Due 27th July first time mum

BlueC2 · 30/12/2013 11:59

Feeling like an awful Mum to DS today- DH really not well and been in bed all morning. I'm also not feeling great and am just exhausted so have snuggled on sofa with DS watching Postman Pat. We really don't like him watching too much TV but I just have no energy to do anything else with him (I have read him a few books as well) he's 19Mo - anyone with a similar age DC got any creative no energy using ideas of what we could do would be greatly received :) oh and weather is horrendous so we won't be venturing outside! I love DS to bits but would actually like to crawl back into bed or get my pillow and duvet on the sofa and watch a box set DVD series all day! For those planning a bucket list this could be something to add!

AuntieMaggie · 30/12/2013 12:14

A TV day won't do him any harm Blue especially in this weather. Could you make a little den or have a picnic for his toys in the living room? Or make stamps out of vegetables and use them to paint shapes on paper? Or make paper aeroplanes? I was going to suggest paper mache or making cakes but that's not so good if you have no energy to clean up!

I assume its usual to feel the odd stomach muscle pull at this stage as the uterus is moving? I need to look into how to strengthen my stomach muscles (I know I should've done it earlier) as I had major abdominal surgery a few years ago and have no strength.... any ideas?

MrsB2013 · 30/12/2013 12:20

Juice great news on your scan!

kittens I would ring up and see if they can change your appointment

Good luck for the scans today :)

MrsA I didn't get all the details from bloods, just the risk number. My nt was 1.7 too. I don't know what high hcg would mean, but I have read that with girls it is higher! I'm sure if it was anything serious they would want to see you?

Good luck for those with scans!

Had my booking in today. Midwife had a go finding babies heartbeat with Doppler - warned me that quite possibly wouldn't be able to hear as the wee bean is still tucked behind pelvic bone, and indeed we did not hear it. However the placenta sounds healthy, which is a good sign, apparently!

Got advised not to run whilst pregnant - I just nodded whilst planning to ignore her Grin

Another consultant appointment arranged about ovarian cysts. Made sure I got appointment with a different consultant to last time, although I think this other one is the guy who initial set hares running about me needing surgery. So we shall see!

icklekid · 30/12/2013 14:35

Well scan went well not quite as far gone as thought so now due 11th July but one happy baby! The midwife said straight away about seeing the heart beat which really helped me to enjoy the rest of the scan :-) so nice to be able to tell everyone now!

teaandkittens · 30/12/2013 14:39

no joy in changing my appointment. so I booked a private scan for next Tuesday. I'm impatient and stupid! figured I've saved enough money not drinking though so worth it!
Anyone used ultrasound direct?

MrsA2 · 30/12/2013 15:16

MrsB you are right, I'm sure they would/will be in touch if it's of concern. I read about it possibly meaning a girl too - which is funny as I've had little sickness so have been guessing boy up until now. Apparently vegetarians also get higher HCG too and I don't eat a lot of meat at all so that could be a factor.

Auntie I feel bad hassling my midwife during the Christmas period when it probably isn't urgent so think I'll just wait until my 16 week appointment which is on 17 Jan. Good idea though.

Icklekid glad your scan went well.

Teaandkittens I had an early private scan too - well worth it if it reassures you. Mine wasn't with ultrasound direct though.

Plateofcrumbs · 30/12/2013 15:36

teaandkittens I used ultrasound direct. I was a little bit "hmmm" when I arrived - I was expecting a plush clinic and what we got was a r in the back of a slightly dingy office block.

Plateofcrumbs · 30/12/2013 15:41

Drat that posted before I finished! What I meant to say was the venue was a bit dingy but the sonographer was great! Was really calm and reassuring. She was evidentially a hospital sonographer doing a bit of private work and seemed very knowledgable. Haven't had a scan on NHS yet so can't compare but was very happy overall - definitely worth it for reassurance.

BlueC2 · 30/12/2013 16:11

Maggie thanks so much for the ideas! I now have a busy den dwelling DS while I observe from the sofa :)

AuntieMaggie · 30/12/2013 16:48

Glad he's enjoying it Blue Get some finger lights from Amazon or a torch - hopefully will keep him entertained for a bit :)

ComeBabyCome · 30/12/2013 17:34

Glad to hear scans are going well.
I've got mine on Friday but hubby can't attend, due to work. I've tried rescheduling, but they can only do 3 weeks time.....
I asked if I can video it for him and she said NO....
I've heard some places do DVDs....has anyone had one and how much do you have to pay for photos? (Must remember to take some cash!)

ComeBabyCome · 30/12/2013 17:38

Are any of you suffering from bad wind? It's terrible.....I can't stop farting Blush
I'm really suffering with constipation too, but taking fybogel to help that.....constantly feeling uncomfortable and bloated!!!

I'm looking into starting a gluten free diet as I don't think all the bread / carbs are helping

theborrower · 30/12/2013 17:42

comebabycome last pregnancy I was really windy, this time around it's burping all the time Blush

dollydaydream27 · 30/12/2013 18:07

Hi everyone great to hear about the good scan news !! Congratulations !
I have mine tomorrow I have butterfly's it's at 2.30 I'm very nervous feel like iv bee waiting a lifetime for this and now it's nearly here !

Blueberry234 · 30/12/2013 18:51

Scan all fine date changed till the 10th!

BlueC2 · 30/12/2013 19:19

Will have a look a those Maggie he's been such a star today! And DH too who despite feeling v ill himself had to finish off giving DS his dinner and sort out the mess I made in the kitchen when I spectacularly puked up my dinner all over the kitchen sink and the washing up in the sink! 12 weeks tomorrow-was really hoping the sickness would be over by now!

LadyGoneGaga · 30/12/2013 21:57

MrsA High HCG is only indicative of Down's if it goes along with Low PappA. Even then it is only a risk factor. Combined with your good nuchal measurement it all looks dandy so don't worry. HcG can really vary from woman to woman.

I had both very High HCG (double yours!) AND low PappA which meant a risk of 1 in 95 despite nuchal measurement of only 1.6. So we have had a Harmony test and are waiting for results now. Should get a week today we hope.

coco808 · 30/12/2013 22:01

oh blue that made me giggle...sorry Grin

Glad to read about all the happy scans

had my 12 week scan today. Saw a VERY grumpy sonographer after 1:30 hrs wait! She didn't say anything. I tried to ask questions but she said I have to wait for the report and reminded me that she is running late!

EDD is now 9th July...who is my EDD buddy?

coco808 · 30/12/2013 22:03

MrsA, i know the same as ladygonegaga
I wouldn't worry about it Smile

MrsA2 · 30/12/2013 22:22

Thanks ladygonegaga and Coco, that does make sense.

Fingers crossed for you on your Harmony results too ladygonegaga - your nuchal looks good.

Blue, hope you have an easier day tomorrow!

jaykay987 · 31/12/2013 05:01

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and all the scans this week continue to go well.

I am feeling ridiculously sorry for myself. I picked up a cough and swollen glands last week. I'm hardly getting any sleep and paracetamol is hardly taking the edge off. It's then moved into my head, nose and sinuses. Doctor gave me antibiotics yesterday which are making me feel a bit sick (I'm not an avid fan normally this is only my second batch ever) and they haven't really kicked in yet.

Despite attempting to sleep in an almost upright position, I can't stop coughing long to fall asleep - uuurrrrrggggghhhhh!

I was working yesterday and will be again Friday. Luckily it's not too intense and I don't have to travel in. But, we are due to go away tomorrow for the night. Not sure I feel up to the long journey! DH is really looking forward to it - so I really need to pull myself together for two days, and then I can continue dying on my return!

DH hasn't moaned too much, despite the house being a complete tip and him doing most of the cooking. This is our last week off together before I go on mat leave - I was hoping I'd be more fun tbh!

Thanks for the indulgent post. DH must be fed up me moaning to him! I'm just not coping well as normally I can shake this type of thing really quickly!

Hope everyone else is feeling better! And have plans for new year that they are looking forward to!

BlueC2 · 31/12/2013 05:19

jaykay that's rotten-really hope the antibi's kick in soon and you are able to enjoy your time away. There's some nasty bugs around at the moment! And don't worry about the 'me' post-scroll upthread and you'll see my moaning saga from yesterday! DH currently asleep on sofa downstairs as he was coughing so much and I'm just having a nesquick and cookie snack as woke up feeling SO hungry! Just remember your body is busy trying to grow another human being as well as fight the infection so it's a little busy at the moment hence taking it's time :) take care!

Plateofcrumbs · 31/12/2013 09:01

Sorry you are feeling so rough jaykay - hope the antibiotics kick-in and you're soon feeling better.

We never ever go out for NYE but we are breaking habit of a lifetime and going to a fancy restaurant tonight. Figured it was last time we'd have the opportunity for a while!
