MTMD Envy I nearly stayed in bed today but I dragged my sorry ass in... wish I was in your shoes!

Lmf679 · 05/11/2013 15:00

mtmd very jealous! And mitchell hope you can restrain yourself for the next few hours and then go home and have a nice evening. I really had to restrain when my very helpful colleague (the miserable one) told me my lunch smelled like feet! (It was Thai chicken soup from m&s)...

wispaxmas · 05/11/2013 15:20

MTMD, don't blame the chocolate milk. Chocolate milk is your friend. I just discovered today that the stuff I've been drinking is fortified with vit d and iron, so I used that to justify a second glass this afternoon!

Vickyvix · 05/11/2013 15:47

Ooh mapping out my maternity leave, that sounds way more exciting than work Grin that's the rest of my afternoon sorted then.

I'm going to have to try some of this chocolate milk, feel like I'm missing out!

Just looked in the mirror (on one of my many loo visits) I look awful! All spotty (like a teenager) and massive dark circles round my eyes :/

MTMD · 05/11/2013 15:48

Wispa, sounds good to me :)

I have a question. I know we are entitled to time off work for pregnancy related medical appointments but how does it work in practice? Does it mean we don't need to make up the hours if we see a mw in the morning, for example?

I have booked two mornings off for booking-in and scan but now that I'm telling them about my pregnancy, should I really use my A/L?

I probably sounds like a slacker but I have so little A/L it might be nice not to lose it if that's what I'm legally entitled to..

Thoughts welcome! Thanks

GillyBillyWilly · 05/11/2013 15:57

MTMD, don't use your annual leave.
You are entitled to the time off and don't need to use annual leave and nor do you need to make up the hours Smile

AuntPittypat · 05/11/2013 16:20

Yes, MTMD, all employers have to allow time off for pregnancy appointments. My letter from the hospital has this in big, block letters alongside saying that they will only reschedule appointments for 'critical reasons'!

I've got the problem that I haven't told my work yet, and don't want to until a couple of weeks after my scan so I have booked annual leave. I'm hoping I can change it retrospectively after I tell them, or I'll just let it go as I've got loads of leave left this year!

superlambanana · 05/11/2013 16:37

Hooray, I've finally got my booking appointment! Managed to speak to somebody at the hospital who knew what she was talking about Smile

Do I take DH? Is that normal? Or do I go on my own? And what's the rule for fathers and time off for antenatal appointments?

noseymcposey · 05/11/2013 16:50

I didn't take DH when I went first time round but only because it's quite long and goes through your medical history etc. They ask you questions about DV etc so I think they prefer your partner not to be present then. That's remembering back to a few years ago though! But I am sure plenty of DH's go!

GinandStripes · 05/11/2013 17:00

Hey all - 8+1 today, this waiting for a referral letter is madness! So jealous of all the early scans but I must be patient.

re: Chocolate Milk - I am all over the chocolate milk craving, can't get enough of it. Tried to mix it up a bit yesterday by having a strawberry milkshake, wasn't as good!

Okay this is a bit of a weird one, I've spotted someone from RL in this thread - what should I do? I feel really naughty knowing their secret and them not knowing mine! Should I reveal myself to them or wait until they announce it publicly?

Mitchell2 · 05/11/2013 17:07

today i should have stayed in bed. Preggo rage went into over drive and I ended up having to tell one of my staff I was preggers as they were being a bit of an arse saying that they were at the moment the only one in the team working (it was just a retaliation to something else) but still...

Not happy. hmmph.

Mitchell2 · 05/11/2013 17:08

Gin well if it was me (and I don't think it is) I would like to be told as it would be nice to be going through this with someone that I knew!

MarlenaGru · 05/11/2013 17:22

Definitely tell... but tell us too because I'm nosey

MarlenaGru · 05/11/2013 17:24

So jealous mtmd I survived work but I definitely am feeling the hangover! My head is thick from the pregnacold and I am so tired I ache all over. Hoping DC will go to bed easily for me which never happens on a Tuesday.

jaykay987 · 05/11/2013 17:30

gin I say send a polite pm....they can always choose to ignore it if they aren't ready to talk in rl!

Vickyvix · 05/11/2013 17:38

gin I would definitely contact them, a secret shared and all

Am totally intrigued now!

wispaxmas · 05/11/2013 17:45

Gin, tell!

GinandStripes · 05/11/2013 17:48

So that's 5 tells and 0 keep it stums! Smile

MarlenaGru · 05/11/2013 17:49
Grin
jaykay987 · 05/11/2013 17:53

It's definitely fair. Imagine if they revealed something about their oh or something.......they may not be ready to talk in RL, but might post differently if they knew you were on here.

Im hoping they will be your buddy...in which case you can both come back and 'out' yourselves! GrinIm far too nosey!

Do you know them well? Or is it an odd association?

GinandStripes · 05/11/2013 18:00

Funnily enough (this may be a slight clue to them) we know each other from another forum - many moons ago, think we've known each other about 10 years.

HannahC1989 · 05/11/2013 18:11

Got my 12 week scan date!! Yay 28th November gives me something to look forward too xx

GinandStripes · 05/11/2013 18:15

Oooh yay Hannah - how many weeks will you be then?

Liquidambar · 05/11/2013 18:24

Gin tell us Grin

I had a nice appointment with the midwife. She was midwife for the last months of my pregnancy and she saw all my "drama" of having a prem baby. It was a quick appointment. I felt I had "graduated" from pregnancy and this appointment was just a refresher. However I explained cried how anxious I have been feeling about the possibility of having another premature baby. I will see the consultant at 22 weeks and we'll see how it goes from there.

Busy day at work. I had two meetings today where we discussed the project over the next months. Both times I was feeling very awkward for not telling that I will be gone for a year Hmm

noseymcposey · 05/11/2013 18:26

Definitely tell them! If it was me I would want that - actually I hope it is me it would be nice to have a real life pregnancy buddy!
