Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
glitterhoops · 01/02/2014 22:58

icenoslice I had an emergency CS before as I didn't dialate past 3 cm after 3 days. They will induce by breaking my waters only and possibly a very small amount if prostoglandin. I can't do on the drip as - as you mentioned it's too hardcore for the scar. They did say yes to the water as they have some waterproof CFM machines- but only if everything seems ok at the time - no promises.
If I don't start contracting they'll just give me a cesarean.
I think the reality may be a cesarean, but thought I'd give it a try as second baby. I'm wanting to have the baby a but early as I have crippling SPD and baby was 10 pounds last time - but that was at 42 weeks. There is no way I'd entertain the thought of vbac for a 10 pounder.

glitterhoops · 01/02/2014 23:04

I forgot to say- I just wanted the water for first bit- if I'm coping with gas and air fine- but I do remember the pain, so expect Ill opt for an epidural.

Fender1 · 01/02/2014 23:05

Hi all, I'm a newbie (and lurker) too Smile
I'm 35 wks and hoping for a VBAC as I had an ELCS first time. Have already decided I'm not going to be induced but have a consultant appt for 40+1 to discuss options is I haven't started labour naturally....

Tomorrows task is to inflate the gym ball and find a good app for pregnancy / meditative hypnosis - does anyone have any suggestions?
off to update the stats thread

Yogibear72 · 02/02/2014 07:41

Welcome Fender, Em, Glitter

How is everyone getting on this morning?
I have been experiencing period like pains and tightenings since late last night. Slept on it but they are still happening. Doesn't feel like established labour but then it doesn't feel like regular BH either. I'm only 35+6.
First time mum here so it's difficult to know Confused

I also noticed that my bump dropped further dropped overnight.

PainAuxRaisins · 02/02/2014 08:31

Yogi give your mw a call to be on the safe side. Coolhand went into labour at 35 weeks and we were all really surprised. Best to get anything like this checked out - especially if you're already familiar with the feeling of BH and these feelings are different. You could well be in the very very early stages. Keep us all posted!!

EmFlat · 02/02/2014 09:07

Hi all!
Yeah, I'd second that, Yogi... you never know, huh? Might just be niggling, which I've read (thanks to an eye-opening thread about a week-long labour! Shock) can last a while before anything really happens.

Am in a right old grump this morning Hmm slept like crap, or shall we just say 'dozed lightly with nothing actually resembling sleep'? Acid reflux, slept on back but propped up on pillows, but kept waking self up with own snoring, tried sleeping on left but everything hurts (SPD getting worse), then the cat decided she loved my maternity pillow too so slept on my ankles! Felt like I woke up in a bleedin' furnace! And the constantly swollen ankles just top it all off. F. F. S.

Sorry, shouldn't rant... you're all suffering too! sigh Oh yeah, will try finding the other thread for stats Smile

Hope everyone has a good (if not reasonable) Sunday! Lots of comfy wishes to everyone xxx.

mrsmugoo · 02/02/2014 10:28

Anyone else getting irrationally irritated by others chiming in with opinions on EVERYTHING?

Like "make the most of the time you have left jut the two of you" - wow hadn't thought of that
"Have you thought of a water birth?" - no this is he first I've ever heard of it
"You have no idea what you've let yourself in for" - maybe we don't, but it's something every parent goes through and to my knowledge no one has actually gone mad or died from sleep deprivation.

I just wish everyone would STFU and let us get on with it.

mrsmugoo · 02/02/2014 10:33

Oh and people brushing off how tiring and uncomfortable the last few weeks of pregnancy are because obviously it's so much worse with a newborn - forgetting I am still working for another month and cleaning the house, doing supermarket shops and generally keeping life ticking over - I can't just sit at home in my pjs eating freezer food on the sofa all day.

Lottie345 · 02/02/2014 11:04

YES mrsmugoo YES! It's either that or 'gosh aren't you big/small/low bumped/high bumped'. Don't go here don't go there etc

Sod off with all your opinions and stop grabbing my bump.

(Retreats back into hole and takes deep breath)

yogi let us know what your mw says. As the others said best to check.

Yogibear72 · 02/02/2014 12:13

Agree with all of the above Mrs and Lottie

A so called friend who hasn't seen me since Christmas said to me yesterday that I was huge and my bump was egg shaped rather than round. She also went into detail about a horrer birth story of a work colleague who recently had a baby. She just doesn't think... Or at least I hope that's what it is. I've known her 12 years.

I'm really proud of my beautiful bump and I got my OH to take loads pictures last night!

Anyhow re the BHs I've been having all night.... I called the labour ward earlier and spoke to the midwife. I'm glad I did but she basically said what I thought I knew... It could be the start of something or it could just stop. So she said to keep an eye on things and call again in a few hours. I've got the added complication of fibroids which can sometimes cause early labour.
Not quite ready for this baby yet. I've got another two weeks at work!

Lottie345 · 02/02/2014 12:55

We'll make sure you rest up yogi. Just in case! Sounds like a good job you've taken lots of pics... I've nagged my DH because when I was looking neat and nice he has not taken a single pic of my bump. He's taken pics of my face... Now I feel whale like I really don't want my pic taken. Bough I'm sure I'll regret that!!

mrsmugoo · 02/02/2014 17:12

DH wants us to have a professional bump/couple photo shoot - nothing tooooo cheesy, I guess just to capture me in my current state to look back on.

IceNoSlice · 02/02/2014 17:24

mrsmagoo sounds like you need to chill - it's probably people just making conversation. They probably don't give a rat's arse if you have a water birth. Just something to say.

And if the supermarket shopping is getting to you, I'm a big fan of online shopping. Don't understand people who refuse to try it then whinge about going to the supermarket.

glitterhoops · 02/02/2014 19:55

Fender I did the Hypno stuff last time but that was over 3 years ago now abd I've seen you have loads of choicd to download stuff online - leg me know if you find anything good.
Em your sleep sounds exactly like mine lastnight minus the cat.

mrsmugoo · 02/02/2014 20:00

Haha thanks for both barrels IceNoSlice yep that's why I said irrationally irritated

liberuna · 02/02/2014 20:07

dizhin I feel the same. Im wishing my pregnancy time away but want to take advantage of this time as well.

Sometimes we all get a little touchy. I have days when I want to scream at the world just for existing!
Just know mrs this too will pass. And remember not to become one of 'those' people in future Grin only happy pregnancy stories! Let's leave the the other ones on these threads.

On that note Question for group: is any one else struggling to fart? Im constipated as it is but everything is so squashed that even passing air is difficult. Should I be worried?

IceNoSlice · 02/02/2014 20:20

Perhaps I'm a little irrationally irritated too mrs. Will be nicer tomorrow, promise!

glitterhoops · 02/02/2014 20:50

Magpie A suitcase sounds ideal to me. I thought if would be good to have a smaller bag with essentials for labour, then you'd stuff for the hospital stay can stay In suitcase in car until you need it.

EmFlat · 02/02/2014 21:53

Aw jeez, Lib, I'm the opposite at the moment! Tmi, sorry Wink but I think that's another one of those things which is different for everyone and comes in fits and starts. Going for a walk has 'shifted' me in the past... or Gaviscon! Supposed to be a bit of a laxative effect as well as calming acid reflux. If you go too long without passing either, might be sensible to ask the MW what you are allowed to take to shift things.

Glitter, I'm doing the same - one (medium-ish) bag with labour essentials, one bag left in car with 'going home' clothes for both me & Junior, and extras of vital things in case we're kept in hosp for any length of time.

Apologies for the whining this morning... have had a lush baby shower with my friends today, who have been so lovely and generous! Feel awful for complaining when really have nothing to complain about. Agree that I shouldn't wish this time away Smile have early mat leave to enjoy soon, if Jnr doesn't arrive early!

Fender1 · 02/02/2014 22:02

Hi Glitter, I really enjoyed the hypnobirthing course the first time round, just didn't seem to get around to it this time...
Magpie, I'm also taking a suitcase onto the postnatal ward - smallish one - fits in overhead locker of plane type and will stay in car boot until after baba is born. I've also got a separate 'labour bag' sorted so things aren't too cluttered during birth. It helped me and DH the first time and have done / doing the same now that HE has packed the bags (with the stuff I collated Smile) so that he knew what was what when the going got tough. Just a thought as it worked for us...
Also suffering digestive issues, like you Liber - feeling sluggish etc but mw has prescribed lactalose to keep things ticking over so now I'm alternating that and gaviscon. Might be worth mentioning at your next MW appt? Sadly found that one of the main causes for acid reflux is chocolate - now tell me that's fair?!

mrsmugoo · 02/02/2014 22:23

Joining in the constipated crew - have got a wee hemorrhoid now too Blush

pixiebell79 · 02/02/2014 22:47

Me too mrsmugoo Hmm

OwlinaTree · 02/02/2014 22:55

Hi all. Well, I've had 2 bump rubbers this week, one vague acquaintance in the pub, and the woman serving in coop who rubbed it and said I can't believe you've got 5 weeks to go. Well, believe it Lady!

I was pretty Shock at that one!

Stopped with friends at the weekend. Also had some braxton Hicks style contractions at the top of the bump. So spent while night worrying waters were going to break in someone else's bed. No more nights away from home now.
Bah, work again tomorrow. Only 10 more get ups to go!!

dizhin79 · 02/02/2014 23:45

Am much cheerier today, spent it out visiting family and friends with oh, turned out to be a long day with vast quantities of food consumed! We really enjoyed our time together which both of us commented on being on the countdown now :) twas lovely Grin

pixiebell79 · 03/02/2014 02:03

Could actually cry I'm so uncomfortable - between insomnia, severe heartburn, piles and general discomfort due to being whale-like I'm currently utterly miserable!

Sorry for the whinge, I know we're all in the same boat, I'm just having a particularly bad night...!
