Been a bit busy recently since DS was born on 29th November, 11.19pm weighing a delicate 6lbs 6oz (just incase anyone here's not on FB). His name - James Peter - was decided on for a while so just got to not use his in utero nickname of Archie lol. He's absolute perfection but likes to keep us up all night and sleep soundly during the day Envy

Stom91 · 02/12/2013 20:10

Yeah. I wonder how hetsto is getting on. I hope she's ok

I can't keep up with this thread lately lol too fast for me.

We are all packed up :). Moved on Saturday just got to pack the kitchen. :)
Bit sad to be leaving our first home together but going to make some be fantastic memories in our new home :)
I can't wait :)
I have my 38 week check tomoz. I'm only 37+3 Though lol

Me and dp have sold some stuff and we've made £100. Sold a tv table and a office chair. Quite chuffed & we are getting a £60 refund on our tv license & we don't need to pay council tax this month. So that really helps for Xmas and with hiring a van to move :) :)

There you go vanilla, all done! Smile

Stom that's great news, so glad to hear everything's finally coming together for you! It's scary though, doesn't seem like that long ago that you mentioned securing your new place and having to wait aaaaages before being able to move in... And now we're here!

I must admit I haven't been on any other MN threads for a while so I don't know if hetsto is still around on here. She really was lovely though, really hope her and her OH are coping ok...

meandbumpy · 02/12/2013 21:08

Moan alert, sorry in advance!

Feeling a bit off today, all this waiting around is giving me too much time to think. Life has changed so much in the past few years that I sometimes don't quite know who I am and I'm starting to get concerned that it'll be hard to define myself as a mother.
In 2011 I was a successful design manager living the high life and being spoilt by dp. In 2012 I was a depressed, broke and an unemployed bum who sat around crying all day. In 2013 I became pregnant, have moved house and counties and am about to become a SAHM. I've always looked forward to being a mum and wanted to do the stay at home thing, but because of the life disruption lately I don't think I've had time to process that it's actually happening. Does it sound weird that after all the crap I'm reluctant to let myself enjoy life, to let myself enjoy being a mum?
It's a dream come true to be having this baby and i'm completely in love with it already. But at the same time when I try to imagine actually having it here and doing all the mummy things I feel some how guilty and that I don't deserve any of it.

I know I've got to let it all go and move on but not sure how.

mumoftwoboysS · 02/12/2013 21:22

mean I'm not sure how to help but you do deserve it and you need to let yourself enjoy being mum and being happy. Think of this as a new exciting (and possibly challenging!) phase in your life! It will have its ups and downs but the overwhelming thing will be the love you feel for your baby and the joy he or she will bring!

I sometimes feel dispair being a SAHM (was made redundant after having DC2) but remind myself that for now this is my job and I'm going to make the most of all the time I spend with them.

On another note I'm having the most strong BH ever! My stomach is distorting into huge horrid shapes and it's really quite painful!...

Roselau · 02/12/2013 21:22

meand seems like a lot of change indeed. totally understand just how overwhelming it must be. I think as women we always feel guilty about something and we need to try hard to get rid of that guilt because it doesn't help you, doesn't help your LO, nor your DP. you deserve this baby, and you deserve to be a sahm if that's what you want to be. and in terms of feeling guilty about it, i think choosing to be a sahm is probably the harder choice and a harder job than going back to work. you will be amazing at it, and you've suffered enough for 9 months to be allowed to enjoy it!
i think time will help you move on. i have days when i also have too much time to think and i'm depressed, then the next day i'm wondering what was i thinking? but i think that once the lo is here, you will not have time to overthink things, just let yourself enjoy every moment, you truly deserve it. hang in there xx

Roselau · 02/12/2013 21:23

mum BH or contractions?!? I'm still not sure i'll be able to differentiate as my BH are sometimes quite painful too

GodRestYeMerryWhisperMen · 02/12/2013 21:24

awesome that it's not long till you move storm just think how warm you'll be Smile

I'm currently in bed crying. I'm beyond exhausted. 4 nights of 3 hours at most sleep and being in constant low level niggling pain is horrible. add to that spending about 8 hours in a car in two days and having to socialise and be perky has done me in. baby has also not stopped wriggling all day today and is ramping it up tonight so looks like very little sleep will happen again. I hate these end of 3rd trimester weeks Sad

MrsS28 · 02/12/2013 21:32

meandbumpy firstly, don't apologise for moaning, you're in good company as I think must of us are feeling emotional and fed up!

And you will absolutely love being a mum, especially if you're planning to be a SAHM! Having children opens up a new world to you and although it's tough, you'll soon settle into it and love every minute.

I felt a bit strange after having my little girl in 2011. My dad died when I was 6 months pregnant so he was gone, I moved house at 38 weeks and obviously went from working full-time to mat leave. Then a baby arrived. Sometimes I felt like I didn't recognise my life as it'd changed do dramatically in some ways. But yet I was the happiest if ever been because being a mum is so very special!

I would happily have given up work but couldn't quite afford to, so instead I stepped down a level and just went back 2 days per week (after 14 months off). And although I still work, it's completely different because I don't have the time & seniority to give all I have to offer professionally. But I don't mind this as it's so much more fulfilling being at home raising my little girl.

I hope this has helped. But just to reassure you that the way you are feeling is normal. And that I'm pretty sure in a couple of months time you'll be happier than you've ever been Smile xxx

meandbumpy · 02/12/2013 21:36

Thank you mum and Rose. It feels like someone is giving me exactly what I wanted and I keep thinking where's the catch, why am I getting this. Urgh, it's so stupid.
I'm really hanging on to the hope that I'll be so busy and dealing with all the challenges that I'll get a new perspective and be able to let myself enjoy the good stuff.
People keep saying things like 'you'll never sleep again', 'the baby will dictate your time', 'labour is soo hard and painful' etc etc etc... but I feel like I've been sat around doing nothing with my life for so long that even these challenging bits will be better than the dread of waking up and having nothing to do. It's all the fun stuff I'm apprehensive about!

mum welcome to the crazy BHs club! Are you getting lumps and bumps popping up everywhere or the one big beach ball effect!?

MrsS28 · 02/12/2013 21:39

Rose you're right about us always feeling guilty about something!!

whisper and others- I'm so glad it's not just me who feels totally fed up with this stage of pregnancy!

meandbumpy · 02/12/2013 21:44

Thank you MrsS that really does help. It's good to hear about others going through big changes before becoming a parent. I'm glad to hear you were still so happy even though you were having to figure your new life out and deal with things.
I'm relieved that this is a normal way to feel. It's so hard to imagine myself as a mum even though it's something i so desperately want. Maybe you're right, I'll just need time to get used to it. x

Stom91 · 02/12/2013 21:50

I can't wait it's going to be so cozy :D
Trying to keep busy this week so it doesn't drag too much

Sorry to those feeling rubbish hope you feel better soon x

mumoftwoboysS · 02/12/2013 22:08

mean I feel that way when things are going well- I become convinced something cad will happen as surely I don't deserve such happiness! It is the most amazing and rewarding thing and despite sometimes feeling like I can't cope, I feel so privileged to be able to give all my time to my kids. (Ask me again in 6 months and I may say I'm looking for full time work so I can have a break from 3 kids-lol!)

Yes the lumpy bumpy type of BH! My bump contorts into weird shapes and god feels like it's going to burst with the stretching (which kind of starts towards my erm back regions and works it's way past my fanjo and up) can't be proper contractions but feeling close. I remember with both DC's having a practice run a week before dd where I had regular contractions for a few hours but they never got stronger or closer together...

mumoftwoboysS · 02/12/2013 22:08

'Bad' not cad!

mumoftwoboysS · 02/12/2013 22:12

Oh and who mentioned a sore/swollen fanjo? You said that doc or mw says it's normal? Mine feels like that too- ouch! May not be able to dtd with DH to start eviction at this rate- tried last week and it was really sore Sad
