Elibean, I laugh at your husband!!! Did he get a bollocking for that, you sound quite relaxed about having to buy a new buggy? And I looked up weight gain, and found this fab weight curve which shows a big rise from the 6th month. So that's alright then! I'm more worried about the tummy muscles than the weight gain as despite doing yoga I had none before getting pg.

I like this graph, aq. It shows me right on target!

magnolia1 · 18/08/2006 21:26

Jabber, Ive been having braxton Hicks for a few days now and to be honest I don't care for them either
I can't remember them being this early with the others though.
Was laying on the sofa tonight and the baby moved weird, looked at my tummy and could see one lump (a head??) and another lump (bum??) Was sooo weird

And the weirdest thing, this is my 5th baby but feels like the 1st all over again

jabberwocky · 18/08/2006 23:07

Interesting. I have heard that every pg is different - this one sure is for me - but you would think by now you would have experienced everything

I'm relieved your having BH as well. I definitely didn't this early with ds. In fact hardly had them at all with him.

Calmriver · 18/08/2006 23:15

Hi All, my DD got hiccups for the first time while I was trying to put my other DD to sleep. There was me wondering only a couple of days ago about when they would start.x

accessorizequeen · 19/08/2006 20:31

Magnolia, how're u doing? do you just have to wait until the next scan to know what's happening?
Bean wasn't moving much yesterday and I went to bed panicking. Bless him, he woke me at 3am & kicked for an hour to reassure me he was ok

Hi Can I join your thread. I've only just discovered this website. I'm due on 4th Dec, first baby, so feeling a bit nervous and not sure what to expect, as changes to body all new to me. Think it will be helpful to get advice from others, as not always sure whats happening to me is normal !!!

jabberwocky · 19/08/2006 23:53

Welcome bubblylion! My c-section is scheduled for the 4th so we're kind of due on the same day

jabberwocky · 19/08/2006 23:54

Oh, and there are some good threads going right now (plus archives, of course) on what kind of baby gear you really need and what is just a waste of money.

bubblylion · 20/08/2006 19:40

Thanks Jabber, I'll have a good look around the site, it's really good for ideas abd tips.

jabberwocky · 20/08/2006 22:44

Here's one

magnolia1 · 20/08/2006 22:55

accessorizequeen: Got an appt with consultant at 28 weeks so will find out then. If any bleeding before will have to stay in hosp

Welcome bubblylion

Elibean · 20/08/2006 23:13

Welcome Bubblylion

Jabberwocky, you made me laugh (with relief) over the weight gain thing...thanks. FWIW, I don't think for a minute you can put on 7lbs in a week without a goodly portion of that being water retention! Bet your baby has had a big growth spurt, too. My 3lbs gain did coincide with bump suddenly enlarging...yes, there is a 'p' at the end of that word...

AQ, dh got the start of a bollocking, but I had to admit half way through that I was secretly relieved: at the time, I really didn't think we'd ever have another baby (both in our forties already when dd was born!) plus I hated the blinking thing - too heavy, and too bulky, and took up masses of space. So we ended up laughing and hoping the binmen found a use for it Thanks for the chart by the way, very reassuring!

Oooh, Calmriver, you have got to the hiccups stage...I remember that made dd seem so real to me last time. Rather looking forward to it this time.

Magnolia, does the wait feel scary? It sounds pretty stressful; I know I'm a bit on edge re placenta placement, have an OB apt on Tuesday and am hoping she'll be able to tell a bit from doppling...I know midwives can...and it feels like ages till my next scan (32 weeks, for me). Meantime, I feel odd pulling feelings around my old section scar, and keep wondering if things are getting attached in there...hope not.

Anyone got as far as names for their bean? We're nowhere near yet!

Loulou000 · 21/08/2006 10:11

Wow, is that graph true? I thought I'd put on way too much but it has me on target at 5 months/5 kilos or 14 pounds. Nice!

Hello bubblylion!

When are you people with BH and hiccups due? Two more things to look out for in coming weeks! What do the hiccups feel like? What does BH feel like, come to that?

Calmriver · 21/08/2006 12:02

HIccups feel like you have a pulse going on in your tummy, BH feel like tightenings in your whole tummy. I always found them really uncomfortable to stand up properly. Also tight so taking a deep breath was odd.

Calmriver · 21/08/2006 12:07

I have just been for yet ANOTHER scan to check my DD's kidneys and she was sleeping in a funny position...so I have another one booked for 2 weeks time.

They said that there is a really minimal difference between how big they should be and are, but because she is smaller than average, they want to check why her kidneys are very slightly enlarged. They still think it's because she needs to wee AGAIN!

Other than that, it was great to see her and I just wanted to give her a huge big cuddle.

Calmriver · 21/08/2006 12:13

Not sure when I get my C-section date, but it'll be around the first few days of Dec too.

Oh, my NODDY party went really well. DD was so excited and now we are ALL shattered!!!

jabberwocky · 21/08/2006 12:27

Glad I could help, elibean

Thanks for defining hiccups, calmriver. I have evidently felt them several times without knowing what they were

Loulou000 · 21/08/2006 13:47

I hope everything turns out ok with bean's kidneys, Calmriver. And thanks for the explanations!

Gloria42 · 21/08/2006 14:00

Hi! I'm new to all this (thread, pregnancy, etc!) due on Boxing Day! Think I should change my nickname to Parnoid Android as worry about everything that happens (or that doesn't happen!) I guess this is normal??

Loulou000 · 21/08/2006 15:07

Another Boxing Day baby! Welcome, and join the club. There are thousands of us.

softymom · 21/08/2006 15:12

Hi! I'd like to join too. I've been lurking for a couple of months but something always seems to come up just when I'm about to post.

Due Dec 4, but dd (2.5) was delivered by ECS at 42+3 with no labour at all so I'm thinking late December is more likely (the consultant will let me go over my due date to try for VBAC).

Glad to see you're all hungry too. Finding eating 8 small-ish meals a day is keeping the hunger and heartburn away this time round !

Earlier on somebody expressed an interest in cotton nappies. I used them on dd til she was 2, so if you want more info will post but don't want to bore everyone with tales of wraps, liners, buckets etc etc

Calmriver · 21/08/2006 17:00

Hey, welcome all of you. I just pop off for a snooze with DD for 3 hours and wake up and our December family has grown! IMPRESSIVE!

Jabber-
I was so concerned last pregnancy when the hiccups started, I thought it was the DD's heart beating so strongly that I could feel it without the doppler and also..WHY was the beat slower than in the scan and at my ante-natal appts.

The things you worry about!!!! But it really is a frightening time. I am slightly calmer about all the pregnancy stuff this time, but I still worry myself a lot.

Oh, and why my name is still calmriver!? I have been getting myself so stresed recently! Been really hormonal this time round!

castlesintheair · 21/08/2006 18:11

Welcome to all!

Is anyone else potty training at the moment? I am trying with DD and in 2 weeks she hasn't done anything in the potty, just all over the floors! I thought it would be easy with no.2.

Calmriver, I have my repeat scan for kidneys tomorrow. Been trying not to worry about it too much - stress in pregnancy is soooooo exaggerated, isn't it? - esp when I hear what your sonographer had to say.

jabberwocky · 21/08/2006 18:16

We potty trained ds a couple of months ago. I just let him go naked for a couple of weeks and it finally clicked. I'm hoping that he will have time for the whole thing to really "cement" before December!
