Hi everyone, I'm back! Welcome Elibean, I'm glad you joined us.

The trip was good, I got to sleep a bit on the first part so relieved dh partway through on the way up. Then we split up the drive home into two days, so dh did all the driving

MP, interesting you were talking about baby being quiet. My lo has been quieter today and it's been worrying me silly. He's starting to wake up, though. I keep reminding myself they do that but it's hard not to panic.

And, last but not least, what an interesting turn this thread has taken. I have to say that with both pregnancies my libido has only gone up So far, bump has not required anything creative in the way of positioning but it won't be long, I can tell

Calmriver · 01/08/2006 08:56

Well, I just feel like I'm am getting squashed on my back, but I have to try this entwined position of MP. Sounds rather interesting.

My last pregnancy,I refused to have any, as I was just too scared of hurting DD, but once I researched a bit and realised it was okay, I feel better....good thing too, as my DH would have climbed the walls by now! He is a trainer, and I reckon all the full-on training is affecting his testosterone levels!!!

Loulou000 · 01/08/2006 09:55

Morningnewspaper you so made me laugh with your repeated posts.

Magnolia, how many weeks are you? I thought I felt a kick from the outside but thought I must have imagined it as am only 19 weeks and thought that was too early!

I am grumpy too. Seem to have a very short fuse since I've been pg, even though I'm happy underneath. As for sex, lots of drive but no confidence or energy. Doesn't make good combination. :-(

Morningnewspaper · 01/08/2006 10:57

Good morning ladies! You will all be relieved to know that baby woke me up this morning with all its wriggling, so panic over.....for now.

LouLou, 19 weeks isn't too early at all - it must have been what you felt! They start off very intermittently!

I still can't believe that I have a person inside me. How utterly amazing.

Morningnewspaper · 01/08/2006 11:03

and I have just realised that I haven't made something at all clear. I too have completely gone off sex! It just doesn't cross my mind until DH mutters something about it. We give it a go occasionally and it either works out or it doesn't. sorry - is that tmi?

Morningnewspaper · 01/08/2006 12:11

Calmriver - this is just for you, but it doesn't have the position I was talking about... positions!

The one I was talking about is both on your backs at 45-90 degree angle to each other and you put your lower leg between his and your upper one over the top of him. The rest you can work out

beepbeep · 01/08/2006 12:16

can't remember last time we had sex, have no interest or drive whatsoever, much to DP's dismay! Good luck (and bit of envy!) to all you girls who do!

Calmriver · 01/08/2006 13:53

I just love the term 'sexual relations!'

Will be back after my nap.x

Calmriver · 01/08/2006 13:54

A lot of people have chosen to disappear for this topic!??

higginpiggin · 01/08/2006 15:06

I'm here! I'm so tired, lucky if I get 6 hours sleep a night (DS 4yrs, DD 2yrs, DH gets up at 6am and wakes everyone up!) Most of afternoon naps. Doesn't help that I'm getting on a bit not too ... So those are my pathetic excuses for no rumpy pumpy since the conception, I think

jabberwocky · 01/08/2006 15:45

hp, ds went off of naps at 2 1/2 but I told him he had to at least do quiet time b/c mommy needed to rest (that was in my first trimester, so especially true then). I set up a portable dvd player in his room and he gets to watch a movie or sesame street. I also give him a snack just before so we have that covered. Some days it works better than others, but most of the time I do get some much needed down time.

Calmriver · 01/08/2006 19:12

My DD is 2 this month, and I am dreading when she doesn't want her naps anymore. I will keep them going as long as I can.

I don't think I would ever be up for it if I didn't get my 2 hours sleep every afternoon.

DH might be in for a shock when baby 2 is born, especially if DD goes off naps.

Quiet time, great idea!!!

accessorizequeen · 01/08/2006 21:56

Calmriver, I was thinking a lot of people came out of the woodwork at the mention of 'sexual relations'. Do you think your dd's naps are on the way out then or are you just panicking about it?! I remember thinking the same thing as ds was turning 2, but in actual fact it's not as bad as all that. After a couple of days of it (and ds still has them a couple of days a week) I found it much easier coz we didn't always have to be home for naptime, and thus out of the house on time etc. By the time she gives them up, she'll prob. be playing more independently & might be happy to sit quietly or play in her room for a bit. DS is nearly 2.8, I know they'll be gone by the time ds2 arrives but it's happened so gradually I feel I can cope with it. Lots of story cds is my solution!!

sounds tough higginpiggin, hope you get some sleep soon!

magnolia1 · 01/08/2006 22:19

LouLou, I am 19+4 and have felt movements with my hand from the outside but only since last week. It is my 5th though and to be honest this is the latest I have ever felt movement. Was actually watching b8ig movements by 16 weeks last pregnancy. I think my tummy muscles are slacker and more able to cover the moevments lol.

As for sex!!!! Dh would love it every night, lucky if he gets it every week. I actually feel like it less than every month!!!

spinamum · 01/08/2006 22:37

I've been off line for ages....so much to catch up on!
Choccy-I feel for you and your friend. I agree a note to her to say you're there for her if she wants to talk is prob a good approach.

I'm so tired at moment.i've been to Devon for the weekend(DGirl i'm soooooo jealous. it was gorgeous!)we didn't get back til almost 2 in the morning and got up for work at 6am on Monday. Not able for that at all.
i've totally gone off sex too! was still into it in first pg(even though i skipped it for first trimester!) in fact my libido increased last time. I hope it does this time too at some point. i DO want to make love but can't be bothered!!!!
I've got my scan next week and I'm beginning to think about the concept it might not be a girl. I obviously want a healthy bean, but part of me expects it to be a girl and I have no boys names left.(used my two favs on DS)My DS is calling bean "she " as well so "she " is already my daughter in one part of my head. I've explained to Ds that his little sibling might be a boy and we'll have to start calling "her" a "him" if necessary!(According to his Sageness, boys bite so he'd like a sister please!) Sorry I'm coming across as ungrateful for being pg at all. It is weird getting my head around the idea of another boy. It's easier to imagine having one boy and one girl.(It's that whole "how can I LOVE another boy as much as DS"? thing!)
Regardless i'm getting the odd kick now and then, when s/he feels like it not when I decide. (tried coffee, cold drinks, etc)So boy or girl, I've got another cheeky monkey on my hands!

Calmriver · 02/08/2006 08:38

AQ, she still needs them for sure-especially when I get her up for Noddy in the morning! She is still in our beds in the morning, despite going to bed in her own bed. She seems to sleep really well in ours and that way I get more sleep!!!

I'm sure when she does stop them it'll be fine!

Oh, that reminds me I need to book for my intensive driving course for Sept!!! OOOOH!!!

Calmriver · 02/08/2006 21:54

bump

Devongirl · 03/08/2006 16:37

Interesting post CalmRiver! tee hee

Where is everybody? I had my scan today and it was incredible, a really emotional time. Everthing is fine, and it was all really clear, and we got some lovely photographs. We had a lovely trainee from Africa doing most of the scan, and the qualified lady came in at the end to check everything, and he was really thorough and patient and explained everything to us.

I can't stop smiling now, feeling really blessed
x

Calmriver · 03/08/2006 17:39

Well done DGirl!

The bump thing...I know, it was to get everyone back again! Everyone has gone!!!

Did you find out girl or boy??

magnolia1 · 03/08/2006 17:44

Devongirl, congrats on a healthy scan

Can't wait for mine but it's not till 14th August!!!
I want to know the sex coz I am a nosey person lol

jabberwocky · 03/08/2006 18:04

Congrats, DevonGirl! Don't you wish they would scan every visit? It's so nice to see the little bean wriggling around.

Elibean · 03/08/2006 20:53

I am not even going to try and catch up, or keep up! Sorry to have joined and then gone missing a bit...have developed carpal tunnel, so typing is not great. Plus I see there has been some talk of naps....aaah, dd is down to 40 minutes late afternoon, any more and she doesn't sleep till well past my bedtime, any less and she's in floods of tears by 6pm. I can see we only have a few weeks of naps left at all...but at least I'm not alone...
DevonGirl, congratulations on your scan - I smiled for you on reading your post, you sound so happy. Thanks for reminding me of the blessing aspect: I get so caught up in daily life at the moment its easy to forget - and I really shouldn't, given it took me years and years and lots of help to have one child, let alone two! Did you ask the sex, or keep it a surprise?
I'm tempted to go for a 3d scan in a few weeks...mostly, to be honest, because I have a low lying anterior placenta, and if it doesn't move up (I had a section last time) it could get attached to the old scar. I'm hoping a scan will put my mind at ease, the hospital isn't scanning me again until 34 weeks - feels so far away
Hope everyone has a great weekend, and will keep reading even when I can't type!

jabberwocky · 03/08/2006 21:15

I'm going to go for a 3D scan as well, Elibean. Mainly just for fun and so ds can see a better "picture" of his little brother.

I had carpal tunnel when pregnant with ds. It was maddening! I've noticed rings getting tighter and maybe certain shoes, I've been hoping the swelling won't be as bad with this baby. Has anyone else noticed the same?

dublindee · 03/08/2006 22:51

Hi Guys!
Just a quick post before we head off on our hols om Saturday (Donegal for a week). DGirl congrats on the healthy scan and everyone else since my last post!!!

Regarding boys names we've a shortlist of 6 that we're fighting over currently. But in a good way.

Libido wise it's up and down (scuse the pun) but loads of fun.

Sooooo tired lately, and back is starting to play up too

Anyway, take care of yourselves and see you when I get back on the 13th!!!
