Oh *Ruggle. That sounds awful Hmm I think you should get your boss to send your apologies. You should put yourself first. Most people are (secretly) glad when meetings are cancelled anyway!! Wink

jessplussomeonenew · 17/01/2014 09:44

Shaksuka - hope you are having a great birthday and DH has cooked up a nice surprise for you!

Ruggle - Sorry you're feeling rotten. I was off work yesterday as I couldn't keep anything down; this morning's porridge (with far too much golden syrup!) is staying put so will do what I can today - luckily I can work from home most days so don't have to go far from snacks/the loo as needed. Is that an option for you? Thing is, even if you do struggle in you're not going to do your best work when feeling grim so I'm not sure anyone benefits from you feeling miserable.

Jenbee - what is it about men and names? I am trying to stop mine calling the little one Boris... unless I come up with something new quickly I'm afraid it might stick! I trust he'll be more sensible when it comes to genuinely naming the poor mite!

oh.... clearly I spoke too soon about the porridge :(

Feelingfatty · 17/01/2014 10:08

Eugh not sure I could have much worse luck after worries seemed to be over my dd has not woken up with a small rash on her cheek by her eye and panicking its slap check!! Have for her booked for docs at 3.10....please don't let it be slap cheek!

WeeJo08 · 17/01/2014 10:29

What age is DD, Feeling?

londonchick · 17/01/2014 10:34

Yes yes to the antibiotics for GBS. Essential. I have nursed a number of very sick children over the years when no treatment was given.

Vomiting massively today. Went into work but sent home as have UTI. Given antibiotics and now in bed with the bin next to me. The cat l

londonchick · 17/01/2014 10:34

Blooming phone

The cat looked most unimpressed when I got into bed as it disturbed her morning nap!!

HungryHorace · 17/01/2014 11:38

Happy birthday Shak! Can't wait to find out what your surprise is. :-)

Fatty, that's not good. I know it's not good to have contact in pregnancy, but what's the reason for it? I hope it's something totally innocuous.

I hope all the puking people feel better soon. I've felt more sick today, and threw up brushing my teeth. Grim, but at least I get to clean my mouth straight away!

It's funny how kids know when you're pregnant. Even though DD is really young she's been stroking my belly! It's just bizarre. :-)

CountdownBegins · 17/01/2014 12:10

Happy birthday Shak!

Ruggle I've been signed off work for 2 weeks as I literally can't function properly because of the neaseau- I was thinking it was just me being rubbish but the doctor did my blood pressure, asked me loads of questions and just signed me off- my job is quite high pressure and a long commute so it has made me glad I can just stay at home and cling to the toilet :/ hopefully ill start to feel better in the next few weeks. She peescribed me Cyclizine which she said is a low dose and is nothing compared to what I'd be on if I had to go into hospital if the sickness gets worse so hoping it takes the edge off and let's me get some sleep!

Sorry for the long post- it's nice to have all you ladies here to chat to- will read back now and see what everyone is up to xx

Feelingfatty · 17/01/2014 15:36

Happy birthday shak,

Not slap cheek thankfully!! A reaction to swimming pool dc thinks. Got some piriton and bath stuff for her :)

Feelingfatty · 17/01/2014 15:36

Oh and hungry the slap check carries risk of miscarriage and smaller risk of this special disease thing to do with heart/bloodShock

HungryHorace · 17/01/2014 15:59

Thank god, Fatty. Bet you're relieved. :-)

Feelingfatty · 17/01/2014 16:07

So relived thank you! Poor doctor I was rambling as I took her in!! And every time he said it's not slap cheek I asked a few minutes later 'so it's definitely not slap cheek' Grin I think he thought I might make him give to to me in writing!! GrinGrin

Shakshuka · 17/01/2014 16:09

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Dh has told me what he's planned because he can't make it to my office in time and I have to meet him there (and I nagged him!). It's nothing too exciting but very nice - we're going to an Italian restaurant in the West Village which was recommended to him and then up to the Lincoln Center where he's booked tickets to see a famous Jazz guitarist who's supposed to be great. Really looking forward to it!

Thanks for the input about the antibiotics. NICE and the NHS also say that if you have GBS in your urine, you should get IV antibiotics in labour so guess that's just how's it going to have to be. I'm a bit concerned about getting to the hospital too early and will need to speak to my dr about not having continuous monitoring and being able to move about. The hospital I'm going to has a 40% c-section rate which doesn't bode well but I'm sticking with it because it has the best NICU in the area and dd1 was very very sick after she was born so the quality of the NICU is a big factor for me.

Hope you're feeling better ruggle. Your dsd sounds very very sweet!

We told our dc about the pregnancy a few days ago as I thought a scan at 10w + 4 is pretty good odds. They were ecstatic! Although we've asked them to keep it under wraps for now - not sure how long that'll last!

feelingfatty very good it's not slapped cheek. That must be a relief!

RosesOnTheWane · 17/01/2014 16:18

Hi Everyone,

our internet has been down all week so I am trying to catch up!

Sorry to hear so many of us are still feeling sick. My sickness is much better now but my bump is just embarrassing. Honestly, I look 6 months pg and feel like I have put on about 2 stone.

flymo79 · 17/01/2014 16:47

have a great evening Shak! I love the international board, makes me feel very globally-connected!
Have had a really tough day at work and for literally the first time in over three months am feeling the slight taste for some wine! don't think ill of me ladies, I probably couldn't even finish a glass, it's more just the association!

Feelingfatty · 17/01/2014 16:55

Thanks guys! Flymo it's funny isn't it I LOVED my Friday/Saturday (sometimes a naughty Sunday) wine but I have completely gone office though of it! Mother Nature I suppose! I'm sure I'll be dying for some in a few months!! Planning on bf so will be ages yet!!

MrsGarlic · 17/01/2014 17:16

I wish my son (12 months) knew I was pregnant, he keeps kicking me in the stomach Hmm Perhaps he's not best thrilled about a sibling!

Had a scan today (9+2) just for reassurance, as I haven't really had any symptoms but at this stage with no.1 I was puking daily. Pleased to see an active baby in there with a strong heartbeat Grin

travispickles · 17/01/2014 17:18

I am just so so relieved that its Friday. It had been a looooong week. Plan to do as little as poss this weekend!
Sorry to hear about sickness etc, I remember being that bad last time and I went to the dr and cried and begged her to tell me when it would get better. I did vom this morning into a plastic bag to add to the glamour :-)

HungryHorace · 17/01/2014 17:47

That's excellent, MrsGarlic. :-) Reassures me a bit, as I'm the same. I threw up a few times a day with DD, almost every day for 11 weeks. This time it's loads different.

That's very glamorous, Travis! At least it wasn't in your shoe or something.

Enjoy your evening, Shak. Sounds great. I bloody love Italian food.

I've gone headachey again today. Seems to be a recurring theme. I think tiredness doesn't help.

I look massively pregnant too. I'll be mahoosive by the end!

Abimci · 17/01/2014 19:08

I second that, so glad the working week is over. I have been better sickness wise but just so exhausted and constantly hungry! Also putting on weight as too tired to exercise but eating more carbs than usual. To fair I usually put on a few pounds in winter and don't think it's worse than any other year (yet!)

Have loads of work to do but I'm having tonight and tomorrow off since tomorrow is my birthday. Have a good evening everyone!

RoseHoney · 17/01/2014 19:20

Just checking in, I've been missing in action recently but hope all is well with everyone, congratulations to all who have had scans etc. Smile

Lissbug · 17/01/2014 21:04

updated the list! hope everyone has had a good day. feel so much better after my scan yesterday. went to buy organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash as want to cut down on chemicals. has anyone else done the same?

Lissburg I haven't switched and won't to be honest, I don't personally think there's really a risk with normal shampoo etc. but each to their own Smile
