Had another scan yesterday, saw a very wiggly baby, waving his feet about - so cute!!

4 more weeks of work left now, that's 20 more get ups....

HappyHoppy · 18/01/2014 09:26

Owl - 20 get ups for me too! I like that way of counting it down!

Hello newbies! Haven't posted here for aaaaages.

IceNoSlice · 18/01/2014 12:05

Cannot. Wait. For. Mat. Leave.

I am kind of committed to working to 38 weeks which I am now regretting. But I could take a few days hol between now and then.

What is everyone planning for those precious few weeks off work but before baby? I'm planning to do the sensible stuff like filling the freezer with stews etc, making sure I've got the last few bits... But also hoping to get my whale self into the under-used maternity swimming costume a few times, perhaps have some reflexology, read a book...

OwlinaTree · 18/01/2014 12:39

Plans for mat leave pre baby.... Sleep and eat biscuits mainly.

IceNoSlice · 18/01/2014 12:42

Sleep - yes!

But, knowing how tempting those biscuits are when BFing I think I'll try to resist them a wee bit before the baby arrives! I also have a massive capacity for biscuits so they're dangerous. Can't eat one, I seem to need to eat the whole packet!

liberuna · 18/01/2014 13:00

Haven't even thought about those weeks with "nothing to do" im so busy doing all the things worrying about the things I 'should' be doing for baby. Its exhausting. Probably just rest and deal with the family that are descending on me. (Really? Now you want to plan a visit? )

Is anyone else feeling the lack of energy?

I ran out of breath in argos trying to find something in their catalogue! Shock

OwlinaTree · 18/01/2014 13:51

Yes to whole pack of biscuits!!

puggywug81 · 18/01/2014 15:21

Yes to full packs of biscuits and yes to feeling out of breath alot! When I finally get my mat leave i'll b finishing decorating eugh, and hopefully lots if snacking and napping.

FrankelInFoal · 18/01/2014 15:47

My maternity leave plans are:

Clean the house
Batch cook and freeze meals
Wash baby clothes
Finish my college work

Not very exciting I know!

dizhin79 · 18/01/2014 23:18

I'm working up to 38 weeks too, regretting it too!

Plans are swimming, chilling out, walking the dog and baking! With an impending home birth, the midwifes will require sustenance! Grin

PainAuxRaisins · 19/01/2014 00:06

Hmmm mat leave plans.......I have a cupboard full of junk that I have to sort out (yawn) plus I really need to go through the thousands of digital photos saved on the computer and choose the best ones to print out for photo albums (in fact, that job alone might take me the full 9 months....by which time we'll have about a million new photos of the baby!). On the whole my activities will be sofa-related and any strenuous housework will be kept to a minimum (if you can't call on a little extra help when you're 8 mths pregnant, when can you??). Cannot wait - bring on the biscuit-fest!

dizhin79 · 19/01/2014 09:57

I think I should add to my list, getting rid of more books to charity shops, we've done 3 sort thro's already. Still have full shelves with no spare capacity on them. must either buy new shelf or get rid of some!

Imeg · 19/01/2014 10:18

I'm not sure I should mention this as those of you with longer to persevere may throw things at me but I only have four more days at work!! (Due early March and stopping at 35 weeks). If it makes you feel better I have done a lot of marking this weekend to try to leave as little as possible for everyone else.

Then I need to finish my essays for teacher training while attempting to tidy the house, wash the baby's clothes, buy the last few bits. But I think lots of snoozing on the sofa would be good! I'm really struggling to sleep well now so think naps during the day are the way to go...

Think I'm in super nesting mode, have been washing baby things that have been donated, it was quite strange looking at a clothes house with a) teeny tiny baby clothes on and b)it all mainly being white!

Have also been organising the baby's wardrobe /drawers have sorted out a little tub of tiny baby clothes, just in case, then it's all organised into age groups. I'm pretty sure it will not be this organised all the time, but one can hope!

commsgirl · 19/01/2014 16:39

Imeg Envy

We've been on a mission to get the nursery painted this weekend. It's nearly finished, so excited. I've also been washing everything. Definitely nesting!

liberuna · 19/01/2014 21:17

Lots of washing too. I think we've finished nursery (speaks too soon?)

Another 6weeks of work to go. :(

Is anyone else doing yoga? Had my first class last week, not sure if I'm doing ut right as it didn't seem to do anything. .

dizhin79 · 19/01/2014 23:18

I've been doing a bit, maybe ask the teacher to check your positioning, it shouldn't be too vigorous at this stage but if you feel nothing it maybe that you're in slightly the wrong position x

puggywug81 · 20/01/2014 04:45

ARGH anyone else suffering with insomnia? I'm exhausted, I've been awake all night and I'm due to get up for work in less than an hour, I could cry!

dizhin79 · 20/01/2014 06:03

Strangely not insomnia but waking ridiculously early today, well for me at least, tho you're prob getting up for work now! Sad

FoxMulder · 20/01/2014 09:20

Morning all! Back at work, 6 weeks to go! I could really do with another day off. There's so much to fit in to weekends and not enough time!

We were at Ikea all day Saturday (got home at 11pm after stopping I at the folks for dinner/to pick up a crib) which was really stressful but I strangely loved it. Then Sunday was spent working in the bathroom and assembling our lovely bathroom cabinet & bookcase. I love a bit of flat-pack, me Smile.

Ran out of time to go bedroom furniture shopping. I am determined to get rid of our shitty mis-matched cheapo bedroom furniture collection and replace with a good quality matching set that will last us. And before we have the baby and are therefore too skint to do such things. Also, I can then offload our (minging) chest of drawers to the baby! Whoo!

Think we have decided not to do the carpets anymore. It was getting too much. We will just repaint the baby's room and put a big rug down for now, then when we can we will re-carpet the whole upstairs at once when we're not so pushed for time.

FoxMulder · 20/01/2014 11:10

Oh lib I meant to say about yoga. I did a 6 week course and I didn't really feel any benefit either. The teacher did correct my posture if I was doing anything wrong, but still. Not sure what it was supposed to do really.

Having said that, I have signed up for another 6 weeks starting in Feb! I thought it would benefit me to be keeping active and I might be able to take the breathing exercises more seriously now it's closer to the time!

mrsmugoo · 20/01/2014 17:05

I'm in the 6 week left of work club too - seems like an age!

And if I hear my bloody SIL say how much I need to "chill out" before the birth I will scream. I know I need to chill out but I also need a full month's salary in Feb before going onto measly SMA for 7 months!

IceNoSlice · 20/01/2014 20:19

I get insomnia. It is really fecking annoying.

liberuna · 20/01/2014 21:44

Thanks fox I don't feel like a div now. Its the only exercise im doing at the moment (despite buying the swim suit, funnily that isn't enough)

Major project being launched today so have to get it up and running before I leave work in 6weeks
mrs my mom is same. She doesn't have an answer as to how im going to support myself on £136 a week or says "you'll be fine" really? So whose paying for your plane ticket mom? Hmm

ice dizhin puggy yes to insomnia. I think I pass out rather than fall asleep. And then its either random pains waking me up or just waking up early. I mean its just not fair to have both! :(
