Shak totally with you on the burping thing, yuck!!

Merry Xmas all who celebrate :) Have had a nice day, had to say I wasn't drinking the lovely wine due to recovering from the UTI, but it was convincing enough I think :D Also noticed today I have a wee bump already, eeeek!

HungryHorace · 25/12/2013 20:31

Shak, I'm more delightful than that as I not only burp, but fart and hiccup too. :-/ Pregnancy is not kind to me.

In other news my boobs are as big now as they were just before DD was born. I may be visible from the moon by August.

Misery, good call re the UTI. Who were you with today?

Shak, sorry you're feeling grim with a cold. Hope you feel better soon.

miserywaterfall · 25/12/2013 21:20

Hungry yes, I too am stunningly elegant with my hiccups and farts! I had no idea I'd become so glam while pregnant! And lol at your boobs Grin

I was with the parents and brother... I have no idea why I keep putting off telling them, but thinking I may aswell keep quiet til the 12week scan now!

HungryHorace · 25/12/2013 21:47

We are waiting til then, Misery. I prefer it that way.

Good job we aren't as inelegant when not pregnant else we may have never found anybody willing to impregnate us! :-)

Feelingfatty · 25/12/2013 22:13

Oh dear god I just made the mistake of weighing myself...have put on 6 pounds in 2 days...can't be proper weight surely...hoping some of it will be gone by morning!!!!

2beornot · 25/12/2013 22:27

Misery and hungry - I'm the same. For some reason I just can't bring myself to tell my family. The longer it goes on the more I think I may as well just wait until my 12 week scan!!

2beornot · 25/12/2013 22:27

Oh and Merry Christmas everyone!!

mssleepyhead · 25/12/2013 22:55

I gave my parents a pregnancy test today... They were stunned, happy but also very respectful of our caution. It was a wonderful day and I'm glad we're going to have their support over the next few weeks. I'm really glad it's done! Next up: inlaws tomorrow...

Feelingfatty · 25/12/2013 22:59

Ah mssleepy that's lovely :) glad it went well Smile

miserywaterfall · 25/12/2013 23:00

Laughed heartily at a comment from the mother in law earlier. Fiancé called her even though they don't do Xmas and she said something along to lines of 'Oh god, you'll be getting married soon (we're getting married in March!) PLEASE let me die without ever becoming a grandmother!'
Totally random and out the blue comment, typically rude and in line with the utter crap she spouts most of the time :P It's given me another reason to be happy about this baby, just to spite her Wink

HungryHorace · 25/12/2013 23:28

That's lovely, mssleepyhead. :-)

Misery, that's bloody awful. Could always respond that she'd better get on with dying then!

miserywaterfall · 25/12/2013 23:31

Ahahaha Hungry didn't think of that! Maybe that's what we'll say when we tell her!

HungryHorace · 25/12/2013 23:45

If she's going to be a bitch to you whatever you do, you may as well just go for broke and do your worst!

Shakshuka · 25/12/2013 23:57

feelingfatty I weighed myself as well. Put on 5lbs since getting pregnant. I'm so annoyed - because what goes on must come off! - but constant eating is how I can control my nausea. I usually eat very healthily but at the moment it's just a carb fest.

misery your MIL sounds a delight! Is this her first grandchild then? Is she worried it'll make her sound old? Is she self centered and narcissistic?

I'm the worst at keeping a secret. I can't lie and I've blurted it out about the pregnancy to quite a few people! A friend was trying to make plans with us for the summer and I ended up telling her because I couldn't make up a good enough lie Blush Glad it went well for you mssleepy

dontsqueezetheteabag · 26/12/2013 00:54

Hi all, hope you all had a nice day today.

We told our family today. I'm 8 weeks.

My folks and sil, bil, my friend who was with us for Xmas all jumped up to congratulate us with hugs and kisses but my inlaws just sat there. No reaction at all.

I know we are not the first people to ever have a child however it was embarrassing and hurtful.

Seeing them all again tomorrow for dinner at sil house. I wonder if they will even mention it....

Weirdos!!

yummiemummieuk · 26/12/2013 06:04

Hi all, merry Christmas! Ours was a quiet day just the 2 of us and blueberry. I managed to do a traditional English dinner and bf enjoyed it :) I just missed my family sooo badly! Xmas is such a big deal back at home. I did Skype them though and watched my nephews open done presents which was nice- I'm so ready to go home now!!!
ruggle - I meant eptopic not mc-baby brain! And it wasn't shoulder tip it was both shoulder/back Eric just funny sleeping I think :)
Interesting to hear about everyone breaking the news, happy for those who got supportive feedback and those who didn't-sod them!!! Family huh?! Lol
Xxx

HungryHorace · 26/12/2013 07:57

Wow, Dontsqueeze, that's odd. Are they usually weird or is this a one off?

As you say, sod 'em!

I'm glad you had a nice day, yummie. Sorry you're home sick.

When is your 12 week scan? Are your flights booked already? On the up side, you're missing the crappy weather here!!

My morning sickness is worse this time than last. Barely a minute goes by when I'm not feeling sick when I'm awake. Got to face the inlaws later too. Can't be arsed!

travispickles · 26/12/2013 12:23

Hi all. Well the teeth cleaning sick thing has started. Yuck!! Got a long drive today and not looking forward to it... How was Xmas for all? I am feeling very annoyed at my dad as he clearly let his new wife buy our presents and they are AWFUL. Think it may be hormonal but am fuming!!

miserywaterfall · 26/12/2013 13:52

Shak the mother in law is as weird and self centered as they come. I said to DH, well, what difference would us having a baby make to her life? She shows no interest in your life as it is, so I don't see how a baby would change that.
They also live 100+ miles away (thank god!) so have no idea what she was on with that comment. The woman is an idiot :P

Dontsqueeze your in laws sound a lot like mine! Aren't we lucky? Hmm

I bought my first item of baby clothing today! I couldn't resist. It's just a wee cute sleep suit and it was in the sale. I'm 8+1 today, scan is in exactly one month, hoping it zooms by!

Hope everyone's good today!

HalfPintPickle · 26/12/2013 14:33

Glad everyone had a nice(ish) day yesterday.

I've told my arenas and sis & bro in law and hey we're made up. DH isn't fussed about telling the PIL until after the scan. I'm really close with my mum and sis though so they'd know if anything happened to go wrong etc. ( fingers crossed that's not the case! )

Got my booking in with the GP at 8 weeks then have to wait for a 12 week scan. It's gong so slowly already!! I'm only 5+1!

HalfPintPickle · 26/12/2013 14:34

Parents* they were going.
Blimmin typing! Too tired I think - might be time for a nap!

HungryHorace · 26/12/2013 14:41

Travis, that's grim, isn't it? I hope your journey is OK.

I've been sick 4 times today, plus retching a few others. It's quite awful. At least it's not Hyperemesis. That's all that's keeping me going, knowing it could be worse.

So tired as well...matchsticks, anyone?!

ClarissaG · 26/12/2013 17:50

How are we all doing, marks out of 10:

1 - nauseous, only thing that helps is eating...more.....and more (not even going to think about the scales)
2 - out of breath even going up the stairs....i was sooo fit 2 months ago, this feels dreadful
3 - developed cunning non drinking diversion techniques 'i'll have a gin and tonic please....oh noo, don't worry, I'll get it' . Proceed to pick up the gin bottle, pretend to pour.
4 - snappy, the dog got it today
5 - always checking the loo paper (sorry, I know that's grim, but dreading the sight of red)
6 - Husband wants to talk names, I don't want to tempt fate
7 - sure everyone is looking at my mahooosive boobs and guessing
8 - not pleasant period type pains at night, everything I read says its normal?? Still scary.
9 - farting, and burping, and farting. I used to be so refined in front of my husband
10 - purchased first books, The Rough Guide has made me giggle. Even bough one for the hubbie (Pregnancy for Men), caught him reading it, must be ok then.

Cxxx

Finnable · 26/12/2013 17:53

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all had a good day yesterday, and managed to eat some dinner despite the sickness. Oh, and that Santa brought you all lovely goodies too!

Deus - I hope you're OK. You're not alone - I'm going through almost exactly the same thing as you right now.

We've left our families a day early (DH has a right stinky cold, so we had a good excuse!) to come home so I can chill out and not be as stressed - since finding out it's not ectopic, I've just not stopped bleeding.

TMI alert - still no red blood or clots, but a frightening amount of brown liquid. Not unlike the first day of a normal period, only it's just not going or turning into anything!

I've read the statistics, and I feel bizarrely calm - just got to wait this one out now! Have a scan booked for the 7th Jan, but there's not much I can do until then but wait and hope it's something and nothing.

Really hoping that I'm being a hypochondriac is it possible to manifest horrid symptoms? and it's not anything more sinister!

Love to all.

miserywaterfall · 26/12/2013 18:14

Clarissa great idea!

  1. Nausea - 6/10... started off gagging at everything, but it's rare now! But if I am hungry and don't eat asap, I feel horrendously sick! So weird! Even if it's only been a few hours I can be ravenously hungry haha!
  2. Out of breath - 8/10... I'm a plus sized girl but I prided myself on a good level of fitness which has just completely gone to pot! I can't climb stairs without panting now!
  3. Non drinking techniques - 10/10 'Oh no thanks, I'm still recovering from a UTI, so don't really want to irritate my bladder with booze' seems to work Grin Which is good as it is a friend's party on Saturday!
  4. Snappy - 8/10... usually at poor cats or DH!
  5. Always checking loo paper - 8/10... I've mellowed a bit these past 2 weeks!
  6. Hubby wants to talk names - 3/10... Hubby to be is so busy with uni work!
  7. Sure people are guessing - 5/10... got such a weird figure my belly always looks big, so doubt anyone's guessing anything yet!
  8. Period type pains - 6/10... I get twinges at times, but at 5-6 weeks I had it a lot!
  9. Farty/Burpy monster - 10/10, I am so glam.
10. Purchased books - 0/10... no books yet, just reading lots online!
