We don't have any nye plans. Ds will be back in an hour, dh is back from work, and we'll probably just dick about for a while.

i don't think I've ever done anything really for Nye.

alteredimages · 31/12/2013 17:55

Thanks for all the advice guys. DH has now tried the labour ward nine times in the past hour, so it's clear they aren't answering on purpose. DD has fallen asleep, so will have to stick her in the buggy and take her along. I hope I am either sent home quickly, or she and DH can come home and see me again in the morning. Hope you all have a great hogmanay and see you in 2014!

Humpty, I am afraid I don't know if they do the new year baby thing in the papers here. Maybe we'll find out!

TobyLerone · 31/12/2013 17:58

Do you not have a mobile number for your midwife, altered?

OP posts:
fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 18:09

Doesn't sound ideal altered

is there a main switchboard you can ring?

BandontheFun · 31/12/2013 18:09

Altered i'm sure evrythings fine but can you not call NHS 24 to check? Seems crazy that you can not get through to a midwife.

Hope everyone has a great New Year. I'm not really a new year kinda gal so will be sleeping for 11. DH is off for two days so hopefully get some more organising done.

Percypiglet · 31/12/2013 18:13

We're getting to the end of another thread.......!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 31/12/2013 18:25

altered I'd try the main switchboard number. That's just weird.

Happy New Year everyone, no plans here, just TV and maybe a film later. Hope 2014 is the best year ever for all of us.

percy are you going to start a new thread then? Wink

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 18:33

We can all certainly talk!

we're gonna do our own thing until 9, then watch a movie. I have shloer in.

i tried to feel my own cervix, I've been able to with ease, last time i tried was a week ago.

no dice. I think it's too far back and too high. Which means nowhere near ready. I won't be having this baby anytime soon i don't think

Frizz1986 · 31/12/2013 18:33

Altered can you call another number at the hospital and say you can't get through to the midwives. They should always make sure there is someone around to answer the phone as you do have to call once ur waters go.
It might be someone has left the phone off (that happened at midwife centre)

Thanks for all the continued advice and support. I think she is getting better but still worried and don't want her back in hospital.

TarkaTheOtter · 31/12/2013 18:39

altered can you ask to be put through to the antenatal/postnatal ward. At least they will be midwives so should be able to tell you what's normal.

TarkaTheOtter · 31/12/2013 18:42

Still waiting for some space on delivery suite. Grrrr. Might write dd's thank you notes to put in with birth announcements. Hospital seems to be shutting down for the bank holiday so not sure tonight will be a great night to give birth anyway.

enormouse · 31/12/2013 18:44

No nye plans either over here. Dp is making burgers and we're watching the big bang theory countdown on e4 [old fart emoticon]. I'm also surreptitiously shopping on asos. Becksondergaard scarves for under £10.

altered I second calling the hospital switchboard and being put through to antenatal. I went straight in when my waters went with DS (and they were completely clear)

TobyLerone · 31/12/2013 19:04

I haven't been able to feel my cervix since I was first pregnant. I keep trying, but nothing :(
DH isn't sure if he can feel it either, when he's inserting the EPO for me. He has much bigger hands :o

AnotherStitchInTime · 31/12/2013 19:04

altered try calling one of the other numbers such as maternity triage, antenatal or post natal ward if you can't get through to the labour ward. Failing that is there another maternity department nearish to you that you can call? Sure that pink is likely your plug/blood from cervix, but get checked just in case.

Tarka, not long now I reckon you will have the first baby of 2014!

sultana hope you are busy cuddling a squishy newborn and catching up on some sleep x

space lovely to see you, 2014 is definitely going to be your year as toby says.

No NYE plans here, just going to enjoy being at home with my family. Not really my thing anyway, haven't been out on NYE since before I was pregnant with dd1 5 years ago. Hoping we might get to watch some free fireworks from our flat.

BookTart · 31/12/2013 19:14

I hope you get through to someone useful soon altered.

We always stay in for NYE and do some karaoke, so we'll be doing that this year. Luckily I'm shameless enough to do this sober! Happy New Year everyone Smile

Angelesque · 31/12/2013 19:34

Another one having a quiet night in! First sober NYE in years... And quite happy about it! Might just have a pre-midnight preparatory nap actually...

Looks like we might have a few New Year's Day babies - exciting!!!

Have a lovely evening all... X

Mythreeknights · 31/12/2013 20:06

altered can you go in without calling first? Good luck

BuntCadger · 31/12/2013 20:07

Exciting there may be nye and new year day babies here :)

Saw mw today I'm measuring 40 weeks, been having niggle pain and back ache but that's it. She had a quick check and I'm 1cm so she gave me unofficial sweep as could feel baby head. Been using epo last couple of nights and sex. I had good chat with labour ward and looks like I can try water birth after all Smile

Wishing you all a happy new year, I'm looking for to my pink bubbly! X

MrsVDB · 31/12/2013 20:52

I'm another one staying in. Just had a Chinese, got alcohol free koppaberg and now in pjs watching grand designs. Rock and roll!

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 21:22

My in laws have just left. They dropped ds off at 18.30, offered them a coffee and they have just left. They seemed surprised we hadn't eaten. Dh didn't get home until 6 and we hadn't had the opportunity.

so a ready meal is in. Hopefully will eat in 30 mins

Frizz1986 · 31/12/2013 21:26

Just wanted to wish everyone a fab new year and looking forward to news of the first NY baby!!

We have stayed in for the past forever number of years. My last NYE out was in 2007! Its just not for me.
I do hope i will be awake feeding the little munchkin though!

GummiBear74 · 31/12/2013 21:51

We're boring old farts who usually stay in for nye as well. This year we went to the lovely restaurant round the corner for early dinner and have been lying on the sofa groaning (and watching Indiana jones) since then.

Hope altered got through to someone in the end. Good luck to everyone else who's in the process of producing a new year baby!

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 22:04

Have you been able to get through altered
just had Asda's Cumberland pie. Was rubbish. So put a pizza in.

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 22:19

Anyone else experienced this? It felt like a lightening bolt of pain from the top of my bump down to my belly button. It didn't last long, couple of seconds, but it was like i could feel it move diwb. Now it's sparked a hard belly.

don't remember it with ds, but want to know if it's bornal!

MrsVDB · 31/12/2013 22:26

I've been getting these pains for the last couple of days. Feels like I'm being stabbed. Assume it's just baby moving and sticking sharp bits out with not much room
