Welcome cnew

Eliza we're the same- not finding out gender before the birth but suspect another boy here ad well (we have 2 ds's at the moment). No preference for which flavour this time but just have a feeling that it is a boy shaped baby :) I can totally understand why some folks like to find out early what they are having. For us we have just loved the additional excitement of being told at the moment of birth- it's been dh's job both to limed to tell me what we've got :)

LadyGoneGaga · 08/02/2014 22:10

Spud I have a Lascal Maxi which I used last time for DS to ride on the back of DD's buggies. I think they are a fairly universal fit but there is a doc online that tells you if it fits your buggy. It worked fine on my Sola and my Maclaren. Will be using it again as age gap will be 2.11 so fairly similar. Although she still likes to ride in the buggy. Hmm, can't justify a double though at the age of 3 unless one comes up mega-cheap!

I posted on fb, but haven't had a chance to post here. Got to scan on time (just) and got seen immediately which was nice. All looked good and we've found out we're on team pink! We're both pretty excited to be having a girl, but DH was over the moon with the news :)

Welcome to the new folks, this is a lovely thread, even if it does move a little too quick to keep up sometimes!

GillyBillyWilly · 09/02/2014 08:19

Ahhhhh I got bumped off this thread.... Must post more!
Getting sucked into the Facebook group and sometimes forget about mumsnet Blush
Hope everyone's doing great Smile

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and starting to feel like all of a sudden I'm getting BIGGER! Colleagues are starting to say "oooooh you've got a proper bump now!" And I feel like it's bigger every day... Which of course IT IS! Grin Just haven't really noticed it until now!

Feeling movements every day now which is lovely, looking forward to my next midwife appointment which is on 19th feb.

We haven't found out the gender either but I'm very curious and literally have no gut feeling whether it's a boy or a girl so will just wait and see! Grin

Hi ladies, congrats on all the scans! Our little one has been scanned 5 times this week and all is great with the baby. Had a funny moment at the hospital this week were a student doc asked the consultant if the problem was caused by my 'unusual maturity'. I had to laugh! The consultant was mortified and said no it wasn't and I am not old! FMC consultant (who is great) confirmed my condition and the latest plan is to have a CS at 35 weeks with steroids at 32 weeks. So at least I have a firm plan now. Not sure how I am going to manage a 3 yo and recovering from CS but millions have before so I am sure I will cope. They also ssid the baby will not leave hospital for at least a week.

Redcliff · 09/02/2014 11:23

Good to see you back gilly and I know what you mean about bump. Someone at work is due in may and compared to me her bump is tiny although also getting bigger. 24 weeks feels like a big deal to me too - not to far off now.

LemonLovely · 09/02/2014 11:56

Hi everyone, can I join this thread please? I'm 18+1 with twins, and my mid-July due date has been bumped forward to June 21st. Would be fab if someone could add me to the list next time it's updated. Cheers!

MarlenaGru · 09/02/2014 18:05

panic that is good to have a plan. I have a friend who had a 5 YO, 2 YO and had a section so it definitely is possible! At least you will have a week with baby getting lots of help so that will be much easier for you.

Hi LemonLovely. We are due the same day then (although I am guessing you are more likely to have babies then than I am as my first was very late!)

Redcliff · 09/02/2014 18:29

Hi lemon - lovely to have another new joiner.

I finally packed away clothes I can't wear right now due to ever expanding tummy. Also had a quick look at baby clothes pal has given me. There are a couple of bags labeled "teeny tiny sleep suits " plus a ton of other stuff including stuff I gave her that my DS had grown out off which brought back so many memories . He was "helping" tidy up and we held things against him and couldn't believe he had ever fitted in them.

jaykay987 · 10/02/2014 06:01

Good morning!

Anyone doing anything exciting today?

I'm suffering with horrendous nausea this morning. Urgh! Thought I should be over this by now Hmm

Craving a potato based breakfast....that's not going to happenM. Wish my fridge would stock itself based on my current cravings. I just can't keep up - I only buy food based on last weeks cravings!

Redcliff · 10/02/2014 08:24

Mourning J Kay - am on a half day today so can pick DS up from school so a tiny bit exciting.

That fridge idea sounds wonderful - I had a prawn cocktail crisps craving a few weeks ago and none to be found.

Redcliff · 10/02/2014 08:26

PS also feeling sick this morning and heaved getting the milk out of the fridge. Even my DP said "shouldn't that have stopped by now" hope you feel better.

I am constantly starving at the moment, but I'm trying to stick to a certain amount of calories (basal metabolic rate) and it seems to be an ok balance between eating ALL the things and not being happy about my food.

I fancy random things late at night, I've started reading a lot of German blogs recently and everytime someone mentions a familiar comfort food I want it NOW but of course can never get it.

Midwife appointment in an hour, yet another new midwife - I think I'm on my 5th now!

Jessiebaba · 10/02/2014 10:21

Welcome to the newbies Smile

I've got my 20 week scan at half 1 this afternoon. Feeling the usual pre-scan mix of nerves & excitement. We already know we're having a girl (had a baby bond scan last weekend) so just hope she's in a good position so they can check everything and that she's OK. FX!

I've not been able to focus on work at all this morning - can't wait to get to lunchtime so I can head off to the hospital.

Hope it goes well for anyone else having scans/mw appointments today as well!

Jessiebaba · 10/02/2014 10:47

Forgot to say - that's good news panic, sounds really positive Smile

mylittlel · 10/02/2014 12:52

Ladies question for you- which washing powder to use for babies? are there any other value options i.e. own brands non bio washing powders?

LadyGoneGaga · 10/02/2014 13:16

I tend to use non-bio whilst newborn and then switch to bio (you need it for the poonamis and weaning). But mine were never sensitive to what powder I used. Any old shop's own is fine. When I was having my first (Precious First Born) I bought Dreft soap flakes to wash his baby clothes. Blocked up the machine. Never bothered since!

Sareva · 10/02/2014 13:38

Mylittle - I use non bio, DD1 has eczema (since she was a baby) and we've found that fairy, waitrose sensitive and filetti sensitive don't irritate her skin so hence we use any of them for all of the family. I've not had any problems with non bio and stains but then I do tend to wash on quite a high temp when I'm doing the kids clothes, again because of DD1's eczema.
Good luck with the scan Jessie!

Redcliff · 10/02/2014 14:37

Good luck Jessie ! I am allergic to most own brand washing powder so tend to by arial or similar and use that for all the families clothes .

Jessiebaba · 10/02/2014 17:33

Thanks Sareva & Redcliff

Scan went well - baby is measuring fine but she was lying face down again so the sonographer couldn't see her heart properly to check that. So I have to go back in a couple of weeks so that it can be checked (assuming she's moved!). Smile

MarlenaGru · 10/02/2014 17:36

I use whatever non bio is cheapest or Aldi's if I go there. DD has fairly sensitive skin (recently caught my DM using baby wipes on her face which explains the nasty rash she has had Angry)

Bezzabelle · 10/02/2014 20:03

Hi all, been going between this thread and May one. Also accidentally clicked on the feb one and between the two threads, there has been some sad news. This put things into perspective a little for me as have been stressing about a few things over past week- one, how work is not planning for my maternity leave at all (am finishing on 2nd April at 32 weeks as have to take all my annual leave) so all feels a bit in the air and two, if one more person at work comments on how much bigger my bump this time round is than it was with ds, I think I will become violent or just cry!! However after reading other people's sad news, I have realised neither of those things really matter at all, it's just the control freak in me not being in control and just need to think how lucky I am. Phew, sorry that was a bit deep! Hope everyone ok.
