Congratulations super I'm very jealous of your newborn cuddles. And hope my labour will be like yours!
stom that's shit but very typical when we left our rented house they took over £100 to clean the carpets because we had a dog(by permission) but the only carpet was on the stairs and the dog didn't go upstairs. Hmm

mumoftwoboysS · 10/12/2013 21:25

oh meant to ask Rose how does your doc know your baby is 8lbs? They have never told me over here with any of my pregnancies- do they just guess? Also did the doc do a physical exam to see if you're dilated? I've got my 38wk apt tomorrow and I bet the doc will just take my bp, measure my bump and send me on my way! I'd love to know if I'm dilated at all (obv don't really want to go thru the examination) as I've had so many painful BH and cramping down below I'm sure it's shifting.

Stom91 · 10/12/2013 22:03

It's rally crap. Dp is currently writing a l

Stom91 · 10/12/2013 22:04

Grrr!!
It's crap. Dp is currently writing a long angry email! While I'm bouncing on my ball lol

Roselau · 10/12/2013 22:32

stom i really hate those inventory companies. they are only there to screw you over. twice in the UK did we leave the place in a much better shape than we moved in and twice the inventory read that we left everything dirty and in bad condition. I was beyond me I couldn't believe it. the second time, I learned my lesson and liaised directly with the landlord. Told him to come check out the place before the inventory people and pick up the keys etc, and we just came to an agreement with him. But still drove me nuts. can you get in touch with your landlord??

mum they did an ultrasound to make sure the fluids were still ok, she's still head down, and had normal growth. from the measurements of her tummy and legs they estimate the weight of the baby. Not sure if they do the same in the UK? It's still an estimate - there is a 3/4 lbs margin of error either way (let's hope not on the bigger side of the range!!!!)
And yes, he did a physical exam - 2 fingers up the fanjo... always pleasant... So he told me my cervix was behind and to the left and still closed, but he felt baby's head. I'm not sure what that means in terms of whether her head is engaged or not?! i see all of you with 1/5 - 5/5 measurements, but he did not give me such a figure. Is cervix closed means she's 0/5? I'm confused by it all, but he said he's 95% sure we'll see you at next week's appointment... ugh

Roselau · 10/12/2013 22:45

oh and stom thanks for the watch suggestion but I got him a really nice one as a wedding present last year. so I need to think of something else. aaarg

Stom91 · 10/12/2013 23:23

Not sure really landlord was a bit funny.
Dp has written a long email so we will have to wait and see.

Hmm not sure what else to suggest really :/

I'm off to bed hopefully I'll wake up in labour haha xx

clare8allthepies · 11/12/2013 01:39

Stom first of all contact the landlord and find out exactly what they are trying to charge you and what for.

If you don't agree with any part find out who your deposit was held with (landlords are legally obliged to place it with a deposit protection scheme) and contact them about raising a dispute. The onus is on the landlord to prove damage caused rather than you to prove you didnt if you know what I mean.

Our prev landlord tried this with us and thanks to excellent advice on here we ended up getting the whole amount back. Smile

NomDeClavier · 11/12/2013 01:52

I got DH tablet when DS was born Grin

Painful but not intense cramps every 10/15 minutes since 10pm, trying to size through them but wondering whether it might be the start of something. Here's hoping!

Docs in the US are v pro ultrasound. France too - last time I think DS was scanned at every appointment which tbh I just found worry inducing, especially towards the end when they started tutting about size. He was 8lb6oz in the end and they told me to expect closer to 10lb so it's not always right if that makes you feel any better rose!

super I am so jealous of your birth Envy congratulations! I've always wanted a dramatic waters breaking and full on contractions type labour!

stom landlord sounds crap. Are any of them documented issues like the mould? Did you take photos if the state it was when you moved in and when you left?

Fingers crossed for you violet

Glad the gas is sorted bohemian Bet you were getting worried looks bouncing away on your ball!

SupermansGirl · 11/12/2013 02:00

Nom I had a french student observing at my birth isit true they dont have gas and air in france?

Roselau · 11/12/2013 03:44

music to my ears superman! that's how it will happen for me, I've decided. come on baby make mama proud.

nom actually it was not that bad. I thought it was going to be way worst, but I got U/S at 7, 13 and 20 wks in UK, then 32 and 38 in US. I'll only get another one when I go past due to check on the fluids and see when they should induce. The good thing is that you really can take control of your healthcare here, since you pay for everything. If you do or dont want something you have the control, and if you don't like your nurse of whatever, you can just request another one. so that's pretty good.

hope you're all having a good night's sleep! it's almost 8pm and DH has been working 'til midnight every night so I'm pretty bored. Made myself a really nice meal, but should've doubled the quantity. I'm attacking the cookies.

NomDeClavier · 11/12/2013 06:44

Nope! I had it with DS and freaking loved it. Med student or MW?

SupermansGirl · 11/12/2013 07:41

I had a med student and med MW. Felt really sorry for them they hadent seen a normal birth yet so let them watch in!

violetbean · 11/12/2013 08:01

Uneventful night, getting pains around 5-10 mins apart. Pretty tired, trying to nap but it's not really happening! Hope you're all well.

mumoftwoboysS · 11/12/2013 08:01

Ah rose a scan makes sense with regards to guessing the weight! I haven't had one since I was 20 weeks so god knows how big my baby is!! The 1/5- 5/5 engaged thingy is done by feeling where the neck/head is by pushing their fingers down on the bit right above re pubic bone- v uncomfortable but they seem to be able to tell how far down the head has moved by doing that. I'm hoping mine has shifted down from the 2/5 it was brfore.

nom contractions sound promising. I didn't have a repeat of the other night but am grateful for a better nights sleep!

mumoftwoboysS · 11/12/2013 08:03

Ooh violet contractions for you too? Good luck!

Stom91 · 11/12/2013 08:10

Well the check in inventory was done an hour before we moved in and they admitted then rushed it. Where as the check out one has been thoughough. Which dp has mentioned.
He's mentioned a lot of things and says he's disappointed in the was it was carried out a we feel we left it in a better state than when we arrived. I mean leaves on the garden how pathetic. It's autumn there's going to be leaves.
The dust is just paint per spray where the landlord painted. It just looks like dust. And the plain panel that was replaced before we moved (they're trying to say we did it) dp has written in the email that if they were to check with the landlord he should agree it was already there. They even try to say the mould was our fault. So do has written due to the old building poor heating an no insulation we tried put best to keep it mould free. Etc. The email is a lot better than what I've written here lol

So just got to wait for a reply

Hairdresser just txt to cancel go my appointment! So annoyed :(

NomDeClavier · 11/12/2013 09:09

You're brave! I'm not letting anyone except the MW and a HCA in with me Wink

Cramps kept me awake all night and.....nothing. They've buggered off completely. Oh well, cramps now is fewer later.

Alyssa1978 · 11/12/2013 09:11

So sorry to hear about your troubles stom
I took pictures of my flat the day I moved in and the day I moved out just in case.
The paint was peeling off the wall but it was damp and not my fault and I had to pack around the toilet as it had started leaking again but my landlord etc was aware of if and I guess it helps he was a really lovely man and I got all my deposit back.
Sounds like you're doing all the right things though.
Good luck Hun.

Good luck to all the labouring ladies and hope you get to meet your lo soon xx

BohemianRaspberry · 11/12/2013 11:20

stom -www.gov.uk/tenancy-deposit-protection - seriously use your powers and any evidence you have of asking the landlord to sort the mould and any communication you have regarding your moving in. DH's former landlord tried to screw him over on the deposit and got three times the amount back because the landlord hadn't put the deposit in a scheme.

Still stuck in pre-labour mode over here.

meandbumpy · 11/12/2013 12:45

Congratulations supermans! Brilliant news you got to use the birth pool, I'm well jel of your obviously much more on the ball mws! Lol Grin

violetbean · 11/12/2013 13:01

Pessary has been in about 18 hours but pains have stopped being regular. Sad Am bouncing on the ball and waking around the ward to try to get things going! So uncomfortable, argh.

froubylou · 11/12/2013 14:21

Bet you are fed up Violet. Poor you.

Nearly done house from top to bottom. Been superwoman and moved a chest of drawers that I thought I couldn't shift ready for crib setting up later. An inch of dust behind it yuck.

Back killing now though but more to do with hoovering everywhere I think than shifting drawers around. Hoping its not a SIGN lol. Booked in for friday and got too much to finish off tomorrow.

Sounds daft but what toiletries have you all bought for baby? I'm not a fan of washes and stuff on a newborn but I only have a couple of sample sizes of baby wash and nappy creams. Off to boots tomorrow for lanisoh which I forgot so don't know what to pick up if anything. I know the advice now is not to bath babies as much as when DD was little. And I think I used just plain warm water and cotton wool on her for a long time, then just plain water in her bath and a flannel.

I just remember having a box with alsorts of bits and pieces in that smelt like new babies lol. I like the new baby smell.

Roselau · 11/12/2013 15:34

morning/ afternoon everyone.

still nothing today.... just had a bad sleep but no particular pains etc. so i'm drinking coffee, getting some energy to go for a long walk then yoga. today is 11/12/13 - good day to be born apparently? I know it wont happen for me, I have my hopes on 17.12 as it's a full moon and apparently more babies come on full moons. I'd be happy with that.

violet let's hope it starts seriously happening for you. thinking of you.

frouby sounds like proper nesting with the madness cleaning :) I have no advice on toiletries. I plan on using water for the first few days and then see what is recommended.

MummaDevon · 11/12/2013 16:05

frouby my ante-natal classes said use water with a tiny drop of baby bath or something similar then just a barrier nappy cream, nothing more and I'm sure they said only bath baby twice a week, just top and tail until they get bigger!! Hmmm...!

I too was hoping for an 11/12/13 baby - what a cool birth date! But surprise, surprise..nothing much going on here!! Been having painful crampy BH and huge pressure every night which leads to nothing! No plug gone! Will be seeing midwife tomorrow at 39+6 so hoping she can do something!!
