit exposed in a nightie last time on the ward. I liked my dark coloured pj bottoms in case of bleeding.
I think the hospital will be unbearably hot. It was bad enough end of April 3 years ago, think June/July will be worse.

Lmf679 · 20/03/2014 22:21

redcliff I did actually go with someone who worked in a similar way as I wanted the team to be comfortable. Think it makes for an easier transition for everyone, plus, when you go back hopefully there won't be too many changes and it will be easier to get back in the swing of things

Redcliff · 20/03/2014 23:01

Thanks - that makes compleat sense. I know one of the internal candidates and she is very nice (and technically good ) but we have very different styles and approaches (I am s bit of a risk taker and she is not to say the least) so it's something worth thinking about.

Redcliff · 21/03/2014 09:33

Just waiting for my GTT test - left my notes at

Redcliff · 21/03/2014 09:44

Just had my GTT test and have the 2 hour wait in hospital for the next part. Kid sitting next to me has a packet of mini digestives - do going to have to move before I break my fast by grabbing one off him.

Redcliff · 21/03/2014 09:46

Just relished I sent an in compleat message - meant to say left my notes at home and had to go back for them, missed my bus and was really late - not my day so far.

wispaxmas · 21/03/2014 11:40

Redcliff, haha!! Sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh, but the digestives comment was too much. Did you resist? Have you managed to get anything to eat yet?

Sareva · 21/03/2014 12:13

Redcliff -That was me on Monday! Thankfully got my GTT test results back and they were normal, hope yours are to.
Had my Anti D yesterday, this must be the 5th time i've had it but it still hurts like hell.
Anybody else had a growth scan? I had one on Monday and was a bit upset as the locum sonographer said the baby's femur was measuring on the 5th percentile. This is the first time i've had a 28 week scan in pregnancy so not sure if this is how my babies grow? Baby was on the 50th percentile at anomaly scan. Sonographer then said she had to go and seek a colleague's opinion, further panicking me, then she came back and said thats fine and they'll see me for a 36 week scan. Do you think i should book a private scan or is there really nothing to worry about??

BEEwitched · 21/03/2014 12:30

Silly question, but do people in your family generally have short legs? What was the overall percentile they came up with in the end? Mine seems to be 50th percentile overall, but the tummy is only around the 40th or so, the head however measures quite a bit larger, so think variations are completely normal - esp. if they said it's ok until wk 36, I'm sure if they were really worried they would book another scan sooner.

Anyone know about snacks in labour when you've been diagnosed with GD? My sugar levels are all well within range even when I have the odd handful of chocolate, now I'm suddenly worried they'll police what I can snack on while waiting to push this one out! Food is such a control issue for me, this whole pregnancy has been so hard being constantly confronted with my issues. Bah.

Sareva · 21/03/2014 12:44

Bee - LOL you know i actually looked at my legs to answer this one, but without a doubt i'm not of the long legged variety. I'm 5ft 5, DH probably 5 ft 10. And on both sides, probably short with both our fathers being quite tall, over 6ft. Also our daughters were both quite petite, so i'm probably worrying unecessarily because thats all i seem to do, instead of trying to enjoy the home stretch.

Sareva · 21/03/2014 12:47

Bee - sorry Head, Tummy, Arms were all on 50th percentile. Estimated fetal weight was about 2lbs, but as they use the femur length to calculate this it was on the 5th percentile also.

MarlenaGru · 21/03/2014 17:04

BEE I would imagine by labour you can't be doing any damage to the baby so I can't see why you can't have sweets. I had a beer in early labour last time as it seemed like a good idea. It wasn't. It made me sick.

I also don't remember eating any of my snacks. I was very thirsty but was sick quite a lot so had virtually no food until afterwards.

Liquidambar · 21/03/2014 17:16

Sareva if they are happy to wait until 36 weeks it is nothing to worry about.

bee could you ask your nutritionist for some tips on things you want to eat. If anyone makes a funny face you can always say you are following your nutritionists orders!

Had my appointment his morning and it was a bit emotional (yes, I cried in front of the mw Blush). Thank god she was really nice and very supportive and she will see me again in two weeks time. I had a difficult week with a stomach bug and loads of tightening. Apart from protein in my urine (which was sent to the lab), I'm measuring 28.5 and heartbeat was fine too. She told me to rest as much as possible and relax and she also thinks that I have an irritable uterus which is not helping.

BEEwitched · 21/03/2014 19:36

It's probably a silly thing to worry about, I doubt I'll even feel like eating though if they have to induce me it could take a while....

Liquidambar · 21/03/2014 20:30

Bee I was in the labour suit for 32 hours and likewise Marlena I don't remember eating many snacks either. I just remember the tea and toast after birth! It was the best tea and toast ever :-)

bellygazing · 21/03/2014 21:16

So who is first to go on mat leave? At the moment it looks like I'll finish on 30th May but still have 4 days hol to take so may finish before the bank holiday on 23rd. Anyone organised enough on and not on phone want to start a list?

MinaLeeds · 21/03/2014 22:27

I've got 10 days of work left (works out to 4 weeks as I'm part time) and 3 weeks of holiday left. I've decided to go on holiday/research trip next week, come back late April, work for 3 weeks(ish), then leave for ML on the 13th of May. I wish I could leave work today but that would be a foolish financial move!

On the awesome plus side, I seem to have managed to convince my mum that a home birth is the way to go (something I would never have thought I'd manage to do!). We've reached a compromise in that we'll stay at home for as long as nobody starts panicking but if any one starts to majorly freak out (by anyone I think she means me, her & DH) then we're off to the hospital. I think I can cope with that. Lol! So I've started the ball rolling with renting a birthing pool. So so happy that she's come round! I was expecting another major home birth vs hospital battle with her!

MrsCharlieD · 22/03/2014 08:56

Another Facebooker here. Sorry for abandoning the ship! I just counted i have 29 working days to go until i finish for mat leave. It cannot come quick enough. Im 29 weeks today. eek! Hope everyone is ok x

jaykay987 · 22/03/2014 10:54

all this counting is making me jealous! (off to check calender......)
