Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ancelynthecraven · 03/12/2013 16:04

Hello all.
Had my last appointment with my consultant today before my edd of 27th. I've also been given the date and time of my induction in case I go over.
I'ts my 40 th bday on Xmas Eve and it's the hospital policy not to let you go to far past 40 weeks.
At this point I couldn't care less because my SIL has sucked all the joy out of these last few weeks with her behaviour and attitude toward me at the weekend. Suffice to say that she humiliated me several times and even though I stuck up for myself I've been left feeling that I'm the one who is in the wrong.
I've been left feeling that I've done irreparable damage to my relationship with my DH.
So I am now having a very small mulled wine and a cry and don't know whether to run off to my mums.
But I'll stay here because I want to watch series 2 of Torchwood that I treated myself to.
I hope you are all having a far better time of it than me.ThanksThanksThanks

Roselau · 03/12/2013 16:07

whisper I got a couple at John Lewis before I left - they were in packs of two as well for 20 pounds.

sooo i just realised there are 4 of us due on the 21st!! we should start a pool :)

hope you are all well. off to my Dr appointment where I'm sure I'm going to be told there is absolutely no progress... she's still way up there.

mumoftwoboysS · 03/12/2013 16:37

God listen to all of you with the decent bust size! I'm at the beginning of the alphabet- well probably a b/c cup now which is enormous for me Grin tho I do remember a Pamela moment when my milk came in last time- they were huge and funnily enough was the only place I got stretch marks from the insane size change in about 12 hours!

I have a few nursing bras from last time that seem to fit ok but the best thing I bought was those soft crop top style nursing ones you can wear to bed? Highly recommend (mine were Mothercare) as when your milk comes in your boobs are sore and tender and they make it much more comfortable- and you can stick breast pads in too.

I'm officially bloody uncomfortable. Did a Mammoth shop today- did usual Aldi shop but can never get everything so went to Sainsburys - plus the school run- I can't do anything now and there are still bags of shopping I the kitchen floor and the house is a mess and all I want to do is crawl In to bed! Now kids dinner to cook....

mumoftwoboysS · 03/12/2013 17:07

ancelynthecraven sorry you're feeling down- enjoy the mulled wine (ooh I could so have some right now!) SIL sounds like a right cow. Try not to let her bring you down- maybe she's one of those types that gets a kick out of putting others down. Hope you feel better about it all soon

Stom91 · 03/12/2013 17:31

ancel sorry your feeling rubbish. Enjoy the wine :) your SIL sounds awful. Try & ignore her. Sending you big hugs xx

Alyssa1978 · 03/12/2013 17:36

Sorry havent been catching up as much lately, I've been really busy with the little ones.
nom me and baby are doing great thank you, he's feeding more now since the mw came today and helped me with some positing etc and I've just had him wrong and me stressing was stressing him, do we are doing great now.

Lovely name abc Lleyton is up all night too unless I cuddle him next to me which I always said I wouldn't but tiredness does strange things to you lol.

chelsea what a nice unusual name and forget about your ex, he's not worth it and you've got a beautiful new baby to look after.

Well with everything that went on at the hospital with baby being shocked and not breathing well etc, they got his weight wrong, he was 7llb 9oz born not 7llb 14oz but he still looks really tiny.

I'm gonna have a proper catch up now.

itsliz · 03/12/2013 17:42

Oh ancelyn I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling down in the dumps at the moment Sad As mum said, it sounds like your SIL is just causing trouble for the sake of it so please try not to let it get to you too much. For now, just focus on you and the fact that you'll be getting some lovely squishy newborn snuggles soon!
Oh and wine and telly solves everything... Throw some chocolate and a nice hot bath in there and you've got yourself the perfect evening! Thanks

If it's any consolation, it seems like everyone's having a bit of a rubbish time of it lately. A friend was supposed to come and visit today but no sign of her in the end.
My mum popped round as promised though, but after a quick chat, she proceeded to use my phone for half an hour (because she was out of credit and still refuses to get a contract - arghhh!) then moan about something in a way that made me feel like it was my fault before buggering off again.
On top of that I've just been feeling MASSIVELY fed up of being pregnant. Life has become so, so boring now that I'm spending every day doing the same thing and just waiting for this little one to arrive.
I just want to have fun things to do and interesting things to talk about again (as much as I love talking about baby stuff, I do miss having normal conversations once in a while!)

Sigh... Anyway, rant over. I realise I'm incredibly lucky to be pregnant and healthy and everything, but I just can't help feeling really fed up and like I'm being bloody boring!

Hopefully yoga tonight will help me to relax and stop me from being so mopey Grin

Stom91 · 03/12/2013 18:06

Liz I feel the same. Trying to focus on moving on Saturday. But this week is dragging and I keep forgetting what days we are on lol. It's all a blur
I love my baby but I'm fed up of baby talk and even more fed up of people saying 'you're going to be late'. Don't say that it's bloody annoying!! Dad keeps saying Xmas day & my auntie keeps saying the 27th ONLY because it's her birthday that day.

Had my 38 week check today and dd is it right position but head is still 'free' mw said baby won't be going anywhere yet :(
Fed up.com
On a plus I done all my Christmas shopping on amazing today. Got my mum & nan some earring which were £25 down to £5!! They're Swarovski crystals too :)
I had a budget of £70 & I spent £79 so jot too bad I always get carried away so that's good for me lol. Though I did spend an extra £18 on dp :/ ooops lol

BohemianRaspberry · 03/12/2013 18:06

ancelyn your SIL sounds like a bitch to wind up a pregnant woman and by the sounds of it, take spleasure in doing so. Your DH should hopefully be understanding of the situation. Snuggle down with the aftermath of your mulled wine and telly.

I'm not too rubbish atm itsliz but I really hate it when people say they want to support/look after/see you but really they don't.

I am going crazy with boredom! I want to do things and be busy but I'm too achy-painy, crampy and increasingly knackered to do it. Do you think the torture of the last two weeks of being pregnant is designed to prepare you for the birth - you simply get too fed up with the waiting and you'll put up with anything just to get them out!

PistachioTruffle · 03/12/2013 18:17

Bohemian, I reckon that must be exactly what it's designed for - You're so fed up of being pregnant that you look forward to labour! I've got a hair appointment and cinema booked this week to try and tempt baby to come out!

It was good fun telling people in shops who asked today that I'm due at any day now, they all looked slightly scared Grin

BetterWithCheese · 03/12/2013 18:21

ancelyn that sounds awful! I hate difficult family members and the trouble they cause. Hope your DH is supporting you.

nom I do believe you're right about my current job paying SMP. I have met all the qualifying conditions. It's just confusing as they are both NHS jobs so I'm entitled to Occ Mat Pay through new job but not SMP. Regardless, I'll either get SMP or MA and it's the same amount. I'm going to try to get a duplicate MatB1 form tomorrow to take to new job as they still need it as proof for Occ Mat Pay - changing jobs at 38 weeks pregnant is a bit daft Smile

Love the positive thoughts chelsea. No more cramps but lots of BH today and baby quite low. People at work are looking at me like I'm a ticking time bomb, which I suppose I am.

whisper I like Bravado nursing bras. The soft ones are really comfy and their Bliss bras give a good lift and shape. But they are more expensive than M&S. I fed for 14 months with DS though, so needed good, supportive bras for a long time.

37 weeks today!

mumoftwoboysS · 03/12/2013 19:44

This is THE most uncomfortable I've been so far (in all 3 pregnancies) I can't stand up for more than a few minutes. The pressure down below is unbeatable, aches and pains... Sad this baby HAS to come early. I usually go to pregnancy yoga but tonight I can't move.

mumoftwoboysS · 03/12/2013 19:48

Btw, to those of you who've had your baby- or those who haven't, did you/are you planning to use a Tens machine? I used one for both my previous labours but really don't know if I should bother this time. ESP as my labour could be quick. I think it was something to concentrate on but not sure if it really helped... Can't decide

extracrunchy · 03/12/2013 19:57

Mumoftwo I'm with you on both your posts - never been so uncomfortable even with giant baby in previous pregnancy and also wondering whether a TENS is worth it this time. Had one last time but can't remember if it was particularly effective.

Also potentially cutting it a bit fine getting a rental one delivered!

NomDeClavier · 03/12/2013 20:02

I have a TENS (I bought one) and plan to use it. It's also surprisingly effective for all sorts of non-childbirth pains.

Mogz · 03/12/2013 20:04

Mum I've bought a TENS machine to use whilst I'm at home so I can stay at home for as long as possible as I have become very uncomfortable around hospitals during this pregnancy due to a lot of complications. Hope it works!
Ancelyn focus on yourself and ignore any toxic people around you, it's most important that you and baby and happy and healthy at the moment. I hope you'll be ok.

13loki · 03/12/2013 20:06

Yes yes yes to TENS machine. I accidentally left it in the car this time. Last time I slept with it on through early labour. This time I wpuld jave killed to have it for the last half hour, alongside the gas and air.

Alyssa1978 · 03/12/2013 20:24

I never used a tens machine mum but even if I had one i doubt it would have helped with the drip fuelled contractions I was having Sad

Hope everyone gets done relief soon xx

MummaDevon · 03/12/2013 20:35

Bohemian I'm with you completely on the last two weeks comment. I'm only on the second day of maternity leave but it feels like I've been off forever, so bored! Did so much yesterday and have cleaned like a crazy woman today!
Getting strong Braxton hicks again tonight, my bump goes like concrete and it bloody sore! Just want to meet my baby!
My friend had her baby last Friday and all I've heard are horror stories about not being allowed pain relief, giving birth in a room with just a recliner and no bed.......scared!! :-/

Sorelip · 03/12/2013 20:39

Hi all, waters have gone so will be going to the hospital shortly.

MrsS28 · 03/12/2013 20:42

Oooh exciting Sorelip! Best of luck hope everything goes well x

Stom91 · 03/12/2013 20:53

Good luck sorelip xx

Chelsealady · 03/12/2013 21:00

Good luck Sorelip not many ladies left now!

I was just thinking is anyone having more than 1 baby in this thread?

Gannetgob · 03/12/2013 21:03

That's exciting Sorelip. Good luck!

Mumma, I'm bored too. This is week 5 of maternity leave for me (plus a week of half term on top of that!) I am climbing the walls. I am so fed up. Everyone is at work, Christmas presents are done, baby stuff is sorted, Christmas cards are half written. I'm 38+4 and the thought of doing this for another 3ish weeks is just awful. I know I left at the right time, but I'm just fed up now.

Ah well, won't be long until we are all really busy!

ccsays · 03/12/2013 21:10

ancelyn sorry to hear about your sister, sounds like she's maybe a bit jealous of the attention you'll be getting?

Good luck sorelip, how exciting!

Had my 38 week midwife appointment today at 37+4. She seems very nice, but asks me the same questions every time I see her, so clearly forgets me the moment I walk out the door (I've corrected her when she refers to the baby as 'he', the last five visits but she still forgets). She said that the baby's head is very far down (though not engaged?) so not to worry that I was measuring 35 weeks.

I've got a CPN coming out to see me on Thursday (my Mum's bipolar puts me at a small increased risk of PND and Post Natal Psychosis, woo) and I kind of wish she'd just fuck off. Keeps trying to get me to try 'tapping' which involves tapping on yourself at various acupuncture points to 'unblock negative energy' Xmas Hmm She says that even though there's not the science behind it, she's seen it work for enough people to know it works. I'd really like to say 'PRACTICES NOT GROUNDED IN EVIDENCE BASED RESEARCH HAVE NO PLACE IN THE NHS, PISS OFF YOU CHARLATAN' but I don't have the balls. Bleurgh.
