Thought I'd go for it

My pleasure, tarka! As you say, it actually tastes nice, appears to have no side effects and might possibly shorten the second stage of labour and reduce the chance of ventouse or forceps delivery. I think that's what they call a no-brainer Grin

What sort do you have, by the way? Mine is Heath & Heather - I read somewhere that it's one of the tastier options.

TarkaTheOtter · 19/11/2013 13:50

Yes I think that's the one I have too. It's the one Holland and Barrett sell.

Sultanajo · 19/11/2013 14:01

Thanks for the link gummi! As you say, something that wont do harm but could have great benefit - no brainer! Grin

MrsVDB · 19/11/2013 14:04

Oh that's a shame. The only reason I'd pay is if dh can stay. Last question- are mlu any different re visiting hours? I really want dh to stay with me

fryingpantoface · 19/11/2013 14:10

MrsVDB

I had DS on a mlu and dh stayed with me for both nights and all day. As it's a birthing centre we didn't have visiting hours, we could have people come and go whenever we wanted them to. We didn't have any visitors, but it was nice having DH stay in a double bed with me

MrsVDB · 19/11/2013 14:14

Just called the hospital and mlu and hospital both changed their rules this year and dh can stay 24 hours during labour and after birth (although only reclining chair). So relieved almost burst into tears on phone :)

MrsGSR · 19/11/2013 14:33

That's good MrsV :)

I was about to ask where you bought the raspberry tea, then saw someone say Holland & Barrett, so thank you :) will make a trip at the weekend to get some.

Sultanajo · 19/11/2013 14:46

Thats great mrsv! It really varies round here. At one of the hospitals DH could stay the whole time, but at the one I am going to he can only stay if in a private room - one of the nct girls told me. So glad she did as hadnt even considered needing to stay in or getting a private room....

Well just heard from my mate. After 5 sweeps (!) she is still only 2-3cm dilated and no contractions! They have now given her a pessary and are gonna try breaking her waters this afternoon....feeling very sorry for her!

MrsVDB · 19/11/2013 15:09

Oh dear sultana poor her

So I've been having a bad lower back and pelvis in last few weeks (possible SPd) but today my bum really aches. You know when you sit down too long and your bum hurts? Mines been like that all day. Even when I just sit down. Any suggestions?

enjoyingscience · 19/11/2013 15:15

RLT has arrived! (all 6 boxes of it).

MrsV have you got space to get on hands and knees and do some pelvic tilts? They always help me when I'm feeling sore. It's all bums on this thread today, isn't it Grin

MrsVDB · 19/11/2013 15:23

enjoying unfortunately not, may get some funny looks! I did wonder about lieing down in prayer room at work but apparently that's not appropriate...

TobyLerone · 19/11/2013 15:26

That's it, Gummi! Yaktrax!
Also, mango tastes like when you spray perfume and get a bit in your mouth. Fact.

flippin great. Jan is supposed to be the worst for the snow.

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 19/11/2013 15:35

I am with you toby! Blerghhh! Mango....its an insult to fruit!

mrsv can you make a doughnut ring out of a jumper and try sitting on it?

Sultanajo · 19/11/2013 15:41

Stupid snow!!! Sad

fryingpantoface · 19/11/2013 15:41

Moving on from bums...

front bums.

anyone else got a massive feeling fanjo? I thought"hmm my fanjo feels fat" and it does! Apparently doesn't look fat though...

just to lower the conversation even more

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 19/11/2013 15:53

YY fat fanjo :o DH said it's definitely 'different', but won't be drawn any further on how, or whether it's better or worse than before!

MrsVDB · 19/11/2013 16:15

sultana I'm sat on my coat which is helping slightly. Very strange

Yes my fanjo is different too, sat on sofa last night being very lady like like a man with legs wide open and felt like insides were hanging out! Asked dh to have a feel (as he was sat behind me) but he accidentally touched by fluffy dressing gown cord and freaked out thinking I'd grown a monster so wouldn't look ha ha

Swannykazoo · 19/11/2013 16:23

Stupid spd - haven't been able to have a good manly loll on the sofa with air round the fanjo for ages.
Has anyone noticed the power of being pregnant to strike fear into people? Twice now Curry's have been mucking about with delivery dates, oh no I'll have to check another system, can't help. One sharp "i am 8 months pregnant -ok nearly 8- and if this appliance arrives after the baby there'll be hell to pay" and suddenly its all oh look, we can do delivery next Thursday we're very sorry.
Raaaar! I am giant lady hear me roar...

GummiBear74 · 19/11/2013 16:59

Oddly, mango tastes kind of fishy to me Confused. I have nothing against fish, generally, it's just that fishy fruit doesn't seem right!

Another fat fanjo over here! I was a little alarmed by the way it felt, so did some manly lolling in front of a mirror - it doesn't look anything like as bad as it feels.

Lol at the dressing gown cord, mrsv!

Sultanajo · 19/11/2013 17:03

mrsv glad you got a bit of relief with your coat...perhaps a rubber ring next?

puggle thats awesome!!! Ladies at checkout tils have been nice to me in the last month which has come as quite a shock and I will miss that! Grin

YY to fat feeling fanjo. Tried having a look in the mirror (like I did with the bum grape, which is getting sore and itching now btw....tmi!) but got scared when it looked a different colour....I think this is one of those "ignorance is bliss" moments! Grin

Mac2014 · 19/11/2013 17:09

mrsv I've just snorted really loudly on the train! That is brilliant, what did he think it was?!

On the fanjo front... Grooming? Not sure what to do. Thinking of Veet as my waxer won't do pg ladies. Any thoughts? At the moment as my DH says 'you look like you have Bob Marley in a headlock'. Need to get that sorted before the world and his mother start peering at my bits.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/11/2013 17:10

Have only read 2 of four pages, so apols for what I miss, but have to leave work now and have NCT tonight for first time...
toby that cake is AMAZING, so impressed.

another how are you doing?

frizz the fuckers - your poor DH.

nature great decision - no point working when you aren't feeling up to it, you'll be far less productive.

mythree fx for a good outcome at your appt.

I have 10 working days to go, a half-day of leave left to take and a half-day to book off for blood tests - hospital wanted to repeat bloods but not see me at 34 weeks 'as the pregnancy is so straightforward'. That's obviously going to curse it, and I'll have the worst labour of all time - don't they understand setting the devil on the fence Grin?

Done my mega hospital bag list now, inspired by bluecarrot's list from a few threads ago, still got stuff to get, but feel more prepared now. Oh, and touring the birthing centre next week in preparation for switching to them, assuming we can still go for a MLU birth.

Would like to think I'll check in again later, but I know I will come home and go to bed, so will try and catch up with you all tomorrow. xx

fryingpantoface · 19/11/2013 17:15

I stole my dh's beard trimmer and tidied up using a mirror. He doesn't know about it, but it was so much easier than trying to shave

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 19/11/2013 17:35

Before we went swimming a few weeks ago, I made DH tidy my 'area' with his beard trimmer :o

Thanks for all the compliments on the cake, btw :) I think I forgot to say...
