I've got another scan on Thursday too as the baby was wrong way round, they said all looked fine but i'm still worrying. It never ends, does it? I havent got any aches and pains or piles, just my blood pressure problems which i have to take meds for which i react too. I can honestly say that I havent felt well for about 3/4s of this pregnancy so far. Can't wait to stop taking these blooming tablets.

jabberwocky · 07/08/2006 22:29

I remember telling dh when I was pregnant with ds "I've never felt better in my life! I want to be pregnant forever." This was second trimester, of course. But, in my second trimester with this one, I have yet to hit such a hormonal high...Don't think it's going to happen this time

Elibean · 07/08/2006 23:23

lucy5, which tablets are you on? I am expecting (been told to expect) to be on Niphedipine later on in this pregnancy, as I had PIH with dd and ended up re-admitted a few days postpartum with spiralling bp. Horrid, and scary. Less scary because I know to expect it this time, and know it responds to treatment, but do remember horrible headaches at first with the meds and..I have a two year old to look after. How did you react to yours when you started taking them? I'm sorry you have to...

Everyone with scans tomorrow, good luck and hope thye're enjoyable

lucy5 · 08/08/2006 08:33

I'm on labetol, reacted terribley when first on them, they basically floored me. i'm much better now but my body just doesn't like them and has never got used to them. Dd (5) has had a very boring hols so far because combined with the heat I just can't do much. Anyway we are off on hols next week , so am keeping everything crossed that I have a good week.

castlesintheair · 08/08/2006 08:51

Calmriver, congrats on your scan and it is reassuring to hear what the sonographer had to say about the kidneys (I've had a name change, see posts from yesterday ). Hopefully needing to have a pee explains the dilation.
Good luck to everyone else who is having scans this week - will be thinking of you.

spinamum · 08/08/2006 11:27

good luck with all the scans today! can't stay long on here. DS has gone done stairs and I can't hear anything= definite mischief!

Loulou000 · 08/08/2006 12:00

Hello everyone. I'm definitely not on a second trimester hormonal high. Still weary, and finding it harder and harder to pretend at work that I still have a brain. Nothing makes sense any more.

My scan's on friday, can't wait.

And yes AQ. All very odd. Have decided to get the Baby Whisperer book.

Devongirl · 08/08/2006 13:11

Wow, they are discussing 'the woman who cannot be named because of defamation' on Radio 2 at the moment! and how she's launched a legal case against mumsnet! It's mad!

Calmriver · 08/08/2006 16:17

Whats that all about???the case thing D'girl?

Has anyone else seriously got the urge to paint every room in their house/flat? I just want to re-decorate my WHOLE place.

I have had a trapped nerve in the bottom of my back since I got up this morning and am battling to move around at the mo. My DD is also teething at the mo and the temps have been up with being sick as well. Teething doesn't make her throw up its the Nurofen for the pain and fever which irritates her little tummy. 2 year old big back teeth!!!OUCH! Talking to her as much as I can about her Noddy party in 11 days, taking her mind off it a bit.

Good luck to you all that have scans coming up.

Got some things to do now, but would much rather just sit here.

Talk in a bit.x

Loulou000 · 08/08/2006 17:01

Take a look at the red box at the bottom of the page, Calmriver. Tis so sad.

Thalia · 08/08/2006 18:38

Ok December Mums, we are all different, but has anyone taken their own vital stats recently ? I'm due on Dec 24th, last night measured 42 inch bust (was 38 before pg), 40 inch waist, and 40 inch hips. Have put on 6kg since got pg. I read on this thread someone had put on 5lbs !!!!!!

cupcakes · 08/08/2006 19:10

I had my scan today and it went really well. I can't believe I managed to get so worried yesterday - althoug that's easy to say now in retrospect.
Thanks for listening yesterday.
We didn't ask the sex although we have our suspicions.

accessorizequeen · 08/08/2006 19:33

Ooh, congrats cupcakes, that's really good, I got seriously anxious before my scan too, has anyone on here not got anxious?!
I've put on 5lbs so far, Thalia, but really I ought not to be putting on weight as I am size 18 to start with! Not that I am watching things particularly, I'm just not v.hungry yet and gone off meat again so fussy. I put it all on in last trimester with DS, that's when I got hungry. So I'm sure I'll catch you up soon! I am 42 inch bust as well, frightening isn't it? Not many of those nice maternity/feeding bras will fit me, grrr. They say anything from 15-40lbs is normal - I don't know how that equates to kgs, I don't deal in them!!
Calmriver, sounds like you're having an awful day, your backache sounds like mine although I wouldn't know a trapped nerve if it sat on me. Hobbling around all day but lucky to be at work rather than chasing DS or soothing teeth with Noddy stories (my DS would love a noddy party, sounds fabulous). Hope you get some rest tonight and it's better tomorrow, every thing seems harder when you can't even walk properly or bend over.
I am absolutely categorically swearing not to come back on tonight as I am becoming obsessed so please don't talk about anything interesting when I'm gone .
lennied, are you there? how was scan? i'll have to come and check you're ok!

jabberwocky · 08/08/2006 20:42

Big congrats cupcakes! I know you are sooo relieved.

Haven't checked measurements - rather afraid to look but at last appt. I was up a total of 9 lbs. Have another check on Monday and I feel sure I have gained more although I am still hoping not to gain as much this time as last.

Calmriver · 09/08/2006 08:14

I don't know about myself, but I feel a little bigger and my thighs look a little bigger but anyway I am only an 'ickle 6' normally, so I probably need a bit of weight! We should have gained a fair bit, we are over half way!!!

cupcakes · 09/08/2006 09:45

It's my birthday today so getting that scan photo yesterday was the best present.
I've already eaten two croissants this morning and tonight we're going out to tea at either Cafe Rouge or Pizza Express - I'm finding it really hard to watch what I'm eating.

Loulou000 · 09/08/2006 09:49

Thalia - I had put on 11 pounds last time I looked, which was a couple of weeks ago. So probably more now. That includes some giving up smoking weight, and I am constantly ravenous, can't help that really, so I don't feel bad about it. How many weeks are you? Don't think you should be worried about 6kg, anyway.

Congrats on the scan Cupcakes!

I am obsessed with MN too. Will be very upset if it gets shut down.

Elibean · 09/08/2006 10:02

Congrats on the scans, Cupcake and Calmriver! And good luck to all those having them today or tomorrow

Ahhh, I knew the weight issue would come up sooner or later......I've put on 17lbs at nearly 23 weeks, and thats a fair bit less than at the same stage with dd. I think the main reason is that I was on high dose steroids (to prevent miscarriage) for the first 12 weeks both times - and put on a stone in the first trimester. Thankfully, I've hardly put on any since then - 3lbs over 11 weeks - and I look like 'me' again but with someone else's boobs and a big huge belly.

Got my mother staying and, contrary to how my fantasy of that says it should be, I have a lot LESS online time as a result! Will go and have a fast look at the news re Mumsnet case though...didnt' know about that.

Calmriver · 09/08/2006 11:22

My boobs are fuller and I could sware I smelt like breastmilk yesterday!Must be the hormones!! I am still in AA bra's,but once again I have some cleavage! Looking forward to the Dolly Parton look a few days after birth! I was so shocked last time that I thought they were going to explode. I asked my mom if they were normal. My husband just laughed and went 'mmm'

jabberwocky · 09/08/2006 11:43

Don't feel bad Elibean. Last time I gained a pound a week for the entire 40 weeks!

At least I was consistent

Loulou000 · 09/08/2006 14:54

I was a DD already. Could do without this incredible extra growth. I look like Susie on Big Brother now. (But with bigger rest of body.)

Elibean · 09/08/2006 14:57

Me, too, more or less, Jabberwocky! I actually feel pretty good that I'm putting on less this time - mostly to do with having an active 2.7 year old no doubt (rather than any virtue on my part!).

Lucy5, I'm so sorry - dont' know how I missed your post earlier. Thanks for filling me in - think I might have responded to your post on another thread?? I don't know anything about Labetol, but know that Niphedipine gave me horrible headaches for the first few doses, then just something that felt like a sort of dizzy headrush (not so bad!) then nothing. But then again I was postpartum and in a fog and have no idea if they made me more tired or not, was only on them for six weeks. I hope you have a great holiday, and that the rest/break make up a bit for the side effects - are you normally on bp meds, or just during pregnancy?

Elibean · 09/08/2006 15:00

On the boob topic, I was a B before dd, went to DD whilst nursing, couldn't believe it! Then went back down to a C and stayed there. Now I'm using my DD nursing bras already

Annoying thing is, I never had quite enough milk with dd - size ain't everything!

Calmriver · 09/08/2006 15:55

I am normally AA like I said and I had loads of milk it was leaking and squirting ALL OVER! You're right about size not being everything. I back that 100%.x

lennied · 09/08/2006 19:35

Hi all,

I had my scan on Tuesday and everything is fine - and it looks like I was right about having a little girl. Sorry AQ that haven't updated sooner, had a bit of an emotional meltdown. Think the stress was really getting to me - am sure the hormones don't help but I just couldn't get it out of my head that something was wrong. Am feeling a lot better now, but got a dreadful cold and a stomach bug. Think I was just run down with worrying.

On the boobs front I have gone from a C cup (which I was quite happy with!) to a DD. And that is a stretched to capacity DD!! I can't take anymore, can't get comfy at night now what with bump and boobs. Have to prop boobs up otherwise they kind of flop together and hurt my back (TMI! ) and having to wear a bra in bed.

As for weight gain - I was also on steroids for the first 12 weeks, because of a pre-existing thingimy, so it isn't looking pretty. Think I am now 15lbs heavier at 20 weeks. Gulp.

Off to search mothercare for pink things now.

Congrats cupcakes on your scan. Glad it went well for you.
