For anyone interested...this is what is it's all about: emedicine.medscape.com/article/1281955-treatment

See the 'Hughes procedure' - this is the one I'll apparently have to undergo. Fuckity fuck. Apparently taking an ipod into the theatre helps...any other tips? Any homeopathic anti swelling remedies to suggest?

TobyLerone · 26/11/2013 13:41

The usual one is arnica, I think. Good luck for tomorrow, mythree. We'll all be thinking of you!

Felix90 · 26/11/2013 13:54

Mythree I'm lucky enough to have never had surgery so have no advice but just wanted to say good luck! Thanks

enjoyingscience · 26/11/2013 13:57

good luck mythree, I hope it goes well for you. The iPod sounds like a good plan - some lovely calming music will help a lot Flowers

MrsVDB · 26/11/2013 15:17

book they can still move so much at this stage (I'm sure mine moves between head down (kicks make top of bump and boobs move), transverse (kicks out the side especially when I'm led down) and breech (hiccups in ribs)

myrhree could you have a de clutter and sell loads on eBay?

MrsVDB · 26/11/2013 15:18

mythree good luck. You could try rescue remedy which helps reduce stress and anxiety

Felix90 · 26/11/2013 15:54

Booktart you just sit on it and gently bounce. Apparently it helps move baby in to the right position and helps their head engage. Also they are so comfy to sit on!

Sultanajo · 26/11/2013 16:07

Half a chocolate orange just disappeared! How did that happen? Wink Paying for it big time now - stupid heartburn!

Just bought some little angels nappies. Slightly confused by the sizing....bought a box of size 1 which are 4-11lbs and a box of size 2 which are 6-13lbs. Assuming as long as bubs is less than 11lbs frickin better be! the size 1's will fit to begin with....?

TarkaTheOtter · 26/11/2013 16:23

Good luck with the op mythree. I'm sure they'll take extra special care of you because you are pregnant.

I've made about £500 selling dh's stuff on ebay. Also te house feels so much bigger. All I've had to do is implement a "if it hasn't been used in two years it's going" rule. Who'd have though all his old rubbish would be worth so much. It's really helped us out with bills and Christmas.

Mythreeknights · 26/11/2013 16:36

Wow tarka that's really inspirational. That's what I'll do when I'm recovering from the op -I'll go around the house ruthlessly! Thanks for all advice xxx

fryingpantoface · 26/11/2013 16:39

Good luck three!

wow, well done tarka, that's a load off I'm sure.

Happy Birthday Sarah :) November is a great month to be born in (my birthdays tomorrow!)

Good luck for the op Mythree Flowers

I've been meal planning, and it's shown me that we tend to eat the same 6 or 7 dishes over and over! I've had cooking shows on in the background all day to give me some inspiration. I'm going to try a sausage casserole next week as sausages seem a lot cheaper than other meat (and DH refuses to believe it's a meal if it's veggie Angry) I've also found lentils in Aldi which I'm using to bulk out mince so I can get away with less meat.

MrsVDB · 26/11/2013 17:42

Happy birthday sarah I must if missed that sorry!

quackojuliet · 26/11/2013 17:46

mythree best of luck for your op. I've had eye surgery (as a teenager) to remove a growth on the inside of the eyelid, I was so anxious beforehand they gave me diazepam which was awweeesome and I laughed through the whole procedure.

I;ve had a shitty few days as spd/pgp is back with a vengeance. Had it bacj around 20 weeks and a trip to an osteopath sorted me out and was fab. Last week i started having twinges and thought I just needed to stretch and walk a bit more - BIG MISTAKE! Had a crazy week at work, over pushed myself and I am now a crippled wreck! Can hardly walk without electric type pain, getting into and our of the car, bed etc is excruciating.

Went back to the same osteo yesterday hoping for another miracle cure but sadly the relief didn;t last long and I'm still in a lot of pain. Just picked up a pair of crutches fro physio dept at hospital.

Basically impossible for me to work (teacher) but frustrated as only have 5 days left at work. Considering being signed off now but it would scupper my plans to be paid over xmas holiday (officially finishing on 20th dec end of term). However I think we may just have to be realistic and take the financial hit, finishing at 36 weeks when sick leave will automatically trigger maternity. Gutting though as it'll be just a week short of end of term and an additional 2 weeks pay! urgggghh

Definitely though pushing the pgp makes it a billion times worse so maybe i should just cut my losses and stop now. Somebody make the decision for me!!!!! sorry for long post eek Shock

Toothfairy78 · 26/11/2013 18:37

Evening all!

Just popping in to wish sarah a very happy birthday!

And good luck with the op mythree.

Xxx

enjoyingscience · 26/11/2013 18:52

Holy hell I'm 12 stone! This is why I don't weigh myself! Is 2 1/2 stone a huge amount to put on? (Freaking out a bit now)

extracrunchy · 26/11/2013 19:07

Enjoying me too... Gah...

Happy birthday Sarah!

Tarka that is awesome - I might copy too!

Mythree loads and loads of luck for tomorrow. iPod does sound like a good idea (DH had his when he had to be circumcised under local and said it helped a lot!)

extracrunchy · 26/11/2013 19:08

Oh Quack do you think your osteo might give you some crutches or have you got them already?

quackojuliet · 26/11/2013 19:10

extra yes i got some crutches today from physio...but i weigh a ton and they're really hard to use! i move about 1/4 mile per hour...

extracrunchy · 26/11/2013 19:12

Hmmm maybe they take a bit of getting used to - I've heard they can help a lot. Poor you Sad

fryingpantoface · 26/11/2013 19:14

Ah quack that's a tough one. Do you really feel like you can't do it? If you have any doubts, just go on Mat leave.

Alternatively, is it something you could take one day at a time?

OP posts:
quackojuliet · 26/11/2013 19:21

Feel like I can't physically deal with work - just moving around my small flat is a challenge now. I don't know if it'll get better, think it's unlikely to improve significantly at this stage. But am sure that if I'm at school I'll be pushing myself and likely for it to get worse... the stress of having to call in and justify myself day after day and feel like I'm letting people down makes me think I should just ditch it now so I can focus on the baby. Very tempted to get a sick note and just go in on fri to collect things and say bye...

fryingpantoface · 26/11/2013 19:28

Then do that. For the sake of 2 weeks pay, it's not worth killing yourself. I ended up leaving early (well, I leave on Saturday) and the relief of knowing it's all going to be over is immense

OP posts:
extracrunchy · 26/11/2013 19:59

Quack, I'm with Frying - it sounds awful. And please remember you are NOT letting anyone down.

Felix90 · 26/11/2013 20:01

Quack I'd just throw the towel in and make sure you look after yourself. You're right that if you go back to work you'll end up pushing yourself too hard and make things worse. Focus on your health as that's the main priority at the moment! It's hard when there's a financial aspect involved but you have to do what's best for you & baby.

Enjoyingscience I've not weighed myself for ages but last time a few weeks ago I had also gained 2 and a half stone! Definitely more now too. And I wasn't exactly slim to start off with Hmm

Im getting so stressed about this whole packing/moving business. Spent ages earlier sorting out the 'box of random toiletries' and chucked so much away. OH has a ridiculous amount of unopened cosmetics it is unreal. 26 aftershaves (!!!!!!!) and they are all expensive ones too. He has 4 lots of Jean Paul Gaultier for crying out loud. 10x body sprays, 6 full size shower gels, 7 moisturisers, anti ageing cream, 4 shaving gels, 3 face scrubs and an array of about 20 mini versions of various things like deodorant, body wash etc. I am awash in a sea of man cosmetics. It wiped me out for the rest of the day and now I don't even know where to begin with packing other things. I can't wait for it to be over Sad
