Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
eenywifemum · 26/07/2006 16:36

hi all!

BHM sorry nothing came of what you were experiencing last night - I would have thought it was labour too!! Maybe it will be soon though! Could still be a good sign!

Sarahlou - I am REALLY hoping your DD is behaving herself and gets in the right position!! I have to say when I was worried Alex would be breech I didnt want them to try manually moving him I just wanted a section.

sarahlou1uk · 26/07/2006 17:01

Eeny - have thought about cs but don't like the idea of being laid up for 2 days. Plus worse for ds as he has never had to sleep without me in the next room. He's what we call a mummy's boy! If worse comes to the worse however, would rather have a cs than dd be manipulated and then me be induced. Due to reoccuring back problem, I can't lie on my back for long periods of time. Being induced would mean being strapped to a monitor, drip in arm and bed bound. Also, don't really want a catheter as many of my other friends have experienced bladder infections afterwards.

hi girlies Im home kids had a lovely day took dd age 3 to toddler group and ds age 8 to morning playscheme followed by trampolining lesson ds age 13 and dd age 15 played table tennis and badminton then we all met up for swim this afternoon. In case youre wondering no we are not a fit freak family more loike couch potatoes trying to get fit over summer and as our council provides a lot for free its a good chance to get kids out. Im still getting really strong braxton hicks which with 5 weeks to go is early but i have been measuring big for dates all the way through so my body probabloy thinks its term Im glad everyone is hanging on in there. I know this heat really does seem to be getting us all down it seems a little cooler here tonight but its supposed to be another scorcher again tomorrow Hope all goes well with cs tomorrow arabica good luck and let us know you and babe are ok just as soon as

PinkTulips · 26/07/2006 18:26

well my gp has just confirmed it, baba is 8lbs plus, or as doc put it 'big for a baby, small for a turkey'!. on the plus side he seemed very dubious about me making it to my next appointment so thats good.

sarahlou, sorry baby is being awkward, hopefully though your mw is just being a bit useless and she is head down.

dreamy, you've just made me feel even worse for sitting on my ass all day... how in gods name do you have the energy for all that

hows your head eeny?

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 18:35

seems to be quite a few of us expecting big babies. I have taken the easy option believe me I can either sit and watch them being entertained by other people all day then have a nice dip in the pool or put up with them all killing each other at home and the usual can I haves all day long. Picnic in the park tomorrow dd age 16 is being dragged along to push dd age 3 on swings then swim again in afternoon

PinkTulips · 26/07/2006 18:38

dreamy, you've had most of your naturally (no pain relief) haven't you? are the bigger ones much worse or is the rumour true that big babies hurt less? dd was average 7lbs4ozs and i managed fine without anything but just want to know what to expect pain wise this time.

purpleturtle · 26/07/2006 18:51

Today I have managed to collect a birthing pool - from the hospital! They're going to have to track down the one they told me to collect yesterday. At least it's their problem.

The system here is that you collect the pool from the woman who had it last - and that's just how it works, so I guess you tacitly agree to your number being given out once for that purpose. Shame for the poor woman who'll have to wait for mine - might be a good 4 weeks yet! But I think they book them with plenty of time in between to allow for people like me.

Last aquanatal session before the summer break today, which means last one ever for me. Stupid jobsworths at the pool decided to implement a ruling whereby we weren't allowed through to even get changed until our session was due to start. The management committee can't see that a 15 min changeover between a toddler swim session, open to men, and a women only aquanatal just isn't long enough. I ranted for the 15 minutes they kept me waiting. Then the class after us were all standing poolside waiting for us to finish well before their session is due to start . One rule for us, apparently...

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 18:53

I think it depends on your pain threshold as opposed to size of baby and how relaxed you are I wasnt aware last baby was going to be big and she didnt give me any pain really at all apart from the usual transition I cant stand this anymore stage which usually lasts about five minutes or so before I start pushing the head didnt feel any different and she was 9lb 1oz My sisters little boy was born 2 weeks ago at home and even though she is a squeemish person and normally has pain relief she had an hour 20 min birth with no pain relief or stitches and he was 9lb 12oz Im sure its because she was more relaxed this time he was her third by the way.

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 18:57

Its always so infuriating when that happens and down right rude too purple must have seemed strange to have finished your lessons today it all seems so very imminent for us all now cant believe we are nearly into august already

aprilgirl1 · 26/07/2006 19:04

hey glad everyone is hanging in there, was at midwife yesterday and she has scared the shit out of me.... told me the position baby is in ( back to back) and the fact the head is not near engaged as it is slightly transverse to expect to go 2 weeks over and to expect AT LEAST a 16 hour labour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
been getting quite a few niggles im just hoping she is wrong!! she couldnt measure my bump[ propley as the little bugger has wedged its self in my ribs!! any ideas on how to get it to move down, midwife suggested pinapple and rasberry tea leaf tablets so have started on them today, my friend is a reflexologist and i am going to see if she fancies having a go trying to get this baby to come and meet me!! im fed up now big style the weather is killing me any one else fancy doing a rain dance for tomorrow?????

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 19:43

its really annoying that these midwives are predicting births. Yes It can take a long time and can produce back ache in labour but baby could turn tonight tomorrow the next day my sisters baby was lying oblique diaganonally anotherwords until about 2 weeks before due date and he moved try not to worry too much anything can happen and if baby stays back to back kneeling on all fours and rotating your hips helps even in labour as it takes the pressure off your back there is always an epidural too

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/07/2006 21:39

my friend had a lil girl at 10 37 this morning she took castor oil at half our yesterday morning so it does work

she also had a section coz she gotr stuck @ 8 ands half cms

so it has made my mind up 100 re my section as ive seen for myself wot it like after

good luck arabica for tomorrow

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 21:40

where are you all this evening is the heat keeping you all under water??

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/07/2006 21:49

im sat at pc in a sarong and a maternity bra

going to have a clod shower in a minute

  • i have something terrible to confess i smoked a cigrette today a whole one and i thoroughly enjoyed it

please dont hate me its the first one ive had since the 16th of december and now i feel really bad

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 21:52

congratulations to your friend booby so have you decided against or for a c section?

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/07/2006 21:55

totally for 100% she looked really w ell and she did 16hrs labour and a section and said worst of it was epidural and that was five minutes

PinkTulips · 26/07/2006 22:04

god these mw's predicting labour are annoying aren't they?!

booby, i've been known to steal a drag from dp and my dad on more than one occasion in the 2 years i've beeen preg and bfing and i firmly believe it's the only rason i haven't gone completely mad from the cravings and started smoking again.

thanks dreamy, thats good to know. i'm quite calm and relaxed during labour and well able to zone out so hopefully it won't be much differant with a bigger baby, at least everything down below has been stretched recently enough that it should take less tearing this time to get baba out!

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/07/2006 22:07

thanks pink felt terrible about the fag

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 22:12

dont beat yourself up over it really Im sure we have all done something stupid in our time got too stressed out ate something we shouldnt drank alcohol etc it was only one

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 22:17

I tore slightly with my first but not with any of the others I think you will be fine

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/07/2006 22:20

i know but im so self rightous about this even told my sil what do u expect after saying hers were onlly 6and half and seven pound two weeks over due at birth and smoking 20 a day

dreamydowler · 26/07/2006 22:21

hehehehe I saqid that about being stretched recently when my normally size 12 sister gave birth to her third child 2 weeks ago at home with no pain relief or stitches and he was 9lb 12oz I said that I am no longer concerned about the fact that mine is a big baby after having 6 already Im sure I could push twins out side by side no problem

PinkTulips · 26/07/2006 22:23

like dreamy said, we all let the odd thing slip by we know we shouldn't... one isn't going to damage baby and it's not like your going to have any more so don't beat yourself up.

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/07/2006 22:23

why does everyone i know insist on giving me the gory details re birth 2 and a half hours my mil and sil went on and mil is on my birth phobia secret its the last thing i want to hear
