Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wispaxmas · 31/10/2013 08:57

I'm so sorry, PJen, I know someone who went through the exact same thing - v early scan diagnosed twins, then 12-wk scan showed 2 empty sacs. It's heartbreaking, but I have everything crossed that you'll have sticky beans in the (very near) future. Cake

I'm loving all the pram suggestions, I even looked into the xplory. Definitely a good price from that store, but reading the reviews it's not good on uneven ground, so with wispa's daily walks in the woods, it's not ideal. Still can't find anything I like more than the buffalo.

Stacks · 31/10/2013 09:23

Morning all. So sorry to hear more sad news. It's such a difficult time before that 12w scan, it all seems like such a fragile process.
Hope those with scans today get good news. It's lovely seeing that little heartbeat on the screen, even if there's nothing else to see there really. I've got my scan next Monday, the day before our wedding anniversary. If all goes well I think we'll tell very close family afterwards.

I'm on holiday in London just now, meeting my little nephew for the first time, and spending a little time with my dad. The timing has been good, as I've finally got sat the diarrhoea now :)

I need to look at double prams, as my DS will only be 18m. Anyone else? I'm thinking maybe the Baby Jogger City Select, as it can be made to a single pram quite easily too. I'd like something that folds quite small, and isn't too hard to get on and off of busses, and deal with awful pavements and some mild off roading.

bludgerwitch · 31/10/2013 09:28

PJen, I'm really sorry to hear that. Big hugs from me and I hope you'll be back on the pregnancy boards soon!

I woke up thinking "yay, no nausea!" - curses, spoke too soon.

MTMD · 31/10/2013 09:35

Good morning!

Woke up with another mega headache this morning. I think they are getting more frequent and

MTMD · 31/10/2013 09:37

Oops sorry, phone!

... and more intense. Anyone else? What do you do? I'm taking paracetamol in order to make it to work. I wish I could go medication free but that' doesn't seem possible mid week :(

cheesysmile · 31/10/2013 09:42

PJen I'm so so sorry Flowers and have my FX for London - any news?

I rearranged my 12 wk scan this morning so is now on Monday 25th November - 3.5 wks to go! I may have to tell my manager at work the week before but will ask her to keep it quiet until I confirm all ok on the Monday. I can't wait to tell everyone. We've only told my parents and a close friend so far so will be great to just tell everyone and not have to pretend anymore. I'm sure people at work must think I have worms the amount I've been snacking at my desk!

Good luck to anyone with scans / booking in appts today Smile

cheesysmile · 31/10/2013 09:47

MTMD sorry you're feeling so rubbish - I don't have any advise I'm afraid, but can imagine its totally draining for you. I thought paracetamol was ok anyway so I wouldn't worry about taking it, you've to be able to function.

Liquidambar · 31/10/2013 09:56

wispax I don't get any commission but the phil and teds is great for the outdoors. It passed my "woodlands' test* Wink (I work with outdoor environments)

Liquidambar · 31/10/2013 10:14

can't focus at work. the only things I can think are the scan and a bacon roll Blush I think i might go for it

adaloveslace · 31/10/2013 10:15

So I had my booking in appointment today and everything went so well. We had a little look on the obstetrician's scanner, and the little jellybean was all cosy in there, heart beating away. There are lots more dramatic moments and many special firsts ahead, but I reckon nothing can take away the pure, delicious magic of the first time you hear your baby's heartbeat. Really hope lots more of you get to experience it soon.

Liquidambar - you're having a scan today, right? Best of luck with it. We never really got an explanation about DS or DD, who was full term but also small for dates. But my lovely warm and reassuring new obstetrician (guess who's totally smitten) is determined to give this little jellybean the best possible chance, so he's going to do lots of tests and extra scans throughout and put me on antibiotics for the last trimester. My next appointment with him is at 10 weeks, then a scan at 11, 16, 20 etc. It's nice to feel someone else is as worried as I am... in fact I've relaxed hugely now.

Good luck to everyone having scans today and tomorrow and happy Hallowe'en to the rest of you.

bludgerwitch · 31/10/2013 10:24

Oooh, liquid, thanks for that feedback, I was eyeing up the Phil & Ted's!

I have Tiger Balm for my temples and get DH to give me a shoulder-rub at night, which helps. I've never taken a lot of painkillers and don't really want to start now, esp. since there's so much conflicting advice about them.

ohcluttergotme · 31/10/2013 10:25

Stacks my sis-in-law said the Phil & Ted double system was great.
She has 4 children 5 and under and has used it twice for 2 children with close age gaps and said its great for big walks.
We had the 3D silvercross pram for our little boy which I loved, he was so cozy then it went into lovely pushchair when he got a bit bigger.
Also got maclaren xt for ease once he was a bit bigger.
Both of these in great condition so will have to curb my pram/buggy fetish as we don't need another!
Brilliant on all those having positive appointments/scans and good luck to those waiting Smile

Liquidambar · 31/10/2013 10:31

great news adaloveslace . we'll see what my midwife says next week about this pregnancy and whether she will send me to the consultant. I know 35 weeks is not the end of the world but like your consultant I think theses babies need a bit of extra care.

I am eating a bacon roll and it's heaven! I might be able to focus on my report after this. Wink

Liquidambar · 31/10/2013 10:35

bludger the only upside down of the phil and teds is than it is a bit heavy if you live on a top floor. But other than that is fab.
We have a city micro for holidays, airports etc.

I'm thinking about buying a second chair for it because I can see Ds wanting to be on the buggy as well.

NessieMcFessie · 31/10/2013 10:39

Does anyone know anything about those stand-on boards you can get for buggies? I think DD would love that! Do they attach to any buggy or do you have to buy a compatible one?

ohcluttergotme · 31/10/2013 10:40

Mmmm liquid, you've really made me want a bacon roll!! Smile

adaloveslace · 31/10/2013 10:41

Exactly Liquid - DS had a lot of minor issues related to being small and/or preemie. He is still tiny. When he was younger, he had terrible reflux, an immature central nervous system, motor skills were slow to develop etc. Nothing awful or unmanageable and he's brilliant now but you'd sooner not, if you know what I mean.

My buggy review: We had a Phil and Teds for DD and DS and loved it in lots of ways but it's now in a garage on the wrong side of the world so in the market for something new too. We had a Bebe Confort Loola at one stage and hated it. Also had a Quinny Zapp which is lovely to push but doesn't recline. Thinking of succumbing to the Bugaboo this time even though this baby is definitely our last.

ohcluttergotme · 31/10/2013 10:42

I think they attach to any prams, I was thinking of getting one too for ds, who will be 4 and about to start school. Thought we could walk down the road but think it might be a big too much for ds Smile

bludgerwitch · 31/10/2013 10:46

Y'all are making me want to buy the Buffalo Confused - DH will not be impressed!

jaykay987 · 31/10/2013 10:48

mtmd- have you tried 4head stick? I can only normally shift headaches with anadian extra. So far I've managed without paracetamol and survived using this stick. I apply it almost constantly, abd so I probably have quite a shiny and a little oddly smelly head to my colleagues - but I don't care - it feels so much better!

liquid I now completely blame you that all I can think of is a bacon sandwich! I have bacon at home in the fridge - which is a rarity - and even more annoying as I'm at work and can't get to it!

midwife just called me. Booking in appointment made! yay!Grin something to countdown to! It's not until 22nd November....so awhile to wait but I'll be 9weeks then.

superlambanana · 31/10/2013 11:45

Ooh jaykay I'm jealous now - not heard anything yet!

Feeling sorry for myself. Have seen doctor and she's isn't alarmed but says I need to rest. I should try to do some work from home but I'm in agony with stomach pains. Better if I walk round so have been pacing round lounge and also caved and had a paracetamol. Hmm

bludgerwitch · 31/10/2013 11:55

Ick, super, sounds really unpleasant - thankfully I've only had wee tummy cramps, maybe make a lukewarm 'hot' water bottle, wrap it in a towel to make sure it's not too hot, and put that on the upper part of your tummy?

I haven't heard the heartbeat, they only did pictures, but then one of my books says it's best to not do a doppler before 20 weeks as it's noisy for baby so I'm happy enough to leave it for now.

Mitchell2 · 31/10/2013 12:20

Anyone got the pregnancy emotional mess symptoms today?! I seriously am losing it and on the verge of tears AT NOTHING. Not a good look at work Hmm

MyNameIsWinkly · 31/10/2013 12:28

Mitchell considering my face is still red and blotchy from the massive sobbing fit I've just had over absolutely nothing, I would say you're not on your own.

noseymcposey · 31/10/2013 12:41

Not even looking at buggies yet! We had a babystyle oyster for DS but never really used it that much unless going in to town - it was ok but DS was never really happy in it so not sure whether to try and reuse it or not. Perhaps I just need to make it more comfortable. Not sure why but everyone else's pushchairs always looked far more cosy/comfortable!

I've given in and booked a scan for tomorrow. I got the date for my 12 week scan through and it's not till 2nd December and it just seems too far away. My sickess is much better was fine all day yesterday just a bit pukey in the evening so still can't decide whether I've had a bug or not! A lot of symptoms seemed to have eased although as I've said before I'm trying not to worry too much about that as they came and went with DS! But it would be nice to know what's what.

I did wonder if something happens at around 7/8 weeks that particularly affects me. (TMI coming up!) When I was pg with DS, at 7/8 wks I got terribly violent diaorrhea (sp?) It wasn't like poo it was just yellow acid and I felt SO ill and it last for about 5 days. At almost the exact same point in the pg I had the same thing but this time being sick. Really violently and really acidy. Just a coincidence?
