I seem to have poped over the last couple of days. I was still on my normal clothes but today I'm wearing a maternity top for the first time and I had to put an elastic on my trousers button to get an extra cm. I think I'll need to go shopping tomorrow to get a decent pair of maternity trousers.

CleverOl10 · 28/01/2014 18:03

Just ordered some more maternity tights. They are amazing - they currently come up over my bra and keep my boobs warm! Wink

There's a good deal this week on eBay for the Mamas and Papas Mylo pram/pushchair 50% off -

Hi ladies, scan went well. Held my guns and didn't find out the sex, almost thought I would cave at one point. Like some other of you, she couldn't get a good view on the heart initially so I had to get up and go to the loo, then come back and it was fine. Baby was tucked up with back against womb so couldn't properly examine spine, so will need to go back. Oddly this doesn't worry me. At the beginning I was convinced something would go wrong but I've felt so much movement I feel pretty good now.

However, I did get a bit of a knock to my confidence. The sonographer was lovely, but reading my notes at the end, I saw she wrote ' restricted view due to increased BMI'. Which made me feel quite shit :(

MarlenaGru · 28/01/2014 19:32

I am trying to decide whether it is acceptable to wear leggings rather than tights with a couple of my dresses to save the few pairs of tights I have?

Redcliff · 28/01/2014 19:42

Where have people got their over the bump jeans from - the only ones I have seen that I liked were about 55 quid and not sure if I can justify that.

Redcliff · 28/01/2014 19:44

Marlena - was also thinking about leggings as I have some from last time around but not sure about having a gap above my shoes iyswim

Expectingtwins1975 · 28/01/2014 19:53

I bought some from next - weren't that expensive (although always falling down but that could just be my weird shape)

MrsBon · 28/01/2014 20:09

Redcliff: I got an over the bump maternity jeans from
Next which is pretty comfortable and doesn't ride up too.. Cost me about 28 pounds but they do maternity clothes only online or something..

CleverOl10 · 28/01/2014 20:29

I'd be unhappy with that comment too Belly. A bit mean really. Just putting restricted view, need to rescan is enough.

MarlenaGru · 28/01/2014 20:36

I have long boots so no problem with gap... Might try on Friday!

mylittlel · 28/01/2014 20:47

bellyhazing my sonographer was the same, on a dating scan she told us that baby is too small to take measurements, and later on i saw in my pregnancy notes she wrote-due to above average bmi could take measurements..i thought its offensive not to say this in my face but write it on a paper

jaykay987 · 29/01/2014 05:09

red Marlena I haven't got any tights yet, so am living in leggings and boots in my dresses. (I would have to move to tights if I didn't have boots).

It's really comfy and warm. I'm just worried how this will work as I get bigger and hotter! I can't get my legs out for work - so when I can't wear maxi dresses I think I'll have to stick to tights which I am not looking forward to! Anyway....given it'll get colder before it gets hotter I'll not worry for now!

CleverOl10 · 29/01/2014 10:46

After seeing a message on here last night, I had a look at Next online. Decided to order a pair of over the bump jeans for £28. This was about 9pm. I'm now sat wearing them! Super fast delivery and really comfy jeans! Win!

Redcliff · 29/01/2014 11:12

Will check out the next ones - thanks for the tip. I got my work trousers from there and they are very comfy. I never think of getting non work clothes from there - no idea why.

Biffle · 29/01/2014 12:20

New Look have quite a nice selection of reasonably priced maternity jeans too and mothercare do some for around £35. On my 12 weeks scan the sonographer wrote resticted view due to increased BMI so I have no doubt my 20 week one next week will say the same. Stupid thing is that technology has advanced so much since my scans with the girls in 2003 / 2005 that even these 'restricted views' are x50 clearer than the ones I had with them when I was slimmer!!

I have a BMI of just over 38 but seen as most of this excess fat is on my bum and thighs it really shouldn't make any difference to scan visibility. Midwife was pleasantly suprised when she felt my bump last week and found the top of my uterus and hertbeat first time as she expected it to be near impossible due to my 'cuddliness' but she was lovely about it!!

Mitchell2 · 29/01/2014 13:12

I have brought some jeans from GAP and ones from topshop. I hate the ones from TS - they have stretched and now fall down. The GAP ones are nice, but I ususally wear their jeans in the first place so the same.

i have not got any maternity tights - still in my control top normal ones (not sure what that says about me and how big I was in the first place!)

carrie105 · 29/01/2014 15:15

My maternity jeans are from Red Herring at Debenhams (£30ish I think).. so far so good. Had them about a fortnight. I did have to go down a size to get them to fit around the thighs as my usual size was coming up quite baggy in that area, so hopefully I wont put a load of weight on my thighs now!

Redcliff · 29/01/2014 17:17

Mitchell2 - don't the control top ones press your tummy down or are they fitting under your bump?

Had my 20 weeks scan today - felt really worried (was saying to DP last night "lets not go - we can just go to the cinema or something" which he very gently said was not going to happen) but all was fine - had to pay a fiver for the pictures but well worth it. As we thought it’s another boy - DS is very happy.

MarlenaGru · 29/01/2014 17:31

Congratulations redcliff
I can't wear normal tights as they have made me feel ill as anything touching my belly does. Annoyingly I have 5 pairs of maternity tights but with two other women wearing tights in the house someone seems to have at least 3 of my pairs! I have got a pile from my mum to check later...

Mitchell2 · 29/01/2014 18:52

Redcliff - they go over my bump and are almost like wearing a supportive band - they are not super super control ones - I think medium from M&S. Very comfortable actually. Congrats on the scan Smile

MrsBon · 29/01/2014 21:45

Anyone had a private scan and know how much it costs? Just wondering since NHS doesn't do any scans after 20 weeks...

jaykay987 · 29/01/2014 21:58

It varies gelt depending where you are in the country. Have a quick google......you'll easily find loads of options.

jaykay987 · 29/01/2014 21:59

Gelt= hugely!!

summerbaby2014 · 29/01/2014 22:58

Mrsbon- it's around £100 depending on what you have
