My verrrrrry faint line earlier gives me an edd of 27 august so I'm going to straddle the two threads providing I get a strong bfp tomorrow (which I should do!!)

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

Beccus · 05/01/2014 20:50

hi ladies, can I join u? got bfp on cbd this am. dd1 is 14 months & this was our 1st month trying Smile. Have waves of sore boobs, exhaustion & nausea. edd 13th sept, same as possum

kmini · 05/01/2014 20:57

noitsachicken I've been freezing all evening. Dh says boiling in here. Craziness!

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 20:59

So pleased its not me who is the first time mum this time around- you have my sympathies those of you in that situation!

This time around I am determined to have a nice gliding crib, I hated our cheap, naff, saggy Moses basket for ds.

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 21:05

bex you're right that's awful.

broodylicious · 05/01/2014 21:08

Hear hear, crowd! Moses basket was ok on floor but we quickly moved dc into a nice little crib. Think I'm actually going to be saving money this time around, now I know what was good/useless for us last time!

DearDinah · 05/01/2014 21:19

Don't forget to share the money saving tips with us first timers!
I'm overwhelmed by the amount of stuff there is in the shops, I looked in mothercare & saw at least 7 different types of sheets/blankets. Why? Confused

kmini · 05/01/2014 21:51

I can't believe how organised you all are! I am far to scared to buy anything until we get to twelve weeks. I am too suspicious I know! Also promised dh no posting on the baby name thread till 12 weeks. Hasn't stopped me lurking incessantly though.

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 22:00

Re; breast pumps. Worth every penny. Saved my sanity, helped me to breast feed until 6 months.

twinkbat · 05/01/2014 22:38

Not brought anything either. Tbh I probably won't buy a lot anyway as sil has kept all her stuff for us, and my brother just had his little boy so lots of stuff for us to inherit! Our attic has a cot & Moses basket in already (sil has no room in hers lol)

BexBoo12 · 05/01/2014 22:45

Topmammy and crowd, I do think it was a little mean telling me there and then - it could have waited at least half an hour!!! You're right, it's not my fault, but I kind of felt likei had done something wrong...hopefully others won't feel like that.

Am I being really spoilt...but, I kind of want everything new???!! Not because there's anything wrong with inheriting stuff - but I think for me that's one of the exciting parts going to look round shops and ordering stuff and it all arriving in dribs and drabs. I am sure I will feel totally different next time round!!!

I would really like a gliding crib for our bedroom for first few months, would anyone recommend this or have you found Moses baskets better?

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 22:54

I HATED our Moses basket. It was only supported on the stand at the top and bottom so it sagged in the musdle, when DS was in it he was so small his head only reached halfway, so he ended up with his head lower than his legs (if that makes sense) and we had to prop the mattress up underneath with blankets.

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 22:55

Middle*

BexBoo12 · 05/01/2014 22:59

Oh crap, I really would love a crib. So did you have anything in the living room? I was thinking of getting a Moses basket for the living room but maybe not...

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 23:04

My silver cross pram could change into a Moses basket, and came with a lovely rocking stand, so I used that downstairs.

topmammy · 05/01/2014 23:08

My current plan is cot for baby's bedroom, gliding crib for my bedroom and Moses basket for living room. Although I just know my cat will take one look at the Moses basket and think "I could pee in that!!". He pee'd in my ironing basket of clean washing on Christmas eve lol, little bugger!

topmammy · 05/01/2014 23:13

Crowd - did you use a manual breast pump or an electric one? I have to say electric ones sound a bit scary to me!

BexBoo12 · 05/01/2014 23:16

Topmammy, oh my days they look terrifying don't they Confused

That is also my plan re sleeping arrangements, although I dare say I will change my mind several times

Newlywed2013 · 06/01/2014 00:17

Hey I'm due on the 11th Smile

TwosaCrowd · 06/01/2014 04:20

Oh this stupid needing to wee feeling is driving me insane!!!!

TwosaCrowd · 06/01/2014 04:39

Mine was avent electric, highly recommend it.

My nether regions are just screaming at me, can't sleep!!

broodylicious · 06/01/2014 06:23

Kmini, not at all - we won't be buying anything til at least 12 weeks either because we want to see everything is ok with the scan first. May treat myself to a new pair of maternity jeans though if this bloating feeling sticks aroundWink

noitsachicken · 06/01/2014 06:30

Morning all!
We only used a moses basket for about 4 months last time!
I am trying to buy anything we need this time secondhand, Facebook selling pages are great for baby stuff.

noitsachicken · 06/01/2014 06:31

Bump band are great for the inbetweeny stage broody make your own jeans last longer!

broodylicious · 06/01/2014 06:32

Re breast pumps - I used the Medela swing electric pump. Fantastic piece of kit but I hardly used it!

Re beds - we had Moses basket downstairs and crib in our bedroom. She didn't move out and into her cot and own room til six months (as per nhs guidelines).

bex not silly or spoilt wanting new. We wanted same with dc1. We borrowed some things and appreciated some hand downs from my sister but absolutely we wanted the thrill of searching and researching for ourselves then buying from all the shops that mean nothing to you til you've got a bump Wink (kiddicare is worth a visit). It's a v exciting time and I think its important all mummies do things your own way to make sure you enjoy it Grin
