Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dizhin79 · 26/02/2014 00:07

hi all,

lottie ask your oh how at night when you're feeding and settling lo you can be expected to manhandle a dvd, Netflix is much more sensible!! Love the idea of a bit of jewellery from oh to mark the birth but like a couple of others we're watching the pennies so might have to be a 2nd year mothers day pressy instead!
when my bits ache is normally baby dropping down further as each time I've had it the next mw appointment they're saying it's more engaged so hourly only a good thing Grin

dizhin79 · 26/02/2014 00:08

hopefully not hourly!

liberuna · 26/02/2014 08:56

Ha ha dizhin I couldn't cope with that hourly

Fender same here. I feel all I do is whinge but it hurts and I got nowt better to do

yogi sorry things are getting tense with mr. What was argument about if you don't mind me asking

Imeg · 26/02/2014 09:08

I'm not too uncomfortable until I try to sleep...

I don't like the idea of baby showers because I have the perhaps rather old-fashioned view that presents and celebrations should wait until the baby has safely arrived. The exception being practical things that you would have had to buy before the birth anyway (eg mother-in-law paid for our car seat). A few people have given us presents already and I do really appreciate their thoughtfulness but it seems a bit early to me.

mrsmugoo · 26/02/2014 10:52

I agree Imeg although mine was more about having one last Sunday afternoon with the girls before I have a baby attached to my boob for the next 6 months!

OwlinaTree · 26/02/2014 12:29

Oh guys, I'm so sick of it now too! Size of a house, can't get comfy in bed, everything is hard to do, even getting dressed. Get back ache if I stand for too long, get restless legs if I sit too long.

Only a week to go tho.....

DitaVonCreamTeas · 26/02/2014 13:02

Just had my 38 week midwife appointment, and as I suspected DS's head is engaging (not sure how far though). I could feel it happening over a couple of days, I can feel a heavy pressure on my bladder and bowels (nice!) but my indigestion has eased; good thing as I'm currently tucking into a bag of skin and hair treats pork scratchings.

dizhin79 · 26/02/2014 14:21

check your notes dita it should say in there how engaged you are usually 4/5ths palp or eng or something like that

DitaVonCreamTeas · 26/02/2014 14:42

Cheers dizhin Smile it says '3/5'ths, hadn't realised she'd written it down.

mrsmugoo · 26/02/2014 15:11

Decided to get myself out of the house today - such a beautiful sunny day, really feels like Spring. Trying to take my mind off tomorrow's ECV - I'm really nervous. Not nervous of the outcome, nervous of the actual procedure.

OwlinaTree · 26/02/2014 20:53

Sure it will go well tomorrow mugoo. Don't worry. They will be monitoring you carefully, and checking the baby's heartbeat. And if it works you'll be able to have the lovely birth that you are hoping for. And if not... well at least you'll have a date for when your baby will be born.

I've finally packed my bags properly, one for me and one for baby. So exciting and nerve wracking. Mum has given me the crocheted blanket she made to bring me home from hospital in, so I'm taking that too. Can't wait to use it.

EmFlat · 26/02/2014 21:04

Good luck, Mrs - as Owlina said, you get a kind-of reasonable outcome even if it doesn't work the way you want it to.

No bump-drop here and am 38 weeks tomorrow Hmm does it definitely happen for everyone? Am pretty much wishing for the lower-down-aches-and-heaviness, at least it'd mean something's going to happen soon! Might have to get on the bouncy-ball tomorrow.

Fender1 · 26/02/2014 21:20

I'm 38+3 here EmFlat and no dropping of bump here either :-/
Got my MW checkup mid morning so I'm looking forward to finding out if we're 'engaged'...
Fingers crossed for you tomorrow MrsM, let us know how you get on.

Flumpinblues · 26/02/2014 22:03

Good luck tomorrow Mrsmugoo

commsgirl · 26/02/2014 22:40

Good luck tomorrow Mrs. Will be thinking of you!

PainAuxRaisins · 26/02/2014 23:04

Urgh 36 weeks and feeling heavy (on Monday Dr said I was 3/5 engaged) but still have one more day of work to go! Really hoping I don't go into labour the second I finish work….need to have at least a week or two of mat leave otherwise I'll feel cheated. Good luck tomorrow MrsMugoo and congratulations to Ice.
Imeg - I'm like you with the baby shower thing.
EmFlat if you're struggling with Moon River try Louis Armstrong 'Wonderful World'

FrankelInFoal · 27/02/2014 08:55

Popping by to wish MrsMugoo for today, hope all goes to plan.

39+2 today and had a rotten night's sleep - had to get up to pee 4 times in the night, god only knows where all that fluid came from Hmm I think my bump has dropped again so I'll be getting on my ball later on to encourage this baby all the way down and get things shifting.

Take it easy today everyone!

OwlinaTree · 27/02/2014 09:11

Good luck for today mrsmugoo

OwlinaTree · 27/02/2014 09:11

Enjoy your last day pain.

commsgirl · 27/02/2014 15:53

Day two of maternity leave and I've just steam cleaned all the carpets. Definitely not very good at this relaxing thing!

Pain hope you have a good last day!

Frank that's a good sign baby is nice and low. Annoying though!

mrsmugoo · 27/02/2014 16:23

Nope, this one is not for turning. ELCS booked for the week after next. I am grieving my lovely MLU/hypnobirth somewhat but realise this is best for the baby and now I'm just excited to meet my baby sooner rather than later and excited not to have to wait potentially another 5 weeks!

commsgirl · 27/02/2014 16:30

Oh Mrs I'm sorry the turning didn't work out. I know it's not the birth you wanted but at least you've got an end point to get excited about now. Not long at all until you get to meet your little one!

Imeg · 27/02/2014 16:42

Mrs mugoo - while I don't mean to make light of the Caesarean, and I know you were hoping for a different sort of birth, I can't help being a bit envious of people who know it's going to arrive on a definite day (grass is always greener!). I'm 39+4 now and it's very odd knowing it could be any day now but could also take another few weeks. I don't want to make too many plans or go too far from home but on the other hand if it's going to keep me waiting until 42 weeks I don't want to do nothing at all for the next fortnight! Does anybody else have a solution for this?!

A friend who had twins said her elective C-section for them was a much nicer experience than the subsequent birth of her other child.

mrsmugoo · 27/02/2014 17:01

Well that is definitely a plus point but feel a little robbed that I don't get to go through the excitement of twinges, waters going, losing plug...is this it?

I'll just be rocking up on my allocated day to have my baby, just like going to the dentist.

But I'm sure I'll forget all of those feelings the second I meet my baby. Que sera sera!

EmFlat · 27/02/2014 17:09

I thought exactly the same as Comms, Mrs... at least you know when you'll meet the newbie! Sorry it deviates from your preferred plan??but gosh, week after next, eek!

Imeg, are you trying any methods to bring things on naturally? I'm the same - making day-to-day plans like seeing people locally, but worried in case we commit to something and Junior decides to make his move. A close friend is getting married next Friday... do I just hang in there and hope we make it, or shall I start trying things now and see if he arrives in time to come to the wedding with us?? Such a slim chance he'll arrive on Thurs/Fri, but Sod's law could make me miss my bestie's big day Hmm
Supposedly either sex or castor oil are the surest-fire things... you at all tempted to try one and see? Wink
