Good luck with the treatment Alyss

Vikks that name is gorgeous! We have the beginnings of a shortlist for either gender... scary to think that after Thursday, we'll (hopefully) be able to disregard one of the lists! Got Dylan and Alistair so far for boys, and Celyn for a girl but either Georgia or Saffron as a middle name... however the lists look set to grow Grin

ThistletoeAndWine · 10/12/2013 17:27

My gp managed to hear mini thistle today! Never get bored of hearing that sound :-)

loopylou52 · 10/12/2013 18:15

Great news mumof2, hope you've got your feet up. Hope Alyss is doing ok.

vikks - Olivia Rose is one of my fave combinations of girls names. I love Rose generally as a middle name but dh isn't keen - need to get working on him!

Vikks · 10/12/2013 19:33

Aww thanks Everyone! DP and me would have struggled longer with our boys name but ‘Olivia Rose’ was top of the girls list for both of us. We've started calling her by name now when we talk to her, it feels lovely.Smile

I can’t wait to hear everyone else's happy scan results (with or without gender news). I can’t believe we are approaching half way, we’ll be having those lovely newborn snuggles before we know it.

Nanny Yes we've started shopping. I've not gone mad yet, I’m hoping for some bargains in the January sales. It was just a gender scan, I’m still waiting for 20 week scan appointment and I’m nearly 18 weeks. They are a bit slow around here.

Spirael · 10/12/2013 19:56

Hi all! Been a bit sporadic with posting again, sorry. I won't go into details, but someone has decided to ensure I can't post during the daytime in the week now.

Very belated and I'm not sure whether she'll be back to read this, but you have my deepest sympathies, Little. I was really hoping for a happier outcome for all of you. Imogen is a beautiful name for your baby girl.

Still keeping everything crossed for your twins, Alyss, and I'm glad to hear that things are (relatively!) ok mumof2aimingfor4. We do seem to have had more than our fair share of ups and downs in this thread!

Love the name Olivia Rose, Vikks! If we're having a girl, Rose is a high contender for the middle name. Only 10 days to wait now until we find out! Who was it that was my scan buddy and was asking about the time? I have no memory anymore... My scan is at 9:30am, so nice and early. But before that I have my 16 week MW appointment next Monday, where hopefully she'll use the doppler!

How about May the Fourteen be with us, for the thread? Wink

mumof2aimingfor4 · 10/12/2013 20:13

spirael im your scan buddy :) I have my 16 week appt on Friday (not impressed as its the 13th).

OH has been fantastic and waiting on me constantly, hes taken time off work to help me with my work, bless him. I've never seen him as scared as I did yesterday, but found out today his fear was for me, whereas mine was for the baby.

Sorry to everyone who has had bad news recently. I had my 20 week scan yesterday but didn't find out the sex.
Also had a glucose tolerance test. I'm not sure if other people expect this but I felt so ill during the test and actually ended up fainting! I wish I had known that I might feel like that - was pretty upsetting.
Here's to more good news

Xavielli · 10/12/2013 21:03

Pysnl - sorry to hear that re:GTT :( i thought most places did the test @ 28 weeks? Hope you feel ok now

moominleigh94 · 10/12/2013 21:48

My GTT is at 25-ish weeks psynl - is it really horrible? Sad sorry to hear you had a bad experience. not looking forwards to mine! January 15th... first thing in the morning thankfully.

Elastigrrrl · 10/12/2013 22:38

Does everyone have to get a glucose tolerance test, or is it just if they have some reason to suspect you are glucose intolerant? If so, what would such a reason be? This is the first I've heard of it!

Xavielli · 10/12/2013 22:41

Reasons for a GTT are usually; family history of diabetes, high BMI, a bump/baby that measures more than 2 weeks ahead for dates.

Xavielli · 10/12/2013 22:42

I have to have one this time as I'm a big fat fatty - never had one with any of the others.

moominleigh94 · 10/12/2013 22:52

I've got to have one because of family history of diabetes including mum having gestational diabetes Sad same with blood pressure - because my mum had pre-eclampsia, I've got to have blood pressure checks every two weeks.

Mine is usually 130/70 every single time but it's been dropping lately :( last time I checked (weekend) it was 102/64, explains the dizzy spells, headaches and nearly fainting every time I stand up!

moominleigh94 · 10/12/2013 22:54

Meant to add thankfully it's not low enough to be considered "low blood pressure"... but every time it's been checked, it's dropped Sad

AlyssInAManger · 10/12/2013 23:02

I had the surgery and mainly it went fine, there were a couple of minor hiccups though. I'm absolutely exhausted now so I'll write about it more tomorrow.

ThistletoeAndWine · 11/12/2013 01:06

Moomin if your bp is dropping, have they checked your iron levels too? Sometimes low bp and dizziness is a sign of anemia!

Glad your op went well Alyss :-)

A year ago today I found out I had a mmc, today I'm also 19+0 having my miracle bean!! So I'm wide awake with shit loads going on in my head! I was admitted to hospital on 13th and on the 14th had d and c!! If it wasn't for that bean I wouldn't be here now!!Hmm

psynl · 11/12/2013 02:40

I have to repeat the GTT at 28 and 36 weeks. It started off ok - the sugary drink wasn't too bad at first but it sits uneasily on an empty stomach. I was about half way through when I started to feel ill - hot, sweaty, tunnel vision, whooshing in my ears etc.

I made the mistake of going on my own so definitely take someone with you. Take something to eat immediately after and I wouldn't advise driving after. I've never fainted before was not expecting it!

McBaby · 11/12/2013 08:02

I have a GTT because I have poly cystic ovaries. I had it last time and not eating was a pain but no other issues with the test.

Another one with low BP it's around 90/50 if I am pregnAnt or not.drinking more water and salty food is supposed to help keep it up but I find i just get fuzzy when standing occasionally.

I have 20 week scan on Friday starting to get a bit nervous about it.

loopylou52 · 11/12/2013 08:17

Such a bittersweet day for you thistle. Take care Thanks

loopylou52 · 11/12/2013 08:18

Hope you're feeling better psynl, sounds horrible!

moominleigh94 · 11/12/2013 09:17

Take care today thistle

Off to the doctors in a bit.

ThistletoeAndWine · 11/12/2013 10:11

How do you know if you have Braxton hicks?

randdom · 11/12/2013 11:16

Does anyone feel that they are getting generally anxious. There is nothing in particular that I am stressed about but I have this sense that something isn't right with me or the baby I can't put my finger on it. I'm not generally an anxious person so this is really strange...

MrsFooCough · 11/12/2013 11:22

Oh Thistle I forget that not everyone here is a first timer, some people have History with a capital H. Be good to yourself xxxx

And Squiffie I'm not finding out the sex either! Unless of course Bean is just as much of an exhibitionist as I am and just shows us everything Xmas Wink I thought we might be in the minority of not finding out the sex, but DH is convinced it'll be some kind of bad luck I think...poor thing, he keeps waking up from nightmares mumbling "don't let aspartame get to Bean" and other such crazy ramblings!

I second third fourth whatever number we're on with the May the force... thread name. Huge Star Wars geek here, DH too. And the force had better be with us now!

Fingers crossed for Alyss xxxxx

PixieBumbles · 11/12/2013 12:11

I haven't checked in here for absolutely ages so am just catching up. What a rollercoaster ride this thread has been Sad.

Alyss I have everything crossed for you and your twins. mumof2 glad things seem to be ok and you're taking it nice and easy.

I have my scan tomorrow. Really hope baby's going to co-operate so we can find out the gender! Gut feeling is boy, although most of our friends have boys so the pressure's on to have a girl and redress the balance!

I think he knows I'm writing about him as I can feel a flurry of activity going on in there right now!
