trix did your dream scare you?

Read that link melsy posted a while down about castor oil - I just did and although I may still try it it gives you some food for thought.

Poor little babies!! I am drawing a list up of everything I still need to buy - hopefully getting it all this weekend. Think I may need to include a fan for Alex in the house and his carseat.

No - even though in my dream I had this massive zigzag cut accross my stomach and I was asking to be stitched quick but for what ever reason they would not stitch me

I know in reality that would never ever happen. its just my mind working over time i suppose.

ouch trix! i've read that dreams like that are not uncommon in the final few weeks. I'm really energy zapped today today too and had some crampss but they've turned out to be a tummy upset

eeny - you're a brave girl offering to organise and motivate me! but if you have few spare hours and could pop over and do the washing, the ironing and the cleaning, it'd be great!

my priorities are my hospital bag and my birth plan - i have used lots of ideas from mnet to make a list for my bag but cant be bothered rooting through all the stuff I've bought to get it together - also, I havent bought any newborn clothes yet

i may have to steal a birth plan from here to adapt - still hoping to go ahead with a water birth but need to contact the senior midwife to see if they have a pool in all rooms - its a new thing here.

other than that, got all the babys thinmgs to sort out, curtains to iron and put up in the nursery, letter to write to complain about nursery shutting down (cant just sit back and let it happen without voicing my opinion!!), several wedding acards to sort, as well as birthday presents - they can all have vouchers!.....have i bored you to death now?
will go and leave room on the thread for everyone else!!

Hey Olivo - we posted our BP here a while ago - geared towards a water-birth all being well.

Feel free to adapt!

Birth Plan for Mummy, Husband and Baby
EDD 1st September 2006

? I would like to have a water birth. I would prefer the baby to actually be born in the water.
? I understand that during a water birth gas and air is the only pain relief option for me.
? I am happy for a student midwife to be present during my labour and delivery although I would like a senior midwife experienced in water births to do the actual delivering.
? I would like the option to listen to a CD of my choice if I wish to.
? In the event of the baby being breech and a necessary transfer to St. John?s I would like to deliver him by caesarean with an epidural ? not a general anaesthetic if possible.
? I would like to touch the baby?s head as it crowns and if I have a hand mirror to try to see it as well.
? My husband would like to cut the umbilical cord after it has stopped pulsing.
? I would like to be present at the weighing, cleaning and Agpar of the baby.
? I would like vitamin K to be given to my baby via injection.
? I would appreciate it if a midwife would take a few pictures of me, my husband and baby after the birth.
? I would prefer not to use Oxytocin unless it is deemed necessary by the midwife.
? I would like for myself and my husband to be able to see and touch the placenta before it is removed.
? I would appreciate a midwife?s assistance with helping my baby breastfeed immediately after birth.
? I would like to stay with my husband and the baby overnight at WJC.

I understand that this expresses my wishes for the delivery, and that circumstances could necessitate a change. I feel very confident that the midwives at WJC can advise me if there are any complications that would mean an alteration to this plan. I would like to thank you in advance for helping me, my husband, and baby to have a birth experience that we will remember with happiness and love.

fantastic about arabicas little girl

good on you for writing to complain about the nursery shutting down olivo, have you found out about that other one yet?

ok, so i've looked everywhere for castor oil and can't find any! i've checked pharmacies, healthshops and supermarkets to no avail... that said i haven't asked anywhere as i can't face the knowing looks when i do

ooops trix, forgot to say i had a dream the other night that i wasn't pregnant anymore, i had been 2 mins before and i hadn't had the baby.. it had just disappeared, spent hours looking for him but couldn't find him anywhere and was convinced someone had stolen him out of me?! very wierd and freaked me out for the day.

mines alot less polite, lol. figured the less they have to read the less chance of them ignoring anything. was very polite last time and it didn't do me much good so....

Birth Plan

Labour ? 1st stage

? Would prefer to be mobile if at all possible.
? Please do not offer pain relief, I am aware it is available if I need it but would prefer not to avail of any. If I do need pain relief I will ask for gas and air.

Labour ? 2nd stage

? I will be delivering on my knees leaning against the head of the bed.
? An episiotomy is only to be performed as an absolute last resort and only after consulting me first.
? If an emergency c-section is necessary I would prefer epidural or spinal over general anaesthetic if possible.
? If possible I would like my baby handed directly to me for skin to skin contact and breastfeed.

Labour ? 3rd stage

? I do not want the injection to deliver the placenta, want a physiological third stage.

Postpartum

? Do not stitch for 1st degree tears, only second or third degree where absolutely necessary.
? Baby is not to be given Vitamin K injection.
? If labour proceeded normally without complications I wish to leave directly after the birth, not be transferred to maternity ward.

Hi all.

A big congratulations to Arabica
A boy and a girl, lovely

Can't quite remember all what I've just read but have read all your posts, honest!

Just a quickie to Luna, chaged my mind about waterbirth because I wasn't keen on the hospitals policies regarding them.

I ordered a TENS on Monday and it arrived Tuesday so I will be using that in a "home from home room" with lots of beans bags and a birthing ball.

Been to MW appt today. Baby is very low down apparently but is back to back . MW did assure me that he'll probably turn though.
I've been having some fantastic BH's and been getting a bit of period type pains too over the last 2/3 days so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm glad your all moaning about the heat. It is crap isn't it. Luckily our house stays really cool so I've been staying in mainly.

Bork at those of you trying Castor Oil

Wow that is SO wonderful about Arabica!!!!!! I hope her little girl is doing really really well!! I cant wait to hear!

Pink I like your BP!! You sound very confident, I admire that I have to admit I am fairly terrified of the medical professionals in this country sorry girls I do not in any way mean that as a thing against English people in general, its just been my experience!

Right - Olivo - first of all all you need to buy for newbord clothes are a packet of vests and a few babygros - you can get everything else after your little one is born. Do you feel like shopping?? (I ALWAYS feel like shopping!) If not then buy them on line and have them shipped to you!

Dont forget to delegate!! That is what husbands and partners are THERE for!! Seriously! ok I know they work and they help around the house etc. but rarely does a night go by when I dont ask Sal to do one thing, even if it is little, to take something off my list of things to do. I'm not lazy but I am pregnant and hot and I can barely walk these days. He is a man in the prime of life with more energy than I have!

This is what I do when I really can not get motivated - I set the kitchen timer for 10 minutes, and I do whatever needs to be done. (dishes, baby sorting etc) then I set it for 10 mins again and I faff around - post on MN, watch t.v, read, whatever I feel like. And so on and so forth usually for an hour when I've had enough.

Ironing curtains sounds like a nightmare. I dont think I could do it. But hanging them up - give it to your DH to do!! I'm not being sexist I know women are perfectly capable of doing it but wont you have to stand on a ladder?? You are heavily pregnant! It wont take him long to do it himself.

Oh dear I wish I could make a magic elf come do all this stuff for all of us!! I am just as bad - tomorrow I will be freaking out over everything that has to be done before my neices arrive.

Trix - I agree your mind is going overboard about anxieties. I am the same way... 2 weird pregnancy dreams I have had - one I dreamt that when I was 20 weeks pregnant with Alex I accidentally got pregnant AGAIN with a second baby so all in all I would be pregnant for 60 weeks and have 2 babies only 20 weeks apart. I was devastated Sal and I could be so irresponsible!

The other was I gave birth to a boy - but he was a kitten! But i still loved him and breastfed him!

thanks for the birth plan ideas guys - will do a bit of, ahem, cutting and pasting this evening .
you're right eeny, i must ask dh to do more, he working late to night but the kitchen floor is his for definite . as for shopping, cant get in behind my steering wheel any more so will wait till next week when dh is off work to be shipped into town, or even this weekend if the weather is crap, as it is threatening to be (but I'll believe it when i see it!!)

have started my letter to complain about the nursery closing- its not to the nursery but to the people who withdraw funding support etc. we are on waiting list at the other one, they've unofficially said there shouldnt be a problem but wont know till after christmas.

feeling much more like I've done a thing or two now! thanks!

eeny - lol at breastfeeding kittens

Fantastic news about Arabica and her baby girl ah bless hope everything goes ok for them both!

Lol Yellow I read your post as Arabica giving birth to a boy and a girl today! DERRR! Got me all confused ha!

Pucca it was me asking about the BH's as not had one yet. Heard few mums on here say they didnt have them first time round so maybe I'll be the same. Am gagging to know what they feel like though? Oh glad you got your pool sorted out too.

Defo think Dreamy is a supermom, really envious of you having 6 kids, both of my nan's had large families and there was never a dull moment in the house so can just imagine its never quiet at your place? Would love to have 3 or 4 kids but DH seems to be set on 2 (we'll soon see about that!)

Does anybody wake up with pins n needles in their hands? Keep having it and think it could be carpal tunnel syndrome? Apparently its a sympton of pg due to swelling and my hands have been feeling very tight and sausages for fingers lol!

Have been nesting again today and went for another swim to see if anything would happen? I can feel baby's head getting right down there now. But not experiencing anymore of those period type cramp, may put extra chilly powder in the chicken tonight and see if DH will be up for a bit of rumpy pumpy! Cant be doing with this heat now, its becoming a joke! Am alkso getting bad heartburn again which I hadnt had for a few weeks did somebody say this was a sign?

Hope everyone ok and always wondering who's going to be next. We still havent heard from Aussiemama and Snow yet have we? How exciting!

lol BHM

Just so you know, the only way I could describe a BH is your bump going incredibly tight like someone is wrapping something very tightly around you and you can feel it tingling or tightening at the top of your legs too (well I do).
You'll certainly know when you have one

I've also started waking at certain times now in the night. Is anyone else getting this? Would be interesting to see if this is when baby does actually wake for feeds.

Dh has got his sleepover shifts covered from now till when baby arrives just in case, so I feel a bit better about that.

Also decided yesterday that I'm going to buy my xmas cards and wrapping paper and also get bits of presents from now on so that I don't have a mammoth xmas shop to do come December.

Oh Sarahlou, hope baby turns for you. Have they said how long they will give you until baby turns?

Congrats arabica!!!!! xxxx

YF - hmm, I havne't even been in contact with the hospital, but was considering a waterbirth simply because of the heat... HMM.

Argh, all this talk of bowels emptying before birth. Mine just did... I'm terrified now it may be the start of something! I don't want it to be for a week and a day! I can't afford it work wise lol!!!! I don't usually get squits as I'm on those pregaday tablets, so I'm rather worried now. Argh! At least I now KNOW I don't want it early - like at the 12 week scan I thought I saw twins - after nearly falling off the bed I really realised I didn't! (sorry pf2 I know others feel different )

However no tightnings, BH or otherwise, so I may just be talking about poo for nothing

Hi everyone. I had a very weird dream last night. I was pregnant and started in labour. Everything going ok, no pain. I then had an urge to cough and baby flew out!!! When mw weighed her she came back at 15lb 11oz!!! I wouldn't mind a labour like that, but the weight - NO THANK YOU!

Going for scan tomorrow to find out how dd is lying. Hope the little b*gger is head down. Don't fancy a cs or manipulating. Will let you know what they say when I get back. Thanks for encouraging messages. I know she's still got 3 weeks to turn if she is breech, but you know how the medical profession panic. Anyway, going to go now to bounce on my ball then spend 1/2 hour on all fours .

booby I am so glad your MW is so supportive! When will you get the final answer on the section?

Pink I like the induction link! Thanks!

sarahlou I am SO hoping your baby gets in a good position!! She has kept you wondering long enough! Let us know as soon as you can!

Yellow I am waking all night long really so I HOPE Alex isnt up that much!! But I've heard their sleep patterns in the last month are pretty much what they will be after birth.

Luna - I hope something is happening for you hon but if not, we dont mind hearing about poo!

dreamy - glad you got your crib Its nice getting everything sorted isnt it?

BHM - dont worry I'm not getting the BH either although I wish I were!

I am not in a very good mood right now I feel so sick to my stomach and just generally annoyed for very little reason. I know I have loads to do tomorrow and I dont want to do anything but really I wish Sal didnt have to work tomorrow, I want his company. I know he has to but I wish he didnt.

delighted your mw is being so supportive booby. drink tonnes of water as apparently dehydration makes the BHs worse.

am attempting cumin tea at the minute [vomit emoticon] the smell is awful so seriously doubt i'll get it down me but worth a try. going to try the evening primrose oil too tomorrow. starting to go off the castor oil idea as apparently it can make you vomit alot too and was quite sick anyway with dd so mightbe best not to make that worse or i won't be able to zone out. god i sound obsessed but i'm so uncomfortable i need to get this child out!
