Oh dear! We haven't managed dessert yet. We managed starters (yum!) and the main was good but we are all too full to do dessert! There is a Christmas pudding and a syrup sponge (for me!) downstairs... As well as Christmas cake. Nobody wants any!

MinaLeeds · 25/12/2013 17:56

Hope you're all having a lovely Christmas! It's been an unbelievably emotional day so far but I'm really looking looking forward to present opening time. :) SIL is also pregnant so it's been lovely to have someone to talk bump to. :)

cjbk1 · 25/12/2013 18:09

well i do loads of baking not a boast more of a confession and I just wanted a light fruity desert coz to round things off I suppose I could've pinched one of baby's little stars or little yeos Wink
hope everyone else is enjoying the day

Bumblebeesmum · 25/12/2013 18:49

Ah ckbk it's horrible when plans go wrong

We had roast duck no starter not desert & are absolutely stuffed but it was delicious. I think my 1 glass of champagne got me drunk though!!!

Hello my dears! I'm curled up in bed all nice and cosy, after a few hours in the freezing spare bedroom on the computer my back is in agony.

I've had to scarper, after being AWOL all month SiL phoned, she's fine but MiL saw a picture of her rather large tattoo and had a good strop and has now hit the booze and I can't deal with the drama. (SiL is grown up and responsible, just currently doing her own thing)

I have a pile of fab pressies, we had a lovely lunch (though the sandwiches from leftovers are the best bit) and treated myself to a nice handbag in the online sales. Will not bother with the actual sales in the shops, except to get a Sofa from DFS.

hope everyone is keeping well!

superlambanana · 25/12/2013 23:07

Glad you all had good days Smile Mine was good - amazing present from DH (will out me if I say though) and mostly enjoyable day with mine and DH's family. Did get fed up with having the Mickey taken out of me (by both sides) and/or treated like an invalid, and with DBIL telling me not to count on getting extension done before baby comes and that we were maybe trying to do too much and others then joining in saying we'll cope if it's not done / we are still at PILs' / we don't have the dangerous wiring redone. I know we bloody will, but I'm trying to be positive!!

In bed now quietly seething and trying to go to sleep. Bah!!

CleverOl10 · 25/12/2013 23:46

Intrigued by super's amazing present!

Had a lovely day here in the end, despite a dodgy start with headache and feeling queasy. Managed a nice Christmas dinner (though no dessert!) and DS was in a fab mood all day. Can't sleep now - probably too much time on ipad looking at prams and maternity clothes in the sales!

Hope all are well and ready for a relaxing boxing day and leftover turkey! Grin

Redcliff · 26/12/2013 05:59

Been lovely hearing about everyone's days - I managed to throw up after Christmas dinner ( luckily no one heard) but day was good with lovely dinner at mums with no cooking required by me. DS had a great day - loved all his presents.

Now can't sleep ! Been awake for about an hour and still in bed tossing and turning. No idea why - really shattered! Am hoping a bit of mumsnetring might distract my mind and then will be able to drop off again.

ohcluttergotme · 26/12/2013 07:31

Morning ladies, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Day, going try and catch up with tread today Smile
We had a lovely day of very busy. Both children had a great day with lots of fab prezzies and lots of giggles with cousins.
Definitely not envious of my dh's delicate disposition today!
Happy Boxing Day Smile

Bumblebeesmum · 26/12/2013 08:18

Super out you as what? I really want to know what this present is now!! :)

We had sooo much work to do when pregnant with James the plastering of his room was being done while I was in hospital giving birth & we didn't manage kitchen on time. We still have some dangerous sockets but we are v slow & don't get round to things quickly plus I suffered a lot late pregnancy so it had to stop, but you'll be happy with whatever by time baby is due. Plus newborns are brilliant at not going anywhere other than where you leave them for quite some months. My toddler on the other hand.....!!!

superlambanana · 26/12/2013 09:17

It'll only out me to people who know me as I put in on fb - probably just being paranoid! It is a very shiny musical instrument that I didn't need at all but wanted very much!

I do feel a bit like DH is the only one who takes me seriously sometimes - his and my family seem to think I'm completely naive and I'm not, I just like to be positive and they all misinterpret that as me being unrealistic. Makes me Angry

Bumblebeesmum · 26/12/2013 09:30

Super that sounds great - I'm a trombone player myself (well sort of - as in I still own one I haven't played in years)

I reckon most ppl get frustrated with family especially in laws you haven't had a life time to get used to. I think unrealistic & naive aren't too bad even if bloody annoying - but there are much worse things in laws could think of you :)

superlambanana · 26/12/2013 12:21

I know, I think I'm just especially cranky at the moment! Added to the fact that MIL keeps going on about how DH's grandad said 'oh, I never thought she [I] would' when he found out I was pregnant, and how 'curious' she finds it. Hmm

Biffle · 26/12/2013 12:41

Really don't envy you ladies that have had to contend with the in-laws over Christmas. We had a lovely quiet one which was just what I needed but didn't feel quite right.

mylittlel · 26/12/2013 17:07

we had very busy day yesterday, we had a lovely turkey/pheasant roast dinner, but more i tried to eat the more i realised that i cant eat..lots of pressies even thought we agreed with the in laws not to buy loads this year they possibly didnt quiet got it) thank god i got rid of my unwanted pressies quickly Grin

Vickyvix · 26/12/2013 18:52

........and relax. Parents have just left (been here for 3 days), we had 15 here for lunch yesterday and now I am absolutely shattered. But, everyone was fed and watered so i feel it's mission accomplished for me for a few years at least.

Hope you all had a wonderful relaxing christmas. It's lovely to hear of people experiencing kicks, can't wait until it's my turn (but don't really know what it feels like or how I will know!)

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 27/12/2013 01:44

About to snuggle into the covers with DH, we ordered our new sofa today and I'm looking forward to going home tomorrow.

Being kicked a bit so I hope squirt lets me snooze!

Cherryjellybean · 27/12/2013 07:37

Hope you have all had a great Christmas!

Vicky that is an impressive amount to cook for!

Super my dh's grandma had a similar reaction, it took her ages to say congratulations, because she was 'so surprised!'. Older people can come out with some gems!

We are spending a few days at my parents house which is great! No cooking! Although lots of people have colds and I think I am catching it :( Blugh!

mylittlel · 27/12/2013 10:20

Just had quadruple screening test (down syndrome blood test), i dont know if its different from other hospitals- i had a quick meeting with midwife, she checked my weight, i heard heart beat for the first time!!!!!! was ready to cry didnt tell my hubby cause he would be very upset) and only after that i had blood test, they never say to eat or not to before test so i decided to fast before test, good luck to me and everyone whos having the test)

ohcluttergotme · 27/12/2013 13:30

Good luck my littlel.

Cherry hope you don't pick up the cold. Afraid it's too late for me. Woke up on Christmas morning with sore head and throat which has just got steadily worse. Feel awful and totally wiped out.
Been taking regular paracetamol and wondered if anyone knew of any other pregnancy friendly remedy for sore throat, sore head and just general feeling rubbish!

Going to a Panto tonight with my family and had so been looking forward to it and now just want to get my Jammie's on and stay indoors Sad

mylittlel · 27/12/2013 14:31

ohcluttergotme thank you, my SIL is a pharmacist and she recomended boiled/sugary sweets (not medicated, not antibacterial etc), honey and leon tea or gargle with salty water espec. before bed, that helped me a lot when i had sore throat

ohcluttergotme · 27/12/2013 15:24

That's great, thanks mylittlel, will give those things a try Smile

summerbaby2014 · 27/12/2013 17:59

I think I just felt my first proper kick!

Sussex31 · 27/12/2013 18:21

Congrats summerbaby2014 - how exciting :)

Bezzabelle · 27/12/2013 19:22

Hi all, hope you all had a great Xmas.

I've got Xmas day number 2 tomor with Sil and three nieces so ds is going to have lots of fun. Then from Monday, I'm reining back the eating as putting on weight at alarming rate now I've finally stopped being sick. (Am 18 weeks tomorrow)
I too have been feeling movement. I wouldn't call it kicks, rather fluttering and what feels like roly polys! Seems more active in the evening but that may be because I'm doing less then so notice it more.

Don't post that often so Happy new year everyone- what an exciting 2014 we have to look forward to!
