Ladies I think we need a new festive thread to take us through to the end of the year. And as it will be me to sneeze next –how did it get around to my turn so quickly???-- I thought I would do the honours.

Definitely going cloth Boo. I have discovered the nappy lady, and she had put together a few suggestions. Think in going to hire a newborn kit from her, then when fin is a but bigger, go for teddy nappies with a wrap. I love a bit of organisation [tchwink]

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 02/12/2013 21:29

You might love a bit of organisation but you need to sort out your Santa smilies Xmas Wink

NoMaybeAboutIt · 02/12/2013 21:33

They've changed!! Oh what a plonker!! Xmas Blush

Fox82 · 02/12/2013 21:37

Sounds like the twins are great weights sweetie! And great you've got everything sorted with the elcs

Congratulations on your niece little!

You sound very organised maybe! Can't believe you're 24 weeks already!!

Love the scan pics solars!

Poogate sounds eventful keep Grin Great news on getting her registered.

Thanks for the advice maybe and sweetie - I got the flu jab done this afternoon!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 02/12/2013 22:03

Ah, good news Fox! How are you feeling pregnancy wise?

Fox82 · 02/12/2013 22:24

I'm feeling ok thanks maybe. I kind of wish I was feeling worse as then I'd believe it was real (I do realise how stupid and naive that sounds) Xmas Blush Been feeling tired and a bit queasy at times, but feel as though I'm just symptom spotting. Oh and sore boobs too, but that's about it really. How's your back and hips? And are you doing ok being off the meds?

Solars · 02/12/2013 22:29

Oh wow Sweetie that's excellent you've got a date now, so that's almost 2 weeks before you meet them now and they're such good weights! Can't wait!

Keep yes it was the 3D scan and I've put a pic up on the FB group. I have an appointment tomorrow with the cardiologist so will go over my ECG with him, but as far as I could tell, the person who carried it out seemed to think all was ok, so hopefully tomorrow is just a formality.

Maybe you've put me shame! I'm not in the least bit ready but hopefully by the end of this week we'll have got most things sorted. I'm thinking of cloth nappies too but I've been advised by a few people to wait a few weeks after the baby is born and settled a bit before I start using them so will start off with the disposables first.

Congrats on your niece Little

Well done sorting out your flu jab Fox I need to sort out my whooping cough within the next few weeks.

Right off to bed for me...

musicalmrs · 02/12/2013 23:54

Definitely think about waiting for at least a few days (maybe a week oro so) before heading to cloth Maybe and Solars - those first few incredible poos can stain pretty cloth nappies forever!

Huge fan of cloth nappies here. Asides from the fact they're pretty, we've also saved a ridiculous amount (ours are birth to potty). I love a bargain me...

Glad today went well Sweetie. Your eviction date is so close - how exciting!

Solars, your 3D scan picture was amazing!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/12/2013 06:18

Solars, no shame!! I'm just OTT organised Xmas Wink good luck with the consultant today.

I'm glad you're feeling so well Fox! That's definitely a good thing. When do you have your booking in appointment?

Thanks Musical. The ones I'm hiring for newborn say not to worry about the staining as apparently they can get the stains out when you send them back. I will use disposables in the hospital, but am planning on starting from when we bring her home. There are so many out there to choose from, how did you decide??!! Are you feeling better now?

keepitgoing · 03/12/2013 11:00

maybe we are on disposables for now, but I intend to hire a trial kit for the new year before making a decision.

fox I seem to remember maybe saying the same thing, then look what happened. Try and enjoy.

musicalmrs · 03/12/2013 11:40

Oh that's clever Maybe-they must have some super powerful detergent or something! is it a local thing? May have to pick your brains if/when there's another on the way Smile
I got a starter pack from the county council when we were pg, and DH and I tried out the different types they sent on teddies Grin he decided he liked the poppers, and shaped inserts (so we didn't have to fold soakers or anything). We also knew we wanted a birth to potty if possible. I used that and Purple's advice, and eventually found myself obsessed with the bitti tuttos!

We've been really pleased with them - even DH who was a bit skeptical at first now raves about them Grin we've also converted a few friends who use them too! They're also still all in great condition 18 months on, so can easily be used for a second child!

Making a decision on what you're going to get quite early on is handy as you can then wait and get them cheap in the sales, which we managed to so Grin some sites also do trials where you can borrow lots of varying types for a little while, try them all out and then return them - although those schemes are probably better once you have a newborn to try them out on Wink

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/12/2013 12:07

Ooh, thanks Musical!! Which council? I couldn't find anything when I looked. This is the Nappy Lady website, it's amazing!! Though I think a local nappy library has just been set up too which is good!! Who new you could get so excited about cloth nappies and reusable wipes Xmas Wink. We really must arrange that meet up!

Keep don't tell Fox that Xmas Grin. I felt sick around 7 weeks, but the HG didn't kick in till around 10 weeks properly. Though I can honestly say that it is much better this last fortnight. I still get off days, and it's way worse when I'm tired or stressed. But it's good!

I've had to have a mince pie and a cuppa. 3 hours sleep needs to be supplemented by festive goodies. I wish there was a festive pie smilie.

We seem to be missing a few brookers. Hope you're ok Trix, Stacks, Pen and Too

ThedementedPenguin · 03/12/2013 12:31

Everything's fine here. Nothing to report.

Ds' rash seems to slowly be disappearing. It's still very obvious but I can tell it's faded a bit. So hopefully won't be too long.

Although the temper he has is unbelievable I think the terrible twos has started early. Xmas Sad

Have nearly finished all my Christmas shopping. Although still have ds to buy for and I haven't a clue what to get him. Good thing he's so young he won't know.

sweetie great news on the eviction date. Can't wait to hear about the new arrivals. Won't be long.

How's everyone?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/12/2013 13:19

Everything fine here too - sorry I've been AWOL. Booking in appt tomorrow at 9, so it might finally start to feel a bit real! I told a few people at the weekend - my mum, stepdad and sister. DH told his parents and his brother. I tried to phone Dad but he was being v elusive, so I rang a pg friend instead and told her - wound up being on the phone for an hour and 40 minutes! Xmas Blush Mum was soooo excited. Xmas Grin

Sweetie, oooh, the 16th is so close! Excitement!

Maybe, hope someone can help with the hips/back. Have you told your MW?

Solars, also loved the 3D pic!

cartoontrickster · 03/12/2013 14:01

nowt much going on here either. I've read back throughout morning so of course have forgotten all now!
sweetie how exciting to have a date you can tick off the days now, not long!
glad ds's rash is a little better pen
too did u get an early scan?
keep sounds like you've settled right in to motherhood.
I've been stressing myself about getting everything ready in time. had the worst nights sleep because my mind was just swimming.
sooo many baby bits to wash and iron, I rarely iron our bits, but I want treats to look perfect. then there's Xmas, freezer meals to make and hospital bag to pack as well ad getting the nursery straight and usual chores. I just feel a bit daunted. Christ I need to chill about house work before treats arrives. I'm paranoid treats will be born at new year so I'm pushing myself to get everything done before Xmas.
on the plus side I've got the Moses basket and the cot was delivered yesterday so dh just needs to build it.

cartoontrickster · 03/12/2013 14:11

do I need to wash comforters and soft toys?

keepitgoing · 03/12/2013 14:51

Grin at ironing treats' clothes.... trix I don't know what you mean by a comforter, you're not supposed to use a duvet. But yes, wash blankets. Soft toys tbh they won't be interested in for a good while anyway. We've been given a few, but you know staring at the pattern in the curtain, or at the trees is much more interesting! :) Don't fret, you'll be fine.

keepitgoing · 03/12/2013 14:53

Ps if you can afford it then get a cleaner! Sooo worth it, and for the price of a meal out I don't need to worry.

Oops, feeding time. Off to the milking parlour for the millionth time I did actually manage a nap this morning though!

too so glad all is ok.

cartoontrickster · 03/12/2013 14:59

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+-cow-comforter-in-soft-toys-and-comforters+b3459
thats the sort of comforter I mean. not an American duvet Grin .
I'd sooo love a cleaner, I've mentioned it to dh a few times but I need to work on him a little bit more Wink .
are you breast feeding keep?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/12/2013 15:13

Grin Keep!! How many times you being milked a day?!

I don't think you'll need to wash that Trix. Are you really going to iron all the baby clothes? Even baby grows and the like? You're a better woman than me Xmas Wink

So pleased all is ok Too. Good luck with the MW tomorrow. Glad everyone was happy Xmas Smile

Glad DS is on the mend Pen. Did you decide whether or not you were going to go for a private scan?

cartoontrickster · 03/12/2013 15:17

yes maybe I started out ironing scratch mitts and socks too! but soon got fed up. I am ironing the bibs though. perhaps I've gone mad Blush especially since I rarely iron my own clothes!

ThedementedPenguin · 03/12/2013 15:34

Ironing baby clothes.Xmas Shock that sounds nuts!

trix I didn't wash new clothes, teddies or comforters.
The one you have linked to is gorgeous. I feel a purchase coming on. Xmas Smile

maybe no still haven't decided. On day I want to book it, next I want to wait. Have an appointment on 17th Jan with consultant so might just wait until then and ask if they can tell. Although I'll probably change my mind a million times before then.

There's a place not far from me that done a private scan with my auntie and she said it was £60. So I at least know of a place close by just can't make my mind up.

Dp is now 100% certain it's a girl. I still don't have a clue although I don't mind.

keepitgoing · 03/12/2013 15:47

Yes, I am bf trix. Am going to try expressing and dh giving her a bottle tomorrow, so I can try and get a longer patch of sleep. At the moment feeds are every 2-3 hours, which according to nct is good going for her age. Yawn. BTW that is from the start of each feed to the next. So at night you then feed, settle, get a short amount of sleep, start again. Grin am getting used to it. Pregnancy disrupted sleep is nothing in comparison.

keepitgoing · 03/12/2013 15:49

trix you are making yourself a lot of work. Yes, you're a but nuts... :) treats will just poo on it all right away :)

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 03/12/2013 16:23

Confession time, I ironed everything for its first wash so it was all nice for first wear, but not since.

Keep sounds like BFing is going really well, especially if she's pooing well too Xmas Grin
