My verrrrrry faint line earlier gives me an edd of 27 august so I'm going to straddle the two threads providing I get a strong bfp tomorrow (which I should do!!)

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DearDinah · 31/12/2013 19:01

justpenny I think we'll notice all sorts of aches & pains now, I read that from conception the uterus expands rapidly to make room so it's got to have an impact on our insides.
If you want to buy clothes now I don't see why not, mum says it's never too soon to start collecting, I've bought a steriliser set from mother are today just because it was reduced from £140 to £65! The sales are too big a temptation! I'll be keeping everything at my mums though, I'm not normally superstitious but don't want to chance anything!
Wishing everyone a very happy new year!

Justpenny · 31/12/2013 19:05

Dinah, thank you!! Have got 6 items in my basket so far and just needed someone to give me the OK to keep shopping and actually BUY it instead of just putting it in my basket! haha!

I haven't told my mum yet...I'm so nervous about telling her, even tho i'm 31, already have 1 DS and live with my DP! For some reason I feel like a naughty teenager again!! haha!

Happy New Year to everyone too!!! :) xxx

Hubbythecatandme · 31/12/2013 19:06

Aww sounds good judgment and well done on singing single ladies song lol! I sometimes get period like cramps which freak me out but presume it's uterus stretching? Into week 5, baby starts moving soon apparently, can't wait!!
I feel very sorry for English I have to say though :( xx

Hubbythecatandme · 31/12/2013 19:07

Justpenny not judgment silly predictive text!

Justpenny · 31/12/2013 19:15

Me too...:( its hard enough just trying to conceive, have read so many stories about people miscarrying, it's heartbreaking :( xx

topmammy · 31/12/2013 19:35

I am really tempted by the sales too... but don't have the room yet to store stuff (need a massive clear out of the spare room!) and am a bit scared to tempt fate. I looked in mother care the other day and was shocked to see a buggy for £600!!! Don't think that was in the sale though lol. My DH said there will be other sales so I think I will wait.

Hubby I am so getting veiny boob envy right now, haha! I have only noticed maybe one vein! Have had slighty itchy nips though! Anyone had that? Blush

I have been moody with my DH today Sad

Tutti · 31/12/2013 22:00

Hey hey ... Well I saw the doc today.. And I feel a bit more positive ... I had a horrific birth with my ds and was just petrified, he has reassured me , said that it's normal to feel like this , it can/will be a caesarean ( I know that this also comes with concerns) buy my head feels better placed to dGrinal with that than the horror of last time...

And I even looked at prams Smile.. So I am getting there .. Just not like I was first time round ...

topmammy · 31/12/2013 22:57

That sounds positive Tutti Smile I am in a bit of denial about the whole birth bit for now.... I'm sure I'll just cough and baby will fly out lol hopefully I will be more prepared nearer the time!

Hubbythecatandme · 31/12/2013 23:26

Lol just phoned my mum to tell her and I think she is shocked. She said "oh great" but sounding more shocked than happy. Ah well!!!

DearDinah · 31/12/2013 23:29

Has anyone heard of lazy daisy active birth classes, I was looking at that or some sort of hypno birthing class?

topmammy · 31/12/2013 23:43

Aw hubby I'm sure your mum will be excited once the news sinks in! I told my mum after she'd just been on a night shift and only had 3 hours sleep, so she wasn't exactly bouncing off the walls lol.

I have heard of the lazy daisy classes deardinah but I don't think there are any close enough to me unfortunately :( I would like to give some kind of hypno birthing a go though. Any tools that might help me not act like a complete loony are a good idea!

Universalis · 31/12/2013 23:48

I've found out I'm pregnant and also feel completely shocked. I've known for two weeks but haven't even told my husband. I think it's because I know he'll be over the moon but this is our fifth and there will be an eight year age gap between this one and our next youngest. Two of our older children are already teenagers. They are all going to be delighted. I know I'll love the baby and will look back and wonder why I panicked but I'm nearly 40 and thought in 10 years I'd be seeing my youngest off to UNI not still picking up from the local primary. Blimey I'm scaring myself

Jamess2 · 01/01/2014 00:22

Happy new year ladies, this year with luck we will all be new mummies!!! Xxx

Jamess2 · 01/01/2014 00:25

Dubai I've just realised your one of my dd buddies! CONGRATULATIONS!! J hope the pregnancy is going well so far Xxx

Tutti · 01/01/2014 01:26

Universalis .. That's a bit how I feel ... Panic that we were just ok and that now it will be changed ... My mum says this time next year I will wonder how it was never part of our lives .. But I just don't feel that total excitement yet .. At the minute I just seem to be thinking practical stuff mingled with shit what on earth am I gonna do ... Which is hard cos dh close freind and parents are all woohoo about it

reidy32 · 01/01/2014 02:24

Hi ladies, can I join you please? Found out I'm pregnant a couple of days before Christmas. At the moment, the only person who knows is my partner. He's very excited! I'm thrilled but also spent a couple of days just trying to get my head round it all. We fell pregnant in the first month of trying and I really didn't expect things to happen so quickly!!! I'm a fairly cautious person so can't seem to allow myself to get too excited just yet. I haven't visited the GP yet. Planning to give them a call on the 2nd. I guess once I've done that I'll accept that this is really happening!! Ha ha!

NHS due date calculator gave me an EDD of 4th September. This is my first pregnancy.

When I visit the doctor I want to mention my chances of having twins. Anyone else got twins in their family? My nan had non-identical twins (my mum being one of them) and I've heard that non identical twins on the maternal side gives you the highest chance of twins. Eeeek!!!

Hope you've all had a lovely (sober!) NYE! I write this in the early hours of the morning as my OH gets increasingly more tipsy whilst I look on in despair!

BexBoo12 · 01/01/2014 09:34

Happy new year everybody!! I will read back on posts I promise, but as promised, I have put a photo on my profile from my beautiful big-ish day if anyone wants to see xxx love Bex xxx

whiteblossom · 01/01/2014 09:36

Hi everyone, Can I join this thread?

Im 4+2 (I think) due in the first few weeks of September. This is my second, my first will be 8 when this one is born! Im 35 and Im very anxious. I've been unwell for over a week and I figured I had a bladder infection, GP agreed and gave me the only antibiotic I could have and its lingering so Im on a second course of the same antibiotic.

I have aches and pains and I keep telling myself its normal and take one day at a day but its hard!! Today its my back and that concerns me incase the infection has spread to my kidneys because I don't know what they can do as Im allergic to some antibiotics. I feel like Im waiting for it all to go wrong, anyone else feel like that?

The worry is making me grumpy and I want to be happy!!

When I get chance I'll read through all the threads and get to know you all better. Hope you all had a great NYE xx

DearDinah · 01/01/2014 09:38

Oh Bex, how beautiful! I hope it was the most wonderful day for you both! Many congratulations & here's to a blissfully happy new year to the new Mr & Mrs! Wine (non alcoholic toast!)

noitsachicken · 01/01/2014 09:46

Hi,
Happy New Year!
Just joining in, due around Sept 3rd I think.
Have an 18 month old DS already.
We are telling family today, nice New years surprise!

DearDinah · 01/01/2014 09:52

Welcome universalis reidy & whiteblossom & anyone else I've missed, (thread filling up nicely) Congratulations to you all!
universalis I'm sure once the news has sunk in you will feel better about it, your age is just a number & how wonderful to have a new addition to a large loving family, you will have plenty of help I'm sure, you can do this, we women are made of strong stuff whatever our age.
reidy oh wow a chance of twins how exciting! I always wanted twins, mostly cause I thought you'd only have to do it once & voila ready made family! Lol would you be excited if it was? Only time will tell!

whiteblossom sorry to hear you are unwell, I hope this will soon pass, can you go back to your GP for further tests, hopefully the back pain is the pregnancy & nothing else, I've got more crampy as the days have gone on, and can't help getting jittery at every new twinge. Just trying to relax a bit, I've asked questions & been told by several people it's all normal, wishing you wellness & reassurance.
Well happy 2014 everyone, wishing you all blessings & beautiful things & complete strength through any difficulties may they be few & far between xxx

Universalis · 01/01/2014 10:33

Thanks for the kind words. I am slowly getting my head around it. Tutti I'm so glad your mother is supportive that makes a big difference. I have a feeling mine will say all the wrong things another reason for keeping it to myself for now. Anyway enough denial from me. For all of you on this thread CONGRATULATIONS ! For those expecting their first someone told me that childbirth was as bad as you expect but no worse than that when I was expecting my first and for some reason that really helped. Good luck to all. Does anyone else have terrible morning sickness?

Justpenny · 01/01/2014 10:42

Hi everyone!! I've had no morning sickness...yet! but my back and pelvis are KILLING me!! My DP got really sloshed last night, while I lay in bed, eating Terry's Chocolate Orange, drinking milk, and googling my symptoms! haha! Was thinking of tellin my parents today but am worried sick they'll disapprove and I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle just yet!!! Have not long started my PGCE which finishes in June, so am gonna be waddling into classes with a nice big belly towards the end. How have you all told your parents??? xx

dubaipieeye · 01/01/2014 11:24

bex you look beautiful! congratulations!

We have decided not to tell for now, just the complications of the last few years making me hesitant. BUT last night we went to some good friends for NYE, taking my parents with us...decided to tell the hosts in a quiet phone call beforehand so they didn't pester me with booze all night. Reminded them that we are not ready to tell my parents and as we walked the H says "congratulations" v loud! THINK I managed to cover it and it hasn't been mentioned today but phewwww close shave!

Here's to out 2014 babies all x

Universalis · 01/01/2014 11:28

Nothing better than googling symptoms in bed while eating chocolate, that sounds like a great way to see in the new year. I was on the sofa watching despicable me 2 while draining glass after glass of raspberry lemonade. I'm dreading telling my mother, so far she said oh no poor you to 3 of my pregnancies and said she didn't like the names we chose her friends tell me the lovely things she's said about our children to them but to us it's always criticism, the children love her though. I'm worried about telling anyone even the doctor I don't know my dates I feel like a terrible mother to this child already and sometimes cry when I think about it. On the bright side I know when he or she comes I will have a wonderful new born to cuddle and my husband and older children will be thrilled and I know I would be devastated to miscarry so maybe it is all for the best. Sorry for offloading its really helpful though.
