Ladies, which one of you is addicted to chocolate milk? I've suddenly developed a massive craving, although I never ever buy them. Which one is the best? I'll try and get DH to fetch some on his way back... Blush

HannahC1989 · 04/11/2013 14:32

So we have decided to tell my LG on christmas day about our new arrival. Shes 4 in jan and has been asking for over a year for sibling. Im going to frame and wrap a scan picture and see if she can work it out. Im soooo excited for xmas now just had to share it!!

wispaxmas · 04/11/2013 14:40

MTMD, I'm one with the chocolate milk addiction, but I'm in France, so not much help. I've just been mixing nesquik powder into normal milk, though! I did buy a small bottle of Tesco own brand chocolate milk last time I was in the UK and it hit the spot. Bonus was that it was only a little one; if it had been big I would have had so much more!

I'm not a milk drinker normally, so I'm finding it pretty funny how much I'm having now. Obviously baby needs it.

Vickyvix · 04/11/2013 14:44

Yey fantastic news emmazers and stacks really pleased you both had good scans!

Welcome hackney.

jaykay I was only circa 6+3 when I had my early scan (measured in my scan) and there was plenty enough to see (gestational and yolk sac and the little bean - and the heartbeat!) my GP dates had me at about 8 weeks. So don't worry if you think you are a little further behind than your GP dates.

I think you will definitely see more if you wait longer (around 8 weeks should get you a nice image of every thing) but I understand that you want to know there is something there and that it's growing, so even at 6+2 you should see that.

The clinic I used did warn me though that they do not guarantee heartbeat being seen until 7 weeks, but I think that is so as not to get hopes up and that it has something to do with how the dates are worked out, as it's all based on average cycles etc.

I am sorely tempted to book another scan for when I'm 9 weeks, to fill the void before my 12 week scan!

BEEwitched · 04/11/2013 14:56

MTMD - I love yazoo, and had a Fudge Brownie Frijj for breakfast this morning; and a satsuma. Blush

MarlenaGru · 04/11/2013 15:03

jaykay I was 7 weeks by LMP but scan dated me at 6 weeks but could see heartbeat and everything looked fine apparently.
The doctor did say that as I had tested negative day AF was due (as you did too I think) it was fairly likely I was 6 rather than 7 weeks. I think I am somewhere in between to be honest but was hugely relieved that the heart was beating strongly.

wispaxmas · 04/11/2013 15:26

It makes sense that dates can be off a bit, even if you would have had the 100% average 28 day cycle with ov on CD14, because implantation can happen any time from 6-12 days after, and if you implanted early you could very well be a week ahead of someone with the exact same cycle who just had an egg that wanted to hang around a few extra days before implanting!

BEEwitched · 04/11/2013 15:40

jaykay Sorry, just saw your post! It's definitely a tiny bump, I'm overweight so thought it wouldn't show much, but most of my weight is on my hips/thighs, not my tummy - now I can definitely tell it's sticking out front a bit more than it normally does, I think it's quite funny.

Emmazers · 04/11/2013 15:49

Thanks everyone! I'm so chuffed Smile

Snowlet They didn't tell me the heart rate! It wasn't one of those fancy London scans you know Wink

Stacks They measured at 6+4, which is about a day smaller than from my LMP, so about right.

My midwife told me about a recent study showing that women were more accurate at dating their babies than scans, so you're all probably right!

MTMD · 04/11/2013 16:18

I went out to shops and got two types of chocolate milk along with all sorts of VERY random items. I think my supermarket will soon work out I'm pregnant :)

It gave me enough energy to tidy up the kitchen and empty dishwasher and washing machine. This is much more than I've done over the last two weeks! But I can feel sickness and dizziness returning now do back to bed.. It's my birthday tomorrow, would it be wrong to call in sick on your birthday..? Too suspicious? I don't expect to feel any better than this morning, though..

Ps going back to chocolate milk, it reminds me of camping holidays in Portugal. We were staying in a cute camping overlooking the sea and had chocolate milk and fresh pastries for breakfast every morning. Total paradise!

jaykay987 · 04/11/2013 16:26

ooh chocolate milk. I'd kill for some right now.
I'm stuck in a hotel with work until Wednesday night. I can't access any food or drink that I fancy!

for those of you that are teachers......I do not know how you do it. I am day one into delivering a training course and I'm am dying! Just want to go and hide in my hotel room! Smile

ohcluttergotme · 04/11/2013 16:33

So great to hear all having positive scans Smile
I have been feeling really rubbish, got into work today and had to leave after a couple of hours Hmm
Spent the afternoon watching downton and still feel drained.
Got my midwives appointment on Thursday so hoping she'll take bloods as I'm thinking I may be slightly anaemic, so tired, headache, dizzy, nauseous.
Hope others are feeling better Smile

wispaxmas · 04/11/2013 16:50

Just skyped with my (also pregnant) sister. I asked her if she had any cravings with either this or her last pregnancy, and her only one was chocolate milk! It's perhaps more common than I thought!

ohcluttergotme · 04/11/2013 17:07

I craved chocolate milk with last 2 pregnancies and really helped with heartburn later on in pregnancy Smile

jaykay987 · 04/11/2013 17:10

must be the diary! I normally love a banana yahoo if Im hungover.....maybe that'd work it's tricks now?!

MTMD · 04/11/2013 17:19

Yup, I think this must be due to protein/calcium/iodine? what else is in milk?
Incidentally, I also bought some kefir (soured milk drink) and it is going down a treat, even better than chocolate milk!

Lmf679 · 04/11/2013 17:24

I told my boss and the hr department today, am only 7+1 but I have a big event coming up that in a couple of weeks that would require a lot of lifting and climbing up ladders for the set up and then a full 14 - 16 hours the next day on my feet in heels all day so thought it would be easier to say so they didn't expect too much of me. Am so glad I did, they were so supportive and really happy for me, they will be discreet and it's a massive relief knowing I won't be put under too much pressure.

MarlenaGru · 04/11/2013 17:28

I can't stomach anything sweet. It is so hard!!

No idea how but I survived the day and feel better now than I did this morning. Only thing is I remembered I had volunteered to go to my DC's school careers evening. So my evening of chilling on the sofa has been obliterated Sad

NessieMcFessie · 04/11/2013 17:29

Mmmmm chocolate milk! Don't know if I can get that here - will have to make my own.

Poor DD has gastroenteritis......she is so sick, and I have cleaned up so much vomit. I am sure it is coming my way next...it always does.

Penguin - how are you? How was the first day?

jaykay987 · 04/11/2013 17:30

wow that's great they are supportive. A 16hour day on your feet would jot be fun.

I on the otherhand need to try and hide it from work until middle of Feb!

MTMD - the sound of that sour drink actually made me wretch! Grin

Liquidambar · 04/11/2013 17:34

emmazers and stacks fantastic news Smile

My beginning of the day at work was a bit stressful, but then I calmed down myself and thought that this baby is more important than a job. Grrr... sometimes it is so hard to conciliate both.

On the positive, I am seeing my midwife tomorrow. I will be 8 weeks :)

MTMD · 04/11/2013 17:43

Sorry, jay! It tastes a bit like lean yogurt. DH thinks I'm odd, though :D

CleverOl10 · 04/11/2013 18:14

A little jealous of those starting to feel better. Am 8+5 and getting worse by the day! Nausea is worst last thing at night making sleep difficult. Add in waking up to pee in early hours and DS getting up at 6 and I'm shattered!

Lovely to hear how many are hearing heart beats. I've never heard of anyone having an early scan before coming on here but it seems the done thing here! Feeling left out lol. Grin

SicknSpan · 04/11/2013 18:28

carrie I think the only protocols that really exist around sharing the news are the ones we decide for ourselves. I think it would be a really thoughtful thing to tell your friend (if she's that good a friend you certainly wouldnt be ruining her wedding pics just by being obviously pregnant in them!) and as she lives away then maybe those who you might otherwise have told first would not know. But honestly, it's up to you when you share the news and with whom- if soneone gets snippy about not knowing about it before such and such then really, they need to get over their own sense of self importance. Gosh I got a bit carried away there! Soz.

Emmazers · 04/11/2013 18:43

Gah! There are NO shops in Bristol selling salt and vinegar squares! I think you're all causing a national shortage!

Thanks Liquid Smile

MTMD I make kefir and love it, though I'm worried I may have killed my grains as I haven't been able to handle straining it recently, oops Blush wanders of to inspect them
