My verrrrrry faint line earlier gives me an edd of 27 august so I'm going to straddle the two threads providing I get a strong bfp tomorrow (which I should do!!)

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

twinkbat nothing wrong with August babies Smile but it would just be better for me mat leave wise as I'm a teacher, also I'd rather my child be the oldest in the class than the youngest but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter lol.

That's good news Bex How did you get an early scan? I want one! Don't even have my booking appt for another 3 weeks as they don't book you here until you're at least 8 weeks.

Belinky · 02/01/2014 20:02

Hey...can I get in on this? :-) Worked out on the nhs calculator thing edd is 2nd September, so just in there. I got my bfp on 27th Dec, and got my docs app next week. Its my first time and I'm flicking between excitement and terror! Bit nervous about the first docs app, and I really want a scan soon after as I'm a bit of a worrier. We'll see!

broodylicious · 02/01/2014 20:28

Hey punky - congrats to you too Smile I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret from dh but I think it'd be brill in your circumstances! When we got married, we went to our suite to chill (not code for dtd, but really just chill and chat about the day so far) between our sit down dinner and evening reception starting - if I was keeping it a secret, I'd wrap the test up in a box and give it to him during that time. Just an idea anyway!

Re breastfeeding - I think all mums have the right to do what they want. I happen to love bfing but it certainly doesn't mean I think I'm a better mum for doing it! And whoever said they'd have felt a failure for not being able to bf is bang on - we did NCT classes (defo recommend first timers) and although they were fab, I do think they place a big pressure on mum to try and get to a year. Really, it's a personal choice and no one else should tell you what's right for you. And formula will not kill a baby, will it?! ;)

bugoven · 02/01/2014 20:41

Hello all!

So exciting to see so many others getting their bfps and joining in.

I had a text from my midwife today and I'll be around 10weeks when I'm booked in. Rather impatiently booked a private scan in 2 weeks.

Visited a friend with a 3 month old today and she handed me a sack full of beautiful maternity clothes, all gorgeous and in the right size. Also had a look at some gorgeous (and thankfully gender specific or I would have spent a fortune) baby clothes in Next today. I honestly feel like the luckiest girl alive.

Justpenny · 02/01/2014 20:57

Aaaw bug! You sound so excited!! I can not WAIT to start buyin maternity clothes and baby clothes! Quick question...does anyone else feel MASSIVE already? I know it's only bloating (or too many sweets over Christmas!!) but i'm literally bursting out of my clothes already :( HELP!!

topmammy · 02/01/2014 21:07

Just I still fit in my clothes but my tummy looked definitely rounder this morning! Probably expanding uterus!?

DearDinah · 02/01/2014 21:09

I just feel...full. Bloated I suppose, I was about to ask about restless legs, I occasionally used to get it, but it's getting worse at nighttime!

Justpenny · 02/01/2014 21:14

I feel ginormous!! I know it's probably just bloating but I could pass for 6 months pregnant already! haha! and YES to restless legs Dinah...its so frustrating!!! And so early to be suffering like this already! haha!

BexBoo12 · 02/01/2014 21:30

Whiteblossom...doc app was fine, she weighed me, took bloody pressure, talked about pre natal vitamins and then filled a form in for referral to midwife.

For those asking, the reason doc thinks I should have scan in about 3 weeks is because I haven't had a proper period since coming off the pill in October - only 2 days spotting. Although at the time, I counted the spotting as a period, and got a positive ov test on time etc, my own personal dates date me as 5 weeks on Sunday, but she just wants to rule out me being as far on as 9 weeks. I guess sneakily you could always fib about your last period to get a sneaky early scan Wink

PunkyPod · 02/01/2014 21:34

I told DP! Wrapped up the test in a box. He's thrilled and happy I told him now :D

waffles1990 · 02/01/2014 21:36

Hello! Another Sept 2014 here :)
BFP today, very strong line!! Approx 4/5weeks, EDD 6th September.

I'm 23, this is my first pregnancy, unplanned and shamefully I'm a Midwife!!!! Should have known better than to take risks. Have been with my boyfriend for 6 months now, he doesn't know yet, he really could go either way with his reaction but I'm hoping it'll be positive...!

It's a COMPLETELY different kettle of fish being on the other side of it all! I feel like I know nothing! Iv been a qualified midwife for a year so I must know a bit though..

bugoven · 02/01/2014 22:04

just I am so excited! I have some impressive bloating quite low down. Even if it is Christmas related I am still giving it a loving rub when noone's looking Grin

bex do you know that opks also show positive for hcg becausw lh and hcg are so chemically similar.

Welcome waffles, another due date buddy!
Is that 5 of us due 6th?

topmammy · 02/01/2014 22:15

That's exciting Bex that you could possibly be 9 weeks!

Welcome Waffles! Congrats! I'm sure you know more than most of us first timers. My mum is a midwife so I know about a few things I probably wish I didn't lol but mostly learning as I go along. It's all pretty exciting though! Smile

Justpenny · 02/01/2014 22:15

Bug im rubbing my 'bump' as we speak! even tho it's clearly just noodles and spring rolls at the minute :) I even put my hand on my back before in that pregnant woman stance and im not even ashamed to say I loved it! haha!!!

BexBoo12 · 02/01/2014 22:17

Bug, yes someone on December bus also told me that, but I got negative opks before the positive, then negative afterwards...so I genuinely would put money on me being 5 weeks on Sunday, but if they want to scan me early to check, I won't complain Wink x

BexBoo12 · 02/01/2014 22:18

Can I also ask if anyone is moisturising their early 'bump' and what with?

nataaaaliee · 02/01/2014 22:22

I was wondering the same thing bex, I have lost over 4 stone and managed to get rid of stretch marks I dont want to get them now Grin

just wondering if anyone is having headaches? I swear every night around 8 mine appear Shock

Tutti · 02/01/2014 22:22

Well my boobs are sore today ... And lots of back pain and pulling in abdomen.. I do feel 'fuller' ... I can't remember when period was though .. At the time there was lots going on .. New job .. But covering for old one .. Aargh ! I think Edd is about the 7 sept .. But when I see midwife I will say have no idea and also am concerned about level of pain in belly .. I keep knicker checking .... ( ironic given my feelings the other day)
I may here from midwife Monday .. Doc said she would ring me ... Back to work tomorrow .. After having all Christmas off ... But nervous that someone will notice .. And I still in probation til February... Eek ...

topmammy · 02/01/2014 22:30

I got loads of body butter for Christmas so will probably use that Bex or might try that bio oil stuff for bump moisterisation!

BexBoo12 · 02/01/2014 22:34

Natalie and topmammy, I don't want stretch marks either Hmm so going to start moisturising at the weekend. Will use body butter for now, but may also try bio oil. X

topmammy · 02/01/2014 22:38

Anyone know at how many weeks an actual 'bump' will start to show?

BexBoo12 · 02/01/2014 22:43

I think about 14 hun but it varies from person to person x

Universalis · 02/01/2014 23:29

Can't sleep can't sleep can't sleep. Why ? I'm tired I want to sleep. Is this really a symptom of pregnancy? Anyone else finding it hard to drop off?

Tutti · 02/01/2014 23:35

Yep ... But that could be cos I had 2 hours sleep earlier this afternoon Smile

Tutti · 02/01/2014 23:36

How are you feeling now universalis?

My head is in a better place .. Am starting to get excited ... I just hope everything works out now I have convinced myself that another child will be fine
