My verrrrrry faint line earlier gives me an edd of 27 august so I'm going to straddle the two threads providing I get a strong bfp tomorrow (which I should do!!)

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

DearDinah · 06/01/2014 06:42

Zero sleep last night & a full day of work to look forward too. Today's gonna be emotional!

ThisIsMeNow · 06/01/2014 07:20

Morning! Had a really crap nights sleep, felt so tired but just couldn't drop off. Lots of af type cramps.

I've got a manual and electric pump and used both loads. Don't know if I'll bother this time as actually think I messed my supply up by pumping too much Shock

I can totally understand wanting all new for first dc. I bought a second hand moses basket (new mattress though) as it was the exact mamas and papas one I wanted and I couldn't justify spending the £££ on a new one.

Dp seems excited, had such a good reaction, less shocked than with dd! Think he was getting a little bit worried as it happened straight away with her but this was cycle 5.

broodylicious · 06/01/2014 07:35

I didn't sleep too well either last night. Must be catching Wink Here's hoping for a better night tonight. Slow cooker will be turned on at lunch when dd takes her nap so minimal activity required tonight! Talking of which, dh and I still bonked like mad til I was about five months gone last time - it took us seven months to get upduffed so we were kinda used to dtd often and didn't want to stop! Hahaha!

bugoven · 06/01/2014 07:40

Good luck to all going back to schook today. Hoping I don't cry or be sick on a child and that I don't give the game running to the loo every 2 minutes or subconsciousbump rubbing!

bugoven · 06/01/2014 07:41

*school
Oh dear. Not a great start Grin

isitme1 · 06/01/2014 08:28

Yup good luck to all going back to school.
I had lots of cramps too thisismenow

Ive been having such horrible vivid pregnancy dreams!!

I also kept all of ds1s things for dc2 as I knew I wanted more kids. Now ive handed ds2 things over to sil and shes handed me a bag of new girl clothes (that were handed to her from sis lol) but sil had a boy.

I wouldn't mind 3boys as I'm used to boys but wouldn't mind a girl either. A girl would make me nervous at first as it would be a 1st for me lol.

x

TwosaCrowd · 06/01/2014 08:38

Got a GP apmt to start the ball rolling at 4.20- not a great time as DS will be needing his dinner! Will have to make sure changing bag is stocked up with nibbles.

KitKat1985 · 06/01/2014 09:36

Hello. Going to tentatively give a wave to everyone here. After the world's faintest line on an internet cheapie test yesterday I re-tested this morning and got a notably stronger line. Decided to go for it and cracked out a digi which confirmed that I am pregnant! According to EDD calendars would make me due about 19th/20th September! Will be mine and hubby's first so really nervous but also really excited. We have both wanted this to happen for a long time! However, am aware it's REALLY early days (tested a few days early so won't even be 4 weeks yet, so trying and failing not to get too excited)!

Not sure what to do about work. I work as a mental health nurse in an acute unit for patients with dementia. We have quite a lot of aggressive patients / heavy lifting situations so not sure if I should tell my boss quite early on or not, as don't want to put self in any risky situations, but also don't want to say anything too early in case something goes wrong. Has anyone else had this issue? What did you do?

rockin20s · 06/01/2014 11:05

Hello all I'm going to tentatively join the September club got a positive on a internet cheapy and a Tesco brand this morning. Due date 19/20 which will be our one year anniversary. This is our first and I was convinced it would takes ages due to pocs. I'm in shock.
I know its early but I can't help but get excited I hope my little poppy seed sticks

isitme1 · 06/01/2014 11:10

Awww bless rocking thats a really nice date!
I have pcos and my 1st took around 3-4cycles. 2nd took around 2-3cycles and this one wasnt planned. Didn't think anything like this would happen due to pcos bur hey ho im happy and so is dh.

Kitkat I would let your boss now so they may be able to keep you in work but with less risk? Iyswim?

And congratulations on your bfp Grin

KitKat1985 · 06/01/2014 11:12

Feeling your shock rockin20s. I've been under an endocrinologist for years for period problems and have been told that I would struggle to conceive naturally, so am gobsmacked to get a BFP on only cycle 2. Really hope this sticks. Am so paranoid about MCs from reading stories from other posters. Hmm

KitKat1985 · 06/01/2014 11:16

Thanks isitme1. At the moment I'm also thinking I should tell my boss early. Really don't want to risk anything going wrong, plus she may be more sympathetic then if she can tell I'm struggling to concentrate for a while (she luckily has 4 kids of her own, so I'm hoping will be pretty sympathetic to any pregnancy issues I get).

When's your due date isitme1?

HippyJess · 06/01/2014 11:50

Morning all :) still cramping like crazy here, they're not painful just irritating! Had trouble getting comfy in bed last night due to my uber-painful boobs, glad I'm so excited that it made me happy Wink haha.

How's everyone else doing today? I know what you mean about mc stories kitkat, I just keep telling myself that I have no reason to worry as only one person in my extended family (my gran) has ever had one... Hopefully I'll be able to stay optimistic! Hmm

isitme1 · 06/01/2014 12:02

Im not entirely sure kitkat
Either end of aug beginning sept I think.
Either way will have a section so will get a date.

my mum had 5healthy kids and then around 5mc then 1 child (who I mentioned up thread as she had a massive bleed abd thought she mc'd) then a mc.

How are your symptoms x

KitKat1985 · 06/01/2014 12:16

Yeah, don't think I'll relax until I get the 12 week scan out the way. Have just had a 'bugger' moment after reading some pregnancy articles and realising that my usual multi-vitamin that I've taken for months has vitamin A in it and so I shouldn't have been taking it. Do you think it'll do any damage given how early on I am? Will get some proper pregnacare vitamins in the next few days to avoid any further risk, and not take those multivitamins again. I thought I was doing well as I've been taking a folic acid supplement since TTC, now I realise I may have messed up already on the vitamins front....

I'm also getting lots of cramps hippyjess. Boobs are a bit sensitive though not really painful. Thankfully not really having any nausea yet although I'm sure I will at some point!

Ooh, you're a bit further ahead of us then isitme1. Are you getting a lot of symptoms now? Is it your first?

broodylicious · 06/01/2014 12:18

Yay kitkat!! I said to remain positive, and I'm so pleAsed it worked GrinGrinGrin

PunkyPod · 06/01/2014 13:27

Welcome to all of the new BFPs! I think you need to tell your boss too KitKat. Although physically I’m sure you are fine right now, you don’t want to be put into a situation where you and bean are in danger. I’m sure your boss will be understanding.

First day back at work for me today, the 6am alarm was not a welcome sound. Been sleeping really badly the last few days and DD’s complete meltdowns at going to bed are a strain. Naps are no problem but bedtime is a huge battle in our house right now. I’m blaming the 18 month sleep regression for it and hoping she’ll come through it all soon.

It is so exciting researching all the things to buy for the new arrival, but I was so thankful for all the hand-me-downs we got with DD. She’s still getting clothes from her cousins which is such a money saver. Kids are so expensive!

I borrowed SIL’s medala swing pump. It was fab and I highly recommend it. I had a manual pump for when I stopped feeding just to draw off the excess milk and I have to say I would have had such a hand ache if I’d used it for actual bottle feeds! I recommend an electric pump if anyone thinks pumping will become part of their feeding pattern.

DD used moses basket for the first 8 weeks and then she went into her own room. It was just the right thing to do for us. I also think the mattress wasn’t comfy so I beefed it up with a few blankets. It’s really not the most useful thing in the world and a bedside crib or side-car would be much better. But for 8 weeks use I can’t complain. We just didn’t have the funds for a crib and a cot. Downstairs I used the carry cot from the travel system or the sofa! It’ll be a whole other kettle of fish with DD1 around though next time. She is a whirlwind!

I’m a bit of a baby clothes magnet. I just love getting her new stuff. Although I do stick to staples of vests and leggings (jeans wont go over a huge cloth nappy!). A big lesson I learnt was never EVER to buy a babygro which had buttons at the back or buttons around the legs. Who has time to do up 10 buttons every 90 mins with a kicking baby! Argh!!!! Poppers all the way :)

whiteblossom · 06/01/2014 14:10

Hi everyone,

I've been really concerned about he pain I'm having on one side so I went to see the GP this morning. I actually had a list of things I needed to discuss, as I'm on other meds, which may need increasing due to symtons I'm getting (I have B12 injections every 2 months so this may need to be increased to every month).

So, GP wanted to refer me for a scan today but Hospital wanted him to take bloods so they can check the hcg hormone and then they will ring me, they said at 5 weeks it can be impossible to see anything at all. So I have to wait for those results and once I get those back I can book in with midwife, phew!

I had a moses first time around, for me it was a waste, I too hated it. It was on a stand which I thought could topple over, it didn't ROCK, I need something that had motion, this time I want a cot that swings and I would like to use a cocoonababy but I need to look into all that.

I did swear by a fisher price swing which was just over £100 but we were so desperate we paid it and it was worth every penny, howver they are big and eat batteries so Im on the look out for something similar.

thanks for the info on the fabric thingy (sorry cant remember name) Ive had a look but how on earth do you get the baby init?! Confused Im slighty concerned about the weight on my back.

Im gonna have to invest in a baby bump band thingy (sorry don't know name of this either!) to cover my open jeans, Im really busting and Im hardly eating. Im too scared to buy maternity clothes yet, I feel like Illl jinx it. (but I have had a look and next looks very good)

wow what a long post, welcome newbys, hope everyone is well.

twinkbat · 06/01/2014 14:24

whiteblossom I wouldnt worry about pain. I've had all sorts of twinges on various sides. If they were worried then they'd take you in anyway, 5 weeks or no.

I had my GP's appointment this morning. EPAC were unworried as no pain so I'm in tomorrow for my early scan. I have a god awful cold and slept really odd last night so I could breathe. Cue crick in my neck and my lower back is killing me. Trust me to end up with morning sickness and the flu :(

whiteblossom · 06/01/2014 14:50

on no twinkbat sorry your feeling crap, its good news you getting a scan though, that should put your mind at rest Smile

There are a few of us having sleep issues, I only sleep on my front but it just feels wrong!

broodylicious · 06/01/2014 14:53

Whiteblossom, it was me who have details on the close sling. Granted, it looks a bit complicated but once you've done it a few times, it takes seconds - same with most baby related stuff Wink - and even dh used it so it can't be too tough!

waybuloony · 06/01/2014 15:03

Isitme, we're in the same boat. I have two boys already.
Deep down I would love for this one to be a girl. Obviously it doesn't matter if it's a boy, my two boys are wonderful and like you say, they're what you know!
Just a part of me would like to buy pink this time around...is that an awful thing to say?

A big welcome all the newcomers and esp first-timers! Quite a busy bus!

DearDinah · 06/01/2014 15:13

whiteblossom I'm a tummy sleeper too, but at 3am I was too worried it would overheat bean or cut off blood supply or something else! I read it's ok to until it gets too uncomfortable but I still worry!

topmammy · 06/01/2014 15:16

Urgggh I feel really icky all the time now. Not so bad that I'm being sick but lots of things are making me feel sick, even just thinking about certain foods, especially herby or fatty foods. At the mo the only thing not making me feel sick are chicken dippers and beans and pasta lol! Please tell me this nausea ends?!

waffles1990 · 06/01/2014 15:34

Good advice about the baby slings/cribs etc! Never thought of a rocking one but very good idea. I think this thread is goin to be invaluable for us all!

I've rang my GP surgery this morning and am getting my Midwife appt in the post shortly, exciting! Problem is I guarantee I know the Midwife as I did my community midwife placement as a student in my local area. It's fine but depending on who it is I don't really want them having a good nosey at my history... oh well needs must!!

Is it bad that me and OH have already picked out a first and middle name for both genders?! Had a good brainstorming session last night and actually got somewhere #sealoffate
