I have The Rage today. I need to go into town and DD wants to come with. But she's STILL not bloody ready! I'm seething. I have so many better things to do, and it's already lunchtime and nothing is done.

So rather than do the skirting I have been to boots and got the rest of bits for hospital bag, sports direct and got the perfect dressing gown, picked up and got car seat fitted and visited the birth centre (which is lovely) so feeling a bit more positive :)

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 12:34

Toby - i hate waiting for other people. Especially when i know i could have been and gone in the time i spent waiting for then to be ready.

Mrs - sounds like everything is going well! How long until the due date?

MrsRApilot · 31/12/2013 12:37

Argh toby I can understand your rage

mrsv clearly shopping was a far better idea than DIY Smile

Well, DC were out the front playing and then, just as there was a nice audience, DS-S came and informed us that DD was stuck up a tree. What made it worse is that I was watching her had thought she was happily sitting in said tree, but no! she was well and truly stuck. Whoops clearly I am not winning any parenting awards

HabitualHobbyist · 31/12/2013 13:59

I could do with some advice re nursing bras. Some of the hospital bag lists say to be measured up at 37/38 weeks and take some with you for as soon as the baby is born, but other websites advise to wait a month until after the baby has been born before being fitted.

What are you all doing?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 31/12/2013 14:09

mrsv hope you are feeling better, if it helps, I have a half filled in preggo journal too, it's amazing how you just don't get time.
Take a photo now of your bump, that'll surely cheer you up and be something to look back on.

frying You are SO nesting! Hehehe

toby leave her behind. Silly girl. How frustrating.

Have had two naps, both of which I woke up from with strong period type pains. Got all excited until I went for a wee and realised that was what was causing the pains... Come on baby!

choco ooh, not long then! So glad you'll finally get a break. Good luck!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 31/12/2013 14:11

hobbyist haven't been fitted yet (due fri) as shops aren't somewhere I can face going right now, not in the sales.
I have one nursing bra, and two sleep bras, will probably make do until milk comes in. The idea of being barged and shoved just to get measured is not a nice one!

HabitualHobbyist · 31/12/2013 14:15

Thanks Humpty. I'm wearing maternity bras at the moment, so not nursing but at least comfy, and might try get hold of some sleep bras / crop tops for hospital.

TobyLerone · 31/12/2013 14:36

I haven't bothered being fitted for a nursing bra. I've bought a couple off ebay and I will use those and sleep bras/hidden support vests and see how I get on. It's nothing which can't be got easily if I need to.

Went to town. DD finally got ready! Then went to grandad's to do his housework. Now DD and I are going to put the crib together and I might run the hoover round.

Whoops MrsRA :) Don't stress yourself out about the c section, it will be lovely and calm and when Alexander is in your arms it will make it all worth it.

Grrr teenagers toby, they can take hours just to do their bloody hair!

enormouse hats off to you with cleaning and essays whilst suffering with sciatica.

choco I was completely not organised for Mason's arrival as I was never at home long enough to sort things, but you know it is all fine and getting sorted now.

Yay for lovely and supportive DP/DH's. Mine deserves a medal, he has done all housework and childcare for the last two months and now is caring for me too.

Frizz1986 · 31/12/2013 15:49

Wow to those out and about doing things with all these pain issues. I cant bring myself to do anything much due to fanjo ache (assume all part of the tear situation)

Mw came and aurelia has put on 10g. I am really happy with the fact she was putting on weight but the midwife made sure to comment that its not much.
She has fed every 3hrs at least since being in hospital and has fed for at least 15-20mins and overnight and this morning she fed for 30-40mins so surely she is getting enough hind milk to grow. Does it take time for the weight to register??
Not sure what more we can do.......

TarkaTheOtter · 31/12/2013 15:50

So still no baby but pessary did it's job and I'm just waiting for a bed on the delivery suite. I'm in early labour anyway I think but next step is breaking waters and starting syntocin. I'm 2cm dilated but only having sporadic contractions. They are painful but still manageable - so no doubt a long way off birth. Bishops score now 7 (up from 1/2 before pessary). She said the membranes were bulging and the baby's head was right there.

For whoever asked up thread about stretch and sweep... The midwife did this when she took out the pessary and it started a good hour of strong contractions 2/3mins apart. They have now tailed off a lot but it obviously did something!

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 15:52

Toby - I'm glad you got into town

humpty - possibly! I finally feel ready. The house is clean, Ds is ready for a brother, i finally feel ready to be a mom of two, and dh is wonderful. Just waiting for baby

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 16:33

Sultana - how yo holding up love? I'm hoping you either have your baby now or that the end is in sight for you

Spacefrog35 · 31/12/2013 17:00

frizz it sounds like your midwife is just being a bit of a cuntpuffin. You're doing a great job with Aurelia. Perhaps if you're concerned, then maybe speak to someone else? Or perhaps give one of the helplines a bell & chat with them? I think sometimes the midwives and nurses forget that we don't all deal with this day in day out & we worry!

Congratulations to everyone Thanks and hope those of you who are hanging on in there are not to uncomfortable.

So are who's volunteering for our first bub of. 2014 then?

Mythreeknights · 31/12/2013 17:00

tooth huge congratulations!!!! Another clever mum to casually give birth, making it sound so easy. Well done you!

sultana I am hoping you are not experiencing a three day back to bak monstrosity which is what I had with my first. Huge hugs if labour is still enduring...can't be long now!

tarka thinking of you and hoping the induction goings smoothly and you are the next one to pop, brilliant date for it too, parties for life!

Well, I had my mw appt yesterday and other than bp being right up, bloods came back today and apparently I'm borderline anaemic so need to start taking the dreaded iron tablets, but chemist is closed and likely to be closed tomorrow too...and after all the seriously stabby fanjo pain I had this avo, I don't know if I have got that long left. frying my due date buddy, how are you feeling, any signs??!

Happy new year to everyone, what a journey we have been on and hopefully will continue to share together xx

alteredimages · 31/12/2013 17:09

hello everyone

hope you are all preparing for great new year celebrations, and not on mumsnet, but if any of you are, my waters have just gone but they are quite a pronounced pink. My rational self says this is normal and not to freak, but my crazy side thinks blood can never be good and also the labour ward isn't answering the phone for the first time ever. Ugh. I don't really want to go to the hospital unless I really need to but also don't want to ignore things if this is a problem.

Any ideas/suggestions?

fryingpantoface · 31/12/2013 17:25

Altered - stay calm first off! It could be nothing. Keep trying to get through to them. I've read that they can be pink, its the blood vessels from your cervix dilating which make it pink. So normal.

Space - i was going going to volunteer, but i think altered is going to win!

mythree - nothing here. Wetter than normal, stabby cervix, and tight bump.

Percypiglet · 31/12/2013 17:25

Hi Altered , I am sad enough to be here and not thinking about NYE. I think if there's blood in the water you're meant to go into hospital. Can you keep calling the labour ward? Good luck. My friend had this situation and all was fine with her and bubba so please don't worry unnecessarily but yes, good to get some medical advice. Hope you don't have to spend NYE in hospital but will all be worth it when your lovely little babe is here.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 31/12/2013 17:38

altered keep calling. I'm sure it's fine, but you won't relax until you speak to them, plus you're meant to call when waters go. Is your OH there, or someone who can keep trying for you? Or try switchboard at hospital and explain.

toby you made it!

space would love to volunteer, but I don't think it will be me.

frying aww, I hope you go into labour soon.

alteredimages · 31/12/2013 17:39

Yeah, we keep trying but I am figuring they are probably not answering because they are understaffed and too busy!

I am currently having some cawl to keep my strength up and will head to the hospital soon. Still contracting but quite mildly. Biggest challenge now is convincing DD out of her new rapunzel pyjamas. I am tempted to take her to hospital in them. Would have preferred to wait til tomorrow morning to go in so she and DH could get some sleep, but hey.

I knew I would go into labour on hogmanay. Just knew it, and when baby had lulled me into a false sense of security, boom! Haha. Well, as long as there is at least one midwife on the labour ward I will be happy.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 31/12/2013 17:40

Oh, and altered put on a pad. They may want to examine the waters.

And tarka hope things move along efficiently for you. Come on BabyTarka!

TobyLerone · 31/12/2013 17:41

altered, keep calling. It's probably nothing to worry about, but they have to answer soon! Exciting, though!

Lovely to see you, space. How are you doing? 2014 will be YOUR YEAR!

frizz, I remember midwives/HVs stressing me out about DD (when she was a bit older than Aurelia) and eventually sending me to my GP to get her checked (she was always a skinny little thing). My GP is also a paediatrician. He said "are you worried about her?"
I said that I wasn't, and he said, "then neither am I".
She was fine. Just little. She's now almost my height, and if anything she's a little overweight.
Basically, you're doing great. She's gaining weight. She's just not necessarily on the right bit of their graphs yet. If you're worried, absolutely talk to someone about her. But if you think she's doing ok, try not to let them get to you.

mythree, which iron tablets have they given you? Ferrous sulphate are the ones which are hard on your stomach. I was given ferrous fumarate and they're fine :)

OP posts:
HumptyDumptyBumpty · 31/12/2013 17:42

altered if you have a Hogmanay baby, do you get a mention in the paper?! How amazing would that be? Your first entry in BabyAltered's photo album would be a newspaper article about them!

Naturegirl82 · 31/12/2013 17:42

No advice altered I'm afraid other than to keep trying the labour ward.

Just popped on to say Happy New Year everyone. Hope you all have a fab start to 2014 whatever you may be doing.

Dh and I were going to be staying in but now going over the inlaws for a curry. Smile
