Congratulations to all who have had their scans! Smile
Redcliff I have the ligament pain.. It can be very difficult specially when lying down in certain positions and getting up..

So how many of us can feel baby movement? Very often/ sometimes? Would just like to know if everyone has a similar experience on that front or it varies..

CleverOl10 · 03/02/2014 19:45

I also get ligament pain, usually after a full day on my feet at work. I develop a preggo lady waddle by about 3pm!

panicmechanic · 03/02/2014 20:48

Congratulations on all the scans - very exciting

Redcliff · 03/02/2014 20:57

It's horrible isn't it - wish it would go away but I guess my body needs to stretch . I have been feeling some movement but not loads - it's more like he's swimming although got a couple of thumps/kicks on Friday.

Bezzabelle · 03/02/2014 21:30

Hi all,
Congrats on good scans.
Movements wise, it has really ramped up in the last week- feeling lots now throughout day and sometimes in night if I turn over, he seems to protest and moves loads. Am 23+ 2 today. One of my Nct friends from first time round had her 2nd baby at 24 weeks two weeks ago and that is a very scary thought that I'm only days away from her. Her little one was 1lb 6 and is fighting away. Very tough.

hackneybird · 03/02/2014 21:50

Bloody hell bezza - 24 weeks! My heart goes out to your friend. I know a couple of people who had preemies at 30 weeks, but 24, wow. I really hope they are all ok.

Good news on all the positive scans, and also that we are getting some girls in the group! Welcome kr33.

panic glad you've been in touch as I was just thinking of you the other day, wondering how you were. Pleased you're getting good care and all is well, long may it continue.

Redcliff · 03/02/2014 23:19

24 weeks! That is scary - I hope they are doing as well as can be expected.

Bezzabelle · 04/02/2014 06:26

Early days at the moment but doing ok.

Can I ask- is everyone planning on having the whooping cough jab at 28 weeks? Wasn't around when I had ds and was just going to go along and have it as I was told but then a colleague made a comment yesterday saying she would never have it so that's made me think!!

GillyBillyWilly · 04/02/2014 07:17

I'm 23+1 today. The thought of having the baby as early as 24 weeks is so scary for so many reasons.
Hope your friends little one makes it Smile

Re movements, im feeling the baby every day now. Particularly in the evening when I settle down for bed but also mid afternoon and sometimes in the morning! Grin
But mostly evening. My husband has felt it move once but normally when he puts his hand on my tummy it stops! Plus DH isn't very patient and can't just sit still and be quiet and wait!
However DH has SEEN it move lots of times! Smile

bezza I hope your friend's baby will be alright, there's a lot they can do nowadays - I will be 24 weeks on Friday and I'll breathe a sigh of relief because if the worst happens there's a good chance of survival.

Yesterday I convinced DH to stay home with me - he had the sniffles and a headache and was going to drag himself to the office but I offered a lazy cuddle day so he stayed home sick. Today he woke up with a raging flu and is vomming away, so whatever it is has gotten a lot worse. Poor man... (and there's a little part thinking 'at least it's not me'...)

GillyBillyWilly · 04/02/2014 07:36

Ohhhh and yes im planning on having whooping cough injection. My next midwife appointment is on 19th feb so I'm assuming it will come up in conversation then.
Also got my anti D injection the week after that!

Redcliff · 04/02/2014 08:04

Does having the whooping cough injection immunise the baby? If so I will have it done I guess. My DP feels that immunisation is "a miracle of the modern age" or something like that and my dad was really sick when he was younger with TB so I tend to take anything that's offered.

My movements tend to stop once DP puts his hand on as well - why is that?

BEEwitched · 04/02/2014 08:17

No jabs of any kind for me, no.

chestnutmare · 04/02/2014 08:26

I'm feeling the baby a lot more too now Gilly, despite my anterior placenta! Smile And DH felt it for the first time last night which was lovely.

We have our babybond rescan after work today so hopefully we'll get some better pictures, since she was way too wriggly at both the first babybond and the 20 week anomaly scan! Every time the sonographer tried to get a photo she'd move so much the image went blurry! Or she'd move into a position that was not photo friendly. It's hard to believe they move around quite so much in there!

Riblet · 04/02/2014 08:50

Hello all,

Not been on much as was off sick last week and I usually come on here during work time Wink

That does sound scary Panic but as others say, you're in the best place to get the care you need - good luck and look after yourself.

God Bezza, 24 weeks! Fingers crossed for your friend and her little one. I am planning to have the whooping cough vaccination and pretty much any other immunisation going. I know there are a lot of scare stories but being a biologist I generally tend to be all for vaccines and try and read the research papers behind stuff if there's any doubt (plus DH is a biologist too and thinks science is the answer to everything - I'd have to have a damn good argument to convince him that vaccination isn't the best thing since sliced bread!)

Re. ligament pain - did have a fair bit from around 14-20 weeks but seems to have eased off a bit now. Was mainly on one side when turning over in bed and sitting up, plus a stitch-like pain when walking for more than about 5 mins. I thought it'd gone off as things had stretched enough for now but saying that I haven't walked much for a couple of weeks so could well be why it's been better.

I haven't felt much movement and nothing I'd really define as kicks- more flutters and twitches. Felt first proper twitch on Saturday and DH managed to feel it too, but just flutters since. One of the placentas is anterior though so they said I probably wouldn't feel much until later. Just as well as I'd probably worry since everyone else seems to be feeling loads! (I'm 21+6)

Stacks · 04/02/2014 09:53

My scan isn't till Friday, getting a little impatient about it. Also quite nervous, but not sure if it's more for the scan, or leaving DS with MIL while we go have it. I've never really left him with anyone, and the scan time is right when he'd normally have his morning nap, so he's going to be tired and grumpy. The scan for some reason is also right in the city center, instead of at the hospital 5 minutes away where all my other scans have been. So we'll be a good 40 minutes from home if anything goes wrong.

Really hope the 24w baby gets on ok, my brother was born extremely premature back in the 80's, he spent a long time in hospital, and was in and out lots through his childhood. He's now got two kids of his own though, so miracles and accidental pregnancies do happen!

mylittlel · 04/02/2014 13:04

Hi ladies, we were in a bit of a shock yesterday, baby is fine, all is well but instead of a very much wanted boy we are having a girl, so we are team pink, need time to get used to it though...any tips on what to do with girls?)

Vickyvix · 04/02/2014 14:28

Glad your scan went well mylittlel

mitchell very best wishes to your friend and her baby born at 24 weeks, I really hope they are doing ok. It is a scary thought to think that baby could arrive so soon.

My husband was very premature way back in the late 70's I'm not sure exactly how many weeks but he was due in August and was born in mid-May. He is now a healthy 6ft 1 man......and that was so long ago that medicine has moved on heaps.

Good luck with your scan stacks

Re movements, I've only felt definite jabs and kicks for a couple of days, just flutters before that but yesterday before our scan she was having a disco party in there :)

Just in waiting room for private growth scan to see if I can solve the conundrum re due dates. NHs scan suggested she was small but nothing to worry about but there's been a question over due date all the way through so I want to get it sorted (and get confirmation that she is definitely a she!)

Vickyvix · 04/02/2014 15:40

Well baby is measuring dot on average for the private consultant due dates, which suggests they are probably right. Unsurprisingly measuring very small for NHS dates which are a week earlier. Panic over re extremely small baby. They confirmed she is indeed she and so I am working to due date of between 20th and 27th June (but more likely the latter).

Mitchell2 · 04/02/2014 15:46

That's great news Vix

SicknSpan · 04/02/2014 16:14

Hi all. Nice to hear all your scans have been good news and feeling the love from your general all round positivity. This is a lovely thread!

I'll be having the whopping cough jab, even though I've had it myself (was 9 at the time, horrible horrible 3 months of coughing until I was sick over and over again, and losing 1/3 of my body weight- maybe I was destined to get hyperemesis all along!)

Have a big old bump now at 23+4, getting loads of Braxton hicks mainly towards the end of the day when I'm tired. Lots earlier this time round but guess that as it's baby no 3 my body is just going "whatever. I know what I'm doing. Let me get on with it." Much respect to ladies on 4 5 or 6!

CleverOl10 · 04/02/2014 18:31

Am also planning on having whooping cough jab as I hear it is to immunise the baby for when they are first born and too young to be jabbed themselves. Sounds sensible to me. Wasn't offered last time.

Stacks · 04/02/2014 19:12

I'll be getting the whooping cough jab again. I had it with DS, it's quick and painless. He was due when the last epidemic was happening, so there was no question for me having it really. That said, for those who're not sure, the main risk to baby is from older siblings or people who are often out and about. If you think it's unlikely anyone will be bringing whooping cough into your house, then the risk of baby catching it is much less.

Mylittle when I was pg with DS I was really scared at the thought of having a girl. I have 4 little brothers and 2 nephews, but have spent very little time around girls. Even as an adult all my friends are boys. That said though, DH admitted before our 20w scan that he wanted a girl, and it got me thinking... When we actually had the scan I was disappointed it was a boy! Take some time, think about your baby as a real little girl, start looking at girl clothes and notice the little girls you see in the street or on the bus. You'll see they're just as cute as boys :) I'm not sure if you're like me, but I found it hard to think of girls as children/babies - I just imagined teenage girls (who I'm secretly terrified of, being an unpopular outcast in an all girls school growing up).

I'm waffling, but my point is, take some time. I'm sure you'll find you like the idea soon :)

Redcliff · 04/02/2014 19:32

I have been feeling some stronger movements today - work has been crazy and I get so focused sometimes that its almost like "what is that - oh yes I have a baby in there . What do brackton hicks feel like -6 don't think I had them lady time round.

After lots of comments about how big my bump us from my manager who joyfully recounted that the head of our department said "is redcliffe sure she's due in June and not earlier " a lovely girl in another department asked me if I had lost weight !

mylittlel · 04/02/2014 19:32

Stacks i had a little cry yesterday, but today i thought that i love this baby regardless and we just have to accept it, and like you said look at girly stuff i think that will put us in a right mood) re teenagers my hubby is scared of girl being teenager but i try to tell him that we need to think few months ahead first) thanks for support)
