Topshop maternity jeans - leigh are amazing! super soft and comfy, I lived in mine with DD1

Mozart cot musical mobile was a god send, would give me 20 mins to shower and get ready in the morning!

DD1 hated slings (moby wrap and bjorn one) but I think my fault as tried too late. With this baby I'm going to buy one ready to just pop the baby in as DD1 will be 18months so need something so can still play with DD1. Hoping this baby will be a good sleeper and actually enjoy day time naps and not fight them! DD1 had really bad reflux, still on meds for it so think that didn't help.

Really want a co-sleeper but so expensive so think will just borrow a moses basket from a friend again

There is a bouncer / swing on the John Lewis website £200 but looks amazing and if it means the baby will settle might have to splash out and hide receipt from the husband!

coco808 · 13/01/2014 17:47

laDay i'm off junction 26 M5. Would be great to meet up! Smile Good luck with telling work tomorrow.

I had a bad day at work as people have been spreading rumors to my boss that I'm not coming back to work after the maternity leave. I can't even think about not going back to work full time and these rumors can cost me my job! I tried to clarify with my boss who didn't seem too convinced and there are 3 people who have said that to him! Women can be such bitches!

AhoyMcCoy · 13/01/2014 18:46

Oh coco, how bloomin' annoying re: work. Extra stress when you definitely don't need it. Flowers

I'm just past 15 weeks, and think I'm finally past the sickness. So pleased!! Feeling like I'm short of breath more often than usual though - I walk 30min to work briskly an it was a real struggle today and going up the three floors to my desk left me panting!

I think I'm showing a bit. I can see a definite bump when standing sideways naked in the mirror, and close/friends family reckon they can notice a bump in clothes! I weighed myself today and I haven't actually put any weight on yet though (constant morning sickness is good for something then!!)

Plateofcrumbs · 13/01/2014 18:53

ellentullo - the size of my bump is quite variable - it was tiny this morning but sometimes it bloats right out. I'm not showing in an obvious 'look at the pregnant lady!' way at all, but I think someone who knows me might twig if I were wearing a tight top. I am built like a pencil normally though. I think I look like when Mr Skinny ate a pea, but I'm probably just paranoid as still trying to hide it.

Plateofcrumbs · 13/01/2014 18:56

ahoyMcCoy - with you there on the panting after climbing stairs thing. I have 2 flights up to my office and am wheezing when I get to the top, it's embarrassing.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 13/01/2014 19:01

Jaykay ah, possibly, I get the impression they're one size and mine is a bit loose about the waist but holding my jeans up. Maybe they do different sizes?

Coco how awful! I would write to your manager and say that you're aware people have been talking about you and then set out your opinion (possibly adding that you're unhappy to have to defend yourself against gossip!). How awful, poor you.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 13/01/2014 19:02

Also Ellen, I have to say, the baby is definitely pushing my existing podge out in front of it! Plate of crumbs your pea description made me laugh...!

coco808 · 13/01/2014 19:05

thanks for the support ladies..

I think my 'bump' is mainly bloating Grin as it is hardly there in the mornings! I have put on 5lb already though which I am gutted about

BlueC2 · 13/01/2014 19:14

Think my bump is all gas-painful trapped wind this evening Blush and I've yet to get my lactulose from the docs so fear I have an uncomfortable night ahead! Who wouldve thought trapped wind could be so painful?!

coco so sorry about your work situ-bloomin office politics! I think the letter idea sounds good as it gets your side recorded in writing!

elliejjtiny · 13/01/2014 19:22

coco and LaDay I'm on the border too, M5 J26. Coco, I may see you at the dr surgery or hospital. I'll be the harassed looking woman with the very small age gap between DC's Grin.

Jaykay my jeans always fall down with a bump band too, I think I must be the wrong shape for them. I usually wear leggings and dresses.

Does anyone have any meal ideas? DC's eat at 5 and DH and I eat later so I usually make things that can be made together, then divided into 2 dishes. I put one dish in the oven for DC's and then when DH gets home I just have to get ours out of the fridge and put in the oven. I make things like cottage pie, lasagne, pasta bake, chicken casserole etc. Problem is now I can't face chicken, mashed potato is off since I threw up after eating bubble and squeak so everything is starting to get repetitive. Please someone give me ideas before DH is put off pasta for life!

AuntieMaggie · 13/01/2014 19:40

So when tights have two seams on one side its supposed to go at the front? I've been wearing mine over my bum for years Confused

MrsA2 · 13/01/2014 20:12

Coco, that is awful about your work. I too would put something in writing.

I'm also definitely going back - main earner and we can't afford for me not to. One guy at work has said three times in the last 10 working days that 'you definitely won't come back, 'why do you care about X project, you won't be back', 'surely you don't care, you're off soon anyway'. It's really annoying me.

The other day he said the same stuff when it was just the two of us so I made my point quite clear that a) this isn't the 1930s, women can have a baby and return to work and b) I want to return anyway so we can afford our lifestyle.

Idiots. Really annoying, as it is clearly a dig and an opportunity to get one-up on me career wise.

coco808 · 13/01/2014 20:24

that's awful MrsA!! hate office politics! I hope he will back off now.

I will do the letter like everyone has suggested. I was just telling DH that they were also saying that I look a lot fatter than pregnant! ...to my face!!!

ellie that's so cool. I'm on the Blackdown hills south of Taunton. So I might see you at Musgrove? Grin I'll be the one screaming and crying for an epidural! Our due dates are so close, we might end up there the same day

IHatePopUpTents · 13/01/2014 20:26

aunty maggie I wear tights the same as you!!! Have we been doing it wrong all these years?!

I've gone off of rice and any meat with bones, not too intrusive thankfully!! Will have a think of some meal ideas!

coco808 · 13/01/2014 20:33

ellie how about chilli, fahitas, stir fry, enchiladas, stuffed peppers, risotto, baked eggs...

Pearlsaplenty · 13/01/2014 20:39

Had my 16 week check today. Midwife found heartbeat straight away which was a relief, I can't wait to feel the baby moving as I would like to be able to start having the regular reassurance that all I going well, although it seems like my 12 weeks scan was so long ago.

coco that sounds terrible :(

ellie I'm over sickness and am in the eat anything stage now :) but have you tried homemade pizzas? I found these fine to eat and they are easy to change different toppings for different family members etc

SmallOlympianBear · 13/01/2014 21:00

Elliejjtiny, yes I can see that a sturdy baby gym would make sense!

HomeIs, can't remember why I chose the Moby. I remember thinking it looked comfy and supportive. I'd definitely recommend going to a sling library. I'd be curious to try a Close Caboo this time as they look a bit less faffy. I bought the Moby in desperation when she was about 6 weeks, but this time round I'll carry from birth, as long as the baby likes it. Later we used a wrap and a Connecta, but I think that stretchies are more snuggly for little ones. Anyway, there's a great Facebook site called 'Slings and Things - FSOT and advice'

Coco, sorry to hear you're having to deal with that sort of nonsense at work.

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 13/01/2014 21:11

MS is really toying with me.
14 weeks tomorrow and I'm still feeling nauseous every evening - sometimes in the day too.
I'm so frustrated by it.Angry

so far today I had 1.5 brioche rolls, 1/2 small pizza (not as meal, oh no, but a slice every now and then) and 2 choc chip cookiesConfused

Just proves to me that ALL DIETS lie, it doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you eat hardly any of it! Grin

liquidstate · 13/01/2014 21:26

Still sicky here too zing... am 15+5 and getting really fed up now. Angry

Yesterday and today I have horrendous pain across the underside of my bump. I think is just the uterus growing pains but really painful bending down, getting up from sofa etc. have been quite worried and had a few tears earlier. Fortunately midwife appointment tomorrow so can discuss it.

Husband has been persuade that I am booked into the wrong hospital and we should have gone for the other and wants me to change, really annoying as have consultant and 20 week scan appointment booked in with good appointment times etc Hmm.

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 13/01/2014 21:35

A quick hello and good evening from me. Not really been on since before Christmas due to very hectic few weeks.

Welcome to the new comers.

I had my nuchal results over the holidays but it was the midwife calling to say the result was ok, so I hope to get the actual number at my next appointment.

My thoughts on buying things for baby:
You don't necessarily need a pushchair with carrycot. DS was a summer baby and we just used a lie flat pushchair with a nice padded liner to make it cosier.
Although it can be nice to feel you are buying things in advance to spread the cost, it can be worth waiting until you actually decide you need something once baby is born (talking baby monitors, baby bath, bouncy chairs, play mats sort of things here).
Your requirements for nursery furniture will depend on what you already have. For DS we had a totally empty room so bought a set with cotbed, wardrobe and changing unit. If you've already got some spare drawers you might find that you only need to get a cot.
It's impossible to predict if your baby will ever sleep in a Moses basket. My DS slept in it for several months, others never do!

Bump suddenly appeared this morning. I might need to get my maternity trousers out soon!

New EDD 6th July

LaDay · 13/01/2014 21:40

Yay coco and ellie for being close...look forward to a catch up! Am marginally closer to Wonford than Musgrove but Musgrove were very nice when resetting my broken arm in 1992 Wink

Rubbish re your work and grub though...re work i would definitely document it all, and re food I seem to be doing best with plain food at the mo like home made tomato soup and toast...not much help on either side am afraid!

Hope everything is okay with you tomorrow liquid, sounds sore. I have been reading "what to expect" and it does say some people get growing pains (never have me self but then wasn't ever any taught tummy muscles in my vicinity!)

LaDay · 13/01/2014 21:43

maggieandtents ooh you've got me now!
I'm reckoning my belly being bigger than my bottom so they seemed more comfy that way! Confused

ismarah · 13/01/2014 21:46

Been talking to DH about extension plans and suddenly it dawned on me that one of rooms that will get sort of demolished is bean's room. So bean will have to be in with us for much longer than planned - or rather all of beans things will have to be in with us too! Thing is, there's a reason why we want to extend! With both of us working from home the house is bursting and this is all going to be such fun

elliejjtiny · 14/01/2014 00:23

coco I will probably be the one with the 13 month old birth partner if DS4 carries on refusing to take a bottle from anyone but me! I'm just outside Wellington.

LaDay I've had 3 of my 4 babies in Musgrove. The midwives are lovely there and they have some really good painkillers Grin. Peter Andre's baby was born in Musgrove too.

Thanks for the recipe ideas.

icklekid · 14/01/2014 06:25

ellie what about moussaka or a casserole?

I'm 14 weeks definitely a little bump although trousers hide it and morning sickness appears to be on its way only sick in evenings and max once or twice which feels amazing!

Had my scan on 30th still not heard results of downs syndrome although have midwife appointment next week so guessing no news is good news and she will tell me actual results?

Just wait for me to have an awful day and feel sick now I've said it's getting better!
