MrsBon my scan was £39 it depends if you want 3D or 4D how long for what for whether you want to come out with videos & teddies that play your babies heart beat etc etc etc

Also groupon often do deals on private scans

Hi everyone. I have been lurking for a while but never got round to posting. I'm due 26th June with number 2. I'm feeling really sorry for myself I have some knod of virus, sore throat aches, head ache and generally feeling rubbish. Unfortunately hubby is working today so I have a demanding 2.5 year old to entertain :( oh and a horse and 2 dogs !
I still haven't told work or to many people yet. Was planning on telling work next week. Both times i really don't feel pregnant till the 20wk scan. I ban everyone from buying anything till after 20 weeks !! I'm sure they think I'm crazy !

Hello ladies so lovely to read all of the progress stories. Thought I would give you the heads up in my
news as i have been reading and not posting. i went for a private scan a fmc on thursday and the baby is fine very wriggly and naughty for the scan but my problem with my placenta unfortunately doesn't seem to have gone away. Fmc think I have something called Vasa Previa. Basically
the cord is outside of the membrane so is at high risk to rupture as it is very close to the cervix. If it doesn't rupture. I will be given a Caesarian as early as 34 weeks and potentially hospitalised from 32weeks. When known about the chances of the baby surviving are good so
I am relieved we are informed but obviously if the rupture happens early there are risks that I don't even want to think about. I had my 20 week scan at the nhs on friday and they confirmed the same although i had to push them to check as they wouldnt normally check for this at this stage. There is a small chance that the umbilical cord was 'looped' and tricking us but if I am honest fmc are so professional I think their diagnosis is accurate as the vord position has been mentioned before.I have also been referred to a specialist as in their words I need to be 'managed'.

Anyway I am positive about it all and will just have to be super careful while the baby cooks some more.

Not sure who asked about consultant led but I am. They start with routine urine, BP and have a feel around. They ask about how you feel, sometimes get a portable scanning unit in, they get the Doppler and then organise with you the next session/scan. You tend to get more scans etc

Angelina77 · 01/02/2014 10:18

Hi all, just checking in (EDD 22nd June, 20wk scan next Wednesday).

Recovering from a vomiting bug today, hope it hasn't affected the baby. He's probably enjoyed all the extra bubbling and gurgling going on down there, God knows what it must sound like from inside.

BEEwitched · 01/02/2014 12:28

panic I'm glad to hear the FMC is being good about monitoring you - have to say, you have to wonder; if you don't get a scan on the NHS after 20 weeks and they don't check for something like this, how are you supposed to find out?

I know you sadly have pervious history, but for a first-timer that just seems a bit worrying...

panicmechanic · 01/02/2014 14:03

Hi Beewitched, sorry I don't mean to worry anyone that is why I haven't posted until I got the results. I really wouldn't have known about this condition had the sonographer not picked it up at 10 weeks and then the next symptom is a bleed which I had a 18 weeks. I guess if you bleed at all it is best to go to the hospital. I have to say FMC have been very good but so has my NHS hospital in the past. If you are concerned about anything ask for a consultant appt and request a scan at 28 weeks. Try not to worry.

Jessiebaba · 01/02/2014 16:10

Had our gender scan this morning and we're having a girl!! So excited and delighted! Grin

I finally feel like I can relax a bit and start to buy things...bought a couple of wee outfits on the way home from the scan! Blush

Now DP and I just need to start really thinking about girls names. At the moment we can't agree on any!!

panic that all sounds quite scary but glad you're getting the care you need Thanks

BEEwitched · 01/02/2014 17:46

Nah, I'm fine, just glad you're getting the care you need and a bit perplexed that things weren't checked properly - but that's why I've booked another private scan for 28 wks, as that's when you'd get another check up back home. It just feels safer!

Mitchell2 · 01/02/2014 19:45

Panic - sorry to hear the news, but good that the FMC is on the ball. Hope it all progresses well from now on.

Welcome all the newbies and those who are popping in for an update. Am still waiting for the bump to not look like fat and for movements to be a bit more definite - 21 weeks Monday and have my 20 week scan and really really scared. And even more so after I heard that a friend back home had her 20 week scan last week and she had lost the baby Sad Have no idea why, it was her third, so I can just assume it's one of those things but given my lack of regular and definite movements am worried.

Stacks · 02/02/2014 07:40

I bought a pram yesterday! With DS I didn't buy anything till about 30 weeks, so this is a very big and early purchase for me. Got a good deal on eBay for a second hand Baby Jogger Citi Select, it's a single pram that transforms to a double, so I'll be using it for DS till the baby comes :)

Our scan isn't till Friday, looking forward to seeing LO again and hopefully finding out gender. Hoping we'll be in the girl gang, but shall just have to wait and see.

Mitchell try not to worry about your scan, in all likelihood everything will be fine. Really sorry to hear about your friend losing the baby :(

Panic I hope you continue to get good care. It must be scary for you, but good to know you're in good hands.

chestnutmare · 02/02/2014 09:55

Congratulations on your wee girl Jessiebaba! Smile

Redcliff · 02/02/2014 17:36

Hi newbies and great to hear about positive scans. Panic - very impressed about how calm your being and glad your being well looked after.

Had a good trip out with DP and DS but feeling a bit done in after climbing the monument (311 steps - DS is doing the great fire of London) after a couple of rubbish days. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

panicmechanic · 02/02/2014 20:43

Thanks ladies for all of your support. Have a great week ahead.

Vickyvix · 02/02/2014 23:55

panic sorry to hear your news but really glad to hear all is going ok for you so far, it must be very worrying but it sounds like you are getting good care from your consultant etc. I will keep everything crossed for you that things progress well and that baby is allowed to cook for long enough. Take it easy and take good care of yourself (which I have no doubt you are already doing)

jessie congratulations on your little girl!! So exciting :)

Welcome spud

mitchell very best of luck for tomorrow. We have our scan tomorrow too and I'm a bag of nerves, so scared that there could be bad news and struggling to think of anything else. Sorry to hear about your friends sad news.

Mitchell2 · 03/02/2014 10:28

Scan went well. Baby very well behaved, but still all feels a bit surreal! I guess ones she is kicking me in the bladder almost constantly I will then believe there is actually something in there Smile

Vickyvix · 03/02/2014 10:35

Great news Mitchell :)

mylittlel · 03/02/2014 13:01

KR33 · 03/02/2014 16:53

Hi everyone!

Another late joiner here, but due 20-06-14 with dc1. We just had our 20wk scan today and found out we are having a little girl! I was convinced I was having a boy but would've been very happy either way. Just pleased baby is healthy :-)
I was terrified going in (as I was at the 12wk scan) after a mmc last year, and it wasn't helped by the sonographer going completely silent for 5 mins at the start while i couldn't see the screen - the longest 5 mins of my life! But it turns out she was just concentrating deeply on checking all the organs etc.
So far I have only felt fluttering and twitches but baby was wriggling and kicking lots during the scan so I am looking forward to feeling more relaxed as I start to feel more of baby moving about :-)

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up!

MarlenaGru · 03/02/2014 17:39

Welcome KR33
I had my scan today too and very relieved all is well and we managed to stay in the surprise group! Was very worried DH would peek when she told us to look away!

Vickyvix · 03/02/2014 17:52

Welcome KR33 congrats on your scan.

Congrats to you too marlena

Have just got home from our scan. All was well, one very very wriggly baby, and over the moon to report that it is a girl!! Grin

Redcliff · 03/02/2014 18:23
