OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
purpleturtle · 13/07/2006 18:42

How has this happened?!

There are 126 messages on this thread already, and I've only just finished reading the last one. Haven't got time to catch up - have to get the children out of the bath and into bed, then I'm off out this evening to play around with a make-up range a friend's using for her new business . Not so bothered about the make-up really, but it involves wine and nibbles.

olivo · 13/07/2006 19:28

Hi Janeggybee and welcome . the raspberry leaf tablets are instead of raspberry leaf tea, supposed to (eventually) bring on labour, so I've heard.

Micku - I like Talia best.

dh is really irritating me tonight, i'm just too tired - going to try and escape to the bath with a decent book!

bigroundbelly · 13/07/2006 20:02

hey ho. i may try the leaf tea / tablets. i have heard that it dosent actually induce labour but it tones the muscles of the uterus in order to make it more efficient at contracting.

bigroundbelly · 13/07/2006 20:04

I didn't introduce myself - I am due August 21st. Hope you don't mind me butting in.

dreamydowler · 13/07/2006 20:23

53 babies due!

lunavix · 13/07/2006 20:30

hi to all newbies!!!! Can't believe we are still growing!

eeny - am I correct in believing you are the opposite side of the M25 to me? Was just wondering how close you are cos I'd suggest a meet up for a natter etc if you are feeling lonely ... although with neither of us driving the motorway could prove a hurdle

Maybe we'll all have to do the msn thing...

I'm feeling better... the second ds got back from swimming with his granny I asked if he wanted train (thomas the tank engine dvd) so he prompty forgot about granny i don't think I could have coped with him crying 'No Mummy, Granny' so even though I tricked him a bit at least I feel better than I would have done! Have had a nice afternoon too - rather productive cleaning wise, astonishingly.

The job front is so hard isn't it. Before we had ds, we were earning a nice amount between us, but it soon panned out that my job wouldn't pay for the nursery fees on the only reputable local nursery, much less anything else. Working tax credits, for what it's worth, pay up to 70% per child of your childcare fees, 70% tending to be more single parents, and it goes drastically down if there's two of you....

So I decided to retrain (in childcare) and someone suggested childminding - and thank god they did, else I think I'd still be doing nights at Tescos. It took quite a while to set up, so I had the first 7 months with ds alone, then I had the following 5 working nights at Tesco... then by the time he was one I started taking on kids... and wouldn't look back. I know it's not for everyone but I personally couldn't go down the nights route, it's a killer with a small baby/medium toddler.

PinkTulips · 13/07/2006 22:13

micku - i like talia best too

hello bigroundbelly, can't believe this group is still growing!

is anyone really sad at the thought of us being in up to three differant post-natal groups? i mean arabica and possibly others will have babies in july, a chunk of us in august and some due at the end of aug might go overdue into sept... really don't want this group to split up we all get on so well!

dressedupnowheretogo · 13/07/2006 22:19

hi im back well round belly
i like talia best know lots of maddisons

im now measuring same as dates mw sYS NO REASON WHY SHOULDNT GET CSECTION SO LOOKING FORWARD NOW TO SEEING CONSULTANT MONDAY ooh sorry for caps

eeny did you get my email chick

found out my friend will be having her section on 27/7 so they will be approx 2 week between our girls which is nice

dressedupnowheretogo · 13/07/2006 22:20

i meant hello big round belly to the group

lunavix · 13/07/2006 22:26

PT - I imagine we can cling together as a postnatal group A few of our members aren't even due in August anyways so it should be that different

I feel the need to bow out of the breastfeeding thread... I don't usually post on ones that are likely to go 'off on one' but I felt the need this time... sadly my comment about them being a bunch of militant nazis hasn't gone down too well apparently...

I'm not usually that outspoken lol! I blame the hormones

lunavix · 13/07/2006 22:27

oops

militant bullies not nazis! Where did I pull that one from!!

dressedupnowheretogo · 13/07/2006 22:30

lol lunavix

PinkTulips · 13/07/2006 22:32

luna - i haven't even bothered posting on that one, their all so far up their own asses they're not even taking in whats being posted. good for you for trying though

eenywifemum · 13/07/2006 23:39

Luna - the nazis must have been a freudian slip! Salamander says (I am TERRIBLE with directions etc) that you have to cross Hertfordshire - he said Cambridge would be a halfway point between us, roughly. But god knows how either of us would get there as neither of us drives! agh! I'd love to get together though if it were possible.

Pink I agree, I really dont want us all to be split up as a postnatal group. If Alex is born in Sept... well I dont know any of the mums due in Sept. If we wanted to join the other postnatal groups thats obviously fine but couldnt we start one of our own - the August 2006 thread group or something??? It would be a shame to lose touch with people we've become close to.

Sarahlou, love your name choice!

Olivo have you had fun with your cotbed?? I didnt get our mattress today so I have to stay in again tomorrow to wait for the delivery.

Micku - Dont want to confuse matters but I quite like Alia. It is very similar to the middle name Sal and I had chosen if we were having a girl, Alida, which is hungarian for little bird. I like the flow to it.

purple - wine and nibbles... mmmm sounds sooo good! Sal is under strict instructions to have lots of champagne and camembert ready for me as soon as the baby comes! But I've had the odd glass of wine now & I'd love one now!

welcome bigroundbelly! we could probably all share your name right now!

booby I did get your email & I wrote you back - have you had mine? If not let me know and I will know for sure there is a problem with my email account.

Sorry for such a long post!! As always there is loads to catch up on!

Arabica · 14/07/2006 00:09

Hello new threaders! I've been in the shopping centre hammering the credit cards. Bought a new sofa and armchair, a fridge freezer and some baby bits; changing mat, in-ear thermometer, muslin squaress, washable breast pads. And got a bra...size (are you ready for this...........36H!)So, didn't quite get to the L cup but pretty impressive. And it's black lace. Changing room had hideous mirrors which meant you got a 360 degree view. Looked absolutely effing enormous, yuck!
Anyway, micku5, I think Alia is the nicest name.

Arabica · 14/07/2006 00:10

Meant to add, yes, let's stay in touch. I may well be first due but by the time I come out of hospital there will be more of us to have 'graduated'--at least I hope so!

53 babies due!

lunavix · 14/07/2006 06:09

Blimey! I do NOT get up this early!!!

Woke up 15min ago for a morning wee, and heard ds crying - he was trying to climb back into bed. No idea if he fell out (though I don't think a bang woke me up) or if he dropped a toy and got out and grabbed it.. either way he was rather upset. A big cuddle later and I asked him if he wanted to get into bed with me... but he's lost his numny so we had to go downstairs to get one... and now he's ended up watching chicken little!

I don't usually get up till 7.45am.. and I start work at 8.15 I have no idea what to do with myself this early!

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 08:18

good morning lunar if you're still there awww hope your ds wasnt too upset. I was woken in the middle of the night with cramp in the back of my leg and on the sole of my foot does anyone else get this also any suggestions for heartburn Ive tried every product there is and cant stand milk

muminaquandary · 14/07/2006 09:16

no ideas re heartburn but have been getting terrible cramp - don't know how to prevent it but can solve it by getting DH to rub muscles (not massage), and pointing toes upwards, also try to avoid ever stretching foot & toe downwards

HTH

muminaquandary · 14/07/2006 09:25

BTW, how is everyone's pgnancy comparing to the last one? This time I am NOT:

  • sex mad
  • craving Guinness
  • eating for 2
  • anaemic
  • have not (yet) put on 5 stone (from 9st to 14st ... eeek!!)

This time I:

  • had the same morning sickness (diarhhea & bubbly tummy for 20 weeks)
  • am measuring big for dates (but not AS big as last time)
  • have SPD (again)
  • cramps (again)
  • was very weepy wks 28-32 (now 33 & doing fine)
  • not v hungry

Let's see how the births / babies compare to last time to those of us who are on nos 2,3 etc (dreamy dowler no 6, is that right?)

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 09:40

number 7 actually and I reckon Ive felt sicker with this one than any of the others. Not sure if Ive put any weight on just filled out the rolls of flab that was already there. I get really bad heartburn every time and as for getting my other half to massage my leg in the midst of night I have no chance when he sleeps he dies

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 09:45

Ive been sex mad too although other half not very obliging Im 33 weeks but according to midwife yesterday am measuring nearly 36 I have had to go for 2 gtt tests but although I keep getting sugar in my urine they are thankfuly within normal range last baby was 9lb 1oz so just hope this one has a long enough trunk to be pulled out. I have to have a hospitalbirth as I was found to have group b strep last pregnancy so I have to be hooked up to antibiotics and baby monitered for 2 days after Is this your second?

muminaquandary · 14/07/2006 10:11

yes this is no2 - no1 was 10lbs5 so they have suggested c/section this time which I am happy with

my granny had 7 ... my mum (no 1) was the smallest and the rest of them just kept getting bigger (they stole all the pies off her, she was too small to stick up for herself!!)

I have a friend here who has 6, 3 boys, 3 girls, from 3 to 18. They are really lovely children. Irony is that she is an obs & gynea surgeon!!!
