Merry Christmas everyone! We had a fun morning spreading the news to our family via Skype. Dressed DD in a big sister t-shirt and everyone spotted it eventually, was fun watching their faces as they figured it out Grin.

museumworker · 25/12/2013 22:48

Merry Xmas everyone! Had a lovely low key Xmas. Despite seeing lots of family have kept baby secret. Scan a week tomorrow! I get pains along pelvis if sit up or move too quickly in bed, although I do also have inverted uterus.
Did anyone see the Xmas You've Been Framed? Had a hilarious baby announcement clip, I was in stitches.

MrsA2 · 26/12/2013 08:47

Morning all, well after avoiding MS almost completely I felt awful for half of yesterday - typical! Probably the all day smell of dinner cooking I guess. Felt a bit better by 3pm so managed to eat my Christmas dinner, phew. Bed at 8pm too as so tired. Could just spend the day under the duvet today rather than seeing family...

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

dollydaydream27 · 26/12/2013 09:10

Merry christmas everyone ! I worked all day yesterday so looking forward to seeing all my family today Smile ... Spent most of the day at work feeling sick no idea if it was more down to eating crisps before breakfast and a huge amount of chocolate throughout the day than anything tho !! 5 days until scan simply cannot wait ...wishing for the best. It's New Year's Eve which I think is a bit special . Hope you all had a fantastic Xmas wishing you all the best did your scans .

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 26/12/2013 09:54

Morning all!

for the last two days I felt less sick - either happy coincidence or MS is actually buggering off Grin

and it was nice to eat lovely food. I needed it.

is it too early for New Year's resolutions?

I have 2

  1. As soon as MS is reliably gone I'll be drinking my 2 -2.5 l water/day again.
I'm not right now and I miss it.
  1. I'm going to sort the house as much as I can before this baby is born - we need space and order!

lots of rest for me today - niice!Grin

turnwest · 26/12/2013 10:02

Hi everyone,

I ve had some bleeding yesterday, brown and not a lot but I dont think it bodes well, I ve had a niggly feeling that something is wrong for a while now. Going for a scan tomorrow at EPU, so at least i ll know, I m nearly 11 weeks so I ll be gutted if I ve got this far just to find out the baby stopped growing weeks ago, but at least I ll know. keep your fingers crossed for me, bleeding was a only a tiny amount so there is still hope.

Babymamatobe · 26/12/2013 10:38

Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas!

We had a fabulous day at my parents house, we hid copies of our early scan picture in the Xmas crackers and let them work out the rest themselves!! Lovely reactions from everyone, and we get to do it all again this afternoon at the in-laws!!

Hope you're all feeling ok, and not too sick x

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 26/12/2013 11:05

turn

fx, brown spotting should be ok.
what time is your scan?

I was just thinking what if feeling less sick was a bad sign and I'm suddenly worried.
but that happened to me before (MS went and came) so I know I just have to push bad thoughts out of my mind till next Friday.

how weird, no sooner that I feel better (which I really wanted!) I kind of wish I wasn't. Confused

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 26/12/2013 11:06

babymama

that is a great idea - must have been boggling their minds!Grin

talulahbelle · 26/12/2013 11:11

Told my family yesterday, as we were hosting. Everyone very happy, although my aunt (who I don't get on with) spent the day asking inappropriate questions, talking over everyone, and generally rubbing me up the wrong way. Possibly pregnancy horm

talulahbelle · 26/12/2013 11:13

...ones. Ah well, nice day at home with DH, walking the dog this afternoon, and my next scan on the 30th.

turn I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

turnwest · 26/12/2013 15:02

zing Its at 11.20 am tomorrow, I ll pop on at some point regardless of result to let you know. I never had morning sickness or sore boobs with either of my other pregnancies so lack of symptoms is very normal for me but the bleeding is nt. Still, everything happens for a reason, maybe I m not supposed to have three kids, maybe it was a bad idea. I m not sure I ll try again if it is bad news, probably just try and put it behind me and enjoy the two children I already have. But, no more bleeding and no cramping or any pain anywhere so its not over yet!

MrsA2 · 26/12/2013 16:02

Keeping fingers crossed for you turn

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 26/12/2013 17:05

It's not over till the fat lady sings - I'll do some singing tomorrow for you ok?Grin

theborrower · 26/12/2013 21:18

Hi everyone, hope you had a nice Christmas. We told the family - mainly because when we were doing the toasts to my recently engaged sister, Xmas etc, my mum was staring at me and basically saying "are you going to??". They were all delighted, and surprised, which was odd because my sister and brother had their suspicions, maybe they were surprised they were right! We did say to keep quiet til after our scan though, which is tomorrow, so fingers crossed! Feeling a bit nervous but hopefully everything will be ok

BlueC2 · 26/12/2013 22:05

Turn really hope all ok tomorrow. Like zing I too have been feeling less sick and also trying not to panic! Our scan next Friday and so hard waiting. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I've been exhausted today-think I overdid it yesterday.

ismarah · 27/12/2013 00:10

I'm quite calm about my scan tomorrow (well, it's gone midnight so I guess it's later today!) and I'm not entirely sure why because this is the sort of thing I would normally stress and panic about.

We have also been together for over 10 years and I suspect most people don't think we can or plan to have children. It's been a question of timing etc but people have been ridiculously invested in it on our behalf. But it means that post-scan, if everything is OK, we have to tell people and I still think it will be weird. I'm clearly to contrary to be allowed.

MrsB2013 · 27/12/2013 08:51

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!!!

Jaykay how did your scan go on Christmas Eve?

Good luck with all the scans today, FX everything is ok!!

We told DH family over Xmas, next is to tell friends! I'm sure my belly has popped out more now that people know, I feel massive already!

jaykay987 · 27/12/2013 09:44

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Good luck for those with scans over the next few days.

Unfortunately, because of the flooding we couldnt get to our scan Christmas eve. No trains to London and although we got up at 5am to try driving in, the roads were so flooded that didn't work either.

Now rescheduled for 3rd, but I'll be 14w+2. So I don't think they can do a nuchal reading then as it's too late. FX my harmony results do come back today (already late) otherwise we won't have harmony or combined test from fmc. However I am still convinced we will fall into the 5% that doesn't work given my weight. I am still waiting for my nhs nuchal/combined result - so fx that can give me some reassurance. But given a measurement of 2.5mm and my age - I'm not hopeful it'll be a great number either.

Urgh....limbo!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 27/12/2013 10:06

Belated happy Christmas to everyone!

jaykay - that's really frustrating. Hope the Harmony results come back today.

Turnwest - thinking of you and hoping everything's OK at the scan.

We told my dad and aunt, (and stepmum via Skype as she's currently working abroad) on Christmas Eve. No one was too surprised (I think the warning that I wasn't drinking that much this Christmas gave it away!) but they (especially my dad as I'm an only child and therefore his only hope of grandchildren!) were really happy - we had to restrain my dad from telling the wider family until after I've had the 12 week scan. Telling DH's close family on Sunday when we see them, although we think some may have already twigged.

11 weeks today and experiencing really bad pain in my right ribs, just under my breast, as if I'd been kicked by a horse :( Assuming it's everything just moving around and expanding. Wish I could take ibuprofen!

Bubbless · 27/12/2013 10:19

Morning all, not going to have claimed to read all the posts!!

I'm 11 weeks, due 22nd July, have 1 dd who's 1st birthday is January... Can I join?

I haven't had my scan yet, so you now know all that I do! Aha

Plateofcrumbs · 27/12/2013 10:34

turnwest fx for you - I hear brown spotting is very common and 'normal' but glad you're able to get a scan and check.

As this will be our first (assuming all goes well - I still feel the need to caveat everything!) we're currently planning a pre-baby 'bucket list' - try to squeeze in a nice holiday, meals out etc. anyone got any ideas for things to enjoy before our lives get turned upside-down?

Plateofcrumbs · 27/12/2013 10:36

Oh and jaykay how massively frustrating!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 27/12/2013 12:18

Plateofcrumbs We're doing the same! A lovely holiday, theatre at least once a month and a couple of weekends away. Also trying to finish some odd jobs around the house (a baby is a useful deadline!). I wish I'd done more open-air theatre / racing etc last year as the baby will be too young for me to impose it on the crowds next summer. But then we can do all of that again once it's grown.

Also I'm getting very excited (already!) about a reading list for the first couple of weeks whilst learning to BF. Going to buy myself a massive stack of books to keep me occupied.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 27/12/2013 12:19

jaykay So sorry to hear that - could you maybe call and explain to them that you'd like to get in earlier because of the nuchal? Fingers crossed for you.
