Crikey so much has gone on recently! Congratulations to everyone who has their babies already! Some great names (Chelsea I wanted Indiana if lo is a girl but DH said no Sad).

I'm due 15th and other than period pains a that last about 5 mins a few times a day there is absolutely no signs anything its about to happen. starting to get hot flushes with period pains, anyone else get this?

NomDeClavier · 03/12/2013 09:44

better you should get SMP from the job you were in at the qualifying week.

I'm also disappointed there are no babies. We has such a rush of them...

Well done loki! It's all that tramping DD to the chilinder in the snow that did it (and the absence of a mammoth baby!). How do you pronounce Älfi? I keep wanting to say it like Elfie but that's probably wrong.

I thought DD had dropped last night but nope, she's back up today. Slightly worried that by my self-palpation she's LOT rather than LOA. Have also decided that today and tomorrow are good days for going into labour as my favourite MW has just gone down to L&D and is working, although that would necessitate a) going to Paris this weekend with a newborn, b) explaining why I don't want to go and depending the weekend alone with a newborn or c) staying in hospital until Monday with no DH to visit....

The 14th or 15th is more likely though as I'll have finished work, won't have childcare issues and should have prepared all the Christmas presents. Although I currently have no card for online shopping so no idea how ill get DH what he wants. FB people might remember that my card details got nicked? Well turns out my other credit card has just expired and I haven't received my new one. So I have a cash card and that's it. Argh!

13loki · 03/12/2013 09:47

Getting back into pre-pregnancy shape is easier when that shape was fat and lumpy! And being sick wvery day for the first 2 trimesters and then being in too much SPD pain to move to get any food in the last trimester helps, too.
I think I put on about 9kg. Älfi was nearly 4.5kg, so if I got on the scales now I think I qould be lighter than when I got pregnant. I have extremely flabby tummy.

13loki · 03/12/2013 09:59

Yep, Nom it is closest to Elfie. Can you ring the bank to find out about replacement cards?

DS has an inset day at school, so today DH went back to work and left me with 3 kids. Tomorrow we will have just the younger 2 and 2 adults.

MrsShrubs · 03/12/2013 10:15

meand that's ridiculous! We're doing the same on the not telling them front- we might mention it to my mum & dad as they live 250miles away so they can't just turn up but not telling my MIL otherwise she'd probably get into the birthing pool with me! And of course all of our bodies have changed since we've been carrying a baby for 9months but it doesn't have to stay that way if we don't want it to, might not do a Kate Middleton and get a washboard stomach due to lack of money and personal trainers lol!

chelsea I agree I'd say something just in case something biggers going on behind the scenes with her. Also my stretch marks from being a teen are silver and barely noticeable so I'm guessing that's what will happen to these ones, I've bought a stretch mark fader by cussons as it was on offer, has great reviews about it too.

Chelsealady · 03/12/2013 10:15

MrsEllsmore Just aswell I have no DP to argue over names ;) all my choice!

Iv got the coco butter firming cream and bio oil £12 each by the way!!! In shock. Probably forget to use it aswell knowing me.

Indiana is seriously the most energetic baby I have ever met forever moving her arms and legs. She was sucking her lips in her sleep last night dreaming. Dr said she will come and check on us later and if all is well we will be able to home tomorrow as they are happy with her and me. I feel very saw today which is strange as I didn't yesterday.

Oh and no one mentioned about your first wee.....ouch!!!!!

MummaDevon · 03/12/2013 10:21

Can I join? I know I'm a little late.. I'm 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant with a girl. Just started maternity leave yesterday. Really thought something was going to happen last night as strong regular Braxton hicks and an upset tummy, then went cleaning mad, even tried to move the microwave to get underneath! But today, here I am, sat infront of Jeremy Kyle....waiting.. :-/

MildredH · 03/12/2013 10:36

Welcome mumma- never too late! We have an active Facebook group too if you want to join.. ( I think it's whisper or Frouby who admins it?)

Seeing midwife today. Am40+3. Going to beg for a sweep but apparently they decided last week not to do them til 41 weeks in our area. Great timing!!

Don't understand why.. I know it has more chance of working at 41 but it's fairly low risk and natural so where is the harm?

Off to do my weekly lady garden tidy up just in case! ( when I can tear myself away from daytime tv).

Have a nice day all x

There you go frouby, all done! Seems I've become chief list updater Grin

Welcome to the December thread, Mumma! As Mildred said, never too late to join in. We're a chatty bunch though so hope you can keep up!

I've got to admit that I'm dreading getting my body back into shape after pregnancy... I've never been happy with how I look, so I don't know how we'll I'll cope with stretch marks and an even flabbier tummy than before to contend with.
MrsShrubs I've got the same Mum & Me stretch mark fader (which Cussons sent to me for free - the joys of being a blogger! Grin ) so fingers crossed it lives up to all the rave reviews.
Has anyone used Bio Oil on stretch marks before to know if it's as good as everyone says?

MrsShrubs · 03/12/2013 11:06

That's amazing itsliz I managed to get it for £2.49 in tesco the other week, they had a mini flash sale on some mum to be bits, bargain!! I used bio oil on old ones and a scar but didn't see much change but they might do a better job on new ones.

extracrunchy · 03/12/2013 11:13

I didn't have much luck with Bio Oil either, Shrubs!

Stom91 · 03/12/2013 11:15

My dp is going with if your mum knows your in labour then I'm telling mum. Urgh. Even if my mum hasn't got a choice but to take me to the hospital if dp is at work I still have to tell his mum.
He's like well your mum will just tell everyone
I'm like how do you know your mum won't!?!?

Sometimes I wish I could just sit in a dark room and do it on my own and not tell anyone anything for ages.
Then he said. Maybe we won't make calls to announce it we will just post it on Facebook. Erm no.
I want us to a have a few hours without anyone knowing. And he's is not telling his good friend either as his other mate had a baby and told said friend who put it all over Facebook before they had told anyone else.

If mum has to be there then she has to be there I'm not guna get her to take me to the hosp wait for dp then kick her out (that's what he wants) that's just mean. He thinks that she will take over and want first hug etc. But because he won't even try to like my family he doesn't know that she won't do that. She will just be there in the background until we ask her to do anything.
I sai she's not guna barge in and kick him out the way.
It really winds me up how my mum and dad do quite a lot for us yet dp won't acknowledge it - my mum has done our washing for nearly a year now but he's never said thanks and even moaned when mum asked us to buy some washing powder. He thinks my dad is an idiot which he's not he's an ex builder I kept sayin to dp get dad to look at the bathroom he'll be able to fix it. And he's like no no then he asks his dad to do it (who designs car and hasn't a clue about building) so I told his dad my dad can do it he knows what he talking about and only when his mum and dad say why don't u get my dad to look does he agree. It's so bloody annoying.

Sorry I've just full on ranted - bit annoyed with dp cos he's guessed his Xmas present which I bought him in august! I haven't hinted or even asked if he wanted it as I wanted it to be a total surprise. Gutted. The twonk lol

Anyway I'm off to the mw for my 38 week check :)

BohemianRaspberry · 03/12/2013 11:27

welcome mumma your due date's near mine! I'm 38+5

mean think you might need to "be in too much pain" to remember to ring your mum Wink

My stretch marks have just utilised my silvery ones from where I gained weight ages ago. I have three little new ones from LO's favourite kicking spot but they are tiny. I haven't been using creams on them very much.

Well still losing mucus in little bits and LO is kicking away through BH. Got backaches as well but at least I managed to go into town and back! LO now has a cosy suit and I have nursing bras that actually fit. Was walking around like a little old lady though ...

MummaDevon · 03/12/2013 11:48

Thank you for all the welcomes :-) I'm due on 13th (a Friday!). How do I find the Facebook page, I tried looking! Bohemian I went into town yesterday and ended up walking round like an OAP. Today I've decided I won't be venturing out too far! Is everyone ready for Christmas?

NomDeClavier · 03/12/2013 12:01

No way am I telling anyone! Although if MIL is here she'll know and I'll have to gag her to prevent her telling FiL and the rest of the family. Hmm. Not really thought that through. Okay little one, you can come tomorrow!

I haven't got any stretch marks yet and didn't get any with DS either that I saw but when he was out my stomach still went crinkly like I should have had some. Plenty of moisturiser! I have a brilliant La Prairie body caviar (friend who used to work in a spa have me an enormous bottle) that has the added bonus of gold shimmer so it makes moisturising fun. Small things....

Welcome mumma. The FB group is secret (bloody good thing the stuff we write there sometimes!) so you need to PM whisper or stom with a link to your profileand they'll add you.

Well done for going into town, bohemian. I'm dreading the nursery run in a bit. It used to take 20mins now it's over half an hour which cuts into my chilling out time considerably. Although today I need to scrub the floors, not as a labour kick starter but because if it does now is a good time and it won't be done until the end of next week if I don't do it t

lisbapalea · 03/12/2013 12:27

Welcome Mumma - I have added you to the list below!

I eventually got back to sleep after 2hrs of being awake in the middle of the night, but I then had a 1.5hr kip on the sofa this morning after dropping DD at preschool - I feel slightly more human now!

I have definitely got more stretchmarks this time around than with DD - I did use bio-oil quite religiously last time, and have barely remembered to use anything this time, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it? Mind you, my bump is definitely more 'sticky-outy' this time around, and with DD was wider, if that makes sense? I don't know if that is because of the old wives tale of pointy bumps being boys (we don't know what this one is, but lots of people including me and DH do think it's a boy), or if maybe it's because DD was breech, and this one is currently head down. Or maybe it's just because I am older and fatter anyway! I am trying not to stress about the marks though - as I am having a 2nd c-section my lower belly is going to be a write off anyway, not that it was an oil painting before - far from it!!

I am taking it easy today - going to try and ebay a load of crap that has built up in our junk spare room; hope that by doing it today I can post it next week, or take it to the charity shop if it hasn't sold, so that either way it is gone from the house in time for baby's arrival.

I took the dog out for a 1.5hr walk yesterday afternoon which made me feel good for being active, but did scare me a bit as I felt like my nether regions were about to fall out, so I think it'll be a shorter walk for the dog this afternoon!

Good luck to those with due dates looming and hope that all twinges either ease up or turn into quick pain-free labours!!

GodRestYeMerryWhisperMen · 03/12/2013 12:32

Nursing bras, I need your advice guys. I don't have a lot of money to spend on them and I haven't really got a clue what I am doing in regards as to what to buy. Any suggestions?

lisbapalea · 03/12/2013 12:36

Hi whisper I have bought two different two-packs from M&S as I don't know what size I will be - have bought a pack of F-cups and a pack of G-cups and will take one pair back once I know what my norks are doing. I don't think they were too £££, and there were two bras in a pack.

I remember last time going onto figleaves.com the day I got home from hospital having to order more as my boobs had grown to crazy proportions and thankfully they delivered new ones really quickly! The brand I used last time was 'Emma' I think (may have mis-remembered that though)?? They were good but am sure there are lots more to choose from.

BohemianRaspberry · 03/12/2013 12:44

M&S - bought a pair of F-cups - they have a little room to move in them. I have an Emma Jayne soft one too that I ordered from amazon.

Now I need to go out again to mental health appt (got a cancellation woo!). Still, at least if I go into labour fully, it's actually at the hospital this time.

Chelsealady · 03/12/2013 13:20

Whisper as Lis said M&S do two packs I purchased ones without underwire as im finding bras super annoying at the moment but they also do underwired 2 packs. They had 20% off yesterday online on all underwear (purchased some big knickers) don't know if the sale is on still.

NomDeClavier · 03/12/2013 13:22

I didn't buy until after my milk came in. I used sleep bras and nursing vests with a support not until then. If you plan on extended nursing then buy in your normal back size and the cup size you are now - they'll do for the first few days with a back extender and then after around 3/4m when your boobs settle back.

Depending on what size you are different brands will or won't suit you and there isn't much predicting really.

Whatever you get avoid seams across the cups and wires, when if you usually need them, because those are two prime causes of mastitis.

GodRestYeMerryWhisperMen · 03/12/2013 13:47

ooh thanks for the advice guys. I don't really know what size I am atm as I haven't been measured in forever. I just wear some soft bras with back extenders I got from m&s that still seem to fit. I'll go get measured and go from there I think.

NomDeClavier · 03/12/2013 14:40

Don't rely on M&S measurements. Go over to style & beauty and ask one of te lovely bra ladies to help you measure yourself before you go. M&S keep trying to put me in a 36D when I'm actually a 32E/F depending on style and brand....

Dasie · 03/12/2013 14:47

Well I'm 40+3 today and had my MW appt this morning. She kindly gave me the stretch and sweep as planned. Wasn't too bad an experience!! Baby's head is only halfway down though but she said cervix is nice n soft and I'm 1-2cm so that's better that shut tight!! Had a show with the S&s but nothing has happened so far since. Been for a good walk into town to try n encourage this baby to get on down!!

I've got a couple of the Emma Jane maternity bras that have a soft cup and you can buy them in back size but they then fit a few cup sizes which is handy if you don't want to commit or like me haven't really got a clue!!
