Happy Christmas everyone!!!

What's a chemical pregnancy? I had two positive pg tests, just assumed this meant I was pg, AF due last Thursday.

whiteblossom · 07/01/2014 18:21

dearD My skin has been really bad (think hiding indoors for two days covered in sudacrem) Grin oh so attractive. Ive found neutrogena products great and their cheap plus a good liquid concealer topped with mineral make-up.

twink Ive read that is more to do with how much the hcg increases over two days rather than the level itself, the hcg level can be low and still be totally fine. thanks, ive everything crossed for tomorrow Smile

nataaalie can you rind the EPU as you have history? Fingers crossed for you that its all ok but totally understand your panic x

welcome choccy waves Smile

gosh this early pregnancy stage is sooo worrying and stressful, that's whats making us tired!!

I need more slow cooker recipes so I can get it on in the morning and not have to do dinner when im knackered! Jeans held together by a hair bobble as recommended by someone one here- fab idea, it works a treat! Grin

BexBoo12 · 07/01/2014 18:21

Twosacrowd, a chemical pregnancy is basically when you get a positive pg test then a couple of days later you have AF - sadly a very very early miscarriage Sad x

whiteblossom · 07/01/2014 18:23

chemical means fertilised egg which didn't implant so positive test then period

I think that correct Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong

topmammy · 07/01/2014 18:35

Hippy, I took Pregnacare pre conception vitamins butMy they upset my stomach so deffo avoiding that brand! I'm taking Centrum pregnancy vitamins now.

Keeping my fingers crossed for those of you feeling anxious right now Thanks

Bex I started feeling nauseous bang on 6 weeks, so might be you next! ;)

Anyone have treatment from a chiropractor? My DH thinks it's a load of quack but I was getting really bad pins and needles/numbness in my leg at night time and they sorted it out without drugs so I'm hoping to carry on going through pregnancy. Although I went today and they won't touch lower back until after 12 weeks which is good.

Tutti · 07/01/2014 18:37

Oh Natalie ... I feel your pain xxx

Xxx

Tutti · 07/01/2014 18:39

I even sent dh to get sanitary towels justin case .... I only have tampons...

Defeatist eh?

TwosaCrowd · 07/01/2014 18:42

Bexboo thanks for the explanation. Would AF come as per normal then? I was due last Thursday so AF is very late for me, did the pg test Saturday. Had a couple twinges which I assumed were implantation.

worry

BexBoo12 · 07/01/2014 18:55

Twosacrowd, please don't worry. AF is usually just a few days late with a chemical, as white blossom says it means that the fertilised egg could not implant. I will reassure you about cramps though, as for at least a week after my AF was due, I had period type cramps all the time which I have read is due to our little beans burrowing in and our uterus stretching to accommodate bean. My cramps stopped completely though this weekend just gone (I am now 5+2) just to give you a rough time frame. X

Topmammy, I hope I get something lol just to reassure me!! Of course I don't want full blown sickness, nobody does, but I imagine it would be reassuring!! I'm poas daily and my lines are showing up as dark as control line now no matter what time of day I do it, and no matter how diluted my pee is. Happy lady here. Going to do a last digi this weekend in the hope that I will get a 3+ weeks then I will stop testing like a mad woman.

Stupidly I thought midwife would have been in touch by now? I was referred by doc last week who put on my form that I could potentially be 10 weeks as I haven't had AF at all since coming off the pill in October. I just thought she would be in touch to arrange scan in a few weeks? Or maybe that's wishful thinking and it's too early??

CumbrianExile · 07/01/2014 19:03

Evening.
Had my doctors appointment today, he didnt really do much. Gave me some info (that I mostly already had off here lol) and then referred me to the midwife. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for that appointment! Although Bex comment makes me think I may have to wait a while!

TwosaCrowd · 07/01/2014 19:15

Thanks bex I had cramps and spotting with DS just after the time AF was due - I kept thinking I was about to start my period then nothing happened, bar a little bit of blood. He's currently a healthy boisterous two year old, if that gives any of the ladies who have had some pink discharge/spotting any reassurance.

My GP told me to arrange an apmt with the practice midwife at 8 weeks.

TwosaCrowd · 07/01/2014 19:16

sorry pressed post too early. When I had DS I didn't know how far I was so I was referred to the hospital for a dating scan.

broodylicious · 07/01/2014 19:20

Just catching up on thread so apologies for probably 15 replies from me now because I can't remember everything and everyone's posts....Blush

Yay!! Congratulations choccy!! I'd been looking out for you from the other thread Smile pleased you've made it over here xx

whiteblossom we had a slow cooker for Xmas and frankly, I've no idea how we lived without it before! I made Thai green curry yesterday. Totally delish and so easy to make. We have the slow cook recipe book and defo recommend it. Happy cooking!

topmammy, have you got a cranial osteopath near you? They are fantastic, like magicians! It's non invasive so no crazy massaging or cracking, they just work off vibes your body give off. We used one for dd when she was about five months old and her sleep issues started - the osteo picked up on silent reflux which was confirmed by the doc later the same day. All sounds new age garbage even to me but I promise, it's worth a try xx

Ok, can't remember rest of what I wanted to post so.....

topmammy · 07/01/2014 19:20

I think my cramps stopped about the same time as yours Bex come to think of it. I have only done 3 tests! Tbh I have been using my boob soreness as a confirmation that I'm still pregnant. They are pretty sore now, even got a little stretch mark on one (noooooo!) They are only small anyway lol. Deffo moisturizing the boobs as well as the bump (when I get one) now!

I'm sure the MW will call you soon if you are waiting but from what my mum says loooads of people conceive around Xmas time so busy busy on the booking appts.

topmammy · 07/01/2014 19:24

Broody, can't say I've heard of cranial osteopathy! Sounds interesting though, will keep it in mind!

PunkyPod · 07/01/2014 19:24

Oh a londoner kmini. I think I'd go for Tommies if I had a choice of the 2. My lovely friend had her prem son there and they were fab. I'm a bit further South and will be having dc2 at the Princess Royal.

broodylicious · 07/01/2014 19:26

bexboo your mw will have to see you first, take your decision for where you plan on having the baby and then refer you to the hospital for your scan. It's such a long winded process to get into that darkened room with a couch, tv monitor and jelly Wink

BexBoo12 · 07/01/2014 19:31

Thanks girls - I just thought she would get in touch soon to arrange scan as doc days technically I could be 10 weeks now, so if that was the case, would be due my 12 week scan in 2 weeks? But I guess it is a busy time of year and I should just be patient. X

Choccywoccydodah · 07/01/2014 19:42

(Waves at broody) hiya chicken!! So pleased to be here, just hope I'm staying this time!
Due 20th sept.

Yes re the chems, it's where you get a positive and have af a few days later like explained. It's the worst thing that I've ever had to go through as just as your hopes are up and you get excited, the bleeding starts about 4/5 days later and it's all over, utterly heartbreaking.

Hoping this little bean is strong enough to hold on. I've been taking baby aspirin this cycle as it's supposed to help thicken the uterus lining to help it stick, fingers crossed it works!!

Choccywoccydodah · 07/01/2014 19:45

Bex, can you get hold of the number for the mw and arrange it direct?
Usually around here they book you in to see the mw straight away for between 8 and 10 weeks.

topmammy · 07/01/2014 19:51

Choccy may have a good idea there Bex if you start to feel that you've been waiting too long. If my mum hadn't rung me from work to book mine I would've rung myself as the doc just gave me the number. You could probably google the hospital antenatal team and find the number.

BexBoo12 · 07/01/2014 20:03

Thanks girls. I have just googled the number for the midwives based at our gp surgery so will give them a call tomorrow I think. I also just need an appointment date so I can let my head know - as the teachers on here will understand, I have to give plenty of notice for appointments and scans so there's enough time to arrange cover. If I am indeed 10+2 weeks as oppose to 5+2, then I'm cutting it fine for a 12 week scan aren't i? Or maybe not, I don't know Confused new at this x

topmammy · 07/01/2014 20:13

Have you told work Bex? I'm a bit nervous of telling my head! Feel guilty already for my plan to take the whole 52 weeks mat leave. But I will have to go back full time most prob, seriously doubt head will permit me part time so I want to take full advantage of the mat leave. Damn my big conscience. I will tell them when I get my scan date if it's on a weekday. Got booking appt on a Saturday luckily.

I have read on Munster somewhere on one of their advice pages that the first scan is fine anytime between 10 - 13 weeks Bex so I'm sure you'll get one in time.

topmammy · 07/01/2014 20:15

Munster? That was meant to say Mumsnet! Haha!

BexBoo12 · 07/01/2014 20:38

Topmammy yes I told work just in case appointment is in the week - she was fine about it. Was funny actually, first thing she said was 'a September baby, you timed that well' haha. Do you know what pay is like on mat leave? Is it full pay for 6 months, half pay for a further 3? I haven't looked into it x
