Congratulations on your baby boy pixie! I'm sure everything is fine, I'm keeping everything crossed for you. You know these babies practically tie their legs behind their heads in there so goodness knows what awkward positions they get themselves in! At least they're checking things out and being thorough - which is what you want. Feel free to have a wobble though - that's what we're here for!

MrsFooCough · 12/12/2013 16:56

Hooray for team yellow moomin !!! Us too when we have a scan, unless Bean flashes us the goods...
Also, had the 16wk appt today and our midwife listened in on the heartbeat Xmas Grin so we have ourselves a recording of a galloping horse Bean! So exciting Xmas Smile

bluestone85 · 12/12/2013 17:35

Well I've got my scan on 13th Jan. Was supposed to be 9th but the husband had paid for flight for me to go with my mum and sister go gran canaria for a week! its my birthday and Christmas present from him :) last relaxing holiday in the sun for a long time I should suspect! xx

hamncheese · 12/12/2013 17:49

Congrats on your boy pixie and sending good vibes that nothing is wrong :)

bluestone enjoy it! We took DS to fuerteventura when he was 5mo and while it was a good holiday there was no relaxation involved. So I prescribe a lot of lying in by the pool and reading, two things I missed greatly when we went. But the memories of his first time on the beach made up for it!

I've been a bit wobbly this last week. Panic attacks every night and no sleep, horrible. Went to counselling and have gotten some time off from watching DS and doing phd next week. Hoping that does the trick. Otherwise getting close to the point of considering weighing the risks of taking anti anxiety meds during pregnancy... :(

loopylou52 · 12/12/2013 17:56

Congrats pixie! I'm sure he's fine but good to know they're being thorough.

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time ham. Hope you feel better next week.

moominleigh94 · 12/12/2013 17:56

Fingers crossed everything's fine pixie, congrats on team blue and lots of positive vibes!

Baby had legs crossed, we're going back in two weeks so they can do a more detailed heart scan as they couldn't see all the valves but not overly worried about that. They offered to find the gender again then, but we discussed it over a morrisons breakfast and decided we'd like a surprise - and I want to ask if it's possible for OH to be the one who tells me the gender when it's born :)

rebeccax2 · 12/12/2013 17:57

Who's felt their baby moving? Any first time mums? And when? I'm 17 + 4 and nothing yet - so desperate for the first flutters.

Xavielli · 12/12/2013 18:02

A galloping horse is a very clear gender indication, MrsFoo Wink

moominleigh94 · 12/12/2013 18:16

I'm 20+3 and getting kicked every day now rebecca

Xavi I think I'm having a girl because of gallopy heartbeat, but I guess we'll find out in April/May Grin

MrsFooCough · 12/12/2013 18:27

Really Xav and moomin ? I REALLY WANT A GIRL BUT I DON'T KNOW WHYYYYY. But it kind of did sound like gallops...so that's a girl then? YAAAAAAYYYYY ~waves Team Pink banner~ I'm proper excited now. Maybe I'll be able to see in the 20wk scan... ~sneaks a peek~

rebeccax2 · 12/12/2013 19:17

OOoh okay moomin not long to go. :-)

I also really want a girl Mrsfoo which is weird because I've ALWAYS wanted boys.

Flixy102 · 12/12/2013 19:44

I thought the heart always sounded like horsey gallops, despite the sex? (Mine sounds like horse gallops and I've always thought I'm having a girl-hopefully find out next Thursday!)

Xavielli · 12/12/2013 19:45

Girls heartbeats always sound much more distinct than boys... Boys kind of sound like a train chuffing. It's been true for all of mine, anyway. I don't really have a preference re: gender this time, which is strange as I always have before.

Can feel pud moving loads now, can poke him and get him to move if he's too quiet now too Grin saw the first movement from the outside last night at 19+4 (5th baby = zero tummy muscles )

dobedobedo · 12/12/2013 20:25

Ds had a gallopy heartbeat and he's a boy. This one isn't so much gallopy as it is just a fast thumping. Who knows?! I can't wait to find out the sex.
Btw, if anyone has an Xmas party or fancy do coming up, can I recommend the jojo maman baby black long dress with the sequin waist band. It's so flattering, despite the baby bump!
I'm feeling movements every day a lot, but they are muffled. No sharp jabs or kicks yet. I'm pretty sure I did have kicks at this stage with ds so I'm inclined to think I've got an anterior placenta. Or maybe I'm just fatter this time lol.

loopylou52 · 12/12/2013 20:26

I've felt fluttering feelings, usually when very still, but then I still keep second guessing them and think maybe it's something else. I'm 18+4 today.

mrsmummytobe · 12/12/2013 20:47

Ooh ours had a gallopy heartbeat & it's a girl!

Fingers crossed for you pixie.

Ham hope everything is ok.

mrsmummytobe · 12/12/2013 20:54

I would just like to recommend a 4d scan! We had one & the level of detail you get is unbelievable. We could see all our little daughter's features really clearly, things like her nose & ears & we could see her little fingers & toes wiggling, it was absolutely amazing & we both felt so excited about meeting her. It's incredible they can get such a good picture of such a tiny little baby!

BlanketSky · 12/12/2013 21:26

yay, good news on scans today. 4D scans are great but if you are going to have one do it soon- we paid for one with DS1 but left it too late really and because he was much bigger it was harder to see him iyswim?

Thanks for nice messages too. (Tfmr is termination for medical reasons, can't remember who asked).

Does anyone else have an anterior placenta? I keep getting paranoid that she's not moving much but think she must be hiding behind it a lot of the time, which doesn't help my nerves! Rebecca in my first pregnancy I felt DS move about 16-17 weeks, but my placenta was right at the back, and he wriggled about a lot (still does at almost 3...). My friend had an anterior placenta with her first and didn't feel anything til almost 23 weeks though, so don't panic.

Pixie, ime fetal medicine staff are very good, my scans have been so thorough and hopefully you'll get reassurance rather than find anything wrong. Hugs- and don't google!

AlyssInAManger · 12/12/2013 22:22

I'm feeling a lot better today. I went to ikea and blue water with my family, and I wasn't able to walk much so we borrowed a wheelchair! My abdomen is still really uncomfortable when I stand up, and if I walk too far it starts to hurt, but I feel better internally.

Xavielli · 12/12/2013 22:34

Glad you managed to get out Alyss, hope you had a lovely time and that the soreness passes quickly xx

LongTailedTit · 12/12/2013 22:57

Glad to hear you're on the mend Alyss! xx

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION
For anyone worried about slipping and falling on ice, a Swiss friend if mine gave me a pair of 'Ice Grippers' when I was preg with DS - basically a set of walking grips/spikes on a rubber net you wear over your normal shoe soles. I was commuting during winter and they seriously saved me a lot of falls! Fantastic on compacted snowy/icy footpaths, even in London where it was like walking on an ice rink for weeks.
Mine were always a bit too big so I've passed them on to DH and just got myself a pair of Yaktrax from Millets - really good and easily fit over all my shoes & wellies.

Also bloody brilliant for winter walking with a baby in a sling!

MrsFooCough · 13/12/2013 06:14

DH and I always said we'd name a girl Grace Caroline and a boy John Arthur, but John was my grandpa's name and I don't think I could handle that so soon after his death. So here are new boy names:
Leo (not short for anything like Leonard)
Fox
and Sam (again, not short for Samuel)
What do we think?? I LOVE Leo, not sure about Fox, but it's growing on me, and Sam was one of my favourites for years anyway Xmas Smile

Anyone else had name idea changes?

MrsFooCough · 13/12/2013 06:16

Oh and I second Long 's product rec, DH works in London and commutes from here, weather can drastically change over a 60mi journey! He had a pair of those last winter, no idea what brand but they fit well as he has size 10 feet, pretty average, and he said on icy days it was like watching Dancing on Ice walking thru Central London!

wm3010 · 13/12/2013 08:07

Morning ladies, good to hear positive scan news. Our scan is next Friday and I'm looking forward to it (trying to keep the nerves to the back of my mind). I am getting definite movements now, first one I was sure of was last Saturday so 18+2 but I think I had had a couple before that.

Rubbish start to the day, am on antibiotics for a UTI just now (which are making me a bit nauseous, just what I need) and feeling a bit rubbish. On top of that, my dh is laid up on crutches at home so not getting paid and also needing a fair bit of help in the morning. Got in the car to come to work, reversed out of the drive and managed to scrape it along the wooden fence! It was too dark to see the damage properly but at least one bit of the top paint coat has come off. Feel awful, I wouldn't even be using the car if dh was fit as he drops me at the station on his way to work. Plus money is a bit tight and I am worried about how much it is going to cost to fix. Anyway, thanks for letting me moan!

ThePollyAndTheIvy · 13/12/2013 09:01

Morning all, got my 16 week appt today (at 17+5!) and can't wait to hear the heartbeat!

I'm sure I felt movement the other day, but second guessing myself a little.

We know he's a he, so I'll report back about his heartbeat Smile
