I had the wee / sick conundrum on NYE. Thankfully the bath is next to the loo so I didn't have to choose! I'm so lucky this time...I prefer just feeling odd / grim!

No worries, Countdown. :-)

Jenbee1 · 16/01/2014 20:53

Happy birthday shak. Sorry tc but that made me laugh.
I've been quite happily calling it little bean but Dh said tonight he doesn't and suggested Tarquin, which is clearly not going to stick. What's everyone else calling the little one(s)?

Lissbug · 16/01/2014 20:57

Hi all
Have been off here for a few days as was getting het up about my 9 week scan. Anyway, it was this afternoon and everything is perfect! Poppet is 2.5cm and we saw it wriggling away with a very strong heartbeat! Could someone add me to the list? Can't seem to do it on my ipad. And I'm definitely the oldest one here - 43 - geriatric mother!!

Mine is called squiggle, we decided we'd call ours this before even pregnant after my DH did an ultrasound course for work and I said babies look like squiggles on them. Then when I saw my actual baby at my 7ish week scan I just thought it was so beautiful lol but name now stuck.

mssleepyhead · 16/01/2014 21:07

After yesterday's chip shop dramas DH was due to come home with chips but the chip shop has CLOSED DOWN! A disaster, obv... Luckily he went out and bought nice oven chips, thick white bread and vinegar. A chip butty tea has FINALLY satisfied me. Thank goodness!

FriendofDorothy · 16/01/2014 21:15

I didn't meet my lovely husband until I was 33 and we got married when I was 34 (I think). I have wanted children for years and years but I had never met anyone I loved enough to marry and have kids with.

We started trying for kids almost as soon as we got married but it took us nearly 2 years to conceive DS1 who is now 1. We required a bit of intervention from the doctors which worked first time! It was much quicker with the second - about 4 cycles. Thank goodness!

I was 36 (only just though, I turned 37 less than a week after he was born!) when I had number one and will be 38 when I have number 2.

Feelingfatty · 16/01/2014 21:36

Well after saying earlier I wouldn't give into cravings I have eaten apple crumble for pudding and now just eaten 4 drumstick Lollys! Opps!!

QueenOfGeeks · 17/01/2014 00:18

Gosh been away since this am can't believe how many posts.

Shak not quite the oldest one here I was 40 last year, Happy birthday for today (just seen the time).

Me and dh only decided to try to have kids when I was 35 and then had to go down the IVF route so DS wasn't born until I was 38.

Bless the midwife though at booking in i was filling in lots of bits and she looked at the one I had to fill in if I was over 40, and she said oh you've filled this in wrong, you only tick if your over 40 and I said that's right in 40 and she was quite shocked. Made my day Grin

Very glad I'm not going to be the only of 'very' advanced maternal age :)

My dr called today and told that I have a UTI and prescribed me antibiotics! I certainly don't feel that I have one. Very strange.

She also told me that I had GBS in my urine and that they're going to treat me as being GBS positive and give me IV antibiotics during labour. Time for some reading up on what the NHS does methinks as I don't fancy me and bubba being pumped full of antibiotics unnecessarily.

travispickles · 17/01/2014 03:38

Wide awake at half three! So fed up of not sleeping well ... I was given antibiotics in labour as had fever and waters broke early. They thought I had strep b and my dd was born with temperature so was also on antibiotics. But it can be nasty if untreated so I was happy to do that. Otherwise you can have planned section which avoids chance of passing it on I think.

HungryHorace · 17/01/2014 03:56

You'd definitely get antibiotics if they knew you had GBS, though they don't routinely test for it, which is weird.

I'm awake too, Travis. But I have DD to thank. Probably won't get back to sleep for hours now. :-/

Not sure I've had my nightly weird dream yet, so maybe that will hurry me back to sleep!

FizzyPinkWine · 17/01/2014 05:27

Can someone add me to the list please? Don't seem to be able to do it on my phone.
FizzyPinkWine, 32, DC2, due 5th August (although I think EDD will change when I have my scan!)

I have really been craving anything carby. This week it's been jacket potatoes, so not too bad apart from the frankly ridiculous amount of butter I need on them!!

It's been lovely seeing all of the scan pics on Facebook.
Welcome to all the newbies.

travispickles · 17/01/2014 06:47

Mmmmm butter..... (Homer like)

OveranxiousUnderated · 17/01/2014 07:13

A week today untill my dating scan and time seems to be standing still...I am not the most patient person at the best of times.

Becoming harder to hide due to my ever expanding waistline...I very much look pregnant.

My crumpet addiction isn't helping...I am obsessed, it's all I want to eat all day every day! Infact the toaster is calling me already. Blush

Hope everyone is feeling well Smile x

babyspice2501 · 17/01/2014 07:29

Mmmmm crumpets!

lucyfluff · 17/01/2014 07:42

All this talk of food esp chips has my tummy rumbling this morning......!!!

lucyfluff · 17/01/2014 07:44

Babyspice Im sure your family will be thrilled when you tell them, Im with the thinking that as long as your happy thats the main thing Smile How old are your other two children? sorry havnt checked back thread!!

Ruggle · 17/01/2014 07:47

My oh was in the bathroom just now when I suddenly needed to vom so ran downstairs to the spare loo and vommed in front of step daughter who was eating breakfast. She knows I've had an "upset tummy" and she knows I keep being sick but we aren't telling her why until after the scan and she hasn't asked (though she is generally very bright and curious) but just now when I apologised for throwing up while she was eating she said "It's ok. It's because your tummy's big."

I didn't think it was THAT noticeable!

babyspice2501 · 17/01/2014 08:15

Lucyfluff my son is 11 and dd 4. I hope your right. They know im really happy with this partner and when we announced we were getting married my mum was over the moon but older sister wasnt? Oh well its my life and I cant do what I want lol I know my son will be very happy!

I sooo want crumpets with loads of butter and marmite now! :(

babyspice2501 · 17/01/2014 08:18

Lol ruggle! I think deep down my son knows as he asked weeks ago if I was pg and had to lie and say no and then he said last night "mum can I ask you what I asked you a few weeks ago?" And I said no lol! But bless him because the other night he was asking if I wanted anything and asked if I felt alright awwww!

Feelingfatty · 17/01/2014 08:56

It's strange isn't it regarding dcs we haven't told dd but she keeps talking about a baby in her tummy! Never has before I was pg! Oh well a few weeks and all the lies and not telling can stop Smile

Ruggle · 17/01/2014 09:04

My step daughter gave me a drawing at Christmas on the back of some wrapping paper. She said "It's you, Daddy, me and the baby.."... I asked "What baby?" and she said it was the baby that we might have some day. I almost cried and gave her a cuddle. I think little kids have some form of ESP. She's only 5.

sillymeagain · 17/01/2014 09:09

Shak - I had un diagnosed gbs with my first and she was in special care very poorly when she was born. They never found out it was that that she had (as they tested her after giving her antibiotics) but reading up on it afterwards the symptoms were very similar that I wouldn't take the risk with my others just in case. There is a charity website that gives loads of info (I'm on my phone so can't check) but in my opinion it is definitely not unnecessary antibiotics. Hope you find loads of helpful info (and don't mind me sharing my experience) xx

Ruggle · 17/01/2014 09:11

Eugh.. sorry..I do keep going on about vom...but helps me feel better to share with the world....Just been sick for the second time today. Has anyone else had to take time off work for sickness? I was off on Weds but managed a full day yesterday after an initial late start (supposed to work 10-6 but did 1pm to 8:30pm) but today is looking like a constant vom day...and I can't face the train journey....but I have a meeting this pm. Might just ask my boss to send my apologies...Urgh. Isn't going to look good!

WeeJo08 · 17/01/2014 09:18

Happy Birthday Shak! Hope you have a lovely day & your surprise is fab Grin

We were in bed late again last night - got a Greys Anatomy disc through from LoveFilm & despite saying we'd only watch 2 episodes we watched all 4! DD was awake crying at 5, then 5:30 & then up (crying) from 7:30 which is really unlike her - think it's the effects of the MMR from last week - the nurse said it can take a week to ten days for the side effects to kick in. She has a bit of a temp & just isn't herself. Hmm Hate it when she's not right & I can't help.

Anybody got any scans today?
