diz re spring - I saw some snowdrops yesterday Smile

Snowdrops are one of my favourite flowers. When DH and I were first going out, he asked me what my favourite flowers were. I said snowdrops, bluebells and forget-me-nots. The lovely silly man only went and asked for them in the florist! Bless him.

liberuna · 01/02/2014 07:31

Oohh snap to bspicw & comms my birthday is 18 so hoping she comes on time or early. Will you guys be celebrating your birthday?

pixie glad test wasn't too bad

fox Im with you. I assume the first week I'm going to be , essentially, a feeding zombie. Experienced ladies-is this not the case?

dizhin financially it makes sense but physically? What were we thinking? Lol

Frank congrats on leave. I love the home mat leave idea. I'm my own worst enemy, I've been fighting OH to do things the entire time so I have to make a conscious effort to ask for help. Feels weird.

lumpy cool on the birthing pool can you ask the mw? Do you book these things?

Em then goes back to bed for nap. Welcome! First time here too. Scared and excited. SSeriously if I knew pregnancy was like this I would have just gone on a roller coaster. So how come you'vejjoined so late?

imegenjoy the wedding!

I have my baby shower today. Woo hoo!
Have a nice weekend guys!

dizhin79 · 01/02/2014 08:31

Martians hoping for a water birth, please please please ask tour mw how many there are and where the next nearest one is. The pool at our local hospital has been out of action for 2 weeks with an infection. Luckily there are 2 other pools within 30mins drive of the hosp so it's not so bad here, but it does put extra pressure on those pools and it's users.

Snow drops are out by us too looks fab near us there's a manor house with access of the little beauties Grin

Lottie345 · 01/02/2014 09:24

diz that's one of the reasons I want to 'see on the day' / where has a pool free and how I'm coping with the pain. And also as em said (big wave) because they seem so keen to whip em out with forceps or whatever.

My anaesthetist friend says they are very risk averse so they do tend to be overly cautious but that it's better than having a kid with cerebral palsy. Midwife at my antenatal said the cases of something 'going wrong' would have had same outcome at the delivery suite. What to do!

diz we're also v close to a famed snowdrop manor house open for charity this time of year. It's so pretty (picks one for ice Thanks )

lib have a great shower

Off to have a haircut and get some new glasses (they tell me eyesight won't have changed much - I hope they're not lying )

glitterhoops · 01/02/2014 09:54

Hiya mind if I join?

Just wondering if anyone was going to try a Vbac?

I'm 36.5 weeks.

puggywug81 · 01/02/2014 10:38

Hi ladies, hope everyone is well. Snowdrops do rock, so pretty.

Hi to Em and glitterhoops.

Looks like magpie is winning the latest finish date for mat leave competition!

Having fun here, OH hammered a nail through a gas pipe last night, obviously we had to turn the gas off overnight, the house is freezing. We now have OH's brother and Dad trying to fix the pipe before the carpet fitters come!

DitaVonCreamTeas · 01/02/2014 10:52

Morning everyone, hello Em and glitterhoops, I'm new here too Smile

Em we have the same EDD, woop!

DH is busying himself around the flat moving stuff in preparation for The Great Flat Pack Baby Furniture Assembly Day 2014. There will be swearing.

Dreamt last night I'd married the office temp (he's 20) and was pregnant with his baby. I'm nearly twice his age, but he didn't seem to mind. Shock Anyone else having, um, curious dreams?

LyraSilvertongue · 01/02/2014 11:39

Lib, why are you expecting to be a zombie? No reason why you should be.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/02/2014 11:41

Glitter, I had a vbac with my second son. Not doing that again. I having an elective CS this time.

lumpylumps · 01/02/2014 12:00

I love snowdrops. They used to grow round the trunk of a tree in the garden of the house I grew up in. When my grandpa died we swapped houses with my grandma. The tree eventually fell down but the snowdrops carried on. Grandma died a little over a year ago so the house went to. I went back last year to get a snowdrop (sentimental fool that I am!!) And they weren't there!!! Not even a sprout!

IceNoSlice · 01/02/2014 12:12

Lumpy that's a lovely memory. Maybe they didn't grow last year because your family weren't there?

Sorry Em I should have said hello. Hello.

glitter hello to you too. I'm planning a VBAC.

lumpylumps · 01/02/2014 13:24

ice that's what I think too!!!

glitterhoops · 01/02/2014 16:20

lyrasilva hello, do you mind me asking why your vbac was not a good experience?

glitterhoops · 01/02/2014 17:20

icenoslice are you planning on going into labour naturally, or may you be induced?

I'm hoping to be able to go in the water at least for the early part. I'll be induced a week early, but not with the drip, so there's no knowing it will work or not...

EmFlat · 01/02/2014 17:57

Heheh, Comms I know what you mean about the flexibility! Yeah, haven't got my hopes up for the lovely MLU, nope not at all Wink
Ice/Glitter/Puggy/Dita - 'hi'! And 'eek!' on the same EDD, Dita Grin wonder if it'll actually stay like that? Would be amazing if it did.
Lib: hee hee, same here, on both counts! Excited and eager for PG to be over, but still scared of the unknown Wink Reason for joining late? I was on Babycentre first (seemed a good idea at the time), decamped to MN a few months ago, just never searched properly for a March 2014 group. My shower's tomorrow... did you have fun at yours today?

Magpieblue · 01/02/2014 18:18

Ooh, exciting puggy - do I win a prize? Can I have a sling with "martyr of the year" on it? I'm also planning to go back to work after three months so I expect more prizes please. Don't know if I'm bonkers or just hopelessly naive. The OH is preparing for house husband duties.

lumpy That's a lovely story. What time of year did you go to get your snowdrops? Think they might have been late last year because of the cold winter so it's worth trying again this year (next few weeks).

FrankelInFoal · 01/02/2014 18:19

If all goes according to plan and I get in the MLU they've got a birthing pool in every room so I figure it would be rude not to have a go Grin Up in the delivery unit they've only got 1 pool between 8 rooms.

Hope everyone is taking it easy this weekend. I have a very active bump tonight, feels like she has invited a few friends over for a disco!

Magpieblue · 01/02/2014 18:31

lumpy actually, it's not really a lovely story is it, because you didn't get your snowdrops! I meant it's lovely that you associate snowdrops with your grandparents.

I really want to use the birthing pool but my hospital only has one so I'm trying failing not to get too set on it.

Would it be wrong to take a suitcase into hospital? What's everyone else using? I haven't packed yet, but the list I've made is huge so never going to get it all into a smallish bag.

mrsmugoo · 01/02/2014 19:19

Lovely tour round the maternity unit and MLU today- very happy with my choice now and excited to go there for real. Saw a lady being wheeled out of delivery suite onto the ward with her brand new baby tucked in her hospital gown and it was all I could do not to burst into floods of tears.

IceNoSlice · 01/02/2014 21:54

glitter the plan is to go into labour naturally. I did with DS (got to fully dilated before it went awry and ended in EMCS) so hopefully that bit will work out ok again.

Did you have an elective last time? I ask because I have been classed as high risk due to EMCS so water isn't an option for me AFAIK.

Interesting that you'll be induced at 39 weeks. I've never heard of that as a plan before. I have been told that induction is more risky after a section and can increase the risk of scar rupture.

I won't be induced. I have a consultant appointment at 40+1 and will be booked in for an ELCS at 40+10.

puggywug81 · 01/02/2014 22:09

magpie I think you definitely deserve multiple prizes!

dizhin79 · 01/02/2014 22:23

35 weeks on monday, have pretty much everything sorted for me and bub apart from a few bits n bobs, am now feeling a bit like a sheep that's lost its shepherd!! Kinda milling around awaiting baby....... Nuts really as I should be just valuing this time left with just OH and I. But now i'm organised i haven't anything to focus on. Does anyone else feel like this?

IceNoSlice · 01/02/2014 22:26

I know what you mean diz... But you really should be enjoying this time with just you and DH! Go out for dinner, to the movies, see friends... It will honestly be so much harder after.

dizhin79 · 01/02/2014 22:31

lol, I know tbh we are making the most of it, i think it's the mix of running out room on the inside and being impatient lol! You are right though, must just chill......

PainAuxRaisins · 01/02/2014 22:40

Hello all - haven't been on here for a week or so (had a really horrible virus which wiped me out for most of the week). I can see a lot of unfamiliar names on here - welcome newbies! Have you added your stats to our other thread? I have the worst memory but if I find the link to the stats thread I'll post a link to it as it's good to have all the names and EDDs in one place.
Like a lot of you, I really want to use the MLU too but I'm trying not to build my hopes up too much in case it's not possible (e.g. going overdue, growth scan predicting a whopper etc). I guess we'll know a bit nearer the time.
I'm working up until the end of Feb too but beginning to regret that now. So exhausted I could finish tomorrow! Finished really early with DD2 and she was then 2 weeks late so the waiting was endless. This time I'm trying to go a bit closer to EDD so I'm not at home twiddling thumbs for too long.
Magpie what on earth is on your list for the hospital bag? I'm curious Smile. I still need to pack mine and I'm wondering if I'll need something bigger than an overnight bag.
