My verrrrrry faint line earlier gives me an edd of 27 august so I'm going to straddle the two threads providing I get a strong bfp tomorrow (which I should do!!)

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

I know what you means about symptoms, Ive had the tiredness, sleeping in the day. tummy & back pains but that's it...However my first pregnancy I had the stretching feelings went off coffee then the sickness started at 6 weeks.

I don't appear to have gone off coffee- off to sniff it now lol. So if the sickness does not appear at week 6 then ill probably worry a bit more!

Is anyone finding their jeans tight on the tummy/waist area?
Anyone slapping on the bio oil/creams lotions etc in a bid to avoid stretch marks?

How many have told people? Or are you waiting till 12 weeks? Im waiting but have told GP/Pharmacy/DH/One relative who will keep it under her hat!! that's loads!!

noitsachicken · 02/01/2014 12:32

hubby I think its a common feeling, breasts are so sexualised its hard for people to see them for what they are intended. There is nothing weird or disgusting about it, and when you feed your baby you will understand Its worth finding your local support group whilst you are pregnant, you could watch some mums feeding and see its not so strange! Smile

noitsachicken · 02/01/2014 12:34

whiteblossom my jeans are tight but I think that's more Christmas than baby!

Hubbythecatandme · 02/01/2014 12:45

Haha jeans are tight which I think is very unfair as I had lost 8 lbs before Xmas and didn't didn't stuff my face too badly over the festive.season. I am sure I have water retention as well as flipping cellulite making my thighs look awful... ah well back to the gym on Saturday, trainer said it's fine to.
I feel really guilty viewing breastfeeding this way, I hope I don't feel like this.with my baby. I think "breastfeeding" = me like a cow and I just find it scary having a baby sucking on my boobs :s

Hubbythecatandme · 02/01/2014 12:46

Good idea about support group.

DearDinah · 02/01/2014 12:55

noitsachicken does breast size matter if you want to breast feed? I only have tiddlers & worried they won't make enough! Lol!
I feel rough today, worried I've got a tummy bug, really dizzy & limp, perhaps that's what fatigue is, is it?

noitsachicken · 02/01/2014 13:16

deardinah no breast size anything to do with how much milk you produce. They will get bigger anyway, I am an a cup but went up to a double D!

noitsachicken · 02/01/2014 13:16
  • anything = has nothing.
DearDinah · 02/01/2014 13:56

natalie Yep you're definitely upduffed! Grin
Thanks noitsachicken better get some new bras then! Lol!

broodylicious · 02/01/2014 14:56

Hello everyone! [waves] I just got a BFP an hr or so ago!! Eeeek!! we only started trying this month so I'm quite impressed with DH's little swimmers Wink I wasn't planning on testing yet because I knew I'd be upset with a bfn and then cross with myself for putting myself through it! Hey ho, all good, fingers crossed.... Just want dh to come home from work to tell him now! He will be suitably impressed as well but I imagine quite shocked it has happened so quickly.

We have a DD who is 21 months so should be a nice age gap and she is incredibly loving so I think she may cuddle new baby to within an inch of its little life! Do any of you have another dc as well? How do you think they will cope with their new siblings?

Purple37 · 02/01/2014 15:08

Hi everyone can I tentatively join? Have now done a variety of tests and they are positive but it's very early days, edd will be 17th September all being well. Natalie I feel your pain, had a mmc in July and am on full on panic systems. Comparing lines, knicker checking and awake all night worrying!!
Congrats to all!

Justpenny · 02/01/2014 15:25

Well I bit the bullet and called my mum! she said she's worried that my DS will feel left out (I have nothing to do with his dad so she doesn't want him to feel jealous of a new baby with a mum and a dad), but I don't think that's an issue! I'd never ever put a new baby before him, and he's 8 now, so the age gap means they're not gonna be fightin over the same toys or anything! Anyway, she didn't sound mega pleased, just kept repeating that she had concerns and had hardly slept all night. I had to bite my tongue, I hardly slept either cos my back is ACHING and no matter how I slept I couldn't get comfy, then when I did I needed a wee!! but I kept my mouth shut and in the end she said congratulations...but really flatly and a teeny bit sarcastic! dunno if im just imagining that tho!

It's out in the open now tho and I couldn't be happier!!!! Eeeek! This year we're all gonna have babies!!! How exciting is that?! :) xx

whiteblossom · 02/01/2014 15:31

Hi broody & purple

Purple I cant help knicker check either Im just desperate to get to 12 weeks so only another 6+ weeks that's quite a long slog...Hmm Im really paranoid this time and I don't know why which make me question my instincts.

I just want to relax be positive so I take each day at a time, that's all I can do!

whiteblossom · 02/01/2014 15:37

just well done be being brave and calling your mum. Its done now so you can breathe a sigh of relief! she will get used to the idea, perhaps she thought you were done..? I know our family will be like that and we have said it ourselves enough over the years I cant wait to see their reaction when we tell them Grin

nataaaaliee · 02/01/2014 15:51

Thanks ladies :) feel so much more ressured but nodoubt worrying up until the babs out :)

Purple37 · 02/01/2014 16:08

Natalie, just looked at your pic of Internet cheapies and mine are exactly the same.. Varying degrees of faintness! Have since done clearblue digi and clearblue plus which were much more reassuring, big fat cross and 'pregnant 1-2'. So far so good.

Metalhead · 02/01/2014 16:31

Hubby I know where you're coming from with the breastfeeding, and I won't lie to you - at first it did feel very weird for me! I also found it quite painful for about 3-4 months, despite DD latching on properly. Not saying this to scare you off, but I think quite often you get told if it hurts you're not doing it right, and that just wasn't true for me.

I did feed DD for 9 months in the end, and am glad I did, but at the same time I won't be beating myself up about it if I have to mix or bottle feed this time. Although at the time it seems like the most important thing in the world how you feed your baby, a few years down the line no one gives two hoots about it and from what I've seen from friends there are no discernible differences in health or weight or whatever else bfing is supposed to be good for between bf and ff babies!

(Don't want to put anyone off as I said, and certainly don't want to tread on anyone's toes, but I felt such huge pressure to bf and had a very hard time with it that I feel it's important to stress that ff is perfectly fine too.)

PunkyPod · 02/01/2014 16:35

Hi Broody. Congratulations! I got my BFP today also, am buzzing!

Haven't told DP yet. We get married in 2 weeks and I wondered if I could keep it secret and tell him then as a sort of "gift from me"? Or should I just tell him now? He knows AF is due in the next week (I've been vague with him coz it's actually due today!) so has been asking if I've come on. What would you all do?

My dd is almost 18 months. She's a handful at times but I don't think she'll be jealous. Hope not anyway!

Feel so so lucky!

Justpenny good stuff on talking to your mum. It will settle with her and just watch in a few weeks she'll be checking how you're doing and waiting excitedly to see your scan pic Smile

Justpenny · 02/01/2014 17:18

Thanks Punky! I know, i'm sure she'll come round and will be getting on my nerves soon with questions and things so I should really just be glad of the peace for now! haha! She's on her way round now to pick up my son and i'm actually shaking with nerves!! it's one thing talking to her on the phone...it's another thing to see her in real life! and if she brings my dad with her...eeek! you wouldn't think im 31!!
That's so cute about keeping it a secret and giving it to your hubby as a special gift!! will you be able to keep it in tho? 2 weeks is a long time...I cant hold my own water and told my best mate while my wee was still drying on the pee stick! haha! :) xx

topmammy · 02/01/2014 17:27

Welcome Broody and Purple! Congrats! Hope I haven't missed any other new ladies, there are always new people every day, it's amazing, but hard to keep up lol.

Thanks for your insight Hubby 're. my bro, will keep a close eye. My mum and me are quite protective over him anyway but sometimes I think that holds him back a bit in some ways. Like he's only just started using the bus on his own, my mum usually ferried him about everywhere but the thought of him alone on public transport was a bit scary!

Re. Breast feeding.. Might be a tad early yet but I was thinking of getting one of those nursing chairs that are meant to help you get into the right position. They look pretty much like a normal armchair to me but apparently can help. Anyone tried one before? I really hope I can bf as you give your baby your antibodies/immunities to illnesses and its all at the right quantity and temperature ready made, no messing about with bottles!

broodylicious · 02/01/2014 18:32

Topmammy - we had a bfing chair but tbh I hardly used it. If you find a nice, second hand one, then give it a go but it's defo one thing we wouldn't fork out for again this time around. That said, our visitors seemed to like it Wink I'm v pro bfing - still going with my dd and she's 21m now - so happy to answer any questions anyone may have. Bit concerned about jealousy issues once another comes along but we'll see what happens. Apparently, your milk changes taste when you're pregnant and a lot of babies go off it so I'm hoping she chooses to as well - just can't imagine feeding her with a big bump in the way Grin

twinkbat · 02/01/2014 18:58

hey whats so wrong with august babies? That said Im kinda hoping I'm at least a few days later that it looks like - otherwise its going to be a busy week! (dsil, Dh and me are all last week of august). Dh is actually a bit gutted its so close to my birthday - its my 30th and hes been plotting a huge party forever. Now the only thing thats going to be huge is me.

Anyone told work yet? I think I'm going to have to as my boss (who knows we are ttc) is off on holiday for 3 weeks and I'm going to be working 6 day weeks, sometimes quite physical, to cover (small business). Yeah, great timing! so I'm going to have to at least tell my manager so I'm hoping I'll get some slack (Worked today and I fell asleep in the car with about 30 seconds when dh picked me up)

Also, I worked out my mat leave coincides wonderfully with the busiest time of year. I'm so going to be miss popular at work!

BexBoo12 · 02/01/2014 19:12
