Jay we don't have a drive so park on street at varying distances so your plan might not be as unrealistic as it first sounded to me considering your 'storage' is right by house. It would be a pain in rain or if baby is asleep you will either need to wait outside or wake them but on the whole probably ok.

Redcliff pillows & duvets along with rolling parents are considered the biggest risk to cosleeping babies & a lot of babies that suffocate had parents that thought one pillow would be ok etc. Most cosleep with baby under duvet (I think - but I'm def no expert) so your option does sound better but I think recommendation is still no as if you pull duvet you could roll baby over in to the bedding, it could easily fold over on to them or you could roll them on to the floor. Chances do seem slim but I think that's the logic for the recommendation anyway.

Bumblebeesmum · 27/01/2014 19:47

Oh and also rolling baby on to floor is not as unlikely as it sounds. We sent our 4 week old flying to the floor by catching a piece of bedding he was lying on having just finished a nightly feed. I think I died for a minute!!!

Redcliff · 27/01/2014 19:59

That makes sense - to be honest we were reluctant co sleepers last time. I grew to like it and the best was when DP would go to work and me and DS would have a feed in bed and then a nap until 10 am or so. Those extra 2 hours of sleep were a life saver. Not sure what's going to happen this time round as will have to do the school run twice a day.

Bumblebeesmum · 27/01/2014 20:14

Redcliff I don't envy those who will have to do school runs!!
I did some super naughty / bad accidental cosleeping once & woke up saw my baby looking at me & nearly had a heart attack which is why I think that bedside attached crib thingie looks ideal for me. :)

SarahAnderson · 27/01/2014 20:15

Who's shifted to maternity clothes and who's still in normal gear? I tried on three skirts this morning before I found one that would fit, and started feeling really uncomfortable towards the end of the day. Tights, too. Too tight. Got so uncomfortable that as soon as I arrived home I grabbed a pair of scissors and CUT the tights down the belly , letting it all hang out. Instant maternity tights!

MarlenaGru · 27/01/2014 20:15

Yip DH rolled 2 day old DD out of the Moses basket and onto the floor. I nearly killed him!

MarlenaGru · 27/01/2014 20:18

I fell asleep holding DD once and woke up not being able to find her. She was luckily right next to me asleep but it was one of the more terrifying moments and from then onwards I always put pillows around me so she wouldn't be able to slip out of my arms! (Propping my arms up)

sarah I have some stretchy dresses but otherwise have had maternity clothes or too big tights since twelve weeks. My bump is quite large already!

BEEwitched · 27/01/2014 20:21

I need maternity jeans but I'm still ok with my regular skater dresses and jumpers. Just did a big shop at Old Navy for maternity stuff as it is very hard to find summery plus-size maternity clothes - plus size is niche, maternity is niche, and when the two meet, well.... Bon Prix is quite good but ALWAYS sold out of most things.

Just grumpy that their current money-off voucher doesn't work for international customers!

Bumblebeesmum · 27/01/2014 20:57

Marlena that makes me feel so much better about chucking James on the floor!! He was in such a peculiar position to I was sure he was broken somewhere rushed him to A&E at 3am where the Doctor asked (of my 4 week old) "how many injuries has he had previously?" - I was convinced social services would be next in!!! :)

bellygazing · 27/01/2014 20:58

I am mostly in maternity clothes apart from a few stretchy/ forgiving dresses and tops. Comfort all the way! I have my scan tomorrow -so excited. Not finding out the sex but can't wait to see this little wriggle again :)

AmelieRose · 27/01/2014 21:22

I'm still able to wear some normal clothes depending on how baggy/stretchy they are, but in maternity jeans and trousers as my normal ones won't do up round the middle! A lot of my maternity stuff is still miles too big though... Need this bump to grow!

jaykay987 · 27/01/2014 22:29

I've been in maternity trousers and jeans for since about 11weeka. They started off too big, but were just much more comfy than my old ones.

I wear a lot of stretchy dresses, so they are from my "normal" wardrobe. Ironically I can now wear a few that were too tight before my BFP. I've certainly not lost any weight, but my shape has changed, so a slight cling on the bump looks alright (whereas a pull on the bum or across the belly previously looked like jelly central!)

Good luck to any scans tomorrow!

Redcliff · 27/01/2014 22:34

I remember falling asleep on the sofa BF a couple of times and waking up all freaked out. With a side cot or similar how am I going to stop my self drifting off during a feed and it just turning into co- sleeping?

Clothes wise I am mainly in maternity clothes with the odd non maternity stretchy jumper or dress still fitting. Oddly my jeans are ok - they were a little big pre baby days but not sure how much longer they will work . My birthday is at the end of March and I was going to ask for some over the bump ones but not sure if I can wait that long.

mylittlel · 27/01/2014 22:51

re maternity clothes..i have tried bigger size clothes, which i didnt like and didnt feel comfy, so bought maternity jeans from New Look (nice and comfy) and wear maternity jumper but still no visible bump on 19 weeks

Bumblebeesmum · 28/01/2014 07:55

Redcliff I've been wondering the same thing

Mylittle I buy larger clothes but from different brands that are different shape to what I'm used to. All shops aimed at older ladies are more generous around the middle like jaeger & I can't think what others called & then white company I could live in they have so much stuff that doesn't fit it hangs etc

Redcliff · 28/01/2014 08:15

Little - I got a pair of trousers next size up and really didn't do the trick. Maternity clothes are much more comfy. Someone at work is due 4 weeks before me and has no bump - I guess some people wear it differently.

Vickyvix · 28/01/2014 09:15

Welcome Gorran and MrGasMan :)

jay that's actually a very good point that I hadn't thought of! I had just kind of assumed that for walks etc I would need to have buggy in house. We don't have a side or back door as we are in a terrace but I park on street right outside the front door so actually that could work. The only real place we have for storing buggy is under the stairs but I could store the frame in the car boot and just carry in the bassinet or car seat - and leave (or put) the frame in the car. good thinking!!

sarah i like your tights story. I switched to just buying really big tights which are much more comfy. I'm still in normal clothes apart from maternity jeans, which I've been wearing for weeks. I have struggled so much to find decent maternity wear so have ended up getting a couple of 'normal' jersey dresses with empire line waist and going with those or normal tops/ cardigans. But I did a mammoth order of maternity wear from Old Navy yesterday though which I am waiting for delivery of. Their maternity stuff was sooooo much nicer than anything I have found in UK..... Can't wait for it to arrive :) my bump has definitely appeared now.

good luck today bellygazing

Stacks · 28/01/2014 09:41

I don't hand any maternity clothes yet... I'm not due til end of June though, so a bit behind most of you. Also, I had a few generously cut jeans that I wore after having DS which still fit ok. My "normal" pre-DS trousers are all a bit too right to be comfy, also, my thighs get so much bigger when pg, so I can't wear any slightly tight jeans, even if they would fit on the waist!
Going to visit my sister in mid feb, she has all our maternity clothes, as she's due in march. So I'll get all the early pg maternity clothes off her then and start wearing them.

Mitchell2 · 28/01/2014 09:49

I have some maternity jeans, and the rest of the maternity stuff I have is dresses for work from Seraphine which are stretchy and basically the same as the dresses I would normally wear. all my tops, jumpers etc still are fine at the moment (I like clothing with a bit of room anyway!).

Biffle · 28/01/2014 10:14

I've been in maternity since about 8 weeks but this is baby #3 so no surprise. Can still fit in my pre pg jeans (if I stand up all day) but sitting in them for any length of time is really uncomfortable. Have really struggled finding jeans / trousers with a short enough legs. I have a 'short' leg pair of jeans from Mothercare and they are still about 4 inches too long!!!

mylittlel · 28/01/2014 11:22

morning ladies, my silly husband forgot yesterday that im pregnant and scared me in the dark) thank god i had a quick reaction and just spitted at him))) now he will know not to do this again)

Gorran · 28/01/2014 11:25

I'm still in my normal clothes but I'm living in dresses and tights - nice and forgiving as I favour skater style dresses or tunics. I AM getting a bit bored now though so will invest in some maternity jeans this week as wearing my normal jeans is getting interesting! I have a fairly obvious bump so when I wear them I'm wearing my jeans completely undone (except for a hairband/button closure I've concocted!) with a long vest then a top. Constantly worried about exposing an expanse of white blobby tummy!

Lmf679 · 28/01/2014 12:45

I'm wearing some ASOS maternity jeans today and they are falling down, I got some Topshop ones last week and they fit nicely, my usual size 10 skinny jeans have been relegated to the back of the wardrobe for some time now as I was really sick and bloated in the beginning. Some dresses still fit but they are getting shorter as the bump is making them ride up a bit, I'm still getting into normal tops and some stretchier skirts. It's an odd in between stage at the moment.

Expectingtwins1975 · 28/01/2014 13:55

I'm at an odd inbetween stage clothes wise - normal clothes haven't fitted for quite a few weeks (even though I'm only 18weeks) apart from cardis. But maternity clothes not a good fit - mat jeans always falling down. Havent found any maternity work trousers that have fitted properly. Have opted for regular stretchy skirts/trousers for work and bought some regular tops just in a bigger size. Only a matter of time before these are too small too - got a feeling going to spend majority of pregnancy shopping for larger and larger clothes!
Ps maternity tights are a total lifesaver!

wispaxmas · 28/01/2014 15:18

Re maternity clothing, I bought a pair of jeans from the gap at about 12 weeks, but my normal jeans still fit until about 18-19 weeks. They would still be fine with a belly band now at 21+6, but I'm finding the mat jeans so much comfier. I got a bunch of stuff from my sister in law at Christmas, luckily. I bought a pair of over-bump leggings when I was home for Christmas, and they are properly the comfiest thing I've ever worn.
