hello bellies!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Salamander · 13/07/2006 14:54

spicy food Pink!!!

yes it truly sucks re: the work/home balance.
Eeny and I are pretty traditional and given the choice would rather have me working and her as a SAHM, but we know that unless our circumstances change dramatically that will be impossible without at the very least a part time job for her.
then the thing is, who looks after the wee-one while Eeny is working...
we have no family at hand...

ahh i shouldn't have got started on that!
perhaps i'll go and start a thread

eenywifemum · 13/07/2006 14:55

ooh Pink I want to try all those things... is it too early to be doing them at 33 weeks? I would LOVE it if Alexander came a couple of weeks early...

are the massages with clary sage oil perrinneal massages?

I totally agree about the SAHM issue. I think parents should be able to work if they want to but its wrong that we are almost FORCED to have both parents working... this a really modern development, traditionally SOMEONE has always had to raise children... I find it very frustrating. Sal and I would like me to be able to work part time if I want to but our priority has to be raising Alex. We dont have friends & family locally who can look after him while I work so I'd have to earn enough money to pay for childcare PLUS some more to make it worth while.

PinkTulips · 13/07/2006 14:57

right, í'm off to be a good mommy and take dd to the park while its sunny... screaming kids running everywhere.... shudder....

frodofitz · 13/07/2006 14:57

P.S Me and dh pretty much earn the same and however brilliant i thought my mat package at work was, it wasn't all that! I get 14 weeks full pay 6 weeks half pay and SMP and 8 weeks SMP. I would love to stay at home or reduce my hours but i just don't think i can. The wroking tax credits thing is supposed to help with childcare right? So not sure how much will need to pay out for private nursery???

The dilemma!

YellowFeathers · 13/07/2006 14:58

Don't think I'll be working for the next 4 years now.
I used to do sessional work but it won't be as easy now we've moved so I probably won't bother.

Cripes I haven't actually worked for 3 years now!

Salamander · 13/07/2006 14:58

And i'm off to loiter on street corners to raise a few bob

eenywifemum · 13/07/2006 14:59

god - I have to this week send in my mat allowance application form. nervous!

PinkTulips · 13/07/2006 15:00

you can use it for a gentle bump massage or a proper massage whichever you want, dilute a few drops of it in carrier oil. another one is rubbing the balls of your big toes quite deeply in a clockwise direction

33 weeks probably a bit early for all but the raspberry leaf though eeny

YellowFeathers · 13/07/2006 15:00

Get it sent quick Eeny.

You should get back pay for that as your entitled from 28 weeks.

Salamander · 13/07/2006 15:00

I think everyone here got theirs back ok Eeny

frodofitz · 13/07/2006 15:00

Pmsl Sal, don't let my dh catch you saying that, i think he already has idea's on where to drop me on a Friday night just in case things gets desperate!
Right defo have to go!

YellowFeathers · 13/07/2006 15:01

Forgot to add, I got a weeks back pay so that was an extra £100 on top.

eenywifemum · 13/07/2006 15:01

right I will try the tea and hold off on everything else for a few more weeks! I cant wait to try it all though!

bumpy car rides - I've heard that is good. There is a gravel road near us I plan on frequenting.

Salamander · 13/07/2006 15:04

apparently if you howl at the sky on a full moon with a basket on your head, that works too

eenywifemum · 13/07/2006 15:15

Right I am going for a while!! Must eat and clean... eat and clean... the never ending cycle!! Cant wait til baby arrives and brings some more into my days!

Salamander · 13/07/2006 15:17

that'll be the BABY eating
and
being cleaned
!!!!!

olivo · 13/07/2006 16:31

117 messages in an hour and a half?!?!?!

scary!!

sarahlou1uk · 13/07/2006 16:45

Flipping 'eck! You girls (and Sal) can't half natter. I only posted last night and came on thinking only a few would be on to find a new thread and over 100 messages on it! It's just taken me a good 30 mins to catch up!

Pink - not offended re sterilising. Mine is an old(ish) dishwasher and only has 3 settings - 40, 50 and 70 degrees. If I put the bottles on the hottest wash, I have to wait a good 2 hours for them! With sterilister, it only takes 8 minutes! Yellow - if it's you that's got the new dishwasher with baby program then I'm !

Eeny & Sal - glad you're back!

I'll add my location and name choice to the list and post after this one!

52 babies due!

sarahlou1uk · 13/07/2006 16:49

By the way, I've posted an ad on the sale board. For some reason, Boots gave me more than one voucher for the free huggies starter kit. I've had the freebies out - which were a pack of tissues, pack of nappies and an orange pouch thing to keep Nurofen sachets in - not very exciting. Anyway, if anyone wants the change bag it's theirs for the cost of postage!

olivo · 13/07/2006 16:52

eeny and sal - good to have you back

YF - lol at the sponge bath support

been to the midwife and for my anti-d this afternoon - to quote her I'm 'all baby' and its measuring quite big - yikes!

cot bed arrived last night so have started putting the baby's room together. also went to our local homeopathic chemist and got a couple of things for labour and then went and got some raspberry leaf tablets - not going to start taking them till next week, just in case!

janeggybee · 13/07/2006 16:56

olivo - hi i only hopped in today. what is the deal with raspberry leaf tablets???

OP posts:
sarahlou1uk · 13/07/2006 17:01

I don't know much about the tablets - I've always had the teabags. As long as you add some sugar, it's not a bad taste. I went 8 days over with ds and started drinking it on the 7th day over. I'm convinced this is what started me the next day - mind you, I did have about 12 cups in one day!!! Have bought them again for this time round but on packet says use after 35 weeks, but mw says after 37! Think I'll stick with 37 weeks because if I go into labour before then, I can't have a home water birth

Micku5 · 13/07/2006 17:14

Hi all.. can;t belive I go and have an afternoon nap and a new thread has started with over 100 messages. Meant to be doing some paperwork but was catching up instead (much more interesting)

Quick question.... which of the following three names do you all prefer. I thought we had settled on a name for the new baby but DH tells me he's still not to keen.

The names are Alia (Aliya), Maddison and Talia. For obvious reasons I am not taking this to the general board.

sarahlou1uk · 13/07/2006 17:25

Hi Micku5. I like Alia and Talia. I know at least 3 mums in this area who have named their baby Maddison, so that is why I have ruled that one out! (but don't let that put you off!)
