My verrrrrry faint line earlier gives me an edd of 27 august so I'm going to straddle the two threads providing I get a strong bfp tomorrow (which I should do!!)

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Universalis · 02/01/2014 23:37

Maybe I should try that tomorrow. Have you got your head around your pregnancy tutti?

Tutti · 02/01/2014 23:40

Yes ... And you ?

Even looked at a couple of baby stuff online .. But at the minute more keen for scan etc .. Have got such belly ache .. Hopefully midwife will ring Monday

Universalis · 02/01/2014 23:42

We must have crossed messages. I'm still a little in denial but weirdly mumsnet is really helping. I haven't told anyone yet I just can't quite do the excited delight also dreading comments from those outside my immediate family. I did make a doctors appointment today and I'm not sure how pregnant I am. Glad you're feeling better, I can see I will get there. I had a sneaky (very sneaky)fondle of some new born clothes in a posh shop today!

Tutti · 02/01/2014 23:47

Well I must say I am not feeling total excitement ... I still have worries .. But I think these are now at 'normal' level SmileConfused

You will get there I am sure .. The fact that you had a sneaky feel of baby stuff suggests that ...

Take each day as it comes ... But I am the same .. Dunno how pregnant I am ... And I WANT to know Smile Smile

Universalis · 02/01/2014 23:53

How many weeks could you be? I think I could be any between 8-4. I couldn't get an appointment for another 2 weeks so that's quite a wait for me just to see a doctor. Have you got a dating scan booked? How did your partner react?

Tutti · 03/01/2014 00:01

Well I am not sure ...5-7 weeks ? I had such a lot going on mid nov to mid dec I just cannot remember when last af was .. I have recollections of it but when??

My dh was fine .. Said he would support me whatever .. As I did the test quote spur of the moment and literally sobbed as the result came up ..and now he is excited ...

My mum was great too I rang her crying and again she was like well you don't have to make a decision now ... It will all work out whatever u decide ... And then said she would start knitting Smile but she was right a couple of days later I do feel better ... I think though cos I have seen the doc and he has allayed some of my fears .. He said the midwife would call me next week ... And then she will book consultant app ... I am hoping they will arrange a scan tbh ...

Metalhead · 03/01/2014 08:18

Ooh Bex you're giving me hope I might get an early scan too - my last period was in October as well! I'm pretty sure I just had a weird cycle and only ovulated two weeks ago, as I had been getting consistent bfns before, but maybe the doc will want to check anyway.

I'm still convinced this pregnancy isn't going to stick because I had such a weird long cycle. And my boobs seem to be less sore than they were two days ago... Still, no bleeding or anything so I'll just have to hope for the best.

BexBoo12 · 03/01/2014 08:29

Metal - my boobs are also less sore. The doc told me not to worry about symptoms coming and going as it's normal. If I were you, I just wouldn't tell them that you think you ovulated two weeks ago - play dumb. Say you had your last period in October and because you thought your cycles were still returning to normal you didn't think anything of it til over Christmas when you got your bfp. That way they will probably say what they did to me - you could be between 9 and 4 ish weeks so the midwife will probably work at 9 weeks to be safe. Scanning you in about 2-4 weeks as your potential 12 week scan, date you from that then if needs to you get another 12 week scan when you really are 12 weeks...does that make sense? Lol x

whiteblossom · 03/01/2014 08:43

morning everyone, its all so exciting!!!

bex so jammy getting an early scan but how exciting!

I found a good website called pregnology.com it dates your pregnancy day by day and has loads of pics and info its quite sweet.

Welcome Waffles and congrats let us know how your bf takes it Smile

Im doing my best to be positive and take it day as it comes, im dying to buy some maternity wear but I just cant bring myself to do it, its just too early. I did have a horrid dream that I lost the baby Sad someone give me a slap!

BexBoo12 · 03/01/2014 08:44

Just did another cb digi am I crazy? and got those precious words 2-3...going in the right direction girls!!

BexBoo12 · 03/01/2014 08:45

White blossom a gentle virtual slap coming your way - only because we need to stay positive, but I also know how you feel thinking the worst. Don't worry too much xxx

noitsachicken · 03/01/2014 08:47

Morning everyone! This thread moves quick when you are out for the evening!

I am going to drop my info into the midwives this morning so that will get the ball rolling.

Hope everyone is feeling well, I am just waiting for more symptoms to hit!

Re breastfeeding chairs, I wanted one last time but we didnt have space. Managed well without (fed DS for 17 months) but did find a cushion useful in the early months.
And nothing wrong with Aug babies, I was just thinking of school years, DS is a June baby so will be one of the youngest, but this one will be oldest. I would just worry about just turning 4 then starting school. But they all level out in the end!

DearDinah · 03/01/2014 08:48

Bio oil contains paraffin oil, I think if you want to use it, I'd leave it till after baby is born, check out lavera.co.uk for organic body butters or green people. Sorry don't wanna sound preachy but since MIL's diagnosis I've been looking at skin care products in a whole new light x

whiteblossom · 03/01/2014 08:50

oh and I swear by bodyshops bodybutter the really high moisture ones, I alternate this with baby oil (apply to wet skin straight from shower) twice a day this worked for me last time xx

yay bex xx

Metalhead · 03/01/2014 08:58

Makes total sense Bex! Grin Only problem with playing dumb is that I saw my GP about three weeks ago because I was getting worried by the lack of a period... Still, I can't be 100% sure when I ovulated, so I'll see what he says. If I can't get an early scan on the NHS I'll just have to pay for one privately, I did last time and thought it was money well spent!

BexBoo12 · 03/01/2014 09:07

Metal how far were you last time when you paid for private scan? X

Metalhead · 03/01/2014 09:42

I think I was 7 or 8 weeks. I've read that if you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks the risk of miscarriage drops to about 3%, and I was so anxious that I just couldn't wait for the 12 week scan.

PunkyPod · 03/01/2014 10:03

I had a dating scan at 9 weeks with DD because it was the post MC cycle. This time I know my dates very accurately so will just go in next week to get the ball rolling. I think my 12 scan will be at the end of February.

I started showing at 15 weeks with DD. Just a tiny little bump but it grew quickly. I had a real bullet bump by the end of it! Am expecting to show earlier second time round. Very VERY excited about this pregnancy Smile

DD is currently running around with my first response test from yesterday Blush

Oh I did an ic test this morning and there was a faint line. Which is fab because yesterday there was no line. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be even more clear.

Universalis · 03/01/2014 10:16

Good morning everyone it's so nice to hear all your excitement. Thanks for the late night chat Tutti! Just finished my morning nausea should feel ok until evening now. Have a good day everyone.

DearDinah · 03/01/2014 10:47

You too universalis :)
Glad to hear your excitement punkypod when I know others are I feel more confident to be excited too!

DearDinah · 03/01/2014 10:56

Does anyone have any concerns about work yet?
I work for a very small company (i'm the only employee) and my boss lives in Spain, he just lets me get on with it and i work remotely over a server in someones house! I'm dreading telling him as i frankly have no idea what he's going to do! We can't have a temp at this persons house and i don't think he's got any plans about covering maternity, even though i have worked for him for almost 10 years! I also tend to do a bit of heavy lifting, really hope i can remember not to do anymore. I usually just work on autopilot and just do stuff since i'm the only one here.
This is actually causing me more anxiety than i thought. I wasn't planning on saying anything until the first scan. We usually go an exhibition early March where i'm on my feet for 4 days 8am to 8pm. I'll need to let him know before then won't i? Confused

Purple37 · 03/01/2014 11:08

Hi all, how are we all feeling?
Dinah, I am worrying about telling work too, I teach and although my dh has said "this time we aren't telling anyone" my reasons for telling are still as valid as they were last time IYSWIM. I needed people to know that if I had to leave my class to be sick (regularly!) then they could step in and also because of conflict situations. It's really tricky...plus my ghostly pallor and bloat means people will probably guess!!!

topmammy · 03/01/2014 11:25

Oo DearDinah I didn't realise that about the bio oil, thanks! I'm going to try and find some of that mum to be bubble bath today too. I think someone said they saw some in Asda..?

PunkyPod · 03/01/2014 12:57

I'm a civil servant and work were fine about me having appointments during work time and then going on maternity leave with DD. I'm sure they were expecting it because they knew about the MC.

There are plenty of women from the office who have been on mat leave multiple times so I'll be ok.

Going to leave it til after 12 weeks though.
